View Full Version : Why did the Roadkill Rodney's never return?

The Roadkill Rodney's debuted in episode 2 and dragged the rhino and warthog from the zoo into the Technodrome. We later see Raph stab his Sai's into their heads and they fall off a cliff.

But they never return in the OT ever. Or in any other series.

In fact it was the Konami videogames that popularized them in TMNT II, III, Turtles in Time and Hyperstone heist.

I want them back.

They fell to the wayside. They weren't popular until quite a few years later, but not to any extent that warranted further appearances. It's not as though they really had personality or anything. I would've been happy to have them back too, though.

Roadkill Rodney - "You can't get rid of us that easy!"

OT Writers- "Yes, yes we can"

I miss them too. They were certainly better robots than a lot of others.

They should be introduced as another Baxter-bot after the Mousers.

They weren't even known as Roadkill Rodneys until the Konami game was released, so they were likely labeled as some white-headed droid robots. They probably just crashed of natural causes by Rocksteady/Bebop not knowing how to use them properly.

But what DID Rocksteady/Bebop know how to use properly?!? Lol...

Perhaps they run on a power source that takes up more energy than that of a single Foot Soldier. They couldn't be used due to the Technodrome's power problems especially during Season 3.

Alright, is it Roadkill Rodney or Rodney Roadkill cause I've always said Rodney Roadkill.

It's the former.

Does anybody know who exactly came up with that name "Roadkill Rodney"? Just curious...

They disappeared to the same place where the Mousers, Granitor and Rocksteady's helmet disappeared to.

As well as his camouflage trousers.

Forgot about those. And thanks to Teletoon Retro and the DVDs I've seenthe pilot episodes more than ever. D'oh!!

I think the arcade game or the NES translation started calling them that. The games sure loved to favor the first season enemies along with occasional newer enemies..

The arcade game never referred to them by name. (I should know; I was an arcade game repairman during the time the OT was first popular, and guess which was the most popular of the arcade games then!)

No. It's from Konami. That's what they were called in the Nes instruction books when you bought tmnt II the arcade game. They also named grantor and the tubular transports.
