View Full Version : When do you think the Turtles will finally be able to take down Shredder in a fight?

This is the first Turtle show where the Turtles haven't been able to beat Shredder at least once by the end of 26 episodes.
At this point in the 4kids run Leonardo had chopped Shredder's head off and defeated him at the end of Return to New York. In Nick, the Turtles lost against him in "The Gauntlet" and then barely kept him at bay with throwing stars in one of the Karai episodes. And in the finale, Splinter fights Shredder.
When do you think the Turtles will get good enough to finally take down Shredder? I wonder if the writers won't actually do it till the end of Season 2, since they want Shredder to remain a threat and not turn into a pushover.

I think when they reveal the identity of Karai to the turtles is when the showdown begins. They likely won't be able to get to that level till the end of the season when they try to take Karai back.

I'm gonna stick with you on this. Especially since I have not seen the show in a while.

I don't know when they'll be able to beat Shredder in a fight, but I like the fact that in this show the Turtles are still growing as ninjas and can't just beat him flat out like in other incarnations. I'm sure they will defeat him eventually.

Maybe so, the Season 2 finale won't be for another 26 episodes though. Its kind of hard to imagine Shredder not going after the turtles earlier.

Stop role playing, it's annoying.

When they do it'll be Leo because that's his role.
The serious leader. He's the only one to get a lick in on Splinter and it'll be the same for Shredder.
Did anyone else feel like Splinter would have felt pretty crunchy for his last bit of wisdom to Leo if he had never made it back at all?

I can tell you're like 9 or 10 because I used to act like this at that age as well. There's an RPG forum on this site, I think you'll like it there. The rest of the forums are for genuine opinions and replies.

Honestly, like you said, I think the writers don't wanna make the turtles defeat shredder a GAZILLION times and then just bring him back full force like it's been done in the past. It would take the edge off the character. I think they have a similar mentality to the guys from IDW: the turtles win their way out of tough situations but their adversaries (well main adversaries; let's ignore the mutants of the week) never truly lose. They just keep coming back stronger.
As to when it could happen, IDK. It really depends on what the writers are aiming for. The closest I could see them doing it is in the finale of season 2, but it definitely could happen later on. We'll see (:
