They gave it an 8.5.
Great review, and I hope the show can continue to improve next season.

Nice review. The banner for the piece looks awesome btw, I wonder where they got it / how they through it together.
Naturally, this was helped by the fact that each Turtle had their own unique character design, but it also came out in the writing -- little things like Donatello's crush on April, Raphael's soft spot for Spike or Leonardo's terrible puns.
I can already hear the people who complain Mikey doesn't shine as much as his brothers going crazy about this
Although I can see where they are coming for since, so far, the only thing mikey's got going on is his silliness. I'm sure they got something planned for him in the future though. In terms of character development, there is a lot that can be done about him. The tricky part will be how to make him more serious or "grown-up" without losing his goofball status.

This might be a little controversial because it's a bit sexist, but I do think Mikey distinguishes himself. He's softhearted and affectionate - the caveat is that those are traits that females notice more than males, or males tend to characterize as "wussy" rather than positive.
Or the author didn't want to belabor the point about individual traits, whichever.

Yeah you are right, though I feel that the IDW comics are better at getting that point across than this show. On the nick toon they try to show that side of him but is not in any way as prominent as his goofball/ADHD attitude. Maybe if we get more Mikey centric eps at some point this can be further explored.

The rivalry between Shredder and Splinter/Turtles is at its very BEST here, so I'm beyond excited for Season 2! With the way the first Season played out, this show has the potential to be up there with the Animation Greats such as Batman: The Animated Series or Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Can't wait for Season 2. Casey Jones will automatically bring up the show one point from 8.5 :D
Not much to disagree with here! I came from a sorta-similar POV before the show started - I was okay with the style, but a lot of the early information made me worry that they were going "full '87" in tone. But instead they've struck a really nice balance that manages to touch on all the versions of the TMNT we've seen before - delivering humour, action and pathos - while feeling like its own animal. I'm damn impressed.
For whatever concerns I voiced before 2012, I've definitely earned this as a meal:

I guess my biggest complaint in this series is the April/Donnie thing. For me that's just a little TOO weird. LOL. Other than that human/mutant love thing I think it's perfect and I honestly expect next season that April and Casey are gonna get together but I understand the April/Donnie thing because I've always thought in the other series that all the Turtles had sort of a crush on April.

Seems about right. It's not my favorite TMNT show but I can understand why for some people it is.

Best TMNT ever... at least when you judge season 1 vs. other season 1s, IMO :) Definitely room for even more improvements, which I hope are coming.
Glad they did a season 1 superreview after so many were displeased with their season 1 finale review.

I think what dragged this season down a bit is some of the fillers involving those one-off mutants, like the Spiderbitez episode, Cockroach terminator, and the first Pulverizer episode.
A lot of people are forgetting this season did have some below average episodes.

Great season 1. I sure hope we get a blu ray set.

I thought their finale review was spot on. Although a score /10 isn't totally concrete. One person might think 7/10 means 'crap', another might think 7/10 is a pretty damn good score.

That's true but I think the problem is that, relative to the scores they awarded other episodes, the grade didn't seem to be correct. 7/10 is still good but inferior episodes scored more highly. As I say, it's all relative.
I haven't read the review yet (it's very early where I am and I have to go out soon) but 8.5 seems very fair for the entire season. 9 or 10 would be groundbreaking best in the business type stuff, and I think it's fair to say that objective viewers (i.e. those with no attachment to the turtles) wouldn't go that far. However, the standard throughout the 26 episodes has been pretty high for the most part, and halfway between 8 and 9 seems plausible.
