So with Season 1 coming to an end, I'd figured we should hand out grades to each writer/writing team for Season 1. So here's mine:

Joshua Sternin & J.R. Ventimilia -
(4 Episodes) Rise of the Turtles, I Think His Name is Baxter Stockman, The Gauntlet, & TCRI
Overall Grade - A+
Summary: Other than the Stockman episode, they aced everything.

Russ Carney & Ron Corcillo -
(4 Episodes) Monkey Brains, It Came From the Depths, The Pulverizer, Karai's Vendetta
Overall Grade - A-
Summary: Two great episodes, One good episode, and The Pulverizer...

Tom Alvarado -
(1 Episode) Metalhead
Overall Grade - B+
Summary: I personally liked the episode, probably more than others. More episodes would have been nice.

Kenny Byerly -
(4 Episodes) Never Say Xever, Mousers Attack!, The Alien Agenda, Enemy of My Enemy
Overall Grade - A-
Summary: Loved the last two, Liked the first two.

Pete Goldfinger -
(1 Episode) Parasitica
Overall Grade - B+
Summary: Liked the episode, just didn't like where it was placed in the story order. Again, more episodes would have been nice.

Joshua Hamilton -
(1 Episode) New Friend, Old Enemy
Overall Grade - B
Summary: Liked the episode, but wasn't as big a fan of it as others. Still would have been nice to see another episode from him.

Jase Ricci -
(2 Episodes) I, Monster, Baxter's Gambit, Operation: Breakout
Overall Grade - A
Summary: Loved all episodes from Jase, would've loved to have seen him do at least one more. This guy knows his stuff.

Jeremy Shipp -
(5 Episodes) Turtle Temper, Panic in the Sewers, New Girl in Town, Cockroach Terminator, The Pulverizer Returns!
Overall Grade - B
Summary: Liked 3 of them, but Panic was only average, & Cockroach Terminator was just ehh...Probably being generous with a B.

So overall thoughts and other's grades.

Man, Jeremy Shipp wrote some of the worst episodes of the season. I'm sure he's a good writer in general, but for some reason his episodes just feel much duller and weaker than the others.

Turtle Temper and Cockroach Terimantor were dull fillers to introduce a generic mutant, but New Girl in Town was good.

Jase Ricci also wrote Baxter's Gambit.

Byerly, Ricci, Sternin & Ventimilia were my favorite writers.

The only flaw I see is the episodes with the Pulverizer in it. Other episodes are still entertaining be it for the main story arc or fillers.

Joshua Sternin & J.R. Ventimilia -
(4 Episodes) Rise of the Turtles, I Think His Name is Baxter Stockman, The Gauntlet, & TCRI

These guys do well, and certainly bring the humor. Least favorite episode is easily "TCRI". Great fun, but at the end it was like nothing happened... and the same ground is being covered again with the finale, just on a bigger scale. And if I had to guess, I'd say they wrote Showdown, too.

Give them an A, though. They've written some epic stuff.

Russ Carney & Ron Corcillo -
(4 Episodes) Monkey Brains, It Came From the Depths, The Pulverizer, Karai's Vendetta

Again, great with humor. The Pulverizer was a cheesy character from his inception, but I think they made him pretty funny. My "dud" for them is "Vendetta" just due to its buzzkill pacing as a follow up to "Enemy of my Enemy".

Give 'em a B+

Tom Alvarado -
(1 Episode) Metalhead

Arggggh. Such a fun episode, but such a first draft, if you will. The logic of the turtles not being able to hurt the little Kraang perched on top of Metalhead still annoys me. And don't get me started on Donnie suddenly not being able to hurt the Kraangdroids with his Bo... even though he's knocked them on their asses by simply throwing at them in earlier episodes.

Kenny Byerly -
(4 Episodes) Never Say Xever, Mousers Attack!, The Alien Agenda, Enemy of My Enemy

Love Kenny. Great balance of action, humor and drama. So glad he's writing the New Animated Adventures comic book. Pissed he won't be back for season 2.

A+

Pete Goldfinger -
(1 Episode) Parasitica

Fun episode. Hope to see him return :)

B+

Joshua Hamilton -
(1 Episode) New Friend, Old Enemy

Bummer that he only got one shot... hopefully he comes back.

B.

Jase Ricci -
(3 Episodes) I, Monster, Baxter's Gambit, Operation: Breakout

Jase is good. I prefer his standalone stuff a bit more than, say, Operation: Breakout.

A-

Jeremy Shipp -
(5 Episodes) Turtle Temper, Panic in the Sewers, New Girl in Town, Cockroach Terminator, The Pulverizer Returns!

"Panic in the Sewers" is such an ass follow up to "The Gauntlet" that I can't let him any where near a B. Most of his scripts seem to drag on. I liked "New Girl in Town" a lot, but that's it from him.

Mad he wrote second most episodes...
