Ninja Rap remake in the new movie?
I read about that, Though he's a little too late since the film is in post production. But I wouldn't mind if he did a remake of the Ninja Rap for the soundtrack.

I'd allow it. But only as an acting role. Not another concert scene...that was awful

Vanilla Ice wasn't in the original cartoon, which seems to be the only source of inspiration for this movie, so I'd guess that chances are slim we'll be seeing that.

But only if he rapped. None of that rock n' rap stuff he's been trying for the past 10 years.

I don't think there's any danger whatsoever of Vanilla Ice appearing in Ninja Turtles Part 5.
But he should. That movie should go down in flames, in style, as the culmination and epitome of everything that is wrong and creatively bankrupt in the mass media TMNT.

To be fair, Eminem bothers the hell out of me. Only partly because of his juvenile "rapping" skills, more that he's a junkie, drug dealer, gang-banger and all around criminal and piece of garbage, but gets to be a celebrity because he has a "potty mouth" sense of humor and sings about his kid in between bragging about his drug habits.
That, and he once insulted a friend of mine. Yeah, I can't stand that sonofabitch.
More to the topic, Vanilla Ice is up there with Venus as far as "Things we mostly all wish never had anything to do with TMNT" and I'm shocked anyone would *want* to see an homage to that.

Uh, he's admittedly had several drug addictions and associates with a number of less-than-reputable people. Sorry if you like his music (really, I mean it... It's generally the best practice to divorce the artist as a person/personally from the actual art.
Eminem's latest stuff doesn't do much for me but he was an innovative rapper at a time when that was really becoming a dying breed... and there's no one else that can really do what he does out there. And he's taken his lumps to get where he is. I can respect that.

You're right to a point - I do have to accept the fact most of my favorite musicians have done lots of drugs and had sex with lots of girls way younger than 18, or else just stop listening to music entirely - but the fact is the guy talked sh*t to a friend of mine in a story I don't feel like getting any further into, and the fact that so many people treat the guy like some kind of hero disgusts me as a human being, since by my barometer the ability of a person to talk quickly and go to great lengths to make things almost-rhyme isn't that big a deal.
Plus he made fun of Everlast's heart problem. Which just ain't right, even if he *did* apologize later. Pretty sure it was a fake apology and that he is just that kind of guy.
To show I'm not entirely biased, I *do* like the song "Bad Influence", but as they say, "The sun even shines on a dog's ass some days."
Feel free to ignore this part since it's off-topic I'm kind of just thinking out loud, but since we're talking about divorcing the "art" from the "artist", I do often have a hard time with the general attitude we have, the "Michael Vick Syndrome", that as long as a person entertains us, they get a pass to be a scumbag (or worse, get praised far more than the average person). I mean, John Lennon hit lots of women, by his own admission, but nobody ever says "He was such great guy, *except for that*", they just say he was a glorious human being and not at all a gigantic hypocrite. But I kind of feel like regardless of the songs he wrote and sang, it means *more* that he did stuff like that, and I wish people would be more objective about it, y'know? I mean if you have to like their "art", fine, but don't seriously glamorize or praise these people. Seriously. Shouldn't we have higher standards as a species? I'unno.

I am soooo with you on that. I feel the same way about Orson Scott Card, no matter how "good" many people consider his books. As a PERSON, he disgusts me, and so I have much less respect for his work. (Which I'm not even really a fan of, as I feel the idea of glorifying having a bunch of kids being shoved into a military program intended to wipe out an alien species- never mind that they are trying to do the same to us- is just...WRONG.)

I don't necessarily think the movie will be terrible - could be, though - but of all the potential "throwbacks" to old TMNT stuff, having Vanilla Ice would be probably the worst and most nonsensical. Why celebrate something 99% of the fans now wish had never happened? Why remind them of something we'd rather forget? Because it's "funny"? It's not, at all. It wasn't even funny THEN! It completely dated the movie and turned it from a passable piece of comedic cinema into yet another example of "God, how LAME were we back then?!" Why would we want to go back and reference that?
I mean, this isn't like having Jack Larson make a cameo in a Superman movie, this is some washed-up non-celebrity clinging desperately to the one thing people still remember him for (besides going broke) and trying to cash one more paycheck. Don't feed the f*ckin' beast, man.

Yeah, this. Generally to the average joe if you mention TMNT II, the person will go, "Oh right, that's the one with Vanilla Ice, isn't it? LOLZ! How embarrassing... for the people who made it." Do you really think the people involved in TMNT Part 5 are itching to make the answer now be, "Wait, which one? He was in two."

True, but it's often forgotten that at the time, many saw The Beatles as just some fluffy, emasculate novelty act only successful because of their sex appeal. History has debunked that notion, but I often wonder whether their popularity influenced others to keep doing the boy-band thing in the future.
Vanilla Ice is an interesting case in that he never wanted to be the teen idol SBK made him into, but they were the ones who bought his music, he and his mother were poor, and somehow it clicked on some level with the pop crowd; however forced. I still like Vanilla Ice; he's far down the list of rapper talent but he's led quite an interesting life that attests to the madness of the celebrity industry. As to him being the Justin Bieber of the 1990s, well, he has competition. I'd put N-Sync and the Backstreet Boys in that designation; also Leonardo DiCapprio, though he wasn't a singer.
Eminem is definitely white, definitely offensive, and definitely the face of the ugly rustbelt, as has been mentioned here. What has been ignored so far is that he's definitely talented. The way he rattles off long words and throws them together constantly impresses me, and unlike most black rappers, Eminem doesn't constantly fall back on bad grammar to make it work. As to my opinion of him, well; I hated him at the height of his popularity. Back then, I wasn't a big rap fan in general, so to me, Eminem was nothing but a crass attention whore along the same lines as Limp Bizkit, Blood on the Dance Floor, etc. Nowadays, my opinion of him has risen; partially because I like rap music now, and can see why he's considered one of the best, and partially because he finally matured and seems a lot nicer these days.

Citing from the site:
While chatting with the rapper (a.k.a Robert Van Winkle) about his new TV show, "Vanilla Ice Goes Amish," he was ecstatic about the upcoming 2014 Michael Bay "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" project. A self-proclaimed "Ninja Turtle at heart," when we asked him if he'd like a role or cameo in the new "TMNT" he practically jumped out of his chair.
"Hell yes! 'Secret of the Ooze' is the highlight of my life and I'll never top it!"
I strongly doubt he ever said that. He was a successful rapper in the 90's and ninja rap was the highlight of his LIFE? Come on......

For the longest time he resented his music career, so I wouldn't be too surprised if having a cameo in an iconic property's film was a stand out moment, even if it did involve a performance. He does have the TMNT tattooed on his body, after all. Besides, he was probably just trying to show the new film folks how enthusiastic he is, doesn't mean it's true.

Rap music has always been associated with the turtles and having that continue in the new movie would be cool. As to whether Vanilla Ice can come up with the magic is another thing. However if he wants a small role like maybe getting beat up by Kevin Eastman or something then sure why not.

I would have loved it if he was the pizza delivery guy for a second or something.

Nope it is DEFINITELY legit for him to feel that way. That scene is dope.

It was dope for us as kids watching it on theaters and or tv back in the days. I'm not denying that Vanilla might like the turtles and find pride in being a part of a franchise beloved be a whole generation of kids. However, i don't see any possible logic that would indicate that the highlight of his entire life was ninja rap? Does anybody really believe that?

I don't see what's so hard to believe about having a role in arguably the most iconic scene in an immensely successful film featuring the work of Jim Henson being one of if not the highlight(s) of ones career and/or life.

When the alternative is being known as "the white guy who borrowed MC Hammer's pants", no, it's no stretch.

I got this... Hear me out...

While engaging the Foot in combat in the middle of a busy street, RAPHAEL (Alan Ritchson) gets kicked right in the eye.
LEONARDO (Pete Ploszek): "Dang, that eye's gonna turn all kinds of colors in no time!"
Quick shot of UNNAMED BYSTANDER (ROBERT VAN WINKLE): "Need some Ice?"
All laugh.
Even the Foot.

It's at least the second biggest song of his career. And he does love TMNT.
May I present, Exhibit A:
