View Full Version : Silly things you have done in the name of the turtles.

I just thought this would be a funny topic :-)
The cartoon was in full swing when I was 11, and my best was 12. So we were OBSESSED with the turtles, the old cheesy adorable cartoon which I still love to death, so we were nuts.
I was in love with Shreadhead, and she fancied Don...
Well... We got grounded for like a month after she spent the night over and we snuck out of the house and went into the sewers to find the turtles, posting little sticky notes all over the tunnels with our addresses and names, telling them to go find us.
Yep, our parents were NOT amused.
Am I the only one who did such silly things?

that is SO cute!
I had a pet turtle as a kid, I think i got into the TMNT cause I would sit my turtle with me and make her watch it, I know, I had issues, I was a very lonely child, and with an overactive imagination
i thought she would like the show....

When I was like, 7, I used to slip little bits of leftover pizza into the sewer to make sure the turtles had enough to eat :)

i took a hit for leonardo when shredder was on the attack. hes still thanking me till this day. I told him not to thank me but to thank hard work and diciplin. without it i wouldnt have done what i done. leonardo took me to the lair to meet splinter. He was meditating so i didnt wanna bother him. i realy wanted to meet him though. But i did get to meet all the turtles. raph is nicer than yaw think. just a tad edgy sometimes. the turtles lair actually has one of those big things where you get in and jump. you know the ones with a net around it thats filled up with air. me and mikey played in that. Donatello was working on his inventions of course. i didnt realy understand what he was trying to tell me though. hes a little to smart for me. Casey wasnt there but i realy didnt think he would be . its not like he lives there. I did get a glimpse of splinter even though i didnt talk to him or meet him.

I remember something in the news about a few little kids doing the same thing, looking for the Ninja Turtles in the sewers. 'Course in this story, the kids ended up dying and it made quite a stur. Well anyway, I remeber always wondering if they lived in my nearest sewer drainage, but I never did go and check for myself. Something tells me I should be glad I didn't.

Hrmm.. lessee, what odd things ahve I done in the name of Turtledom:
- when I was 13, I dressed up as Mike for Halloween, to hand out candy. Yes, it looked really stupid since it was bascially a flat cardboard box shell over green street clothes. No, I did not go out in public!
- When I was 17, I was really into Breyer model horses. They also have little conventions and stuff for this hobby too. So in one of the model horse shows I went too, there was an "Anything Goes" class. So I stick my TMNT figures on model horses and try to stage something out of TMNT 3. To bad I didn't have a camera that could do close up shots back then, but it didn't win the class anyway.
- I became addicted to the TMNT after seeing all the online goodness dedicated to them. Or was it that they made me addicted to the internet...?
- I went into credit card debt after flying all the way out to San Diego, just to see Kevin Eastman and have him sign some of my comics in person at the International Comic Con!
Hrm... what else?
- I play the COOTS tape, full blast, with windows rolled down, while crusing through slow rush hour traffic. ...or was that Ninja Rap? :P

When I was 7 or 8 I won some goldfish at some fair they had for Earth Day (back when, y'know, anyone still gave a rat's ass about Earth Day), I think I had to toss ping pong balls into goldfish bowls and I got to keep the fish in whatever bowl the balls landed in. I ended up with three fish, and we also bought a little plastic fishbowl that had another fish in it, so that's four altogether. Care to guess what their names were? :P
They all died in less than four days and I buried them in the backyard. Guess their ninja training wasn't advanced enough to teach them how to survive for more than a week without croaking.

I'd say the silliest thing I did TMNT related was create my own TMNT toys made out of computer paper in the early '90s. Back then, I was bad at drawing them to scale so I'd have a really fat looking Michaelangelo and a scrawny Raphael. Eventually, I switched to notebook paper and learned to trace them so they looked better.

I had an orange goldfish named Michaelangelo. It didn't live too long though.
We and 3 of my friends had the turtle club. I was Leonardo and my friends where the others. Mikey had real nunchukus because he was in karate class. Raph had a real pair of hand me down sais. Donatello had a staff we made from wood. I couldn't get anything close to a sword though so I used a broken radio antenna. How ghetto is that? :)
We had different lots of woods around the neighborhood - 1 named for each of us. Leonardos Links, Raphaels run-about, Donatello's domain. We couldn't come up with anything good for M so it became Michaelangelo's movie theater. How lame is that? lol
There was this one kid we hated so we rode out bikes around and pretended he was Shredder. It was hilarious.
As for the side View Askew convo going on- I have Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and SIlent BOb Strike Back and Clerks Uncensored all on DVD. Clerks is still my fave, but I love them all. "I'm not even supposed to be here today!"

Hmm... that could be interesting. I can't help but shake the feeling though that April would be a lesbian, Leo and Raph's tension would be explained as repressed homoerotic love for each other, and Mikey would be a huge stoner.
I love Kevin Smith and everything but every once in a while he goes a little screwy with other people's characters when he gets the chance. Like his script for Superman. There were way too many sex jokes and gay robots for a Superman movie.

well, honestly, all and all I really dislike TV, having grown upn in the former USSR where we had 3 channels, all the freedom of cable and such is all new to me, and I watch most of my stuff on the computer, I will admit, I mean, I obviously I like TMNT better than the sitcoms, if friends or TMNT were on I know what i'd choose, I was merely making a point that in the long run, it's all unrealistic and not teducational so to say one is so much crappier than the other which someone i believbe said earlier, is kinda silly cause in the long run, they are all just good ple' entertaiment.

Any way TV is ment to be fake, and survivor isn't for everyone. But if you think about it, survivor is tries so hard to be reality TV, its completly fake. When does anything REMOTELY like that ever happen? We should have relaity TV of someones real life, buying turtles toys, watching turtles toons and playing turtles games. "E true Hollywood Story: Life of a TMNT Fan"
Now I am going to attempt to bring things back on topic. My friend Stef and I put the turtles masks on carried weapons and ran through the malls. Not onlyrun but do regular shopping too!!!

Hahaha, though it wasn't turtles, I read Three Musketeers when I was 6, so I wore my grandma's straw hat with a huge purple flower and a blanket as a cape, and carried a tennis racket as a sword.... I wanted to be a musketeer...
When I was into the turtles, I was 11, and I didn't want to BE a turtle, but I wanted to be a ninja, so I'd wear all black and "lurk" while my mom would shop, and when she'd be done and ask me while I was hiding somewhere in the corner of a store, "what are you doing Susie?" and I would say "Shhh, mom, I am a ninja, I am lurking and being invisible"
edit: I think I still do that :)

perhaps. perhaps. perhaps... ;-)
So today I went to Kids R Us with my nephew, he got nothing, I got my self a Raphael shirt in drak dark blue!
YAY! :-)
I was asking my mom and my cousin "So should I get, yellow, red, orange or light blue?" and my mom goes
"Wait, aren't you turning 22, or am I going senile..? :-P
But thats ok, my roommate thought I was insane last year when I covered our room with Labyrinth pictures of Jareth, so this is a step up ;-)

Well,I own,and still have my pet turtle from when I was 4.My aunt's mom had a neighbor down the shore and a week after my 4th birthday,he gave it to me.He used to baby sit me a lot when my family wasn't around my aunt's mom's house.I still have my turtle,I dunno how old she is.
Anyway, during the CBS series,I always used to chew on ninja turtle snacks with my Mikey doll during the cartoon.I still have that doll....somewhere heh... :goofygri:
There's this sewer top at the corner of my house, when I was 7,I used to step on it and yell out"DONATELLO!!!?".I was told by my cousin that I used to call for them down there.
I used to have these dreams about the turtles saving me,I still do once in a while.
Oh yeah, before I owned a video tape of the turtle tour,I used to rent it at blockbuster....again....again....again....again and AGAIN.I drove my dad crazy!
To this day, I still have across the room arguments about the Turtles in class. Most recently, during the 2002-2003 school year, in ceramics class, people were knocking the Turtles, so needless to say, 30 minutes later, I proved how cool they were.

Recently, this kid I work with was bashing the TMNT. He was calling Mike a pothead and Raph gay, so I had to set him straight.

I can see Mike being a pothead, but if anything I think Raphael would be extremely homophobic......
Of course, there are those who say homophobia is merely an attempt to overcompensate......
Either way............ damn it, I lost my train of thought. What were we talking about again?

Ok, I had a house down the shore that I shared with my cousins. It was a duplex, but we knocked the wall down in this one bedroom to give us access to the other house. Anyway, my bedroom was smack in the middle of the rancher, and you had to go through it to get to the living room to the kitchen.
Anyway, one night, at around 1 am, my cousin is walking to bed, goes through my room where I'm sound a sleep, and I shout out "TAKE THAT SHREDDER! HEEEYAAA!" And I start kicking the air. Needless to say I still havent heard the end of it.

just yesterday, I went down into the sewers. Pryed open the sewer cover and wala! It was fun covering my tracks by closeing the manhole behind me, and opening in like a ninja turtle. Didn't find any mutants or anything, but I took some pics, if they come out Ill post umm.

The lit was hard to get up the first time, I needed a crowbar type object to pop it out. From the inside though, it qas quite easy, both closing and opening it, just like you see in the cartoon and movies. It didnt smell to bad, but it was really, really hot! I doubt that the turtles wuold have been able to open it with their hands, being that their fingers are so fat, and that I could only fit one finger into the hole made for a crowbar.
