View Full Version : What's going to happen when Karai finds out that Shredder was lying?

I saw the finale, and I think it explained that Splinter met his long-lost, Karai. Well, I'm beginning that at some point in the show, she's going to find out the truth. What's going to happen when that happens? Will be ditch Shredder for Splinter? Will Shredder try to earn back her trust? Will she try to kill him after lying to her her entire life? I'm thinking that eventually, it'll all come back to haunt Shredder.
Do you think Karai will eventually find out? What will happen?

I believe she will eventually find out and come to terms with who she is, though it will take a long time for that to happen. I'm sure she'll be in denial about it even as Leo tries to get her on their side. Then the truth will come out somehow, and she'll eventually accept it and move on. As to whether she joins the Turtles or not, that remains to be seen. She may just go off on her own for a little while to try and come to terms with what has happened.
Then again, this is just my prediction. Only time will tell if it's going to be true or not.

Pretty plain to see that at some point she'll find out the truth and turn her back on Shredder and become an ally.
Karai has never really been a true "villain" in any universe.

I just got bit of a question though. Shredder did lie to her about being her father but to his credit he did take care for her. She would be angry about the lie but the fact that Shredder took her in might convince her that he cared more than her father cared about her. Splinter wasn't really there for her. She will try to get revenge by eliminating every one Splinter cared more for than her. Would that be a possibility?

she is better off with shredder than with splinter.. he raised her well.. look at what splinter does, he sends his boys out to fight without weapons.. hell he would not have gone and even fought shredder if april didn't spit the truth.. plus it's better to have a burnt man as a father than a rat.. lol

Yeah, it seems like a pretty good gig Karai has now. Gets to live in a penthouse, gets cool gadgets, probably no shortage of money, access to all the training she could ever need and all the bodyguards she wants... vs. living in a sewer with a scared rat and 4 Turtles who occasionally get possessed by bees and might try to kill you...

Yeah, but has she ever had love? A real concept of family? Many people would trade material things for the warmth of another.

I think Karai will join with the Turtles, it is almost inevitable. The question is what will Shredder do when this happens, how much does he really love Karai? Perhaps he will do something to her that he will regret, or maybe he will attack her. I mean if your daughter joined with your enemy’s what would you do? I think it would be interesting to see what Shredder would do with such an incident.

I don't think they will make it in such a way, that the good guys have 2 females kunoichi.. plus april and karai don't get along.. and with casey coming into the mix.. i have a hard time seeing karai fitting in with the turtles. just cause she finds out he is her real father doesn't mean she will suddenly change sides and start fighting the dude who raised her..
I think either she will accept shredder and continue to believe his lies.. or she will just leave and go back to Japan.. hell maybe she might even get mutated somehow?

Would Karai still return back to them after Leo and the others betrayed her in a truce, trying to kill his "father" in Enemy of My Enemy?
If it's me, I won't trust them at all. They broke their own words.
She'll be angry at the Shredder and she won't trust the turtles. She'll be off on her own imo.

the only way i see this playing out is the turtles finding out and trying to get her to leave shredder. her being in denial. having some revelation and runs away or leaves shredder but doesnt join the turtles. ends up joining the turtles in some last fight with shredder at the end of the series

I could see that.
Come to think of it, It would be cool to see a Karai who is neither good nor bad, it would be something new. I know 4kids was kind of like that but in the end she turned out to be a *Spoiler* good guy
She becomes a hero and scores her first ever GOOD toy.

Shredder took her away from her family as a victory prize and an act of revenge. He kidnapped her because she was the daughter of the woman he could never have and to raise her to despise his enemy, her REAL father.
I can see her blaming Splinter for not saving her, but it's understandable on both sides: She felt he didn't try hard enough to protect her, while Yoshi had lost him home, his wife, and all hope. How was he supposed to know that his daughter survived, let alone was taken from him.
Splinter might have failed Karai, but his actions were understandable and forgivable.
The Shredder? He may have raised her and brought her up, but at the cost of killing her mother and using her like a pawn to unknowingly despise and fight her he birth father. If she holds a grudge against the turtles for going back on their truce, lets see how easily she'll forgive Shredder for feeding her lies all her life for his own benefit.
If Karai won't turn on Shredder for Splinter's sake, you can bet she will for her mother's.
Actually, it would be interesting if she doesn't forgive either of them, not because of who was wrong or right, but because it was their worthless rivalry that took Tang's life and put Karai in this situation in the first place.
Another idea, Shredder may care for Karai because of who her mother is, but I wonder if her connection to Splinter will help him get over Karai possibly leaving the Foot clan.

I can imagine a bit of internal conflict ala the 4Kids seeries as regardless of his actions Saki did raise her. Hopefully it wont go on as long as that show.
I don't want her to straight out join the good guys. I think a good potential storyline is if she and some Foot who are sick of Shredder's vendetta taking precedence over crime break away from him and form their own Foot Clan.
It'd be somwhat reminiscent of the comics were it was established in 'City At War' that Shredder's Foot had severed ties with the Japanese Foot and Karai had come to New York to wrestle control back from Shredder's Elite. It would also be reminiscent of the Fred Wolf show second season were for the most part Shredder didn't have the Foot and Krang's resources and had to start from scratch with minimal help.

Lies. In the Videogames. SHe was a final boss in the Genesis Tournament fighters.
But yeah, she'll probably leave the Shredder's side and become like a neutral character.

Shredder did lie to her about being her father but to his credit he did take care for her.
For his own selfish vengeance, to raise her to hate her real father. Also, he killed her mother.

Would be cool if she finds out after she hooks up with Leo!
She will be like: "wait, you're my bro!?!"
Then both Leo and Karai don't forgive splinter and shredder for lying to them.. but they are madly in love with each other and they run off into the sunset.. Hahaha
Or atleast there is a kiss and then the turtle bros find out, and troll the hell out of leo for kissing his sister! It would be nice if someone other than mikey gets picked on for a change.

That would mean Splinter would never really get a chance to know who his daughter really is. So she is trully lost forever for Splinter. Its torture to know your child is alive but there is no way to get to them.

Eh, it's not really the same. The Turtles aren't related to Splinter, and it's not like they grew up at all with Karai... it's the long, long lost daughter of their adoptive father who never even had her in his care beyond when she was a newborn baby.

Beat me to it. I never played the Genesis version but she was the Boss in the SNES version. I love that game.

She'll probably become a standalone villain after she finds out that she doesn't want either side.

She will break off from both affiliations, become the leader of the purple dragons and slowly build an empire of her own.
Only to slowly realize that that isn't what she wants...

As I said in the other thread,
Maybe once Donnie cooks up an anti-mutagen to make Splinter Hamato Yoshi again, he could just blend in as a normal citizen in order to get close to Karai. But she doesn't know, he's both Yoshi & Splinter when they start spending time together. But the antidote doesn't last forever, he starts mutating to Splinter again slowly, but gives Karai a gift containing a picture of her true family.
But here's the thing. Remember in the TMNT when Splinter was captured by the Foot Ninja and Danny speaks with him in private until caught by Shredder? He's in chains, but Karai doesn't know Splinter was the same man she met until he reminds her.
He tells her the story of his past and doesn't know she's Splinter's daughter. Shredders catches Karai talking with Splinter and finds the picture in her pocket and gets furious showing his true colors.
Unleashing her sword, she thrusts at Shredder after realizing he lied to her. Fishface and Dogpound grab her and ordered to throw her in a cell, thinking that she served his purpose.
Lies. In the Videogames. SHe was a final boss in the Genesis Tournament fighters.
But yeah, she'll probably leave the Shredder's side and become like a neutral character.
She was also the end boss of the SNES version, a boss in Arcade Attack and it doesn't seem she'll go good in IDW.

Splinter and Shredder aren't really unalike in training their kids to achieve means on their own vendetta are they?
Reminds me of the over-obsessive parents who make their kids train 16 hours a day to become a chess grand master.
I found this on Deviant Art. I think it's supposed to be when everyone finds out the truth. Beautifully done. Credit to Lorna-Ka (http://lorna-ka.deviantart.com/).
