Generally I don't trust Latino Review but they have apparantly pics of the lair... looks a bit like the lair from the 2007 film.

My brain went to the 2nd (well the 1st MAJOR) lair in the 4kids series...especially with Donnie's bank of monitors.

If it wasn't them it'd be some other pizza company. They'd be fools not to seek a pizza endorsement.

Lair doesn't look too "out there," though I'm not sure about Donnie's Batcave worth of monitors.

The couch directly faces the wall-o-monitors. Meaning, that's where they play Xbox and watch TV.

I'm very curious if this pic implies they all sleep in their own individual...hammock thingies. Quite a different idea from giving them each their own room, but I'm kinda liking the concept. I liked the pizza box furniture before, but in this pic for some reason it looks a little lackluster. Whatevs. That wall of monitors is totally awesome so I approve :D

I kinda dig how patched-together everything is, but it's dubious how they'd acquire so many of those monitors in such good shape without lifting them off the back of a truck or something. Nobody'd just toss those out or anything. I get what they're going for, but that part is odd.

Awesome lair indeed. The Pizzabox couch is actually a fun idea, but since they managed to find about 20 LCD screens, couldn't they find an actual couch somewhere?

I'm taking the wall of monitors, the tons and tons of junk these guys have, and the crap-tons of pizza that passes through that place, as more signs that they're not taking things too seriously. That they aren't stopping themselves to ask, "How realistic is this?" Which I consider good news.

Leo656

It's still kinda silly, because like it or not, a good chunk of the audience is still going to wonder about it. It's not a *huge* deal, but they could have kept from going overboard and avoided the entire issue if they didn't have quite so many. Best Buy doesn't have that many.

Monitor wall is SICK. They have had something like that with tvs before. SO COOL. If you are gonna be picky lets assume they were all broken ones from a dump Donnie has fixed. lol thinking about Mikey bringing him a broken one, Donnie fixes it and Mikey comes back again with another one every day for a month. :)

CinematicESP

I'd imagine it doesn't really matter if the couch is comfortable or not, since the turtles probably couldn't feel whatever kind of surface they're sitting on because of their shells. I could even see April commenting on how uncomfortable it is or something.

TigerClaw
09-20-2013, 10:41 AM
As for the chair having skateboards attached on the back, I can see why that is.

The skateboards are curvy on the sides, So it would go around the shell as Donatello sits back while looking at those monitors.

I'm loving the look of the lair, as it shows a fun / teenager side to the boys which I think IS realistic. To me, the lair as shown in these pics still leaves me hope that this movie can/will treat the material as something "fun" without being too silly or too serious. I'd prefer a nice mix of both (similar to the '90 movie, but with maybe a tad more fun and action).

Still very eager to see what the turtles themselves will look like. Any drastic changes will ruin it for me.

I consider it another check in the Cool column. The leaked script was scary, in ways, and the casting of Megan Fox was off-putting. But everything I've seen has been fine by me. I think things are shaping up nicely.

fixed

Pizza Hut tastes like Frozen Pizza reheated many times over. And it has such little sauce. The only worse chain I can think of is lil' Ceasers, but at least you know you're getting terrible pizza for $5. It saddens me how easily pizza can be screwed up. Oh well.
I do like the couches though, it reminds me of an architecture project I did a few years back where I had to make a functioning chair out of cardboard. Naturally I made mine into a shell gaming chair that doubled as a workout bench when flipped. I should post pics of it.

Same! I dig this if it's official.
(OMG What am I saying?!!)
Although the practicality of using pizza boxes as furniture... funny as it is, I would imagine it wouldn't hold up well lol

But with how much Pizza they eat, it's easy to change, I guess lol.
They sure like their Pizza Hut! lol Kinda makes me wish they stuck with Domino's from the first film but in all honesty, Pizza Hut does have the better pizza, IMO. (Although Domino's does taste much better after they changed their ingredients)

Those are some big sushi on the couch facing the monitors, and it looks like Splinter's room is through a car wash-like door. As it is, I like the overall design of the lair, combing inspiration and originality. The street signs, pizza boxes, monitors, subway tunnels, what more could you ask for when presenting a Turtles' lair? The first movie was dark and realistic, the second different yet with a cool subway lair, the 2007 movie had a nice way to introduce in CGI, and the new one takes these and creates the absurdly spacious sewer we all enjoy.

I used to love Pizza Hut as a kid. Now.... Man, I swear they've changed it up a bit. Their cheese never used to such an unpleasant taste in my mouth.

I don't like Dominoes either, really. The pizza franchises I love, though, most of you probably would have never heard of because they are regional chains, not national.

10-02-2013, 08:22 PM
Pfft, give me Papa John's over either of those ANY day. Though I may be biased since I worked in one for over three years. But I worked at a Domino's, too, and theirs was just bleh. But I still believe PJ's is better than both.

Papa John's has the worst crust on any pizza from a chain restaurant.

MsMarvelDuckie
10-02-2013, 09:42 PM
And yet they're the only major chain that actually hand-tosses.... Domino's doesn't, and neither does Pizza Hut- or L'il Ceasar's. And everyone complains about them. There's a REASON for that, folks! It's THE CRUST!!!! Without a proper crust, all you got is a piece of bread with cheese and some sauce. Trust me, it takes NO effort to slap down a piece of pre-flattened dough onto a screen and shove it in the oven. Tossing it by hand and making sure it doesn't bubble up? That takes something called pride in what you're making. (They also use fresher ingredients- and that's NOT just some commercial crap- we had to keep ALL our products fresh or toss em out. That included "blown" dough, ie, anything that got above a certain temp.)

Eh, Pizza Hut Stuffed Crust for me if I had to pick. I mean, there's cheese in it. :o I'd slit someone's jugular vein with a safety scissors for a large stuffed crust all to myself.

But I haven't had pizza from there since then (I moved), and in recent years I've only heard BAD things about their pizza... so either something is very wrong with me for liking it or something about their pizza has changed.

This is why I prefer Papa Johns over any other around me, even as I get free the Pizza Hut I work at. Some people I know complain about the sweet sauce, but I say that is the way it should be. Other places just have way to salty a sauce used on their Pizza.

Little Caesars is the worst, if you ask me. Yeah, it's $5, and the pizza is ready to go, but it's so repulsive. It tastes like that bland pizza the school lunch room used to serve. They're another chain that I used to like as a kid. I'm not sure if they changed their ingredients or not, but I swear their pizza used to be better, back in their "Pizza! Pizza!" days.

Local places are always the best. There's this place in my town called "Guiseppe's". Holy lord. Best pizza I have ever had.

But if I'm going to choose a "chain", it's East of Chicago. Gotta love their taco pizza.

Exactly. Anyone's favorite pizza is more likely to be a local place, over a chain. Just like McDonald's isn't many people's favorite burger. This goes a hundred fold in a city like NYC. Fat chance ANYONE in New York City swears by Pizza Hut or Dominoes.

But, the promotional deal was destiny, so I can't really complain.
