View Full Version : TMNT movie will have flashbacks?
I think so, 'cause I was browsing IMdB today and suddenly noticed a new castmember in the list: Malina Weissman
And she is playing Young April. This could very well mean we'll get flashbacks. Maybe she already knows the Turtles and we see flashbacks of her 16 year old self meeting them for the first time like in the Nick show...could be possible.

Probably some sort of flashback, yes, but it doesn't necessarily have something to do with the turtles.
Or we get the years in chronic order, young at first and some cheap text telling us how many years later.
...
I think it'll be a flashback.

That way they won't alienate the young Nick fans with adult reporter April.
They'll please both generations of audience. Nice if true. :)

Could be that she had a rough childhood that toughened her up into that cliche I can magically kick everyones ass variety of April O'neil we sometimes see.

I dunno. Sometimes totally bogus stuff gets on IMDB. But this girl definitely looks like Megan Fox, and that'd be a weird mistake to make or lie to tell. I'm inclined to believe it.
What if it's a flashback to when April met the turtles at that age, and the movie picks up later? Like Mystique and Xavier in X-Men: First Class. That would be an interesting twist, since today's kids know an April who met the turtles as a child on Nick. And what if the flashback has like, 8-year-old turtles?! :tlol:

I bet they will have a scene where we see a young April being rescued by the Turtles, But given that she was young at the time, She didn't quite get a good look at her rescuers, Fast forward to present day and she hears reports of mysterious mask vigilantes stopping criminals around the city at night. She goes out to investigate and finds out those mask vigilantes were the same 4 turtles that rescued her when she was a child when they recognized her.
It'll probably go down something like that, Based on info that Will Arnett said in interviews, where April is trying to find out who these vigilantes are.
And then there is this other thing. If April first saw the Turtles when she was a kid, and April grown to be an adult, Wouldnt the Turtles be much older and no longer teenagers?

This is a good theory

I heard this other theory elsewhere, But I'll add more to it. What if young April lost her 4 baby turtles in the sewers? They could do a flashback when she meets the Turtles and come to the realization that they may have been the 4 pet turtles she had when she was a child before she lost them? That's another way to bring in her past connections.

The turtles could be 17 or so. And say Aprils just a reporter this time, and not an anchor. It could work with them meeting as kids.

IMDb is a great resource for cast and crew lists after a film has come out. Movies that haven't been released yet, not so much.
It's a user-based site. Meaning, I could add my name to the film. Now, it will eventually be deleted. Why someone would do this is beyond me. Maybe it's a cheap trick from whoever represents her to get some attention? Maybe someone's just trying to get their jollies off while seeing people react to this? Maybe, though, less likely, she is in the film? But, I wouldn't take this listing as anything concrete. In all likelihood, especially when you take into account the average percentage of false information that's listed on IMDb, it's probably BS.

" I think the best way to tell this story is by starting at the end, briefly, then going back to the beginning; then periodically returning to the end, maybe giving different characters' perspectives throughout. Just to, you know, give it a bit of dynamism . Otherwise it's just sort of a linear story (makes yawning gesture)"

Eh, maybe. :ohwell: As Powder said, the flashbacks could be very brief and could not have much of an impact in terms of plot importance, but could be a small yet significant point in April's character development.

And that's where your theory fails. We already know that the Turtles are teenagers, so there's no way she could have been saved by them at a young age.
Now, what I think may happen is that, like the Nick series, April's father has something to do with TCRI (perhaps he works there), Kraang, and possibly the Shredder, hence why we'll see young April in a flashback.
And with that said, Young April may have seen the turtles before, but probably prior to their mutation when they were still babies in a jar. Probably at TCRI where Yamoto Yoshi may have worked.
Because if the IMDB synopsis is anything to go off of:
"Aliens invade Earth and inadvertently spawn a quartet of mutated reptilian warriors, the Ninja Turtles, who rise up against them to defend the world."
TCRI and/or Kraang are directly responsible for their mutation.

IMDB is never a credible source, and that information has been confirmed fake for quite some time now.

Indeed. Once a movie is out, it's a worthwhile source...well...most of the time.
But for movies in production, yeah, pretty much rampant speculation.

The synopsis seems quite right to me.
Aliens invade Earth and inadvertently spawn a quartet of mutated reptilian warriors, the Ninja Turtles, who rise up against them to defend the world.
That could just be referring to the Utrom, Who are posing as humans, and running TCRI which manufactured the Ooze in the first place.

The synopsis is most likely purposely vague...because the person who posted it has no real clue what the movie will be like.
