Do you think that the reason why he fear from going topside because he doesn't want to get spotted by a certain person. A person who is not the shredder? Shredder is lot of things but he would at least fight him like a man. This other person however would probably be more content to hunt him down like an animal. Now what kind of person do we know who is just like that?

This guy maybe?

If he was capture by this guy then it can't be hard to imagine what traumatizing experiences he had to endure with this twisted little ****. And from all we know, he could still be out there looking for him:teek:

Interesting theory. Bishop is one original character from the 4Kids show that most fans wouldn't mind seeing in this series, I'm guessing.

Yeah because using traps and Splinter's own daughter against him is definitely fighting like a man...

About bishop, no. Honestly if that was the case Splinter would have warned the turtles about him. I could see Bishop showing up at some point now that we will have a new mutant/alien almost every week though. I mean, I think it's about time the authorities start looking into freaking ground zero of an alien invasion. Though, considering that they must have gotten a ton of reports of four large turtles fighting a giant dog like creature and a fish with legs in the middle of the streets, and they didn't do anything about it, they might not care about the invasion either.

I actually argued back and forth with the IGN writer that wrote the (horrible) review of the season finale because he knocked it by saying it was stupid that Splinter didn't want to go to the surface. I told him that I think his reason in that episode was because he wanted to protect April because he knew the horror of losing a child and that he couldn't stand the guilt if something had happened to April. I've always felt like in general Splinter's problem with the surface is that he feels like he has seen the worst that humanity has to offer and so he just created a world of his own where he could be in constant control. That's just my two cents though.

That would make sense but Splinter still sees himself as a human or someone who identify himself as one. I hope that there will be a episode that goes further deeper into this.

I like Bishop and hope he transcends to the new show.

As for Splinter, I think the finale already acknowledged that Splinter had not embraced his mutation, and looks downright ashamed when he revealed himself to Shredder.

I don't think any of the humans turned mutants are proud of their forms. Not Dogpound, Fishface, Snakeweed, Timothy... since they look like freaks compared to previous form. But they make do with what they have - super mutant powers!

Why am I remembering Mystique from X-Men 1st Class? "Mutant, and proud" ...

No, Bishop is NOT the reason Splinter is scared. It's obvious he's scared because of his pas with Shredder and the memories of when he was human and what he lost. Hopefully, Splinter will be braver now that he has faced Saki once again and that his sons will support him in this matter.

I would like to see Bishop on the show though at some point as it would be interesting.

I'm just really glad that April called him out at the end of the first season. I don't like the whole "My students, go fight the Shredder. And be home before curfew, I'll be here waiting." In the 4kids series, any time that there was a battle with Shredder, Splinter was right there in the middle of it.

I really hope they expand on this too. So far it doesn't look too good on Splinter that he sends his sons to fight the guy that killed his family while hiding out of... trauma? Shame? Not sure.

Shredder is lot of things but he would at least fight him like a man.

wasn't there an entire episode based on Splinter teaching the boys about "fighting fair" and that fighting like that means leaving a chance for the other guy to win?
The point being the enemy would never fight fair and that they need to do whatever possible to be the winners?

Sounds like a nice plot for fanfiction, but it doesn't hold up to anything the show has presented us. The Nick show loves to foreshadow future episodes, and there's no hint that any of the 4kids show characters will be showing up.

It's an interesting theory, I'd dig that. Don't think it'll happen, though.

there's no hint that any of the 4kids show characters will be showing up.

Considering the new series, like IDW's comic, is an amalgamation of things new & old, I think it's highly likely at least one 2k3 character will show up at some point. The Purple Dragons, for example, they've proven to be wholly incompetent. Perhaps they get a new leader in season 2... Hun. Just sayin'. :trazz:

Not a good theory. I mean, as clumsy as the Kraang are, there's no way Bishop exists in this world.

Splinter is just afraid of Shredder, mainly. Also consider that he used to be a man, no he's a freaky rat dude.

Would be pretty cool if Bishop did turn up in the Nick universe. He was my fav bad guy in 2k3.

I don't think Splinter's reluctance to go to the surface is because of fear, but because he lost everything. His home, family, name, and then his humanity. He pretty much shunned his former life, only coping by raising the Turtles as his students and sons.

EDIT: And I would love to see Bishop in the Nick series. He's one of the best new villains we've seen in recent memory.
