What is your current living situation? And what do you do for a living? Me, I rent an apartment but I am saving for a house of my own. I am currently working in construction.
SysAdmin living in an apartment with my wife. We have the money to buy a house, but it's just not worth the risk just yet. We're also trying to determine the best living location (good school district, etc.)

There is already a thread for the second question:

Chicago eh? That's where I happen to be going tomorrow.
As for my situation, I live in an apartment. Before that, I've lived in three houses.

My three boys and myself live in a house that I rent, not in the situation to buy a house. I lived in an apartment a long time ago and would much rather live in a house. Having kids, it is nice to have a yard. I'm an RN.

Just me and a bunny in a very simple 1-bedroom apartment. Buying isn't a realistic option in my area for my income level. Alas.

I live with my parents in the house I grew up in. When I eventually move out, I'd like to live in an apartment though.

Just signed my lease renewal papers for my apt through 11/14. Rent only went up 20 a month. Considering I live in the area that Hurricane Sandy tore through, good apt's are getting harder to find and the rent started going up in the area due to all the people who had to relocate ASAP. It's kinda tough finding a nice place to reside in "Dirty Jersey"...

I currently live in a studio apartment by my self. First time with out a room mate that wasn't family. Before that I lived in a town house that was already furnished to save on cost. Now I have to go buy some furniture. Most of it is platic college dorm furniture. And I sleep on a futon that also becomes my couch and my primary sitting furniture.

Going on 9 years in what is my first house after graduating college and getting married. Live there with my wife and boy. It's 3 1/2 bedrroms with 2 baths and a fairly large finished basement that I converted into a theater. But as my boy get's older the house gets smaller so we are hoping to move next year. I've been working as system administrator for document control within a medical device company for the last 7 years. Heavy emphasis on quality control and IT.

I inherited my grandfather's home at the end of 2011, and have lived here since. Been working on improving it... so much work to be done and not enough time/money.

Been in an apartment with the folks for 13 years. When I eventually can afford to move out, I'll most likely end up in an apartment. Living on ones own ain't cheap these days, plus it's a real b*tch to make ends meet
House. May move to somewhere bigger within the next 8-9 years.

Live in a fourth floor flat. 2 bedroom with my wife and son.
Pros: amazing view, and no upstairs neighbours.
Cons: when people smoke in the building it shuts the elevator down, fire safety or something. Doesn't bother me that much but my mother-in-law is disabled and can't manage the stairs. She's also our chief babysitter, so it really messes things up at times for when we need her to watch Caleb at ours. I'd love to catch the dicks who are smoking but have had no luck so far...

Living in my own small apartment, top floor.
Perfectly happy with this sort of arrangement, I could never live in a big house.

At the moment a house, but it's my parents' home. I moved back in after I graduated in May. I've lived in an apartment for the past 5 years and I'm pretty much over that environment, and hoping to stay here for a little bit longer so that I can save up so when I move out again it can be to my own actual house. I know it's a bit of a stretch and financially would probably be a LOT easier if I was moving in with a partner, but it's certainly my goal for now (and even if it isn't realistic, at least when I move out it can be to an actual nice apartment and not like the grody places I've lived in before).

I still live in my house with my parents, though its a much larger one than the one I grew up in. Eventually I plan to buy a house whenever either its financially advisable or time to start my own family. My bedroom is larger than many studio apartments, plus there's a door that leads to a deck along with a downstairs swimming pool. I'd prefer a house since you can't store nearly as much stuff in an apartment, though I prefer to live close to big cities like I do now.
