Anyone ever done some really awesome pranks?

When I was at university I came up with a few good ones. My favourite (or at least the only one I can discuss in polite company) was played on my flatmate Mike - he had thousands of pounds of electrical equipment in his room - computers, a stereo, widescreen TV, the lot. He used to go home at weekends, so one Sunday I got some black and yellow striped warning tape and taped it across his door and printed out a letter on official university stationary saying that there'd been a fire, all his stuff had been destroyed and he needed to contact the accomodation office. I got all our other flatmates in on it, and even convinced his dad to go along with it...

The evening he got back, I met him outside our flat and told him the bad news. He didn't believe me (I was known for my pranks), but when he saw his taped-up door and official letter it hit him. He actually burst into tears at the loss of his precious stuff! Meanwhile, the rest of us were pissing ourselves laughing...

He saw the funny side, eventually....

Cheers, it ended up spreading around the halls - my flatmate's boyfriend pranked one of his friends the same way, and he pranked someone else...

Another old favourite was when I was managing an electical superstore. The fridges & freezers came in huge, 7' tall boxes, so I'd take an empty one, cut a small eyehole, slide the box over myself and wait in the warehouse for someone to come along. There was so much you could do, from eerie groaning, to slowly moving around, to following people.

Another similar gag was hiding in a smaller box (like one from a washing machine), enlisting an accomplice to grab a sucker to help move it, then bursting out and going "grrrwww!". We used to use that as an initiation for new members of staff, but had to stop after one of our "victims" (a 16-year-old Christmas temp) fainted & soiled himself. Still, it was fun whilst it lasted...

About two or three years ago my boyfriend of the time and myself decided to dress up like a priest and a nun and went to strip club and instead of handing the dancers dollar bills we handed them ripped out pages from the bible. We got kicked out.

DG, that's hilarious. Awesome job.

Sage, that's also hilarious. I haven't done any pranking myself, but if I ever do, I'll be sure to let you know what I do. I've thought about doing an April Fools joke where I e-mail my BF and pretend I'm breaking up with him and then at the end I would put, "April Fools!" at the end, but I haven't gotten the nerve to do it yet.

When I was in highschool and college, we'd pull off some pretty good ones. I'd go into Walmart or wherever with friends but before we went in there we'd give someone else my cane and sunglasses. They'd be holding my arm and I'd be playing the role of sighted guide. They'd be murmuring things behind me as we were walking so I'd occasionally be able to say things like,"Oh, careful dude. There's a cart there. Which DVD did you want again?" Then we'd switch up after we'd been in there for a while. We managed to make it look pretty friggin convincing. I think it confused most people. One lady came up to me and was pretty livid. She thought I'd taken the other guy's cane and such. One of the counter gals who knew us pretty well would always be like,"So who's lost their sight this time?"

Sometimes when freshmen would arrive in college, my buddy would tell me what color shirt they were wearing and/or what types of objects they'd be carrying. I'd shout out things like,"Hey you over there in the green shirt with the skateboard! Your dorm's the other way." They'd thank me then do a doubletake. They'd see the cane, the glasses, the braille book, etc. Then I was told they'd always get these looks on their faces. They'd be a cross between awed and freaked out. Good times.

I once had a rubber finger I was able to wear. It's a rubber finger that looks like it was cut by a knife with blood coming out. I put the finger on my finger at a dinner table once and grabbed a knife. I pretended to say ou and screamed and the people around me thought it was for real.

Thanks WW and Bubblyshell. Yeah, pretty fun. As for coming up with good pranks WW, I bet you will. Some pranks are just spur of the moment types of things. Then you got people who love putting allot of effort and planning into a prank which is also cool. One will probably pop into your head when you're not really thinking about it.

I remembered some more! Back when I was a teenager, I had a phone line installed in my room (back in the days of dial-up). I made great use of this for a variety of prank calls... I'd call up various shops and place bizarre and surreal orders (I remember trying to buy several tons of cheese once), nothing particularly malicious.

One of my favourites was calling the payphone I could see from my bedroom window. I'd wait until I saw someone approaching, then call and pretend I was from the local radio station. I'd tell them that they'd won a sum of money, but they had to get to another payphone (usually miles away) within a ridiculous amount of time. Most people wouldn't bother, but occasionally you'd get someone who'd try, only to be told they were just too late...

When I was in plays in college we were working on a play where a character was to have his throat slit (he was a ghost) and I was working with a friend on how we wanted to do the special effects make-up. Then we got an idea for a prank- she gave me a giant gash across my throat (sculpting the scar tissue and painting in the blood) then dribbled blood spatter across my neck and shirt. Then I proceeded to lay in front of the drama building and she stayed just out of sight to see if we could get anyone to come over... We had a couple people start to come up to see what was going on, then I'd start giggling and they'd run off embarrassed that they'd fallen for it. I've ruined more than one prank by snickering like an idiot!

And I also once shopped through a Wal-Mart with a real snake wrapped around my arm. Only one person realized it was real, they thought it was hilarious...

Awesome pranks, DG and Dawnatella. I probably would have laughed if I'd fallen for those pranks.

Ever imagine a high school teacher would talk about playing a prank? My Introduction To Western Civilization one did.

Previously he had had a job cutting meat with a cleaver, and he played a joke on a woman where he put his cleaver through his apron, pretending he had cut into himself by accident, and the woman saw it and fainted. Later on, he really did cut into himself through his apron with his cleaver, and he told the woman, who thought that he was joking again. But when he showed her he had done it for real this time, she fainted again.

The best prank I ever did was when my husband and I were still dating. We went into a Denny's restaurant with heavy coats (and it wasn't winter), nondescript clothes, and a file-folder, sat down near several full tables, ordered some drinks, and proceeded to talk about our "job". The "job" in question was a Mob hit list, and we spent several minutes going back and forth over details, and even discussing pay- complete with folded bills passed across the table as "up-front expenses". The tables around us were occupied by a couple of families, and one older couple, if memory serves- and they cleared out pretty quickly once they got wind of the subject. In fact, one of them even left before their food arrived! Fortunately, the staff there knew us, and didn't say anything about it- but it was friggin hilarious to see the other customers start getting nervous and glancing over every few minutes.

Well, we were regulars there, along with several of our friends- we'd go there late in the evening and stay for hours- ordering a bunch of food, and playing D&D or just hanging out. And drinks, of course.

Nice! Sounds like that was allot of fun to pull off. I'm really glad you guys didn't get reported to the police by random customers though! That prank took guts.

Yeah, one of our friends even played along with it- he had been there with us for part of the conversation, but left after passing us the folder. The funny part was, he is Hispanic, and always wore a trench coat and a hat like Indie Jones everywhere. So he looked like Mexican Mafia!
