Looks like he had the special... :P
So... here's our Halloween episode, it seems. Squirrels touch mutagen, squirrels turn into horrible long-tongued face-suckers, unlucky humans become walking incubators..
It looks like it's going to be one of the more disgusting episodes to watch...

So far, So Good. Gross-out jokes aside, it's pretty entertaining. Also, Donnie seems to be taking April's leave of absence pretty well.

I think this is the episode where we throw our hands up to all logic and say 'oh why the hell not'. There is no reason why the squirrels did not mutant into squirrelmen, or why the turtles didn't also turn into creepy little turtles that jump into people's mouths and multiply... The only way to enjoy this season is to turn the brain off when watching...

This episode was way too confusing. Why did they turn into alien like things? Why did the lights go out? Why did they glow? Although I do like Mikey's room and seeing him smarter in this episode. Still pretty good.

I also liked the different kind of "HEZ ALIVE11!11!1!1" Ending.

They need to stop with the 'out of sight, out of mind' endings to these eps though. They needed to kill those things, not just flush them away. They were worried about them going to surface to attack more people and yet they let them get away.

Loved this episode! So many Aliens references! And Splinter was awesome as usual.
Great episode!
-The squirrelnoids were disgusting!
-Loved the bit with Mikey's room. It was funny how he and Raph just got distracted in there. :tlol:
-The whole episode was a very nice homage to aliens.
-Poor Metalhead...
-I love that mutagen tracker and its Gameboy power up noise! :tlol:
-Way to go Mikey saving the day! :tgrin:
-I guess Leatherhead didn't scare that guy away from his job... But this might... :teek:

To be honest, it's hard to kill them when you're brother is flushing away. They got away....Like every other mutant on the show.
Gotta sell those toys!
Now on to the good. I liked Metalhead making another appearence. I liked Mikey and Raph and his room. And that's about it. I really hope the foot and Kraang make a comeback, or else this will get boring.

It was a pretty fun episode...but it just raised a lot of questions for me. Why did the squirrels gradually mutate and multiply when in people's stomachs? None of the other mutants have done anything like this so it was kind of weird. Mikey acted a little more intelligent in this episode though, so that's good. It was fun to see his room, and there were a lot of great moments with him and Raph. I was really surprised to see Metalhead again. Like someone else said, Donnie seems to be taking April's absence well...but don't forget that this is actually the third episode of Season 2...so who knows what the second one is about. Doesn't seem like we're even getting a new one on Saturday...

This one was alright. It's easy to tell this is the 3rd episode though because Don mentioned being lead into a trap via the mutagen tracker. I only saw Mutation Situation once but I don't think that had anything to do with being lead into a trap because Kirby wasn't exactly a schemer bat. The squirrelanoids were grose as well as interesting mutants. They seemed to evolve each time they were digested. I'm wondering if further mutations had something to do with Raph's mutant DNA. I don't really have anything negative to say about this ep. I was hoping Mutagen Man would be released while there was chaos in the lair, but I'm guessing he might have gotten out in the second episode which we haven't seen yet.
The only negative things I have to say relate to Nick. They need to stop showing these out of order. Hopefully we'll see episode 2 of season 2 in early November. Wikipedia says we'll be getting one November second and even has a link to some futoncritic website under the sorces section. I hope we only have to wait two weeks. But who knows? I'd love to see 5 or 6 weeks of nothing but new episodes without two week breaks some day, Nick. So the episode was great but I'm not thrilled with having a two week break so early in the friggin season.

I absolutely loved this episode because it had the feel of a horror film. I know a lot of people felt it was too convoluted, but I think the intentions was to give it a B movie feel (which we don't take those films seriously anyway).
This episode was no doubt a homage to Ridley Scott's Alien and I praise it for that because Alien is one of the most beautifully, well made horror films ever made. I enjoyed picking out the references as watching it.
Also I loved Mikey's horror/science fiction poster room and I loved seeing the Muck Man poster which was in the style of William Sach's 1977 The Incredible Melting Man poster (the original poster art work) as well as seeing Lucio Fulci's City of the Living Dead (they changed the title to Survivor's Of The Dead but it's the exact same poster.
I know a lot of people have questions, but if you are B movie horror nut like I am (The Brain Who Wouldn't Die, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader, Little Shop of Horrors, Attack of the Puppet People, Village of the Giants and Robot Monster) you just learn to sit back, relax and enjoy watching the popcorn theme movie. I felt as if Roger Corman (who idolize) directed this episode.
My only gripe was having to watch The Thunderbirds commercial (which looks God awful) and that mini behind the scenes Sam and Cat Halloween special (whoever came up with the idea of having Cat laugh like that must have been on some serious drugs). After seeing these it makes me realize even more (aside from SpongeBob SqaurePants) why I stopped watching Nickelodeon.
I'm confused, why did the lights in the lair suddenly go out after the transformation?
If I recall, after the first case Donnie said they were administrating a high output energy reading. I guess we're lead to believe they were sucking the power from the lair.
Overall not a great episode, was a good episode, and a fun episode.
Splinter saying "I hate saying I was right but......I was right." literally said had me laughing for about a minute straight.

I think that had something to do with the energy the squirrelanoids were emiting. It was mentioned in a throwaway line, I think. Weren't they also glowing? I'll have to rewatch this one when it's added to my vid library on amazon.

Even if it is supposed to be Episode 3, the ending of the premiere makes more sense to connect these two episodes together rather than break another episode in between them and then backtrack to the aftermath of the premiere.

This reminded me of Monsters Inc where Boo starts laughing and it shorts the power circuits in Sulley and Mike's apartment.
Team Turtle have upped their level to a ridiculously high standard.
This is what episode one should've been like.
Everything was brilliant. Banter. Animation. Grade A mortal peril. Sassy Splinter. Not too scary for the kids but perfect for those that celebrate Halloween.
I'm scared to give it a 10/10 in case the next episode is even better but I feel like a 9.9 doesn't do it justice.
I'm still a bit confused as to the fact they didn't notice they only flushed 3/4 squirrels down the septic tank...

It was cool to see a "Muckman" poster in Mikey's room among other things.
This certainly wasn't a hard hitting episode, but it was a lot of fun. The Squirrelanoids were fun, creepy but I loved their design. The bit where Mikey was translating the homeless bum's "crazy talk" was another funny moment.

I actually enjoyed this episode. It reminded me of my old fear of squirrels when I was young (I am not ashamed to admit that). It is pretty obvious that the squirrelanoids are based off of Scott Ridley's "Alien" movies series.
Nick is crossing the line of grossness and suspense of this show and I'm loving it. They also remind me of the Pizza Monsters from "The Case of the Killer Pizzas", of whom were also based off of aliens. Did anyone also get a "Notes From the Underground" vibe when Mikey kept referencing his horror media to his brothers?

I have to say that this was not one of my favorite episodes mainly for the fact that the squirrels entered someone's mouth, resided in there for a short bit, then were puked out and multiplied. But other than that little thing, I did like the rest of it. I loved how Mikey pretty much solved the problem and used his comic books to do so, proving that reading is a good thing. Also loved the glimpses into Mikey's room, and I hope we see more of the Turtles' rooms, too. We know the Squirrelanoids will be back at some point, and they were pretty freaky, too. Overall, an okay episode but not one that ranks as one of my favorites. It was a good thing I didn't eat during this one.
Favorite quotes:
Raph: I think I just got shelllash.
Leo: You're going to laugh your whiskers off when you hear this.
Splinter: What is going on here? I was in deep meditation to drown out your noise and--Is that a chipmunk?
Leo: It's a squirrel. A deadly mutant squirrel that goes into people's stomachs and multiplies.
Splinter: *sighs* I should have been in a deeper trance.
Splinter: I do not want to say I was right, but I was right.
Raph: Since when do you wear tighty whiteys?
Mikey: That, my friend, is a story for another day.
Raph: I'm glad you didn't get flushed, little brother.
And that's all I remember. See you next week, guys.

You know, if it weren't for last episode, I would consider this one to be perfectly decent. There's one particular scene, which upon reflection, is rather appalling--the turtles' prank on the infected Raph, who is at the time in legitimate and perfectly understandable distress--but aside from that and the general sloppiness, it'd be okay.
As a follow-up to last episode, however? The one where the turtles once again learn that their lack of discipline can have horrible consequences, and maybe the world would maaaaaybe be better served if they could actually take things with a smidgen of seriousness? Rather frustrating, to be honest. It'd be one thing if this were explicitly an universe in which their behavior doesn't have larger consequences (see: Teen Titans Go!) but as last episode showed, the writers insist on both showing us that 1) yes, their actions do have consequences, and 2) no, they don't particularly care. And while that's fine on The Sopranos, it doesn't really work for characters which are meant to be seen as heroic, which is clearly what is happening here.

There were only three. The squirrels needed a stomach (and presumably popcorn) to multiply.
The first squirrel multiplied inside the hobo, splitting into two. Of those two, one was trapped under a milk crate by Splinter and didn't split. The other one multiplied inside Raph's stomach. 3 total squirrels.

Great episode overall, love the pacing and the fact that Mikey got the "Game over man, game over!" line I would have been happy if any of them had said it but to give it to Mikey really made me smile. With all they hinted at in This episode now I really can't wait for the mythical "second episode" since I could see them tacking that squirrel bit onto the first one last minis when they realized Nickelodeon was airing their Halloween specials week earlier than they expected.
I'm wondering if further mutations had something to do with Raph's mutant DNA.
I thought the same thing. I was hoping it was going to be a nice little reference to "The River" trilogy from the first volume of Mirage comics. Unfortunately the fact that the third (and possibly original) squirrel was not exposed to Raph's DNA and still evolved (like a Pokemon) from mutant squirrel to squirrelanoid means it has to have been another factor besides incubating inside a mutant host.
Did anyone else catch Don's line about the retro-mutagen? Perhaps when he finishes it he can use it to change back Kirby and Timothy.
Unfortunately that line is the one line which really cements this as the third episode and not the second. The casual way that Donatello brings up the retro-mutagen and no other turtles questions it means that there must have existed an earlier conversation addressing the topic. Which means that the "lost" episode probably addressed him converting the radar tracker to a mutagen canister tracker, them collecting some of the canisters already and the episode culminating in a trap once the foot or one of the other villains out there took notice of their quest (though i could also see the trap line as reference to what happened with the Biodroid). Still the hope that all that information which was glossed over exists in some form in an episode and that hope is what really makes me look forward to Nov. 2nd.

I liked this one. Straight up fun, and... kind of takes me back to the days of watching OT
Gotta say, though- seeing Raph go Sai-happy at the one squirrel was surprisingly edgy (maybe because it still looked like a normal squirrel) - and the bit with the throwing star- it's nothing graphic, but for some reason I find it surprisingly intense.
And more lava lamp Timothy! XD
As for whether this is episode 2 or 3, I'm really convinced this is the third episode due to few specific things.
"Remember, this might be another trap so we need to be careful."
This one's obvious. From the sound of it, the Kraang or the Foot might know their looking for the mutagen and used it to lure them in an ambush-
That would be interesting if someone has set up some traps with mutagen as bait in parts of the city to wipe them out, slow them down or maybe just to mess with them.
Whatever the case, something obviously happened before hand, otherwise why have him say it?
"It's half empty, but... one more mutagen canister recovered."
The way he worded it, it sounds like they've already found some mutagen since the ship accident.
It was mentioned Donnie was handling the situation with April better than the first one, but it's possible the actual episode 2 has him still recovering from the event, and by the end of the episode, he's to caught up with the mission at hand to be broken up over something that can't be helped at the moment.
Lastly, and these are a bit of a stretch, someone pointed out the homeless man had stated he was being chased for days. If that's true, I'm certain the Turtles were out searching as soon as they could. Maybe they were looking for any canisters around the area while Donnie got to work on the whatever tools they needed to hunt the stuff down- Speaking of that, the new mutagen tracking gear just popped up out of nowhere. I'm willing to bet there's a better introduction for the stuff. Like I said, a stretch, but it's something to consider.

The only problem is, this ep deals with the squirrels right after the last episode, so it fits perfectly. Unless this missing episode 2 shows the squirrel chasing the bum or something, there really isn't a reason to have episode 2 ignore the squirrel and bring it back in episode 3.

I get what your saying, but I have to disagree on this one.
That's like saying Turtle Temper was supposed to be episode 4 and New Friend was supposed to be third because Shredder was shown at the end of episode 2, and he doesn't show up a whole episode later.
I see of it more of a foreshadowing of things to come more so than a preview for episode two due to the reasons why I think it's episode three. Had the Leo not mentioned the trap or any of that stuff, then I'd see the epilogue of the first episode as teaser for the next one.
If anything, this could have be episode 4 or 5, but the network wanted something for Halloween, and so they presented it as the second episode.

This episode definitely kept my attention, but it's far from a standout in my personal opinion. I laughed just once, which is very surprising given my record with reacting to the shows humor in the past. I guess it just fell a little flat in that respect. I take no issue with putting jokes aside in favor of action or story, but neither were heavily present either, as far as I could tell. Kinda filler-ish to me. I did enjoy the many nods to other versions of the TMNT, as well as the Muck Man easter egg, though.

Again, far from being one of my favorites. I think an appearance from the Rat King would have made a far better Halloween episode. But yea, I wish I knew for certain if all of season 2 was going to be "Mutant Of The Week" episodes without much actual fighting against the Foot and Shredder. I'd stop watching right now if I knew it was always going to be mutants in this season. Like I said in the previous episode thread, I have zero interest in watching the turtles fight mutants, robots, aliens and monsters. All of my interest is in watching their martial arts skills against other martial arts skilled opponents. That's it. Their ninja weapons against monsters or ray blasters is just so incredibly boring to me (which is why I quickly tired of them fighting the Kraang).

You know I just realized that this is the first episode of the series where Mike's love for comic books is brought in.
Nope, Mikey's love of comic has been brought in since last season.

I love this episode so much more than the premiere.
Nick didn't make Mikey as stupid as the last episode - he's actually resourceful and funny. Great keep it up. A lot of creepy stuff, and that final sewage flush scene gave me chills. I love Mikey's room, just wish they could've shown the other boys' rooms.
The cliffhanger ending where the Squirrelanoid grabbed a victim. I love it.
Excellent, 8.8/10.
Anyway, wasn't Raph always seen reading a comic book too? Or is he reading a non-horror genre or something?

I thought it was a cool episode. I actually think the Squirrelanoids have the coolest design of any of the new mutants. They look really dangerous and I wonder if there will be a toy of them. I loved seeing Metalhead but now I guess he's just "Metal" since he seemed to have lost his head. LOL. I'm also never going to complain about getting to watch Splinter throw down. For me, this and Parasitica have probably been the two best filler episodes. Also does anyone think this whole thing about looking for the mutagen might be a bit of a call back to when Shredder lost the eye of Sarnoth and they were trying to find it. I believe that was what it was. In Season 2 of the 1987 series I believe.

If that's the case how do you read/watch 70% of the stories the TMNT are featured in during every universe? The Turtles fight aliens/mutants/robots far more than humans in most series.

Wasn't a fan of this episode. The inconsistent mutagen is getting to me. Is there any reason why they couldn't be alien squirrels? Why did they have to go inside stomachs? Why did it take them so long to transform?
I get that Ciro wants to play fast and loose with the Mutagen but couldn't they just do a "monster" or "alien" when they want too, rather then making everything a mutant. It really bothered me after Kirby mutated, that he didn't speak but after seeing those squirrels habituating in stomachs, it got to be too much. I like Aliens but I don't like a homage when it has to change pre-set rules.
I would have been happier if they were alien squirrels, because that's clearly what Ciro wanted to do.
Ugh! I never thought I wouldn't want more mutants, but not like this.

I agree with some point's you have mondo but the whole squirrel going into people stomach's and took long to transform was basically a huge homage to the alien franchise where they went into people's stomach and after that they start to grow but they never explain how they grow either.

Or he might have been trying to manufacture a genuine excuse to take a few sick days. Sure he was supposed to be the victim but that popcorn bit got me laughing. The title make it sound like another 1950's-60's B science fiction movie, but it was actually a good episode (except silly that they would go after Michelangelo's comic book). The best mutants of the show yet (except the turtles and Splinter), and cooler than Pulverizer. But I hope in the next episode the turtles will shut down the Kraang's mutagen (maybe send all canisters from Earth to Dimension X) for at least this season, so the series can focus more on other aspects.
I'm fine with Shredder not appearing every time. I like how he just strikes sometimes, and when he does, he strikes hard.

i actually enjoyed the episode. Sure we didnt get much plot progression, and the whole april plot seems to have never occurred to them, but other than that it was enjoyable. liked raph and mikey interaction and even the leo donnie interaction. the fight scenes were great. we finally saw the turtles rooms. And mikey recovered from his awful stupidity during the premiere. Sure the mutagen affected the squirrels awkwardly, but what this show has stated is that the mutagen is unstable, so effects can vary. Yeah the stomach thing was a little out there, but again, the mutagen has shown it doesnt have an exact way of working

This show just keeps getting better. All the references in this episode to horror comics, Alien, Swamp Thing etc. Seeing Mikey's room, the great one-liners. It was eerie and gross. It even had a few shots straight out of Alien. It was a lot like a Halloween episode and I loved that about it too.
I am however a little nervous about this season returning to the "monster of the week" format they were flirting with last season. Although, if each episode is just as entertaining as this one, I'll keep watching.

Man, I loved this episode. Really fantastic homage to the Alien movies. Also loved Raph calling Mikey "little brother," that was nice. Mike got to save the day again. DB Splinter in full effect. Gameboy power-up noise was a nice touch (and damn nostalgic). Pacing was good, humor spot-on; overall 9/10. :D

Makes me wanna watch Alien.
It's a ridiculously shallow episode, but I am amazed Nick got away with the mutant squirrel shoving itself in people's throats... that was gleefully disgusting.
It was an alright episode, not really special but good to watch. First half was nice but the second half began to drag out for me, but the design of the mutant squirrels was pretty cool and the fight sequences did keep my interest.
Then we got the scene where Mikey was pulled into the whirlpool, there was something really unsettling about seeing Mikey fighting for his life, and himself realizing he could die within moments. They did a great job conveying that scene and I loved the rescue at the end.
Strong points of this episode where the interactions between the brothers, especially Mikey and Raph. There were also some pretty funny moments in this episode. I loved that "you're laugh your whiskers off when you hear this one" line from Leo. And how he stood at attention a moment after that, Splinter certainly has drilled the turtles well.
Loved the nod/homage to the Alien series, although I didn't really care for the mutants even if their final design was well done. The interactions between the brothers was enjoyable though and I definitely hope we'll see more of that throughout this season.
Another positive thing for me was that Mikey was portrayed a lot better and more as himself in this episode. I really enjoyed the role he played here.

As some pointed out here, the mutagen logic is confusing. I mean isn't the mutagen supposed to combine the form of two species? The original species and the species it last touched. ...So does that mean the squirrels made contact with aliens or some type of insect I assume? With Timothy and now this episode, I think the logic behind the mutagen is more or less just a imagination mystery "grab bag" so any type of mutant can be created; the show did state the mutagen was "unstable", but still... I don't know :ohwell: I'm just detail-oriented sometimes. :P As others said here, the episode seemed more or less a tribute to the movie franchise "Aliens".
**Exhaling Loudly** Thank goodness! It's good to see Mikey having a brain in this episode. He still retained his charming quirkiness, but he didn't have that irritating randomness, loudness, and perpetual off-tangent thinking as the supposed entertaining humor here. The gross-out humor was okay, not my favorite type of humor, but at least its far better than using the crutch of "dumb Mikey". What I thought was more disgusting was that the "used" or "stained" underwear was thrown so close to the pizza Raph and Mikey were eating.:lol: AND, the last scene.. WHO in the heck eats discarded popcorn found in the sewers?
In addition, I'm glad they at least highlighted Mikey's out-of-the-box approach in solving things here. Yes, the idea may have come from his comics but it at least shows Mikey can apply solutions from one situation to another. At least this episode is giving me some hope for Mikey having normal intelligence, but it's still got a long way to go though.
There were a few good Raph-Mikey moments, but it wasn't as deep as some of the depth in the first season though. Then again, I guess we're only into Season 2 so, I'll let the series "breathe" a bit.
At least this episode didn't follow the exact cliche checklist like the last episode:
Overall this was more or less a neutral episode for me. I'm neither disappointed nor excited, its the standard Nick episode:
A new Donatello invention? Check
Unrequited love/crush between Donatello and April? Check
Leonardo heroically saving the day? Check, in landing onto Kirby and placing him in a cage
Mikey acting dumb and annoying as usual, with Raph yelling at him? Check
A new mutant? Check
Now for this episode:
A new Donatello invention? Kinda of, Donatello's body scanning equipment. Not new, but first time we saw it.
Unrequited love/crush between Donatello and April? No (Sweet relief! Finally a small break from that!)
Leonardo heroically saving the day? No it was Mikey, what a nice change for once.
Mikey acting dumb and annoying as usual, with Raph yelling at him? No, Raph was yelling at him but it was because of Mikey's interest in a comic and not his irritating randomness and loudness.
A new mutant? Check
Possible plot hole: If two "alien" like squirrelanoids, got out of the lair. How did three show up when the Turtles went into the sewers looking for them? I mean did the third one just break out of Splinter's meditation/practice room?...? Wouldn't the Turtles and Splinter have heard a loud banging noise of the Squirrelanoid escaping? Okay... whatever I guess.
To sum up everything, I'm glad that at least this episode mixed the characters and situations a bit so at least it was not the same formulaic, cliche script structure that restricts the characters to their stereotypes like the previous episode did ("The New Mutation"), BUT it still doesn't hide the fact that it was a "Mutant of the Week" episode where it/they mysteriously disappeared in the series; thus still following the same plot line that we (the viewers) are all too familiar with.
In other words, the "exterior" of the episode was different, but its "interior" was more or less the same. Similarly to eating a cake with a different flavored frosting, but having the same inner bread layers. The "frosting" of the show held my attention, but the same "inner bread layers" didn't make the episode satisfying though.

Splinter specifically mentions when he enters Donatello's lab that what is happening with the squirrels in there is also happening to the squirrel captured in the Dojo and if that one also became a Squirrelanoid then that milk crate wouldn't be able to hold it for very much longer.

Pretty good episode I guess. Loved the Aliens references and the gameboy sound effects especially! Raph and Mikey were kind of adorable hanging out in Mikey's room.
I thought it was a little scary (and kinda gross) for small children though, but whatchagonnado? *shrugs*
In a battle against the Kraang, or Foot, or other baddies, the Turtles elegantly demonstrate their skill and training in ninjitsu, but when chasing 2 squirrels they turn into bumbling idiots who can't not knock over everything in sight.
I get, and appreciate, the homages this episode had, but this slapstick shtick has got the end.

This was a weird episode for me. I did find it weird that a cartoon on Nick would allow a squirrel to be shown going down two different character's mouths. Followed by them being spit back out with two squirrels each after the up-chuck. Pretty extreme for a kids show.
I liked the Muck Man poster in Mikey's room. I liked the Alien references to the Squirrelanoids. I thought their design on the head looked the most like the version from Aliens. The way they moved on the ceiling and in other ways felt very Alien-like. Very good attention to detail there. And I loved Mikey saying the "Game over man!" line referencing the line from Aliens. Very cool. A nice horror feel to the episode overall.

Weirdest TMNT Episode I've ever seen! So I guess it works perfectly as a Halloween Special.
As a standalone episode however, it was pretty mediocre. You can tell the writers are having fun with it but it should translate well into the audience and for me, I haven't laughed once since Season 2 begun and that's been my major disappointment. Mike had some good moments but no real developments were made.
There are three things I always look forward to in terms of filler episodes:
1. Humorous writing that contains laugh out loud moments! (I.e. Metalhead, ITHNIBS)
2. Badass action scenes. (I.e. I, Monster)
2. Developments of the characters. (Turtle Temper)
I got NONE of that in this episode... :( but the Alien references, cool atmosphere and energetic animation does make it a little more enjoyable.
(6.2/10) for "Invasion of the Squirrelanoids" - Oh and for the love of Splinter, please stop with the Fart jokes.....

As someone who loved the first Alien films, this was great!:tgrin:
Now this was a Halloween episode. I must say, it was better than "Parasitica." Mikey proved himself now, and I think that part was written well for the plot. See, guys? I told you he wasn't that stupid. Sure, he can be stupid sometimes, but like he said, "Not everyone can be the brains of the outfit." It was good to see him use his without thinking too hard. Plus, his line was hilarious: "Game over, man! Game over!":tlol: To anybody who knows the Alien films, they'll get that. I couldn't help but picture Bill Paxton saying that line, whining over defeat.
But, man. Splinter kicks more butt than the turtles, . . . but stays in the lair. Either he doesn't like the surface, or it's because the show tends to focus on the turtles.
And, yes. The fart sounds better not be in the next episode. That I'm finding very annoying. Also, I was wondering when Leo and Raph were going to stab the heck out of those creatures. What's the point of using bladed weapons if you weren't going to cut any aliens to size. However, you can't hate the episode for that. The story itself was strong, and it paid a good homage to Alien and Aliens. Was I the only one who thought that Mikey going down the drain was like Newt being sucked into space. I thought Raph would be playing the Ripley role.:tcool:
And just to add - I liked seeing them split-up into teams. We got to see more of Leo and Don bonding, along with Raph and Mikey not fighting.:tsmile: Thank goodness.
And to anyone who didn't understand why Raph and the hobo barfed the squirrels - well, let's just say it's not squirrels bursting out of your chest. Watch the Alien films if you haven't. The first two are the best.

wait a minute, newt being sucked into space?!?!when did THAT ever happen?..although I really like aliens and have seen it a zyllion times I dont recall that...
right from the top of my head I only related the homages to alien...hmm, for example the obvious one in the scene when the squirrelanoid hangs from the ceiling and grabs donatello.the two squirrels on their ultra sound picture(how on earth did donatello pull THAT one off when he uses two paper cups connected by a string?!?!?!?;)...)
...um, the little mouth comming out of the mouths of the s....and lastly when mike flushes them down(his comic even directly-like in the end of alien- flushed the being out of the airlock) in the sewers....even when the squirrelanoid returns and wants to grab mike the shot of the squirrelanoid being shot at and falling back reminds me of the scene in the movie....
but where were the aliens homages?

Yeah, in Aliens, as Ripley is on the Power Loader fighting the Alien Queen. Newt was about to be sucked into space, but Bishop grabs her. Ripley is mostly the one holding onto to her life after the alien is pulled away. You're right. I just knew Newt wasn't taken into space, but I knew she was about to be.:twink:
Anyway, I didn't notice this (mostly because of the bad quality of the YouTube video), but did any of you guys see the scene where Leo and Raph fist pump?

I love it how almost everything that happened in this episode happened in Mikey’s comic books! Speaking of comic book, wouldn’t it be cool if we saw Mikey dress up as Turtle Titan in this cartoon?
Anyways, I really don’t understand why splinter would send his son out after the squirlnoids, I mean he saw how dangerous they were, not to mention that he was pretty much the only one that could fight them. Not to mention him staying in the Lair the whole time. What a jerk! I probably wouldn’t mind it if this happened before least season’s finale because it seemed like Splinter really changed and took what April said to heart but apparently not. The least he could have done was go with the Turtles to help them.

Black Nerd is awesome.
Anyway, I'm viewing the episode again and I just.. love it. Yeah, I love it. I kinda wish the gruesomeness to be overboard, like maybe the squirrels bursting out of the stomach or something, but hey this is Nick. I respect that they even allow those types of horrifying scenes the green light. I'm glad they don't strictly make this show too kiddie safe.
Those moments when the squirrel scurry into the homeless guy and Raph's mouth, it was amazing. When they're about to chainsaw Raph's stomach wide open, I was on the edge of my seat - even for a few seconds of thrill. And that scene where Mikey struggled in the sinking whirlpool, it was intense.
This might be my most fave episode to date. :D

Hey everyone, just saw the episode and it was decent.
One of the main issues for me was the alien references. I feel the references kind of dragged down the episode. I get that this was maybe a Halloween episode, but the alien issues kind of held back the things that make the turltes enjoyable.
Also the squirrels being puked up by hosts was kind of disturbing. I know something similar(bursting out of stomachs) happened to people in the movies, but I personally was never a huge fan of the alien movies.
So it was an okay episode. I liked Mikey in this, and the comic book moments. One other little issue is Leo and Raph pulling their weapons out and not using them on the mutant squirrels. They could have at least defended themselves with the weapons more. I don't see the point of having sharp weapons out while dealing with dangerous mutants, if they are not going to use them. I realize this show is aimed at kids but, it still is a minor annoyance. :tsmile:

One of the best episodes so far. As Alien and Aliens are some of the best movies ever made I got a huge kick out of TMNT yet again referencing them. An original series episode did this as well, but I can't remember the name of it. Are people really that offended they showed squirrels being puked up? Come on people have a little backbone.
This is the episode that FINALLY got Mikey right. If they can keep him like this from now on I'll be a happy camper. Loved his room and loved The CHUD poster on his wall. Another cool horror movie reference.

True that (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabies_in_animals#Other_small_mammals) Jester. It's too bad Nick didn't decide to mutate raccoons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prevalence_of_rabies#United_States), the episode could have subtly and inadvertently been "educational" by making kids fear them.

How is it different exactly when the squirrels gained enough experience by reproducing twice they were able to evolve into Squirrelanoid and learn a bunch of different TM's because they went from normal type to psychic / normal type. It's basic pokemon science and everybody knows that after the 5th generation reproduction became a trigger for evolution. (Note: that may be a fabricated fact)

I'm late for this, but I thought it was a good episodic episode since it provides an in-depth look at what a typical mutagen canister can do. It was nice seeing Metalhead and the conflict with how the squirrel reacted with Splinter, and is a nice breather from the tension of Mutation Situation, and as always some great standup.
Overall: 8/10

So speaking of references to Alien (1979) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_%28film%29), I went through this thread just to see if anybody did their research about the parallel scenes this episode made nods to, but surprisingly nobody didn't ;), or maybe some of you hinted at it. There's a reason why the Alien movie was so effective in being scary, and it wasn't solely because of how the aliens looked. There was a more Freudian reason behind the fear, especially for men.
I know the squirrels entering the homeless man's and Raph's mouths were references to the movie as with the squirrelanoids' head shapes, but in the Alien movie those incidents had sexual overtones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_%28film%29#Sexual_imagery) and according to Dan O'Bannon (the screenplay writer) those sexual overtones were intentional.
I know I'm really reaching, but... Nick staff was this some form of subtle adult humor/subtext by chance? ;) I mean the squirrels entering the mouth...? I'll let you all decide on that...

I just watched this and started Episode 3, and it did seem that maybe this was out of order, but at the beginning of episode 3, after finding the mutagen canister, Donatello says that's 1½ that they've found. I just started it unless they found a whole one in episode 2, but I don't think so.

The good part of this episode, is when master Spliner took down the Squirrelnoids without problem. It shows how strong is master Spliner. When i see this mutants, i saw it was too nasty the way they introduce inside the victim's mouth and then split in two. In fact they are ghastly when they show their tongue.
Reminded me of the Pizza Monsters episode of the OT probably since they're both inspired by Alien, however unlike the OT episode this one wasn't as fun. As for the episode itself it's alright, it didn't do anything necessarily bad but nothing great either. It's just so unoffensive that's how i feel about the show as a whole.
Normally I find the music generic but a small cue from the mutant squirrels fight was actually pretty awesome, too bad it lasted only a few seconds. I wish the show had better music.

Surprisingly they managed to preserve creepyness of the source material. And even some disgusting details. Gladly there were no chestbursters, but I wouldn't been surprised, if they did that; this series has fondness for some ugly details.
Generally good episode with nice continuity nods, but still a filler. Splinter was awesome, which comes as no surprise.

Personally, I felt this ep showed some things about Mikey's personality, just like in Parasitica. I felt, after seeing those eps, that he'll have good survival skills and instincts if ever forced into the situation.
