View Full Version : Should Angel be introduced in this show as a love interest for Casey?

With the April/Don/Casey triangle going on, maybe they should add in Angel as a love interest for Casey. She would be a Purple Dragon member like she is in the other two universes but also like Casey from her childhood.
Casey is always shown to care for Angel so it may work.

Why not? It might be a relief (and a welcome change) from the irritatingly default Casey/April couple for a while. :)

We've already got April/Casey/Donnie, Leo/Karai, and with Irma showing up who knows what will happen...does every female character introduced need to be a love interest for someone? Come on...

Yes, but she doesn't always have to have a male love interest.

No, I don't want her to be interested in Casey. Not every female has to have a love interest. Please, stop with the matchmaking!

How about Angel is introduced as Angel, and not another female pawn whose only purpose is to serve as eye candy for a guy?

People are complaining about too much love triangle war going on with the inclusion of Casey between Don and April.
Now you want to add another "love interest" to the mix? LOLOLOLOLOLOLLLOL

Can't we have a strong female character that ISN'T a love interest for someone else? Besides, like everyone else says, there's already that dumb Don/April/Casey thing going on, as well as Leo/Karai. No. Just, no.

Actually, Yes, according to the unspoken, unwritten, but nonetheless official "Rules Of Fiction Writing", which go all the way back to when people were first writing fiction stories to begin with, every single female character must at SOME point be paired up with someone else, because 90% of what human beings do in life, from where they work to how they dress to how they speak, is designed at least in part to help them attract a suitable relationship partner and in turn pass on their DNA through offspring. It's human psychology mixed with human genetics. All fiction writing tries to appeal to the broadest, most identifiable human experiences possible, thus all female characters *must* at some point be shown in a relationship, even temporarily.
In Hollywood it's actually a literal, written, nigh-unbreakable Rule: Every movie that's meant to "sell" absolutely HAS to have a relationship plot added to it. That rule has long-since trickled down to TV; it's far easier to list the shows that DON'T try to pair everyone up with someone else. It's just How It Works.
That said, I wouldn't be against Angel appearing as Casey's potential love interest, I'd be against her appearing because this show has too many characters as it is (and slightly too much romance as it is, also).

Yes, if a female character isn't a damsel in distress she is usually a love interest. Either that or the female character is introduced for no reason.

And lest we forget, the entire point of a damsel in distress, in turn, is usually to become the love interest of whoever rescues her.

Make her Xever's sister who grew up with him in an orphanage, but was separated after Xever joined a gang and end up in prison.

That's actually a pretty cool idea. Xever and Angel being related would make sense for her being a Purple Dragon member too.

(also make her younger so she can't be a love interest)

That's basically how most women are portrayed in shows, for better or for worse. Especially when they're secondary characters. The only way the women would be single is if it was a show for girls, like April, Karai and Angel, Ninjas for Hire, where they are the main characters and there are no mutants in sight.

They can also explore Xever's past and make Angel his weak spot, like he regret Angel following his footsteps and wanna protect her from being used by Shredder. That way we can establish a different kind of triangle between Xever, Angel and Raph. Raph and Xever both wanted Angel to quit Purple Dragon, Xever might wanna redeem himself as brother by getting in the way of some of Shredder's operation, and somehow he trusted Raph to talk sense into Angel. Just me though, don't really think Nick would add too much layer to a single character, but heck, they just might surprise us with something else, who knows.

Having Angel be related to Xever would be awesome, though I would think Xever would want to lead her on seeing as how he joined the gang himself. I could see Raph trying to talk her out of it and trying to be her big brother figure since her other brother isn't there for her anymore.

What was Angel's nationality supposed to be anyway? In the 4kids show she didn't have any particular accent, but I see a lot of people think of her as hispanic.

well (in the above picture with April)I drew her African American...or mixed.
I kinda got inspiration off of this picture.

I could never tell in the cartoon until the wedding episode, and then it looked like she was Hispanic to me. It wouldn't matter to me though what nationality she was in the new cartoon.

I always thought she was a Black/Latino mix. Sort of Like Elisa from Gargoyles. (And in New York, that wouldn't be too uncommon.)

Elisa's father was Native American, not Latino. They even make a whole episode exploring his Native American heritage.
Considering IDW brought her back, they should. Maybe bring in Zach and Caitlyn as well (if they own the rights)?

Oh gosh no, we already have an unneeded love triangle, this would just add more drama the entire season. This season should be about plots for the turtles and Shreeder, why did they add this?

Bringing in Angel would be awesome and help the unbalance of male/female characters.
Although we know we're getting Irma's return, we don't know what part she plays. She could be as important or as featured as the Sushi chef.
Karai is important to the story with Splinter and Shredder's story and for whatever reason April's "mental energy" is important to the overall plot thus far.
Maybe NOT have her a love interest or at the very least give her the "Judge Anderson" dynamic to Casey Jones "Judge Dredd" (For anyone that has seen the 2012 movie) meaning that they could both be from the street, both fighting (maybe she could be an ally through the Purple Dragons as focus as seemingly shifted away from them and to the Foot and Krang) but without some weird young love romance subplot. Let's give it a break before the entire foundation of the show is build on a wobbly foundation of love triangles and angst and less about the overall drama and unusual circumstance the show has given us so far.
It be nice if she was a little older too...

This to the max. Enough love interests!
I'm even sick of April/Casey and S2 hasn't even premiered yet!

Given that this is her grandmother (see below) is definitively coded as Black, and that her brother appears rather light-skinned, "biracial African American" seems to be the best bet. That doesn't mean that she can't also be Latina, but there's no particular evidence pointing towards it.
