I figured I'd make this just because we don't have one yet.
What an episode! I loved everything about it. And it explained the "another trap" thing. Well, discuss away!

Well then 3 things.
1.) I hope she doesn't mind.
2.) For the sake of clarity, you might want to add season 2 I the title.
3.) Another solid episode as to be expected. Loved the refrences to the movies. 8.5/10. I do however, have three nitpicks about it.
- Why did the turtles carve "Lam-e-ardo" on Leo's sword? That seemed a bit mean-spirited.
- How did Leo's sword magically repair itself after it had been shattered by the foot robots?
- Why did it never occur to any of the turtles to use water on the robots?

If someone designed robots ninjas that would succumb to water they'd deserve a shuriken in the eye.
Splinter told Leo so it's now a secret between the two. Should be interesting to see how the others find out.
I loved the little dig at how trenchcoats on a turtle is actually a useless disguise lol. The robotic foot are still around and look to be an even more serious threat. Can't wait to see how the boys manage to deal with them from now on.

I loved this episode as well. Yep it definitely does explain the "another trap" thing from Squirrelanoids. So will Leo and Splinter keep the Karai thing between themselves or will they tell the other three turtles directly? I really wasn't expecting Splinter to reveal the truth so early in the season but I liked that he trusted Leo enough to tell him.
I had a question about the mutagen canister. Well someone else posed it earlier in another thread. Don said they now had 1 and a half. Is he referring to the half he nabbed in Mutation Situation? I've only seen that one twice and it's been a pretty busy couple weeks for me but I think I remember him grabbing half a canister after the first skirmish with Kirby. Do I have that right?
Loved the robotic foot and can't wait to see more battles. Wondering when we're going to see Stockman again. Someone pointed out that he's running his own business via billboard in another thread. I totally missed that so thanks, whoever you are.
That comment Shredder made about punishing his daughter for disobedience gave me chills. I can't help but wonder what that punishment consists of. Flashing back to that scene of him beating the mess out of Dogpound and wondering if he'd do the same to a kid. I'd say that's a safe bet. Don't much like thinking about that as I detest abusive family relationships. But yeah an all around great episode. Great to see Karai getting some solo time and looking forward to seeing more of how she handles things with Shredder away for a while.

holy crap that ending!! *_* did not expect them to figure out SO SOON!
and Raph XD what is he Snow White!?
Fun episode! It was cool seeing the foot soldiers get beat up like Kraangdroids. I also noticed the Stockman billboard with a mouser in the background... I'm curious how he was able to pull that off with Shredder. Also, it looks like we now know the source of Tang Shen's trading card art... Karai's torn picture! I wonder how Leo's going to adapt to the news...

Yeah if Shredder finds out she disobeyed him by engaging the turtles he's gonna be rip ****. He definitely isn't one for empty threats. She's definitely gonna need to come up with something (or someone ) to get him to let that slide.
The Shredder is so psychotic that it makes me even more curious as to what he was like when he and Splinter were best friends. He obviously had good qualities considering how close he and Splinter were but he also obviously had a reputation considering people called him The Shredder. Hell, it could be the opposite. Maybe Shredder was good and became bad and Splinter was the bad boy who turned good. Splinter and Shredder are definitely changed men now because of their past. Battle hardened but to two different extremes. I definitely would like a flashback episode to fill in the blanks.

I'm quite mixed about the episode. I really liked the conflict between Karai and Leo, but at the same time, I hated the ending. Master Splinter could of waited sooner if he wanted to tell Leo the truth.

So far, this has been the best episode of S2. Just great all around.
"That trackers about as useless as a turtle in a trenchcoat!"
I'm surprised Splinter told Leo the truth...wasn't expecting it. Also, it was nice to see Raph comforting Donnie about April at the beginning. And Raph is obsessed with pigeons  The Footbots were cool, I just wish they looked a little different to mix things up. Considering the turtles couldn't even defeat them, I assume they'll be back soon enough. They didn't even use all those crazy weapons we saw in the production art!

The only bad thing about the episode's ending is another example of the whole 'plot amnesia' the show suffers from. You don't go from Karai is my daughter to let's chase mutant squirrels. You just don't.

Lol, well they can't just throw it all out there in the beginning of the season. This brings up an even more interesting dynamic. Now it's implied that Leo, who is struggling to get his brothers to trust him and his judgment and leadership, is now withholding information from them.
Also I really find it fitting that Raph is so in tune with animals with him being a bit wild himself lol.

Wow, what a shocking ending. Did not expect Splinter to reveal the secret so soon, Leo's going to have a heck of a hard time keeping this from the guys. I like how close Leo / Splinter are that they can share these things, could hurt his reputation as a leader though once the others find out. The episode is my favorite of the season so far, wonder how Leo will react around Karai now though? Will he try to save her now even more? I can already see how the others will find out, hey'll probably spill the beans while trying to sway Karai over, Donnie will likely be the first of the three to find out, he will put two and two together. Leo V.S Karai will continue the season I bet but for Leo it will be hard knowing this information and Karai trying to kill him left and right
Loved the Leo V.S Karai bits, those are always my favorite fights in the series. Enjoyed the episode a lot, though wish the others didn't write nasty comments on Leo's sword, hope he gets back at them for that 8)

Wow. What an episode! It's definitely my favorite of the season so far, but that's probably because I'm a huge Leo fan, so I'm biased. Anyway, there was a lot of good stuff here. Loved the Turtles questioning Leo's leadership and how they don't want to follow him. Leo then doubts himself, but Splinter tells him to believe in himself or his brothers won't believe in him. Loved the Leo vs. Karai bits and even the part where she made the comment about selling him to scientists. Yeah, the whole Lame-O-Nardo thing was pretty cruel, but it fit with what the Turtles were frustrated about, and I don't think the writers have anything against Leo. Remember, Raph called him that once before, so it was just brothers being brothers. Also loved Raph and the pigeon gag again. That was just awesome as well as Mikey's, "Go ninja, go ninja, go!" I didn't expect Splinter to tell Leo the truth, but now that it's out, I hope Leo and Splinter will tell the others. Loved the bonding between Leo and Splinter, too. Oh, and I loved the return of bada** Leo when he told Karai off. That was just great.
Fave quotes:
Raph: That scanner is as useless as a turtle in a trenchcoat.
Mikey: 'Ello, Guvnor. Do you like my manacol?
Don: It's monocle.
Mikey: Whatever.
Splinter: A true leader doesn't always pose his will onto others and lets his team flourish. Grow.
Leo: So I shouldn't be the one leading the team?
Splinter: My son, how can your brothers believe in you if you do not believe in yourself?
Karai: You know, I could make a lot of money if I sold you to a scientist in a lab. Could you imagine the headline? "Talking Ninja Turtle Found In Sewer." I could be rich.
Leo: Yeah. Sweet. I'm captured and now totally humiliated. Awesome day, Leo, awesome day.
Mikey: Go ninja, go ninja, go!
Leo: Shredder is lying to you. Your grudge is with me. Stay away from my brothers and my sensei. Understood? Believe me, Karai.
Leo: I'm not mad. I just wish that you guys would listen to my orders.
Raph: Sorry I can't play my violin while I'm driving.
Leo: What's your problem, Raph? Still jealous that you're not leading the team?
Raph: It's good to have you back, Leo. I mean it, brother.
Leo: Thanks, Raph.
*They fist bump*
Raph: We can do this one of two ways, sweetheart. You can let us go, or walk away from all of this in a sandwich bag.
And that's all I can think of. See you next week, guys.

Finally! :tparty: An episode that actually "stirs the pot" and adds complexity to the series again rather than the "mutant of the week" episode. :) This episode was richly satisfying by advancing the characters and their multiple relationships: Karai/Shredder, Leo/Karai, Leo/his brothers/Raph, and Leo/Splinter all in one episode!
First, I'm glad that Mikey wasn't dumb this time and that all of his jokes were either witty or playfully sarcastic rather than the loud and random humor we were being given previously.
The theme about reshaping leadership and to improve its direction was done well in this episode when Leonardo had to mentally debate and balance over giving orders versus encouraging individualistic fighting patterns all within the context of Splinter's advice and the real world of fighting (the Foot Soldier robots), while involving Leonardo and his brothers. The writing was done very well here.
One thing that caught me by surprise, was Splinter revealing to Leonardo about Karai being his daughter so soon. I would have thought this revelation to the Turtles (or at least to Leonardo) would have occurred at the earliest, midway into the season, but I guess not. Has this revelation occurred too soon, or are there a lot more developments in the future that are make the timing of this revelation just right? We'll see...;)
This episode is a small responsive sign of my hopeful wishful thinking for the potential I saw midway in the show's first season, and if it can continue in this direction it can slowly charm me back into being interested in the series again, especially now that the whole April/Don relationship has been put on the backburner, and there were not any new mutants in this episode. But... as we've heard... there are many more mutants that are going to show up. :ohwell:
I understand that the Nick series has to have action figures to sell and can't have these highly developing episodes every week, but if they at least inserted 3-4 minutes full of moving the series along in each episode, at least my interest would be more balanced with each subsequent episode rather than it being a polarizing experience (character development/advancement episodes vs. mutant of the week episodes).
Anyways though, this episode stands out very well. Maybe even more so than the Season 1 finale because here we knew more about the characters in this one episode (which is more satisfying and what I have been insisting on) rather than a huge, visual fighting spectacular in the Season 1 finale. C'mon Nick writers... don't disappoint us by giving us these infrequent, expectation-rising episodes, and then pulling the rug from under us in airing the many "mutant of the week" episodes or overdone conversations revolving around shipping (i.e. April/Don). :tgrumble::P
Just one question: do we see the turtles carve "Lam-e-nardo" on his sword, or does he pick it up and notice it? That does sound a little bit mean.
It's not "carved" it's more like condensation writing, like writing on the mirror or shower stall door after taking a shower.

One thing I'd like to add, really loved the music during the Leo V.S Karai fight. Over all, the fight was my favorite out of all the Leo V.S Karai fights so far, every thing was wonderfully done, hope we get more of these in the up coming episodes.
Though, what's weird is why wouldn't the turtles follow Leo's orders? He sacrificed his life to save them twice in the season one final, what's a guy gotta do to get a little respect here?

I think it was more or less the brothers were aggravated that Leo was criticizing their unorthodox methods of fighting/accomplishment, and assumed that Leo "didn't know what he was talking about" when they confronted him that achieving the goal (to get to the dragon gate) was more important than the method itself (direct ninjitsu fighting).

Well teens will be teens... right? It's easier for us to say that from a third person objective standpoint, but from a first person subjective standpoint you have to incorporate the emotions. Maybe its difficult for these three brothers to discern between "being bossy" versus receiving strict guidance/orders from Leo, ya know? ;)

I know what you mean. I absolutely loved the track that played when the Turtles had their rematch with the robot foot soldiers, the orchestral version of the shows theme song. I remember part two of "Rise of the Turtles" had a similar song during the fight with Snakeweed, and I think they played a slower and lower key version when Donnie tried calming Timothy down in "Pulverizer Returns", then had the song kick into a faster tempo during the escape scene.
The stuff gives me chills. Hope to find the tracks someday.

They've all done heroic and noble things, but they still tease and make fun of each other. Their siblings, sometimes they go to far without knowing it, but they still have each others back.
Raph blamed himself for Leo getting captured, and remember what he said to the others? That they were going to save them, but the way Leo wants them to. Now that's showing respect for his leader and brother.

The thing is Shredder trained an army of ninja's. Are they just going to disappear?
In the OT Shredder left the Foot in Japan and lived in the Technodrome and built robots there. But in this show no human foot would not make sense.
They have been disappearing. Pulverizer Returns states that they were running out of new Foot Ninja to train and they had to resort to even accepting Timothy who wasn't even good enough to be cannon fodder. Honestly Shredder would be stupid to keep the human Foot after seeing how much better the robots are. He is hardly the kind to give a crap about the human Foot Ninjas' feelings.

I agree with that. I just hope the Shredder doesn't totally remove the human Foot Soldiers altogether, or to at least show they still have some use to the Shredder.
I think the staff implicitly decided to use robotic Foot Soldiers so that we could see Leo and Raph actually impale these soldiers (with the katanas and sais) without any concern of blood or gore, as in the OT, being a kids' show. I mean did you guys notice how many times Leo was slicing and stabbing those robotic soldiers! :o:lol:
IGN has their review up. 8.2 / 10

I don't understand how IGN can give The Mutation Situation an 8.2 and this episode, Follow the Leader, an 8.3. :ohwell: In terms of characterization (especially with Mikey), comedy, the complexity of the plot, the development of the relationships, the fighting, and the moral, the difference between these two episodes contrast each other like night versus day.

I sighed on two missed opportunities. When Leo said retreat and Raph complains about running. I expected him to say "Tactical retreat, I can live with that"
And Leo didn't say "Robots make my skin crawl"of course you both mention the clang part already.

One could argue the line we expected was iconic, wheres those are not. Plus, Nick's Leo would never say that, being a sci-fi buff & everything. After all, the show to replace Space Heroes is a nod to Voltron & other giant robot series. Plus, if Leo felt that way he would have stated it 20 some-odd episodes ago, given they've been fighting Kraang droids since the beginning.

VERY strong episode, lots of great action and development. Will probably end up being one in my top 5 of the season. But hey, I'd love to be wrong... just means even more awesome episodes ahead :D
About IGN... I just love that they are doing episode reviews, period. It gives some exposure to the show, and most of the reviews are favorable, even if they don't seem to mesh up with the average dromer's feelings on a given episode.
It was so satisfying to see the turtles slice up those footbots. Some of the best fight sequences in the series so far IMO.
There were some great lines of dialogue in this episode. There were a few jokey lines but it was lighter than usual, and personally I love that, because just as we get an episode like this one from time-to-time, we also get some episodes that go way overboard on the humor, so it does balance out.
One of my favorite new details: Donatello calculating the trajectories of the throwing stars with such accuracy. See? That brain of his can have some real advantages in combat :P Wicked!
When the turtles started fighting the robo-Foot, I was really hoping someone would utter the line "Clang!?! Did you say 'clang'?"
Man, how could they pass up the opportunity to reference one of the most memorable lines from the OT? Oh well! Would have been cool.
Let's not start up the Clone Troopers are Stormtroopers debate. It always gets ugly.
People debate that? Oh right it's Star Wars, of course they must :P I remember old SW books having fake 'ads' from the Empire trying to recruit storm troopers, just like the US Military does in modern day. Course this was before GL decided that the clone wars was linked to all that. In my mind though It always felt natural that the empire would use both, especially since their supply of clones was finite.

:P C'mon now Zulithe, exposure and press for the show is one thing. But to have The Mutation Situation and Follow The Leader be so close to each other in their ratings (only 0.1 difference!) when their storywriting content differed so much...
That's making me question how exactly IGN is assessing the episodes, because the character development/depth on these two episodes are contrasting too much to give these IGN ratings a pass.
...All I'm inferring is that it's an incident like this, that breeds skepticism about IGN's rating system.

I actually like the robot foot. I'm surprised it took a season for that. OT inspired and violence against robots is alright in children's cartoons. Gives the chance for the Turtles to use their weapons on the mooks.

People have to all so remember that when Splinter went to get back April he likely put what ever human foot solders they have left into body cast.
So I think they will only be using the robots from now on. Winch I dont mind at all do to they never useing the human foot for any thing else but fights.

I agree, Bubbly, and the trouble she gets into may begin her journey away from Shredder. She's going to have a lot of emotional baggage to sort through. After Shredder warned her at the beginning of the episode and then she disobeyed him with the robotic Foot Soldiers, I was thinking that she is probably going to be in deep trouble.

I love this episode.
I guess its to the unemployment line with the human foot soldiers :-(. I love them, but the poor blokes were nothing but fodder. I see the robot foot soldiers being a main stay. they are a throw back, and the writers made it feel like a natural evolution with Shredder's empire growing and teaming with Kraang and using the Kraang tech.
but hey, we get the Teenage Mutant Luddite Turtles to fight the machines and pave way for the working man. :tlol:
I actually dig this arc with Karai Shredder and Splinter. I'm eager to see where it goes. I hope that eventually Karai breaks loose on her own. Karai kind of had a fledgling big boss feel when she was sitting in her chair with foot soldiers at her side.

So...yeah. Kinda late to this but, it was an alright episode. Find it interesting that the photo of Tang Shen Karai was looking at was half-torn up. No doubt that was intentional and who did that.
Liked Raph in this one. Especially when it's him of all people telling Don not to worry about April too much. Still begrudgingly on Leo's case on his leadership but shows he still cares about him. The part where he sees Leo falling I felt could've been a neat throwback to his reaction to almost losing Leo in the Season 2 finale (all two of them). And at the end where they kiss and make up was sweet.
Plus, am I the only one who was let down but slightly amused that we never get to see Leo's reaction to Splinter's revelation? Once he heard "She's my daughter" and thinking back to all the times they've modestly flirted with one another....yeah, so awkward, huh Leo?

Also did anyone notice how the episode was written?, It felt slightly different from previous episodes.

I finally watched the episode off of my recording and this is probably my favorite episode of the season so far. While I disliked Raph and the others being mean to Leonardo (don't give me the explanation "they are brothers!"), I really think this was really well-writtened. I actually thought that Splinter was going to tell his three younger sons the truth but it made complete sense that Leo would be the first one to know. Good thing Leo is over his feelings towards her....I hope. But this also means that Leo will likely go back to his plan of convincing Karai to leave the Shredder's forces. Does anyone still think it is too soon for the turtles to know the truth? Yes and no, for me.

Leonardo wants them to fight the way he fights not fight the best they can to get out of situations. So its the others wanting to fight their own unique way instead of fighting Leonardo style. They have a point and need to learn to adapt to each other's fight styles. So Leo needs to learn and so do they. That is the issue.
I was surprised that the robotic foot soliders looked exactly like the human foot soldier. I thought their would be a visual difference.

Then how come Leo didn't make a big deal out of this from the first season?
Then how come Leo didn't make a big deal out of this from the first season?
Because of what you said in your previous post, he's come off sacrificing himself twice to save his brothers and the world, so now he feels that they should respect him and adopt how he fights, but in doing so he unknowingly shows a lack of respect to them and their fighting ability thinking of it as an insult to his leadership.
And Splinter's lecture afterward was basically saying you must allow yourself and others around you fight the way they are most comfortable to be most successful.
It's the equivalent of QB in the NFL who is better at running forcing them to be a pocket passer because "That's how it should be done."
You must allow people around you to work to their own strengths, it's a lesson that everyone must learn to be successful at what they do.
^ Good point, jth. I hadn't thought about it from that angle.
That was a good episode. And with some nice interactions between Leo and Karai. The final confrontation was well done, both physically as well as emotionally. It seems Leo at the very least gave Karai something to think about.
The reveal at the end was very well done. I had hoped to see Leo's reaction but we'll probably get a flashback next time this storyline is picked up again.
I liked the Foot robots, although I would have preferred if they brought a number of stronger human ninja's from Japan instead. I did like though, that even though some were destroyed, the others were able to adapt themselves even to the turtles unpredictable fighting style. If this keeps up, we'll likely end up with a small group of elite fighting machines in the end.

Wow. This episode was brilliant. I liked the interactions between the turtles. That's really one thing they are getting right in this series. And dat ending. Wow.
Seems that the series is going to go through some brilliant character development soon. Loved the references to the movies. The humour is dying down a bit, but what I love about this series so far is they are pacing themselves. As long as the pacing stays the same, I'll be as happy as Mikey in a comic book and pizza heaven.

This was a very interesting episode. The trenchcoat, Tang Shen, duct tape on the mouth while ripping it off (of Leo this time and not Raph from The Secret of the Ooze) and "Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go!" references were all great. The Baxter Stockman billboard was also a great thing to see but also a nice sign of the progression of Baxter even though we haven't seen him progress in an episode yet.
Raphael was treated nicely in this episode. He kind of assumed the role of leader and did a masterful job with pigeons at the same time. :tgrin: I thought it was great too that he comforted Donnie and had a moment with Leo when he came back. I also agreed with Raph that everyone trains in their own way and that Leo should understand that. That scene also reminded me of the rooftop scenes in TMNT too.
The Foot Bots are pretty cool. I was also thinking that they would look different in some way but at least their eyes glow some times. They appear tough and I like that about them. I also like that they adapt to the attacks that they are facing to become even more formidable. The turtles need a tougher normal enemy to fight.
I enjoyed that Karai went against her "father" and attacked the turtles anyway. She has her own grudge now and wants to have her own battles. I hope she continues to plan attacks while Shredder is in Japan.
The ending was surprising in that Splinter told: 1. just Leo and 2. so fast. I figured that Splinter wouldn't tell them for quite awhile but Leo now knows. I wonder how long the others won't know about Karai. I assume Raph might find out next or maybe they'll all three find out together soon.

Really liked this episode. Though, there hasn't been an episode I haven't liked.
The relationship between these four brothers is awesome to watch. Leo being a know-it-all really gives the opportunity for his other three brothers to bully him, though sometimes they can take it too far. (especially Raph) When they wrote Lamenardo on Leo's sword I just wanted to hug him. :( My maternal instincts were kickin' in. Totally would have chewed them out.
My favorite moments would have to be when Mike and Don get past Leo, Leo in Karai's tiny cage, and the turtles having a bad influence on the robofoot.
-Leo's expression when Mikey boogies past him. XD And then he quickly turns around to see sneaky Donnie, you can tell he's probably thinking, "aw crap, Einstein's got something up his sleeve"
-I firmly believe that Karai's sticking big, tough Leo in that tiny cage just speaks to her adorable sense of humor
-And Mikey screaming that their crazy has become normal as the robofoot hop like monkeys after them, hilarious!
Also, there's something that has been bugging me for a while about the whole Karai/Leo dynamic. It might not actually be a problem because it depends upon a lot of factors but . . . aren't they technically, genetically, related? If Splinter is Karai's biological father and he was the one that supplied the turtles with the human half of their dna then . . . would that not make her their sister? If so, Leo must be all kinds of mortified right now. :( I hope I have it wrong though. I don't think the writers intended for it to play out like that.

this episode made me excited for the rest of this series. and the reactions i see from most people here seem to agree.
No one seems to have too many issues with the characters in this episode. Mikey was mature-er, while still being goofy, it wasnt another donnie development episode, yet he still had some good scenes, aside from lameonardo (which was all 3) raph wasnt overly bullying and comforted donnie and realized he was wrong with leo, and leo still had personality and development. Add in that this episode nailed the brotherly interaction and gave each turtle a decent part, the characters made this episode.
This episode did lack some of the more goofy humor (which i really didnt mind) and had a more serious tone, especially at the end, but still included some scenes that were lighter and funnier: "go ninja" raph and his pigeons, crazy becoming normal.
With this, it moved the karai story arc along, introduced new enemies that werent mutants, included a teaser to baxter with the billboard, and the twist ending (which an earlier poll showed that 90% of us did not expect).
Hope the show keeps this up, because this was, to me, one of the, if not the best episode yet.

I loved the episode. I thought it was awesome how they worked in a little love for the 87 series and the bodacious reference to Secret of the Ooze. I do think stories of Leo and Raph butting heads can get a little tired but I liked it enough to overlook that. I actually thought after what Leo did in the season finale by showing his dedication would maybe put Raph in check on challenging him but I guess not. I can't wait to see how Leo reacts to the news about Karai either. I also like the fact that there are footbots too. That way the Turtles can really hack them up. I love the human foot too though because they remind me of the foot from the first movie. Great episode I think.

For the record I voted Mikey's rendition of Vanilla Ice as the best quote but I REALLY think the best quote was when Raph said that an iguana with a hat was as ridiculous as a "turtle in a trenchcoat". I LOVED that. Also did anyone else think that when Mikey was saying "you're my ninja" that it was referencing a line that he COULDN'T say??? I was thinking that was a little edgy for us of the adult crowd. Maybe he wasn't inferring that though and I just thought of it that way.

Yea, this was, by far, the best episode of the season so far. When they stay on the Shredder/Foot/Karai side of things, I seem to dig it. It's when they diverge off that and go to mutants, aliens and robots (I know the Foot were robots tonight but at least they fought like the Foot) that I lose interest. So that is why I am not holding my breath for next week's episode about Mutagen Man. But this weekend's episode was a winner.

And justifiably so, that just seemed pretty douchey, mean-spirited, and out-of-character for Mikey and Donnie, I'm fine with raph doing it, but not the other two. and don't give me that "they're brothers" excuse. I mean, I'm not shedding any tears or calling them jerks, but...really?

It's marker on the sword. :trolleye:
1. Not enough time to carve a weapon that's probably iron or steel, with letters that thick.
2. None of the turtles have weapons that could create carvings of letters that thick. They're either too blunt or not the right width/shape.
3. At least with marker you can wipe it off. Can you imagine Splinter's face if they permanently carved graffitti onto a sword? He'd hang them up by their half shells for defacing their weapons.
I don't really know what to think about the "lame-o-nardo" thing. (Although it was Raph who did it) It feels harsh/hurtful, even if they are brothers, and especially after all they've gone through together so far.
One disadvantage of this series is that they can a bit extreme at times in showcasing an episode's morale or lesson. To the point it feels out of the blue.
The way Raph, Mikey and Donnie looked at Leo after that scene and walked away, it reminded me of a fanfic once about Leo being disrespected.
Anyone noticing as well the turtles were practicing in the middle of the street? Everyone would be able to see them if they look up or out of their window.
Other than that, still a great episode with some well executed plot development and action. Definitely on of my favorites. Really looking forward to the next one as well.

In my honest opinion, I don't think Karai thought her "Cunning Plan" All the way through. Not only did she go against Shredder's orders (no doubt pissing him off), But she also Leo off when she tried to kill him and his family, which pissed him off, and probably gave him a good reason to come after her.

I think the Lame-O-Nardo thing was definitely all Raph as he's called Leo that once before. Yeah, it was definitely harsh, but as I've said, siblings can be that way to their other siblings. It doesn't make it right that it was done, but Raph did make up for it in the end.
As for Karai, no, she didn't think her plan through, and that's the problem. She's definitely going to pay for it later on.

Great episode. Reasons were already explained but am I the only one who missed the Leo One-shot callback? Aside from him falling, there was nothing that even resembled that Mirage comic....

Yes, I agree with VA that the one-shot adaptation will occur later on. And that's fine with me seeing as how I'm curious to see how they will adapt it.

I can't wait to see future Leo/Karai skirmishes. Loved how the writers handled it in this episode and looking forward to seeing how Leo deals with whatever she has planned next. I'm going to miss Shredder. Hopefully he won't be gone too long. I'd like to see a few scenes with him roming around Japan. That'd make a nice B story in a future episode.

loved this episode and watched it a few times already...especially that there was more new great music from sebastian III was awesome in my book!...
has anybody else the feeling that we may be getting a new mondo gecko here with the iguana with the top hat mike finds in the intro of the show?...I mean why the hell putting in something as odd as a stitched out once real live iguana in the first place and second...the ooze can transform any freaking thing...

Except for that part about throwing weapons, the rest of the scene (for me personally) felt like Jason Biggs. Although it may have been a little off.
Maybe they forgot that one line during recordings and had to add it later on.

I found it interesting that the shot was focused on Donnie scanning for the mutagen canisters as Leo said that line. It's probable that it is hinting that Donnie is already responsible for a random joe getting mutated (Timothy is as random a you can get even if he did mutate himself) since April and her father are his responsibility and the entire next to impossible task of reversing the mutations is on his shoulders.
But it can also be foreshadowing something as well.

Has anyone noticed that this forum has been sorta dead lately?
Yes, 7 pages an episode for season two as opposed to 20+ for season one episodes seems like a dead forum to me.
FINALLY AFTER THIS PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO HEAR FANS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE LEO/KARAI THING AND KARAI ONLY EXISTS AS A TURTLE LOVE INTEREST BECAUSE THEY OFFICIALLY HATE EACH OTHER NOW.
Hate is such a strong emotion that it can often lead to love... Just saying

Really? It didn't sound like another person to me. It sounded just like Jason.

Hmm. It didn't sound off to me, but if that's the case, maybe they did that because Jason wasn't able to be there that day. His wife is expecting a baby, so maybe he had to take her for a checkup or something.

it threw me off a lil and so I went back several times and I came to the conclusion that it is def someone elses voice.could be wrong of course, but I am sure...
sometimes there is a change in dialogue in the last minute and the voice actor may not be available at that moment.thats what I am assuming happened here...
hey, I thought his wife already delivered that baby?I guess I must have missunderstood some comment from him the other day then...;)
hahaha, that random joe comment from leo still makes me laugh;)..but I didnt even notice he s looking at don in that moment...I hope he stays unmutated this time,)...well, un-more-mutated than already;)....
Well this definitely makes Target: April more interesting now.
Karai will be after April again, Leo knows who Karai is, but the others don't, and they'll try to take her out for good.
Will Leo make decisions based on his knowledge of Karai that make the other Turtles question his judgment and leadership? Ooh, can't wait for that!!!
Also: Leo's voice is dubbed in some spots, like the spot where he says "Sensei wants me to train you, so that's what I'm gonna do." It definitely done by the guy that did Leo's voice in the Video Game.

Yah, really looking forward to seeing how it's done too.
I'm really curious how Leo's / Karai's interactions will be from now on, I wonder if this new found information will affect these missions?

Yeah, In the 2003 version Donnie was about as random a person you can get when it came to unfortunate Mutations. So Random that the words "Donnie" and "Monster" don't even belong in the same sentence.

Now you got me all excited for that episode. *_*
I really don't know why Leonardo wouldn't tell his brothers about Karai before they confront her again.. It would just feel unnatural.
Sure, Splinter told HIM alone, but he never mentioned he should keep it a secret to his brothers. I'm sure he'd want them to know as well.
But either way, if he DOESN'T tell them, we're in for one heck of an episode.

Don't you guys think it really puts Karai in incredible danger since Shredder knows that she's not his daughter and might really take her out if she truly defies him and makes him look foolish? I think it would be kinda cool for a character to die on a kid's show. I'm not sure if that's ever happened and I don't think that will happen here. I'm just saying that Shredder really has no compassion whatsoever for Karai and I think that creates a cool dynamic of the audience kinda fearing for her safety and he being totally clueless to the danger.

I don't really think Leo knows how to tell his brothers that Karai is their Sensei's daughter. He was serious about what he said about coming after her if she attacks his family in any way (and yes Targeting April does count regardless about how April feels about the Turtles.). But this will cause an emotional conflict because that means Karai is part of his family as well.

Finally saw it. Wow! What a great episode to, so far, another great season!:tgrin:
That scene where Leo beats Karai, I swear, I thought I saw blood come out of her mouth. It was just epic. And when he comes down and points his sword at her. Man, it was awesome.:tcool:
And that pinball effect was really cool. It's amazing what animation can bring these days.
I really like the new designs for the Robotic Foot Ninjas. They don't have to be divided into a different color to show that they're robots. I like how they blend in with the regular ones. It makes the Foot a lot more dangerous.:twink:
I can't wait for the next one. Already, I like Casey Jones in the preview, but I need to see the episode to make my decision if it's good.
Otherwise, who felt they were getting another Lord of the Rings vibe with Raph and the pigeons? I swear. It reminded me of Gandalf talking to a moth before an eagle came.:tlol:

Didn't they all die in the Same As It Never Was episode?
I have faith in Ciro et all, that if a death ever pops up in this series, it will be done well. And it doesn't mean the character will STAY dead. There's all sorts of ways to bring them back, you're only limited by your imagination.

I for one am glad that they don't look like the foot soldiers. Like I said before, this shows works better when it's not trying to be like the previous shows. I especially liked when Raph took a shot at the 87 cartoon on the "trench coat" gag.
I'm glad the humor wasn't as out there like the previous episodes. Mikey was more Mikey than just Mikey being the kid of the group. The action was really well done.

Considering the Turtles would have a hard time figuring out which Foot Ninja they can cut to pieces and which once they have to simply knock out.
As much as I hate to say "Once you go Bot you don't go back." We may see human Foot Soldiers again, but the Foot Bots are going to be here for the long haul.

They probably didn't notice it because they were too busy trying to get past Leo, and Leo was too focused on trying to defend the restaurant. Heck, I didn't even notice the billboard until someone here mentioned it and then I caught it.

I loved the character development/focus on Leo this episode. He never gets a lot of attention besides ordering the others around and general stuff. He is really the Batman of the group and is was cool to see some of that in this episode with the interacting with Karai. Leo really shined and I felt so bad when he got caught and slipped away from Raph, that was a heart stopper. The emotion in this episode was great with some of the serious plot development taking place. Great job Jason Biggs, hope we get to see more intense Leo episodes like this full of heart and emotion.
This felt like an early S1 episode with the moral of the story, in fact didn't we have a similar one early S1? At least we got the obvious Karai is Splinter's daughter mystery out of the way that everyone pretty much knew since the first half of S1..And the robot foot? I kind of wanted them back but not like this, they look exactly the same but they're robots? a bit boring. Average episode.

Well, "New Girl in Town" was more about Raph saying that Leo was a horrible leader and that he could take the job, which didn't go well at all. In "Follow the Leader" it was more about Leo questioning their techniques on how to defend the restaurant, and the Turtles saying that what they did was fine. Besides, Leo was questioning his role as leader in this one, whereas in "New Girl in Town" he pretty much was more about not wanting the burden of leadership. The premises are a bit similar but still different enough to warrant two different episodes.
And I agree that I definitely want to see more intense Leo episodes.

I agree!!! I'd like to see one that's not centered around Karai though unless she's captured somebody he's trying to rescue... I get that she's mad at him and all that but it does kinda make it feel like they are reusing old plot lines a bit and I feel like Leo could use a 'I'm going out to prove myself as leader' plot!!!

It would have been nice to see Leo's reaction when Splinter told him that Karai is his daughter but at least he knows now. In the next episode that featured her, Leo didn't seem uneasy about hurting her to protect April after learning this. Did any of you feel that it was too soon for Splinter to tell him this since I know some other people on the forums thought that it was.
BubblyShell22
12-25-2013, 08:22 AM
No, I don't, especially because Leo knew something was up and wanted Splinter to confide in him. I just want to know when the others are going to find out the news and what their reaction will be.

Not really super interesting, but nice. Fighting scenes were awesome, Karai was awesome as always, and I think it sets up future events. Cyber Foots were interesting, but I'd prefer if they had different design from human ones.
