I found them both great equally but on different points 2k3 for its action and storylines and 2k12 for its character interaction and humor

Not really, I like 2k3 a bit more because of it's maturity.

While I do like both, I also like 2012 a bit more for certain reasons, though I certainly don't hate 2K3 by any means except for Fast Forward and BTTS.

I like the 2k3 show quite a bit more, personally, but I do like '87 and 2012 equally.

I like 2k3 better, mostly because of the animation.

I like both, but I vastly prefer 2003. That could change in the future though.
I prefer 2k12 2k3 for me got boring very fast 2k12 i can re watch and not get bored with it.
I just finished watching season 1 of 2k3, for the first time in 6 years, about 4 days ago, and proceeded to watch every episode of 2k12 season 1, which I haven't watched.
They're both really different and well made adaptations.
2k3 is a much Darker series, and the comedy is there but clearly takes a back seat to the serious tone that 2k3 was trying to create. 2k3 really tackles all the conflicts the turtles face, in a very effective way.
2k12 isn't as serious as 2k3, but manages to strike a balence between the comedy of the Ot and the seriousness of 2k3. However, this doesn't necceserily make it the better series, as there's many times when it tries to be serious, but the intensity of the moment just isn't felt, like in the finale. This series really shines in the fact it has a pretty progressive plot, whiles maintaining it's fun and comedy.
When it comes to the turtles themselves.. I think it's around a 2-2 split for which series I prefer
Leo (2k3):I prefer 2k3 Leo because, his leadership really shines through in this series. Not only that, but his sense of justice , and his internal struggles really do a lot for his character. For example, in the season 1 episodes where he's seriously injured from Shredder's elite guard, his sprit is completly broken, and you see different aspects to his character. Leo's character really shined because of the overall tone of the series, if that makes sense
Mikey (2k12) : Whiles I do sometimes feel like Mikey's abilties, and value to the team are dumbed down in this series, in comparison to 2k3, his comedy really makes him a better character than 2k3. One of the mistakes 2k3 made, was letting Mikey's comedy get lost in the serious nature of the show. 2k12 makes sure to have tons of funny moments, with him at the center.
Raph- (2k3 by far) : I dislike Raph's character in 2k12. In 2k12, his relationship with his brothers for the majority of the season, is limited to insults, and just a-holeish behavior. Certain instances like labeling Mikey and Don the B team, and not supporting Don when he was trying to impress April really made me shake my head. 2k3 Raph never gave off that feeling to me. Sure the brothers fought and argued, but Raph never seemed to demonstrate that he didn't care about any of them.
Don- (2k12 by a lot) : I don't have problems with 2k3's portrayal of Don, but he just didn't do all that much. His character wasn't really that developed in season 1, and he just seemed like the tech guy. I like how in 2k12 they've added different elements of Don's character and his relationships, to make him a less one dimensional character

I like 2012 more due to prettier computer graphic and more enjoyable stories/characters.

Too soon for me. I mean there are 7 4Kids seasons and only 1 Nick season. I'll get back with you.

What's OT...chopped liver? j/k...Honestly, I like all three the same for their own reasons. They each have their strengths and weaknesses.

I love the 2k3 series more because it takes a lot after the comics and, with a few exceptions, expands upon it. If the 2k12 series can change a few issues I have with it, we'll see where it will go from there.
I want to say that I like 2k12 more than 87 but like some people said, it's too soon. It's thankfully not as corny with the jokes, I'll say that. What about you guys and the OT?

This.
The new one is growing on me, and it's amusing, but I'll probably always prefer 2K3.

I myself is included, but perhaps a bit more towards 2k12 due to its inspiration it is taking from the OT. But 2k3 is less discovered for me and is still something that I'm figuring out in terms of the complete picture between the arcs, comic tie-ins, battle strategy, and all of the filler episodes. I've appreciated CGI since Toy Story, so its nothing new to me and could easily flow between the two art styles. But 2k12 is still current and based upon what we know about what's coming in Season 2 gets me excited for the changes that are going to taking back.

Good post pal. I don't agree with absolutely everything but you've made some interesting points.
Personally, I comfortably prefer 2k3. However, that's more a reflection of how much I like the 4kids series (it's my favourite ever cartoon, allowing for my obvious bias as a Ninja Turtles fan), as I enjoy 2k12 also. I'd have preferred if season 1 of 2k12 had focused solely on Shredder and the Foot as antagonists, personally. I believe season 2 is likely to be that way inclined so I expect the show to get better and better.

I definitely agree that season 1 got quite a bit hectic, with them trying to create both the Kranng and Shredder as legitimate threats. They might have been better suited if they had simply focused on 1.

Not really, I like 2k3 a bit more because of it's maturity.
Do people really think 2K3 was all that mature? Elements of it were adult but most of the decisions and developments they did was very childish and like any other kids show!
Nickelodeon's TMNT is a lot more adult with mature conflicts and developments, while still maintaining the fun element for kids! It's the perfect balance, while 4Kids messed up with having adult themes and childish behaviours meshed together. Those Turtles don't even act like teenagers which plays a major part in making a show appealing to all demographics: having our culture represented properly in today's society!
2K3 was not mature at all. If you want to see a mature 'kids show' watch Avatar, they even brought the same writers from that show to this. And it shows! :)

Considering how the Turtles are raised its not that surprising. Depsite what many people will have you believe the OT Turtles act more like College students than teenagers, or Highschoolers as I classify 2k12 with.

Because some fans think that having a dark tone/dark imagery='mature.'
And 2k3 definitely got away with some dark stuff on a channel that usually censors dark stuff like death, disturbing imagery, etc.

What disturbing imagery? They never showed blood or battle damage, they never showed anything they were hinting towards. There were no adult situations or themes, there was no character deaths on screen and even when there was, the show would completely ruin it by having it set in another reality or the characters weren't actually dead so what's the point?
2K3 is exactly like Man of Steel, both tried to be dark and brooding by having no color or likeable personalities to show that this was a 'dark and gritty' reboot. Both failed, but 2K3 gets a pass considering it aired on freaking 4Kids...
I have much more hope for Nickelodeons TMNT because this is the same network that allowed a double murder-suicide on screen in another supposed 'kids show' so there's a better chance of 2012 TMNT to go places where 2k3 couldn't!

Though I never said dark-=mature was right, I do think you're selling the 2k3 series a little short for what it was.

But the only true death they really showed was in "Same As It Never Was" and that episode wasn't show much on repeats if I remember correctly. And they axed "Nightmares Recycled" only because of the whole conjoined twins thing and didn't show "Insane in the Membrane" because it was too dark and scary. Yet Nick has shown dark episodes of TMNT with no problem.

Very true. Even if 2k3 got away with some stuff (mostly because it was never permanent like Shredder's decapitation, Splinter being impaled, and Same As it Never Was in general) there were some things that eventually could cross the line or went too far for a kid's how.
I guess what I should say is to more be on topic, while I enjoy 2012 for what is and doing it's own thing, I still slightly prefer 2k3 since afterall, I credit it for bringing me into the fandom, so there's obviously some bias. However, I can still acknowledge it's shortcomings to avoid being branded as a 'purist' and will even admit the 2012 excels in what it lacked in some areas such as humor and character dynamics.
That will be all from me. Carry on.

I do like both, but for different reasons. I think I liked the general overall way 2k3 was done, simply because I sort of liked the animation style and the at times, slightly darker tone to it, but I like the newest version as well, because well, I find it funnier, and in my personal opinion they come across more like teenagers...though I'm still trying to wrap my head around Jason Biggs and Sean Astin as Leo and Raph lol. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the 2012 version, but I was surprised by how much I do like it.
