Yes! I'm SOOOO glad I didn't buy those single DVDS. We're getting a complete box set in November! The 18th, to be exact. It's called "First Mutations". I'm so happy about this!

Well seeing as how the U.S. and UK have gotten all the exact same single releases (just with different covers) it's safe to assume that this will be the same kind of situation.

Great news, great news! That's one box set I definitely would love to have, and I know someone else who may like it.

I was initially planning to try getting the single DVD's, but this is so much better. Would be a great gift for "Sinterklaas". (Dutch Holiday at December 5th) I probably have to order it online.

Um, there's a big difference. In UK, there's four, US three. I'm betting this is only UK.

No. There's four DVDS in all, and both the U.S. and UK have them all...it's just that the U.S. has 3 and 4 in ONE set, while the UK spread them across two sets. We both got the same things, just in different ways.

Shouldn't the thread be sort of changed to "The UK box set is Coming in November?" Because it is kind of misleading, since there is no word of a US release of a boxset.

And, I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but just because something is released in the UK, doesn't meant it'll also get a release in the US.

Personally I don't think there's any need for worry. There's no way Nick is going to skip the release of the box set in the USA itself. It will be their largest market, and the release would be timed perfectly right before December/Christmas.

UK's Turtles Forever release was made by a company OUTSIDE of Viacom, Nickelodeon, and Mirage. So, technically, that doesn't count.

There's already 2 threads about this UK release.

Well, not two threads exactly dedicated towards it. I know one about the third volume, and another about speculating the release (it was made before info was even provided). And, like we've said, if it's UK, the big chance is that it will be released for the U.S. I mean, isn't the U.S where most of its market COMES from? It would be absolutely absurd not to release it in the U.S.

Yeah, I've been thinking that, too. We're certainly not getting it the same date the UK is. If we do, it'll be a real treat, but I doubt it. But it would be dumb if we didn't get this set anyway.

Ramboraph4life aka Matt
09-29-2013, 04:39 PM
Although, come to think of it, wouldn't a boxset of Season 1 be around $30?

So if you get the first 2 which are $10 a piece brand new on Amazon, and wait a little for the third one's (released I think October 1st) price to go down...would it not be about the same price?

That's not including getting these things used, so maybe even cheaper. I found the first 2 volumes used for $10 total (that includes shipping).

JH24
09-29-2013, 04:45 PM
^

You make a good point, but many people would (also) want the box set for their collection, or because they prefer a complete package over separate volume's.

If the third volume "Ultimate Showdown" was scheduled to be released in the USA on October 1st, then it could make sense why Nick hasn't announced the box set just yet.

They maybe want to wait a little longer for an announcement in order to sell enough copies of the third volume. If it was announced now people might decide to wait longer instead.

The box set for the USA might not be released on November 18th, but (like other members/posters have said) Nick would miss a huge opportunity if they don't release one before the holidays.

Wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. The UK has a whole bunch of exclusive merchandise, including a monthly magazine. & I think the Australian Back To The Sewer DVD set, German version of film 1 (the one that includes deleted scenes and director commentary), the EU Glen Fabry comic covers from vol. 2, UK Fast Forward blind bags, and tons of other non-US items would like a word with you.

....

The U.S. got all the single DVDs. So did the U.K. The U.K. is getting the box set, and the U.S. will most likely get it as well. I'm not saying that I'm 100% sure, but it's very likely.

Everything you mentioned except the magazine and the German version of Film 1 is NOT OFFICIAL the boxset, however, IS. Plus, like Donatello19 said, everything that had to do with DVDs that the UK got that WAS OFFICIAL, the US got.

Across three posters, you guys just mentioned my whole arguement. They. Are. Not. OFFICIAL. THIS is. Turtles Forever uncut was made by a UK studio that had nothing to do with TMNT beforehand. The OT got the special treatment with UK because of that whole "Hero Turtles" crap (I don't even think the DVDs were actually made with someone with the TMNT, either), and the BttS DVD is the SAME thing. THIS is official. THIS will most likely be released into the U.S, which, last I checked, has the biggest sales in merchindising!

You're not quite understanding.

It is completely possible, nay likely, that the US will see a series box set release at some point.

THIS IS NOT IT.

The US is not getting a box set on the 18th Nov. As it currently stands, no news on when it will.

There has been the possibility/probability of a season box set right from day 1 in the US - this news doesn't really change that either way.THAT'S what people are trying to explain to you.

I think it's almost guaranteed you'll get a box set in the US at some point though.

Looks like it's just a paper box with the previous releases shoved inside of it, from what I can tell in the picture. In that case, I'm fine with just having picked up the singles as they trickled out, supposing the US does get this set I mean.

Official... You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

Those are official releases for those items. What else would they be? Bootlegs??? I don't think so. TMNT is licensed by a lot of companies here in the U.S. and overseas. If a company holds a license and they release a product, it is an official release. It may just be that country but it is definitely an official release.

I don't think YOU understand. I never said the U.S version WILL come Nov 18th, I actually clearly said that I doubt we'll get one until December!

MS: Looking back at the Region 2 release of Turtles Forever, turns out it was official, anyway. But I do understand what you're saying anyway.

But that's uncut things. This is a BOX SET. Of COURSE they will release it in the U.S. Now, if it were some sort of Season 1 boxset featuring all these special features, looking into the past, I wouldn't say we'd get THAT. But go on amazon.co.uk, and most of the TMNT DVDs say "(US Import)" on them. If the UK gets anything, we probably will, too.

We GOT a Turtles Forever DVD. Period. We GOT a TMNT Film 1 DVD. Period. All these extras that come with the UK versions are great, just not great for us over her at the US. My point is, if they get a TMNT Season 1 boxset, we will GET one. Period. I can't say we'll get special features or not or even if we BOTH do, but honestly, the US is the most powerful part of their market. It would be retardical (if that's even a word. Probably isn't, but what the hell), to not!

That's my reasoning, at least. But on topic with topics that aren't arguments, it does kinda look like the volumes all bunched up together. Probably disc re-paints or something. I don't care, at least we won't have to go searching around for them all :P

BubblyShell22
09-30-2013, 05:02 PM
And how can you be sure the U.S. will even get this? There are a lot of things other countries have gotten that we haven't even though TMNT was MADE in the U.S. originally. I'm not going to hold my breath on this and stick with the single disc releases as it's easier for me to do. If we do get it, cool. But if not, then you guys are missing out by waiting for something that may never come our way.

Leo656

If it does end up being just the three single-issue discs in a flimsy box, who really gives a sh*t anyways? Lots of kids' shows don't get "competent" box sets. Sh*t, Best Buy has a Teen Titans "Collector's Set" that is *literally* just the six or so single-issue DVDs wrapped in shrink wrap, clearly done by someone in the store's stock room, with a sticker on it that says "Best Buy Exclusive Collector's Box Set!" Such high-end production quality will cost around $60, by the way. Just about what someone buying them individually would pay.

I mean, yeah, we could get something big and fancy and high-end, but there's no guarantee that any "Complete Season One" of the Nick TMNT show won't just be the three single discs bundled together for almost the same price as the combined individual cost. It'll probably be something close to that, which is hardly anything to shout about. I just care about having the episodes, so singles or box set makes no difference to me whatsoever.

True, I understand what you mean, but for some people (including me) a box set (even if just a collection of all volumes) would be great to have. Some people would like to have one for their collection, or prefer to have a box set instead of separate volumes, or even just enjoy the feeling associated with having an entire season in one complete package. (I had that same feeling with box sets in the past)

Yeah, in the end, having all the volumes would still mean having the complete season, but it would be nice to have a choice if they'll release a box set as well.

I was planning to order the individual volumes in November, but if I can order the box set online, I'll try to go for that one. Even if it's a collection of volumes I just enjoy having one package. And a complete box set is more fun to give away as a gift/present as well IMHO.

I think I did.

Anyway, I agree with Leo656. It probably will be just a couple of single-release DVDs mashed together in some cheap packaging, but at least it'll be something. I'd rather just buy all the releases at once shaving around $5 to $10 off rather than hunting for them and just buying them for more. That's just me, though.

I was initially rather excited by this thread. Not only would I be able to buy the complete first season all at once, I would be able to get it with some birthday money. Seeing as how the only confirmed full season set is for the UK, I'll hold off on getting excited till a similar set is confirmed for the US. Even if it's just the three individual sets taped together, it'll be something to be happy about. That said, there is no guarantee we'll see a full season set here in the states. We'll just have to wait and see.

You can say that all you want. Canada got full-season Blu-Ray releases of The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. America got terrible half-season DVDs with the episodes out of order.

And compare American 2k3 DVD releases with Australia's. They got Back to the Sewer, and America - the country of origin - never did.

It's silly to say that just because the UK gets a certain DVD release America will get the same thing.

Erm, not to start this up again, but the spiderman animated series from the 90s had a boxset. It was only released in the UK.

US release or not, this is worthless to me unless it's a Blu-Ray release. I don't see what all the fuss is about when these discs are already available. It's nothing new except for the cardboard packaging!! Who cares?!

The single volumes are £7 each in my local ASDA, so the entire season for £15 is something to make a fuss about IMO. Typically shows tend to do the "vanilla" releases and then add exclusive content to the complete sets, although this doesn't appear to be the case with TMNT S1.

No, what I'm saying is the only thing different is a piece of cardboard. It's not like the box set has any different stuff inside. Don't know why Collector needs his cardboard packaging.

I need the lower price. The volumes go from $7 - $12 each ($16 - $20 for Ultimate Showdown in US), and, (apparently Seeks knows something I don't about this release) will be approx. $20 if it were released in the US. So, if the two volumes were (let's meet in the middle, here) $9 each, and Ultimate Showdown was $17, that would be $35 in all, so that's a $15 dollar difference between if you looked for all the volumes or if you just waited to buy the box set if it comes out in the US. I can't be certain that the boxset WOULD be $20, but I'm just basing it off of the UK price. Still, it wouldn't be over $30, so even if it were $30, it would still be a five dollar difference. It might not seem like much, but it's savings.

raph27
10-04-2013, 05:47 PM
Oh. Well I got the first two for $15 in a multipack, and Showdown is $15. That's $30. I highly doubt a box set would go lower than that.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't know anything more than you lot! It's just the Sainsbury's site have the set listed for £15. :)

http://www.sainsburysentertainment.co.uk/en/Films-TV/DVD/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Complete-Season-1-4-Box-Set/product.html?product=E11275754

I am assuming it's actually the Season 1 of the Nick show? The listing is the same as I have seen on other sites [Seasons 1-4 instead of Volumes 1-4] and the release date is the same as the Nick set I believe. The artwork will have just been taken off Google, which Sainsbury's do often with [They tend to use fan covers for the Doctor Who DVDs, for example].

Yeah, internet sellers (such as Amazon) have this consistancy in thinking that it's by SEASONS instead of volumes. It really means volumes :)

Just checked Amazon.
Still not officially up, but shortly after the November release of vol 4, there is a Series 1-4 set coming out.
I think they messed up the description. I believe that is Vol 1-4, and it will indeed just be the 4 individual releases in one box.

Still, I'm holding back on that inevitable bluray release.

Oh, you have to see the price being asked for the OT van collection !!

Lol, I wish! Off the top of my head;

April's rescue - she just appears with them on the rooftops

Leo blowing up the wall of rats - cuts from him going to draw his katana to te explosion

Leo showing Splinter the picture of his family

The may have been more smaller cuts but those were the real noticeable ones. This episode was really butchered for TV here, which is strange as Nick UK were getting better (The Gauntlet appeared to be unedited).

It says the Studio Name is Warner Home Video. What does Warner Bros. have to do with the new show?

Plus I look at the description: No photo of the set, no information on the set, no information on where the set is available, no information from any other website about anything involving a Blu Ray set of the show even in the works much less already available.

I say it's a red flag sadly.

Picked this up today for £16 in Asda. It is simply the first 4 DVDs in a slip case. It's nice enough and the price means I won't feel too bad double dipping if a Blu-Ray season set comes out.

Episodes appear uncut which is great.

One question for anyone with the UK Rise of the Turtles DVD, did you have a problem with subtitles? My DVD player plays the disc fine but my Blu-Ray player defaults to subtitles and won't let me switch them off! It's really annoying!

hey chris, this may not be very helpful to you but perhaps a lil heads up...I had this problem with my dvd player once...only one dvd(predator) he wouldn't turn off the damn subtitles..I've played this dvd then in another dvd player at a friend's house and voila it played just fine without no subtitles at all...
so in hindsight it must have been my player in combination with this product(this very dvd disc)...I wish you good luck so that you can enjoy the toitles without em!

Chris
11-21-2013, 01:05 PM
Sadly I think you're right, it's a player/disc combo.

The subs aren't listed as a feature so I don't think they should be on there. There's no menu on the disc to turn them on/off and because it's not meant to be an option the subtitles button on the remote won't work. When I play the disc in the DVD it plays correctly (without) and won't let me turn them on. Sadly the Blu-Ray player is detecting the subs and for some reason is playing them by default. Don't think I can solve it without getting a new player :tsad:

Got a call today from the toystore, they had just received volume 3. I picked it up near the end of the afternoon.

I haven't been able to really sit down yet to watch volume 2 or 3, but hopefully I have a chance to watch some episodes this weekend. Looking forward to it.

Only small nitpick I have is that the cover and descriptions on the DVD case are in Dutch/French, and contain quite a few translation errors as well. But I can choose the original English voices for the episodes, and that's all that matters in the end.
