View Full Version : Season 2 Premiere excitement level compared to Season 1 Premiere
With the Season 2 Premiere a week away.
With is everyone's excitement level for the beginning of Season 2, compared to your excitement for Season 1.
Are you more excited because you were more worried than excited about what these Turtles would be during Season 1 and now that you know, you're ready to go?
Are you less excited because the Turtles coming back was just such a big deal that further seasons just don't compare to the Series Premiere?
Or are just excited incomparable from one season or another?
Your thoughts.

Obviously everyone was more amped for the premiere of the series itself.

I'm pretty excited, but I would agree that I was much more excited at the series premiere than I am the season two one. I'm liking what the show has done so far for the most part, but there are some things that I don't like as well, so that's part of it.

I think I'm more excited this time around. Didn't know what to expect at the beginning but went into it with an open mind. Now just a week away from season 2 and having been teased with some interesting tidbits here and there, I can't wait.

Looks like I'm the first vote.
"Most Excited".
As some of you might remember... when I joined, I hadn't seen one episode of the show and the Rise of the Turtles DVD had been out at somepoint too.
I just didn't have a high desire to watch the new show because I wasn't crazy about the looks or the changes made (Like making April a child, Splinter's design, etc).
Many of you were like "give it a try" and I just really couldn't see myself diving into the show as I have with a few other shows, like Venture Bros, Avatar, or Korra. I even tried to watch a rerun on TV, which I believe was the Leatherhead arrival episode, and I couldn't sit thought it. I thought the animation looked choppy and I was right in the middle of a brawl (it's possible the choppy animation was actually the broadcast and not the show as it wasn't something to notice in any episode on any disc). I didn't watch too much though and continued channel surfing. That moment also kinda "hurt" my expectations (if any) for the show.
So I bought the first DVD because of you guys and gave it a try and it caught me and slowly build me up as the show evolved. I just concluded the final episode, Showdown, finally and I'm really excited for the new season. Although I may not be able to watch any new episode until they get DVD releases... As it stands I havn't been able to catch any reruns anyway and some of our guide channels seem to be set in different time zones from when our guide says a show is on... When I did try catching TMNT on Nick, according to my guide channel, it was some kids bubble guppy mermaid thing. When I was trying to look at the hourly breakdown of the channel and looking backward to what played before TMNT, I saw that the show that was playing was 3 or 4 hours ahead of when TMNT would/should actually be on.
Not all the channels do that but we have no way of controlling that... that's though our cable provider.
Anyway...
Hell ya!
I would say a bit less excited but still really looking forward to the premiere. The characters have been established and overall we have a feel of what we can expect from this series and its world.
Well my excitement is more by default. I had never remembered the series had even premiered, so I missed about the first half of the first season when it aired, I caught on about episode 15 and got hooked from there, so this is my first time being around for the premiere hype of the new show.

I am substantially less excited. It would be nice if the last season finale ended on a cliffhanger, and this new one would finally resolve it, but the previews we've gotten make it look like it's going to be a mutant-filled gag series. Not that I mind watching it, but I don't suffer from waiting. Moreover, last season let me down with its excessive amount of one-note villains.
I do look forward to Ice Cream Kitty, though.

Far less excited. Everything we know about Season 2 so far seems, "mutant of the week" with the writers bringing in tons of mutants for no reason.
I'm looking forward to Casey and Slash, but all the rest of these mutants leave a bad taste in my mouth.

More excited after I've seen the potential the show has!
The world's newest TMNT fans are also excited!

Definitely more, cause I started watching in April 2013. That was my first entry into the franchise. When S1 came out, I was like, ehh, a new version of that show. Wippee.:tlol:

I'd say the same kind of excited as I was for the premiere. Any time the Turtles are on TV, I always wait in anticipation of seeing something awesome. As leery as I was about the first season before it aired, I was still excited when it premiered and wasn't disappointed as I kept watching. So, yeah, same level of excitement this time, too.

About the same. I think season 1 was a good indicator of the caliber of the supposed "mutant of the week" stories. I have faith that they will still be successfully executed despite the assumed cliche.
I am more excited. I was unsure what to make of the series before it launched...I wanted it to be good, but wasn't sure. Now I know it's awesome and I just want more!

I'm more can't wait. The first season won me over for sure but wasn't as sure it was the thing to see even though it was.

With the first season premiere, it was because it was the series premiere, so I think my "excitement" was more curiosity than actual anticipation for it since there's was so much worrying amongst the fandom about how Nick would handle it, and especially with Laird selling off his rights/ownership of the franchise. I think most of our "excitement" was simply due to the fact that the franchise was being revived after 3 years from Turtles Forever, so the expectations were hazy.
With this second season, I feel confident that the show is doing well and the stories will be good, but the characterization of the Turtles hasn't captivated me just yet to those inner enthusiastic highs I feel when watching/reading about the Turtles. I think my biggest hang up was seeing these Turtles not really fitting into the roles we were used to in most depictions of the Turtles because of their immaturity (immaturity beyond explanation for their age in some cases), but then I noticed some episodes where they were showing very gradual character growth which does give me some hope. ...But personally I think its a bit too slow though and there are still some aspects of their personalities that just don't fit well to my tastes (i.e. the show's stronger focus on Don having his "crush" on April which is appearing to overshadow Don's and April's individuality, the season finale's overemphasis on Leo's solitary heroism destroying TCRI and bringing down the Technodrome, the lack of sympathy from the Turtles for Timothy's mutation, and Mikey still being dumb [not naive or quirky] for humor sake).
So in other words, it's about the same. My curiosity of the first season has been transformed to more of "wait and see" standpoint for this second season. I still look forward to it and want to catch each subsequent episode, but I can wait seeing it 2-3 weeks after it already aired though.

Regarding the mutagen and new mutants, I'm feeling the same way about that. I'm not really looking forward to that storyline much, especially if they're going to use it a lot as filler, but hopefully the episodes themselves will still be fun.
I'm especially looking forward to Casey and his interactions with Raph/April/Donnie, the introduction of Tigerclaw and hopefully some nice developments regarding Splinter/Shredder/Karai/Leonardo.
I had hoped the focus would shift from the Kraang to the Foot Clan/Purple Dragons because I felt the Kraang got too much exposure in the first season, to the point I didn't care for them as villains anymore. But with all the mutagen dropping around I guess that's not going to happen.

This show needs to impress me...the first season started off well, but I find it trailed off and gradually I realized this felt more like an irreverent parody of the TMNT rather than a really inspired attempt at it. Some of it just too dangerously close to fanfiction territory or delves too much into cliches of fictional storytelling that I've seen handled better on many other movies and tv shows. I don't want this just being a toy parade, but the "mutants of the week" thing might just condem the show to that.

I agree with some of that. I want to see the turtles fight real humans.
And i also want some human characters that won't be mutated.

It's disturbing that every human character in this show is becoming a mutant other than Shredder and April/Karai.
There was no need to mutate April's Dad.

Stupidly excited. :D
I'm reserving actual judgement until I've SEEN each individual episode.
I think we all need to calm down with the negative assumptions because we've had concerns before and most of it was unfounded flapping in my opinion.
If you go into the series convinced it'll be naff, you're less likely to enjoy it.
I almost get the feeling some people WANT it to fail.

The only thing I'm really excited about at this point is seeing Casey since I love that crazy freak. And even HE has been tainted for me since we all know some kinda crap is gonna go down pertaining to this whole April and Don mess. Oh. I guess I'm also kinda excited about seeing the guys as toddlers (which I'm assuming we'll see at some point according to the toys).
Not much else though. I really don't get 90% of this forum's creepy infatuation with Irma, and while it'd be cool to have another girl on the show...well, she hasn't even showed up yet and people are ALREADY pairing her with Mikey. Ugh. Just. Ugh. Gag me with a spoon please. We've seen a crapton of mutants that are going to show up, and I'm already really bored of them. Can we get back to Leatherhead, Dr. Falco, Rat King and Newtralizer? That's PLENTY "extra" characters to keep the turtles busy outside of the Shredder, Purple Dragons and the Kraang.
It's disappointing because I was seriously stoked for the first season. Before it started there was a lot of reservations about it, but I was just so excited to see the turtles again that I was going into it all with open arms (well, I wasn't THRILLED that April was going to be a teenager, but hey). And yeah, it did surprise me. But not because I was omg! blown away by it's awesomeness. But because I couldn't believe something that I was dying to see could instead turn around and make me almost not want to watch it all. I'm still going to watch it of course, because there ARE still gems that I quite enjoy (The Gauntlet, Parasitica, their interpretation of Rat King, Casey's overall design), but I can't say I'm bouncing off the walls like I wish I was.

Yes I am looking forward to it sort of but as mentioned already the mutant thing is getting tedious. Some people on here said that the 2k3 show is inferior to the 2012 one. I think that's bullsh*t.

Not as excited thus far, it doesn't seem like Season 2 is going to improve upon Season 1, it just feels like more of the same.
The Kraang are still around creating endless mutants, the status quo hasn't changed since Season 1.

Not too terribly excited really. I loathe the Don/April/Casey and rather April not hook up with anyone. The Mutant of the week formula implies alot of Krang episodes and I've had just about enough of them for awhile. Sadly the Turtles blood enemies are filler villians in this show, more so with how easy the Turtles beat them around. Nick Shredder to me is very boring not as active as his OT and 2K3 Counterparts mostly just sits on his throne and bark orders, or make empty threats. And any villian in this show seem to become Mutants just because the writers seem to think only Mutants can give the Turtles a challenge. I wouldn't be too surprised if we started mutating the normal Foot soilders now.

I'm very excited. And I can't imagine how people on a discussion board devoted to one of the campiest cartoons of all time could be b!tching about a show that is truer to said campy cartoon's darker, grittier roots.

I'm excited, as long as I can get past the stupid speculation. I mean, the world isn't going to end if April doesn't go out with Don, Mike doesn't get serious, or Leo and Don don't butt heads. Let's just wait and see what happens. It's fun to speculate, but I'm tired of that now.

I'm pretty pumped! Looking forward to more mutants, Casey, Leatherhead's return, Tigerclaw, Mutagen Man, Slash and seeing everyone back. I love this series and it's the best animated TMNT toon/fiction to me.
I was really excited for that first season.
I had the coming up trail on my iPhone and loved watching it.
I guess that the premise if the new show, with cgi, a new theme, new look, etc was cool. The second season, I'm looking forward to, but there's not the same newness about it. There can't be.
I was just as excited to see the Beware the Batman a few weeks ago, and was not disappointed.
Back to S2. I guess I'm expecting a good show, and have faith in the writers and production team as a whole.

I'm way more excited. I hate to admit it, because I was way off, but before the show aired I thought it was gonna blow. It took seeing it for me to realize how good it was. That said, knowing how good a job is being done with the series, I can't frickin wait. It's gonna be gewd! I especially can't wait to see if Raph and Casey develop as friends. That would make this show even better. We'll see what happens.

I wonder how many nonbelievers like us were around when the show premiered. I was insanely skeptical - in fact I downright dismissed it after watching the series premiere. But after watching the next episode, and then the next, and then the next, I became hooked.

I'm sure we weren't alone by any stretch. Seeing the aesthetic of the show when we caught our first glimpses, I was very skeptical and then episode one hit and I thought it was ok and then like you with each one I got more into it. Season 2, if they keep with how well they've done, should blow us all away.

I'd say about even. The first season of any revival of a popular franchise will always have some novelty value about something that was great coming back with another attempt. Nick gave us the first CGI TV series along with the first new Turtles episodes in three years, along with the fact that the new Playmates figures were released prior to the premiere. Season 2 lacks that novelty, but the great plot development and enjoyment of the first season allows me to build momentum for the start of the new season, along with some of the new details that will be delivered.
Season 3's buildup will be interesting depending on how the movie turns out and of course how Season 2 plays out.

I wasn't here for the premiere of season 1, so I really don't have anything to compare it to... But I'm super stoked. I just saw the "Ninjas in New York" featurette on itunes. They recap events and battles from season 1 to set up season 2, including April's capture, the first battle with Shredder, Xever and Bradford's mutations, the battle with Newtralizer, and Leatherhead's dissapearance into Dimension X...
All I can say is...
