Sorry about the technical difficulties last week... but now we can get back to our regularly scheduled program. :)

This season seems to be a big one for our dear Donatello. He has had his hands full since last season, but it doesn't seem like it's going to get any easier.
Donatello is plagued with guilt right now - Pulverizer, who was ever so eager to be a ninja (who looked up to the turtles as role models), took too big a risk and cost him his humanity - his life has been ruined by mutagen. Donatello had promised to keep him out of harms way... but he failed.
The turtles tried to stop the Kraang from delivering a shipment of mutagen to the Shredder. But in their cockiness, they unleashed a torrent of mutagen canisters upon the boroughs. Their foolish actions put the city in danger, and it cost Donatello the one loving soul whom meant more to him than anything...
His brothers tell him to relax and focus on collecting the canisters - April would calm down eventually... right? They don't know the pain that plagues his conscience.
So now Donatello struggles with his studies of the mutagen to find an antidote - a retro-mutagen. A way to make things right again... to stop the Kraang and cure their victims. To make April love him again.
If Donatello knew the new figure entering April's circle, who knows how desperate he could be to keep from losing his April permanently.
Will the wit and skill of a skull-faced hockey vigilante woo April back to her character's destiny portrayed in so many other reincarnations?
Will Donatello succeed in creating an antidote?
And what danger could it put his family into if it got into the wrong hands?
Stay Tuned!

Play nice and have fun!

Looking forward to this episode. Not only because of Casey, but also because I'm curious what they're planning for Mutagen Man.
Haven't read the summaries or watched the preview, but I'm kinda hoping something good will come out of this episode for Timothy/Mutagen Man.

Wow this may be my favorite of the season so far!
It was so creepy yet cool seeing Mutagen Man evolving through the episode!
He was growing more organs and what looked to be muscles in his arms and legs through the episode.
I really didn't care for Casey so far but he didn't get much screen time.
The humans on this show really suffer from lack of detail.
On the same note though I'm very glad we are seeing more people in the streets even a man driving a car.
I have to wonder if that cat that got hit with the mutagen is ok though.
I'm really glad Donatello has a heart and they didn't kill Tim.
They really need him I think to figure this all out.
Either that or capture a Kraang and force it to tell them how to reverse the mutagen.
I have to wonder though what in the world are Mutagen Mans arms and legs made from?
Oh btw the name Laird on the back of Mutagen Mans arms and legs made me really happy since he created the character, that was really sweet of them to do that.
FANTASTIC episode! So much going on... April's still mad at the guys and even turned off her T-Phone! Poor Timothy's lost his mind and is the key to building the retro mutagen! An awesome debut for Casey Jones as well. Seems like he'll be a fun character this season. Can't wait to see him don his crime fighting mask and gear! I also really liked how they ended the episode...

I gotta say, I thought it was really just O.K...not bad, but I guess I felt a little underwhelmed by it? We barley saw any of Casey, I think that's what disappointed me the most. Mutagen Man was cool and creepy, but I really didn't understand his motive. Wanting April to be his friend? What? Why not just stay with the turtles? I get that he was probably mad at them (even though his mutation was HIS fault) but still. Going after a girl he's never met (let alone when he was HUMAN, as a monster) and expecting her to be his friend? It just didn't make much sense to me...maybe he can't think straight because of all the mutagen? Oh well, lets get to the good.
Casey. Although we didn't really see him do much aside from things we already saw in previews/clips, he was still really cool. I can tell he's going to be a good character, I think we'll really see that once he meets the turtles. Aside from my complaints, Mutagen Man was cool...his voice was creepy (couldn't really understand some of it, but still) and the design is really cool. I liked how Donnie would talk to him in his lab, too bad we probably won't see that anymore. The turtles were great, especially Donnie. Even though I hope he accepts that he won't be with April eventually, you gotta admit, the scenes with him spying on April and Casey and talking to Tim about it were hilarious (She LOOKED at him!) and that face he made with the pink background was funny. The new show that Mikey was watching is pretty cool, not as annoying as Space Heroes was. Obviously a nod to Power Rangers. Splinter's lesson with Don was also very nice, and taught a pretty good lesson. I hope he doesn't forget about it though, like he did with his staff lesson in "Metalhead". And lastly, those shots of the turtles in the shadows against the moon were EPIC.
All in all, it was a decent episode. Not as good as the last one, but definitely not as bad as "Invasion of the Squirrelanoids". The next episode doesn't look like it'll have ANY redeeming qualities about it. This had Mutagen Man AND Casey, the next has Mikey getting acne...

It was because he was complaining to Tim about April and told him all of his thoughts and stuff.
Not to mention Don said that Tim was lonely.

I thought it was a great episode. I looked at it like this Donny telling Mutagen Man all the good qualities about April so he latched on to that and maybe developed feelings for her of some sorts. The cartoon was more of an homage to Voltron then Power Rangers. The stealth scene was awesome. I love Mutangen Man he was awesome. The sound of his voice was pretty cool!

I know what Don said, but it still doesn't make sense to me. How does hearing Don complain about April make Tim want to be her friend? And did he seriously not have enough common sense to just stay in the lair? Did he really think a girl he never met would accept a giant monster appearing out of nowhere trying to be her friend? If Tim was lonely, he should have just stayed with the turtles. Don made him a voice box so he could communicate, so he would've probably made him limbs at one point or another too. Maybe I'm just over thinking it.

I liked it still not better than my favorite episode so far in this version but I like it. So Casey goes with April because he needs a tutor to keep up his grades to stay on the Hockey team? IDW anyone? The easter egg I noticed was the Laird voice box, could be more but it as the only one I saw.

Yup I noticed the voice box I poste in the Easter egg thread. Might have been the only Easter egg in the show.

Great episode, though I wish Tim was going after April for Donnie, not himself but it is what it is. I really can't wait for the Target: April O'Neil episode which I believe is next.
I also like the Voltron series wannabe.

I loved this episode! Mutagen Man is one of my all-time favorite TMNT characters and I really enjoy this new take on him so far. :tlove: Mutagen Man aside though, I'm still not sold on this version of Casey. I love his new design, but the personality and voice didn't do much for me in this episode. Hopefully that will improve as we see more of him throughout this season.

Voltron you mean. Although I do like how the robot looked more like Mazinkaiser Z. I'll post my thoughts later on, but wow, it's so sad to see what Timothy has become. As for Casey, this is the first time we see him before he became a vigilantee. He was always a crimefighter from the first time we see him. I kinda hate how he started putting moves on April right from the start. They're gonna go through the whole thing where 'the guy is an asshole, the girl hates him, eventually falls for him cause hey, girls love assholes, right?' trope.

Great episode. Mutagen Man was cool/creepy and it was a nice, subtle intro for Casey without showing everything in their hand at once. The new Voltron parody series was also quite amusing. I hope that becomes a running gag from season to season: One of the Turtles discovering a new parody of an old cartoon. Maybe in Season 3, Raph can discover a Street Sharks parody and the bros endlessly complain about how much it's ripping them off.
Another great episode, IMO the best of Season 2.
Man, I don't know what it is about Donatello, but I've never connected with a character in all the Turtles incarnations more than Donnie in this adaptation.
He's just written so well, and most the episodes surrounding his character are some of the most powerful ones.
The fact that he's fighting with his feelings and emotions, and now that Timothy turns on him because the Turtles attacked him and that they weren't his real friends (Which in a way I don't think Leo, Raph, & Mikey ever really were Timothy's friend), now in a way, Donnie's lost another friend based on actions caused by his brothers.
It's just something you wouldn't wish on anyone.

great episode. love this version of casey, and although i already hate how theyre making casey and april seem like a couple, i can get past it. and, i liked seeing april finally fight, and the beginning of casey fighting.
also am enjoying leos new obsession with training his brothers. im seeing this as one of the maturities the writers talked about that we would see throughout the series, and it kinda reminds me of 2k3
my only problem is that the next episode sounds like it will be a less serious/important episode for the season, and after seeing this one, i feel like it will be a let down

I kinda hated how Mike and Raph just flat out attacked Timothy without trying to talk him down first. These idiots are so short sighted. It's like they forgot he used to be a kid. If it wasn't for that line Leo said at the end, it's like everyone except Don forgot he was a human. They really did treat him like crap since day one. Being an annoying doofus doesn't really justify all that.

Yeah didn't really like that either. I know the guy was annoying but he didn't deserve that. Mikey treats him as an aquarium Raph...Moving on, I hope Casey isn't a brain dead doofus like 2k3 (despite liking that version) so far thats the impression I got from him. Not bad just not much. :ohwell:

Given how un-phased everyone but Donnie was to his mutation, it's no surprise how they treated him. At least Leo showed some condolences to Don by telling him that's not Timothy they're dealing with anymore, but even then, yeah I agree it was a tad callous for them.

Wow, I was so nervous about how Nick was going to characterize Casey (seeing as I'm not too thrilled with a lot of other characters), but I just LOVE him! He's got just the right amount of egotism and charm, obviously totally fearless but not exactly the brightest bulb in the bunch. This was such a great way to introduce him, I can't wait to see more of him. My only issue is that thanks to April he's probably going to think the turtles are a threat right off the bat without giving them a chance, since even with Timothy he made a few comments about how cool he thought he was, and I'm not sure Casey would have started attacking if Tim had been acting sane. Now Casey's got this idea that ALL mutants are a threat so I'm sure it'll take a good brawl for him to accept the turtles.
I gotta say though, April is really ticking me off. I understand she's frustrated and hurt about her dad, but she acts like the turtles have created this huge menace in her life. It's because of THEM she's even alive, she started training under THEIR Sensei, she owes them so much and for as long as she's known them I find it hard to believe she doesn't know that Don will do everything in his willpower to save her father. Initial anger I can sympathize with, but now she's all out acting as though she'd rather see them dead than ever have to talk to them again. If she's harboring anger, how about she aim it at the ones who actually is responsible for this whole mess? The Kraang and the Foot. Or are the turtles just easier targets for her?
Anyway, I liked Splinter's lesson with Don, and it seems like he's slowly starting to realize that even if it hurts to see her with Casey, like Splinter said he can't really force April to like him. I wish they had sort of driven that home a little better and had Don really show that he's coming to terms with this, since that would also maybe not cause such a huge, stupid Case/Don rivalry later, but then the ending just sort of dashed my hopes for all that. Still, I love how Don is so focused on Tim, despite all that Tim did to them, Don's empathy is so powerful, and I hope we get to see Don turn towards these things he does have control over, using his skills in ways that can actually contribute, instead of wasting his time with April and that pointless tangent.

I've been waiting for this episode since Pulverizer returns and I wasn't disappointed at all. It was very difficult to watch Mikey Leo and Raph going after MM. I know he was a goofball when he was human but I couldn't help liking the guy. It was nice to see Don feeling remorse for all Tim had lost. You could tell Don hated to trick him towards the end of the episode when he was frozen. That one line MM utters after drinking the mutagen and prior to freezing sort of tugged at my heartstrings. "Donny? Something's wrong." Since Mutagen Man is supposed to play a big role this season, I can't wait to see him showing back up.
Casey was pretty much what I was expecting him to be. Although he does seem a bit full of himself. I'm looking forward to seeing him being fleshed out in future episodes. Also nice cameo by premutated IC. I was wondering if that was the same cat or not but I didn't want to spoil things for my better half. So yeah I did catch that.
Out of all 4 eps we've seen so far, I like this one the best since I've been waiting for the payoff to Pulverizer Returns for so long. Not too sure about next week's. Mikey Gets Shellacne is sounding a little ridiculous to me, but I haven't seen it yet so maybe it'll turn out to be the opposite. It's just great to be getting at least 3 more new episodes in a row.

It would make her outburst rather pointless if she forgave them right away after seeing them after so long. But yeah seeing them fighting the Mutagen Man and saying "Oh I knew they were behind this." as if they deliberately sent Mutagen man after her just to annoy her.
It would have been better to have a moment where she at least stuck around and listened to their conversation, so that way she can at least hear that Donnie was trying to find a way to cure her father. Or at least have a reaction of her listening to the outcome of the thing and at least gaining a small sense of compassion for Donnie at least before she returns to her house.
However as much as it seems like it, I don't think this will be the end we see of Mutagen Man. If there is a way to bring a villain back, even a supposedly dead one it will be done.
As for Splinter's lesson. This isn't completely my theory since other people have had the same thought. But I had seen this possibility since early on in season one.
But I think one of the main reasons Donnie was given a crush on April (aside from it being funny) is that it was being set up to mirror the relationship between Hamato Yoshi/Teng Shen/ Oroku Saki.
The Private lesson between Donnie and Splinter was to show Splinter was starting to recognize his son was started down the Shredder's path and he is attempting to derail it from happening. And even at the end he is telling Donnie to respect April's decision and if she returns it's because she wants to.
Still Donnie is meant to play the Role of Hamato Yoshi or the Role of Oroku Saki is still up in the air.

:o:) Oh God.
It's the "Pulverizer Returns" all over again.
- Tim is acting cray-cray...for the second time.
- There is an annoying character in this episode, and it isn't Timothy.
- Donnie is so worried about a person, but he can't control the conflict.
However, I really like this episode for its plot, even though it feels like a carbon copy of the "Pulverizer Returns". With that being said, I hope the next episode is good.
Edit: Also, I couldn't help but laugh when Mutagen Man tried to run. It just looked so funny.

You are unnecessarily self-righteous and morally misguided.
Anyway. It was a good episode, but then the whole season's been good so far. Casey is being played as kind of an arrogant douche, but that works for the character. The mecha cartoon thing was so cute and I'm sure there's so much mileage that can be taken from it. I felt for Don all through the episode. I don't really care about shipping and I certainly don't care who April does or doesn't end up dating, but it's nice how it was handled there. Okay, Mutagen Man's problem with the Turtles doesn't make sense, since his situation is all his own doing. But he was always kind of an unreasoning idiot, so fair enough.

Wow. What an episode. So now we know how Tim got transformed by drinking the ooze. I was shocked that Tim wanted April for himself and didn't want to help the Turtles get her back, but I had a feeling he did resent them for turning him into what he was. Loved Casey's debut and thought he was great. Josh did a great job voicing him, and I love how he flirts with April but she doesn't return the feeling. Don's jealousy was understandable, and I did feel badly for him as well as for what he had to do to Tim. Definitely can't wait for next week. Overall, a really decent episode. Can't wait to see more of Casey. Oh,and I love the show that replaced Space Heroes as it still has that same vibe with the captain slapping that other guy. It sounds like the same voices, too, which makes me relieved as I was afraid they wouldn't use them again.
Don: Why would you eat random pizza from a roof?
Mikey: Roof pizza's on my list of ten favorite pizzas.
Leo: This show is awful, and you guys complained about Space Heroes.
Splinter: Donatello, I am going to teach you to learn to like falling down.
Don: What? *gets knocked down by Splinter*
Splinter: Did you enjoy that?
Don: No.
Splinter: Then perhaps we should try again. *knocks Don down a few more times* Did you like that now?
Don: No, Sensei, not at all.
Splinter: Then perhaps you should learn that one cannot force someone to like something.
Don: Well of course no one wants to--Oh, you're talking about me and April.
Splinter: For one so intelligent, the obvious alludes you.
Bill: What is it, Jim?
Jim: Some giant ooze jar. Stay where you are and put your hands on your...jar.
*both of them get knocked down*
Bill: What do I tell dispatch? Some guy with ooze legs is running loose in the city?
And that's all I can think of for quotes. See you next week, guys.

Yup not my faovrite incarnation of Don since his dialogue made him sound like a overly obsessed stalker. I know that wasn't the intention but, how safe would you feel if some boy/girl knew where you we're and what you do at any given time of the day?

Liked this episode. Not sure about Casey yet. Will have to wait to see if his character develops. Would like to have seen something of Leo's reaction to Splinter's reveal that Karai is his daughter from the end of last weeks episode. Skipped right past any fallout from that.

I really like the episode.
And poor Timothy. :/ Don was holding hope he can still help him. We'll see.
There were melancholy peppered in this episode too.
1) Don considered himself a freak, and already trying to settle on that fact that April will only like a human.
2) He talked to Tim because "he was a good listener", implying he can't really trust his brothers in a heart to heart conversation. That's... really sad.
3) April really didn't want to contact them but still kept the metal fan.
Splinter's "don't force someone to like something" is a really good lesson. As for Casey, I like him. He and April had good dynamics.
And the fight in shadows is amazing.

:-? You know, with Tim chasing to get April, it makes me wonder if Tim had any friends in his childhood. This is just a guess.
I mean... Tim seemed so determined to make April his friend, it looked like he was going to go insane. I know it's probably because of his memory loss, but still, it can be really sad if you think deeply about it.

I agree with some of you who said that April is starting to get annoying. I LOVE the fact that she's mad, but it's like she has a pure hatred for the turtles now, even after they saved her numerous times, gave her a temporary home, and trained her. I just think they should've handled it a better way when she was watching the fight...like, lets say MM had Don pinned and was about to drip acid all over him, and then you see her fan fly in and hit MM, freeing Don. The turtles turn to April, but she has a confused expression on her face, and runs. Maybe that would work? IDK.
What are you guys talking about with ICK? I remember the cat getting hit with the acid, but why would that be ICK?

Well, actually I was referring to when he was mutated and how it literally jacked him. The Timothy we knew would never outright attack the turtles. Even they treated him like dirt he still looked up to them as heroes.
Unfortunately, it looks as though what Leo said maybe right: "Whatever part of Timothy that was inside that thing, it's gone." So it's not really Tim fault because he's not in control of himself.

Wow, it seems like everyone is just about mixed on the whole Mutagen Man/Timothy plot line.
In my opinion, I sympathise with Timothy, but at the same time, I don't like his Mutagen Man persona. I mean, I can understand why Tim would be upset at the turtles. They basically treated him like he was a monster/wimp, with the latter being when he was still human. However, that gives him no reason to start attacking the very people who tried to help him.
By the way, I think Mutagen Man is a hypocrite. In one scene, he tells the turtles to leave him alone, but in the past, he wouldn't leave the turtles alone. I can't understand that.

I'd say he's more like Dr Venkman.
He's after the girl and has all the confidence in himself.
The ego is definitely there, but there seems to be genuiness/honesty about his character that April might actually go for.

What's with these references like Voltron?
I loved it, but what do the children watching these shows think, they have no frame of reference? Do they think it's cool?
For the older fans there is clearly a lot of references in the show.
That squirelanoids episodes being an aliens rip off (very awesome one at that), how are children meant to get the reference to something like that?
Hopefully the children love it, but if they ever knew that it was a nod to something like the aliens films they'd be curious and want to watch them. Of course that could turn out to be very bad. They might start watching the movie and get bored before anything happened and write off aliens for good, lol!

I guess I missed the part where April hated Casey. It seemed like she didn't want the distraction of having I deal with anybody else as she tried to get her life back on track. I don't see Casey as an asshole or a bad boy. In fact he seems like your pretty basic high school jock (from real life, not television) who enjoys sports more than school work but has to succeed in the latter in order to keep the privilege of the former. I really liked how genuine he seemed to be with April. He didn't come across as a jerk about needing to be tutored he came right out and said it and didn't fight her on having to study.
And those who have an issue with the whole coming in to strong with April thing. Look at the kid missing teeth, Almost failing off the hockey team. Just because he's a jock doesn't mean he's used to a line of girls looking to get a piece of that sweet sweet Jones action. He's obviously not as familiar with talking to girls as could be at that age so he is doing what he thinks is right based on what he's seen on tv. Plus I'm pretty sure he's a cool customer anyway and that is why he is approaching this new situation as if it's old hat and not something new.
Last thought loved the whole Jones / O'Neil addressing of one another it was flirtatious without being to over the top.

I viewed it as Timothy wanting to protect April and using the word friend because of a lack of intelligence and vocabulary in his mutagen man form. After hearing the way that Donatello speaks about her and knowing what has happened to himself as a result of interactions with the turtles, it felt more like he was trying to protect her from a similar fate which seems all but avoided now that she has stopped hanging with the TMNT. By those standard she would only be his friend and not the turtles since he is doing his damnedest to keep her out of harms way as part of the machinations of the turtles

Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Just seemed like another episode.
- Decent intro for Casey Jones. Ciro said his storyline would take 3 episodes to unfold so I'll reserve judgement until then.
- Why was Mutagen Man continually going for the ooze? Not a huge deal but I would've liked some sort of explanation. I did like how he lost power when he ran out of mutagen.
- April is the worst. The level of her hatred for the Turtles right now makes no sense and makes me hate her as a character.

I was hoping to see Mutagen Man become an ally in a way and learn from his mistakes, but this downward spiral is definitely an interesting take.
You know, I could see him turning on the other three- but Donnie, too?
Actually, I kind of do like the fact his obsession for April comes into play. It's not clear why he wants her for himself or why he's willing to knock her to the ground or attack her (though, that could be lack of common sense and not knowing his own strength) - but it brings out a new selfish and demented side to him.
Well, I guess it's safe to say now that he's determined to take the turtles out, he's bound to hook up with the Foot or the Kraang now. Assuming the idea in the concept art wasn't scrapped, someone will alter his tank to have mutagen canisters hooked up in the back for instant recharges. So, in turn for feeding his growing addicting for the stuff, he'll serve as some added muscle to help his supplier.
Though, real quick on the design- any idea where the metal bracelets on his arms and leg came from? Or why one leg has it, and the other does not?
It's a shame it's hard to hear what he's saying some of the time, but it really makes the character more menacing.
... Though, when he has Raph pinned down, I'm sure he says "Goodbye", but anyone hear, "Die... Turtle."
It's actually pretty impressive that they could make a mutant just as goofy as he is frightening.
- Also, the episode puts an end to the theory that Casey bullied Timothy when he was human.

Well, they are just doing a perfectly accurate representation of how 95% of the female population really is when it comes to the guys (or jerks) that they always seem to fall for, while always spitting in the face of any "nice guy" (Donnie).
April is the worst. The level of her hatred for the Turtles right now makes no sense and makes me hate her as a character.
So you hate her for her hating the turtles? Seems ironic. :ohwell: April is grieiving for the loss of her father and even though she is not being fair, she is experiencing and going through grief and blaming the turtles right now because they were the only ones who could have prevented her father being mutated.
At any rate, I liked this episode more than I thought I would. I am actually shocked/disappointed that no one has made a gif yet out of that part where Don was showing Tim how April was looking at Casey with the goo goo eyes. That part totally caught me off guard and about made me choke on my drink.

Nice guys don't always finish last as you see on TV though. I know a lot of people with their significant others being normal people without being overly douchey or biker bad boys or whatever. It's just more nice guys need to have the balls to ask the girls out. It looked to me like Mutagen Man had a crush on April. He kept interpreting is a friend because Donnie would refer to April as his friend and not as his girl friend. And also hearing Donnie get upset that April was seeing someone else. So his barely rational mind was thinking "April doesn't like Donnie any more, maybe she will like me."
I'm sure Donnie has spoken about April multiple times, particularly following Mutation Situations. Mainly because much like Raphael's association with Spike, the Mutagen man is unable to talk so that way he has someone he could talk to who is unable to judge or criticize or tease him.
(When Raph says "You actually pour out your feelings to a vat of organs." It would have been good to have Donnie counter with "Says the mutant Turtle who rants to a normal Turtle.")

Just because someone's nice to you doesn't mean you have to date them. Being nice to a girl just because you want her to be your girlfriend is a jerk move, in my opinion, especially when she hasn't expressed any interest in you. Donnie should take this chance to move on. It's hard getting over your first crush, but you learn from it.
April will no doubt be back to being friends with the turtles by the end of this season. She has every right to want to take a break from them for the time being, especially after losing her father again. It was refreshing seeing her interact with someone other than the turtles, and Casey was entertaining and charming in his own way. At any rate, while I reeeeeally like Casey's new design, I was concerned about the seemingly new personality, or rather, the way he's been written. Some of my fears have been for naught, while I thought he came off as annoying in his initial trailer, he seemed like a pretty rad dude in this episode. As much as I hate to say it, given CJ has long been my favorite character next to Leo, I almost find myself rooting against him. Toned down humor, in THIS episode? This episode had me cracking up laughing all the way through, especially with Donnie's, "pretty girl eyelashes" scene, and the way everyone was reacting to Mutagen Man, plus Splinter telling Donatello he likes falling down. Have to agree with BabyTurtles on this one.
First off, Mutagen Man attacked Raph and Mikey first. They confronted him, weapons drawn, sure. But given the fact this guy could tear down walls without even knowing it and wouldn't think twice about harming or killing someone on purpose or by accident- it's completely understandable why they would be on guard. They confront him, Mikey gives him a mutant nickname, and his response is to hurl Mikey at a dumpster and pin down Raph as he drips acid down his face? Yeah. my pity well is drying up fast for this guy.
I feel bad for his mutation going haywire. But at this point, he's lost all sense of reason and compassion because of the choices he made.
Trust me, if the mutation had been an accident, or if made an effort to become an actual hero - I'd feel more sorry for him, or would be rooting for the guy. But that's not what happened.
He wanted to be a hero without putting any effort or dedication towards training himself, and got himself and the others in to trouble.
He wanted to become a mutant for instant hero results, despite the warnings. Donnie was fighting tooth an nail to stop him, but all he cared about was the mutagen.
The turtles eventually got everything under control, but he still willingly mutates himself. He turns into a blob and goes on rampage. The bad guys get away and set the building to blow up, while the turtles are forced to risk their lives to save his.
Donnie spends months taking care of him, working on a way to restore him... Only for him to tear down a wall of the lab, puts citizens in harms way, and tries to kill Casey and the Turtles so he can keep April to himself, all the while throwing her around and putting her in danger, too. Then if something happens to her by his own hand, I'm willing to bet he'll take his anger out on anyone he comes across, and wouldn't think twice about it.
As it stands, Timothy has gone from all around doofus to a massive threat. He sacrificed his humanity for incredible power, but has no understanding of right or wrong anymore. In his eyes, anyone who hurts him deserve to be killed.
And it's his own fault.
Just because someone's nice to you doesn't mean you have to date them. I actually don't see the love Triangle as corny. In previous incarnations it was largely a given that Casey and April would wind up together from the second they met. You can see it coming a mile away.
This is the first incarnation that has actually given Casey any competition in the form of the turtles. It's meant as way of helping Donnie grow up and prove who he is and his feelings for April. But yet it also has a darker purpose as well.
The private training lesson between Splinter and Donnie was to serve both as a warning about what path Donatello is heading and also an attempt as steering him in away from that path.

hey dudes and dudettes, I liked the Episode..they seem to have taken a huge bunch of the idw Comics into the Show here..at least regarding casey and his relation to April.he is tutored by her for he might be banned from the hockey Team.
I like the new Cartoon.hahah the pimp slap is back!!and it was really EPIC!!!:;=)
I found this to feel like a mix of various great Cartoons I grew up with most notably saber rider and thundercats(the lil critter in the tmnt Version)...

It was a good episode but not the best.
Yay, Casey is back, I wonder when he will meet the turtles.
Love the stealth fight.
I hope April doesn't stay mad at the guys for too long, Hope she will become friends with them again in the episode Target: April o' Neill.
Mikey's new show reminded me of a old 70s cartoon called Battle of the Planets.

that was awesome *_*
sorry but I'm not on the poor Timothy bandwagon.
he was a jerk....he got himself into this whole mess and tries to hurt the people that are trying to help him!? fine....sure Mikey and Raph kinda don't like him..but STILL! hurting Donnie!? and trying to get after April.......FOR HIMSELF!?
uncool....
I'm on Mikey and Raph's side...I would have kicked his butt on first sight.
I Gotta agree with her on this one because in a way......this is all his fault. After all, HE was the one who wanted become a mutant at the expense of his humanity. HE was too impatient and lazy to accept Donnie's training the first time, and HE endangered countless innocent lives just to find April. Not exactly warranting sympathy at the moment.
Anyway, Good Episode overall, but as always, I do have a few things I'd like to address about it:
1.) That was pretty naive of Donnie to just leave a cannister of mutagen with in Timothy's reach.
2.) Why did those two cops use nightsticks instead of just SHOOTING at Tim? (Okay, maybe it was for censorship purposes, but they didn't even draw them?)
3.) How is it that Mutagen Man can touch some things and people without melting them?
4.) I like how Mikey addresses that Donnie watching April with Casey was Creepy.
5.) When did April become such a colossal bitch? Seriously, she sees them getting beaten down by Mutagen Man and just walks away without lifting a finger to help them?

Nothing but the truth there ObiWanFan4life.
The past episodes speak for themselves, or rather you have spoken for them.
He's certainly no Darth Vader, but perhaps there's a bit of the whole Anakin to Darth Vader thing there with Timothy. It's a stretch I know, but an interesting way to look at things.

So when the main story arc needs a break they might return to resolve Timothy's issue.

Jesus, are you telling us your life story or something? You sound bitter because you're one of those "nice guys" that girls passed over in High School.
The reason the writers put this stuff in the show is because that's what works.
ROFL. Far from it my friend. But like I said, I've seen a lot of pretty girls with normal-looking nice guys that treat them right, and a few girls that cried about their jerk-ass boyfriends and I'm like 'uhhh.... then leave em?'. After seeing them not learn their lesson for the third time or so I just had to walk away from that noise. Cold I know, but I had my own live to live and didn't need extra drama from people that couldn't/wouldn't be helped.
I guess I don't like Casey being an arrogant creepy jerk. Sure, he wasn't perfect, and he wasn't exactly a ladies man, but he was never an a-hole on purpose. Even in the live-action movie when he was pissing April off, it wasn't on purpose, he just wasn't tactful and didn't know any better (he found out the hard way that not all women liked to be call babe or princess).
I just like Casey more as being a bad-ass vigilantee that's a bit awkward towards women than an arrogant a-hole with a 'this girl is already mine, she can't resist me' attitude. Not only that...but I'd rather see kick-ass Casey more than 'wannabe-new boyfriend' Casey. This IS an action show after all.
As for Timothy, I do feel sorry for him, and no matter what anyone says, he doesn't deserve his tragic fate, and he didn't have it coming. At that point in time in the show, all mutants were kick-ass turtles, dogs and fish and such. There was no reason to assume he'd become a blob monster. Hell, he even thought Fishface's legs were part of the mutation. The Shredder himself was expecting a mutant army, not random blob monsters.
And as for wanting to work for it? Dude, he's the average teenage fanboy. Who the hell wants to wait 5 years or so of training when it's cool to kick ass now? Vic was probably a fat slob all his life and now he's an agile back-flippin, acid spitting spider. From the looks of it, Slash is gonna be a huge powerhouse able to kick turtle-shell left and right, and that's WITHOUT 15 years of training. Hell, that's the whole spill with Bebop and Rocksteady now in the IDW comics, two silly guys eager for a mutant power-up and happy with the results.
As far as Timothy knew, he was going to turn into the next Newtralizer or Tiger Claw and help Donnie fight off the Foot that day. Noone knew he was going to become a blob monster. Sure Donnie was warning him over and over, but for all he knew, Timothy could have been the one to save the day that day.

One of the best things about watching the show as an adult is being able to appreciate things from a graphic/animation POV.
The episodes in this season are just going from strength to strength in that respect.
The transition between them jumping into the darkness as they leave the lair to go after the Pulverizer and then they're suddenly out on the roof - WOW.
And the melting into the shadows. It's not new to the show but I still think it looks incredible.

Okay, some answers to your points:
1. Don didn't know that Tim would eat the mutagen and gain his power that way. If he knew about this, I'm sure he wouldn't have left mutagen lying there, but since he didn't know, I don't think it was naive at all for him to do that because he wasn't aware of it. Or are you talking about the one in the Shellraiser? If so, then yes, that was a dumb move, but I don't know if Don knew it was there.
2. I'm thinking it was for censorship purposes and there were people out there, too. They probably didn't want to use their guns because the bullets would possibly have ricocheted off the jar and gone for other people, so they were just being safe about it. That's my theory anyway.
3. This I have no idea about. Must just be a weird thing they did for him. Then again, it's a cartoon and some things just aren't logical.
4. Yep, I liked that part as well and it's so true.
5. Because she's still holding a grudge against them for mutating her dad. It happens, and I'm glad she's not forgiving them right away as it seems more realistic. Besides, she probably figured they could handle it being ninjas and all. She will forgive them eventually, but it's going to take time.
Oh, and I loved the melting into the shadows part too. So awesome.

Still though, what was stopping her for throwing her fan to distract Tim? Even if she's still pissed about what happened to Kirby, did she just up and forget about the fact that they've saved her ass countless times. Realistic, maybe, but it just makes April an unlikable character (At least in my opinion).

Yeah, there comes to a point where being reasonably upset with them becomes just having an unreasonable grudge against them.

I agree with most of the posts above. I feel that in the short run, this may not have been that responsive, but after we see some additional episodes, this episode will keep its appeal, with its numerous questions involved. April's high school is shown for just the second time in the series (probably a senior now), but the biggest new addition was the follow-up to Space Heroes, and that was a clever gag by Donnie involving how crappy many old cartoons were. It makes you anxious about the outcome. As for Mutagen Man, nice job with regards to confusing what he's going to do next. But overall, you can have a solid episode with a break from the main villains attacking yet still introduce a lot more. The best non-Kraang/Shredder/Karai episode in the series so far. (BTW, at my local Wal-Mart yesterday, some of the TVs were playing the OT episode "Teenagers From Dimension X" and I told the customers (a father with two kids) that there is this new Nickelodeon show on, but he still believed the original was the superior version, and then told him to consider the online discussions about the new series).
Overall: 8.5/10

Pretty good episode. I like that Timothy's back in the show and not just sitting in a corner of Donnie's lab. I don't really care much for his character, but at least they're doing something with him finally. ;)
I don't care much for Casey yet either, so hopefully he'll grow on me. I think the missing teeth bother me more than they should.
The new "Voltron" show was pretty awesome, though! And loved Splinter's private lesson with Donnie. I feel like at the end of the episode when he says "There's always hope." that Splinter's kind of throwing the whole lesson out the window, but whatever.

Dude, it's his opinion. You act the same way with your posts, from what I've read so far.
As far my opinion goes, I liked this episode because it really dealt with Donnie's struggle of getting April to be their friend again. I kind of disliked April in this episode so far since she saw that the turtles were fighting against MM and yet she still didn't care for them or even bothered to thank them. She's acting like they changed Kirby on purpose (of which, THANKS MIKEY!). However, I did like how they brought in Casey, although he seems to be a lot more boastful in this version, which I find a little amusing. It reminded me of how Casey met April in the 2k3 episode "Nano". I found it odd that Tim decided to make friends with April as opposed to getting her back together with Donnie. I felt that the idea came out of nowhere or was a last minute thing just to be funny. I still liked that while Donnie wanted to find a cure for Kirby to make April happy, he still cared for the well-being of Timothy. That right there is how Donatello should be. He still had his priorities straight.
But overall a good episode.

Once again, I'm convinced that the writers love Donnie. Seriously, his episodes are the best. I'm still confused about Tim's motives but hopefully they'll explain that later in the season? Why April? Maybe because he doesn't like being a mutant and that April (initially) accepted the turtles for what they were? Donnie did say he was lonely. Oh yeah, the Voltron thing was awesome. Love the bad lip sync.
Sometimes I think Splinter is a douche but his lesson with Donnie was awesome. I wish someone would have told me that when I was 15 :/
A nice ep, but I think there were a little to much going on - the new cartoon, the stealth exercise (I liked that a lot though), introducing Casey, MM, the Donnie/April thing.
I don't mind April being angry with the turtles. She might not be fair, but she is sad about her dad getting mutated and "needs" someone to blame. Also liked Donnies "I'm a freak"-line. I think it'll be really interesting, if they dig more into that, as the show progresses - especially if they do a darker take on it

I never considered this until I saw your post, but that makes total sense/you are right. Nice insight. Hopefully Splinter can guide Don down the right path, I don't want to see an evil Donnie!

One of the best episodes to date. I was laughing so hard when Donnie fell into the garbage container after he saw April with Casey. And then he made that googly-bug eyes. The training session with Splinter was splendid as well.
And then the turtles were beating the ever loving crap out of Timothy. Things just get better and better.
For those who now don't sympathise with Timothy, what do you think will happen to him now?
Die already maybe? I never sympathize him. No one in the show ever does either, except Donnie (due to his responsibility for taking him as his disciple).
Not only that Timothy made poor judgments and stupid decisions (joining the Foot, wanting to be mutated eventhough he was warned countless times of the danger, etc), this time he decided to make enemy with the people who tried to help cure him. That is the last straw to me, traitors should be dealt swiftly, ruthlessly, mercilessly.
At least he's crystallized now and will not be a trouble for a long time. I was hoping for them to crush him to pieces and be done with it, but eh. Stay frosty, ugly.

You know after thinking over this all again and reading your posts it'd be a good time with April so angry at the turtles for Karai or the foot to be watching and see how skilled she is and try and get her to join their side.

One other thing that was bugging me in that episode is that she obviously stopped her training with Splinter but she still has the fan and was fighting Mutagen Man with it and said at the start of the episode she's going to have a new start and pretend to be a normal girl but she still has the fan, I would of thought she would have given the fan back to Splinter.
DarkLightDragon
11-10-2013, 01:12 PM
It's not so much as being mad at Splinter but rather just not have anything to do with anything mutant-related at the moment. She obviously wants to have some semblance of a normal life so being in contact with both the turtles and Splinter is a big 'no-no' for her right now.
Wow, what an episode. Definitely one of my favorites in the entire series so far.
I did feel sorry for Timothy, but he made matters only worse for himself, but we don't know if we can blame him for that. Like Leonardo said it seems the old Timothy is gone. Seeing him go out of control more and more was very well done and actually made me feel uneasy. And then seeing him even turn against Donatello was a big shock.
I was glad the other turtles didn't act as jerks like they did at the end of Pulverizer Returns. Mikey and Raph didn't attack Timothy immediately on first sight, and Leo's actions were aimed at defending his brothers.
This episode cemented Donatello even more as my favorite character. He feels the most human of all four and how he's the easiest to relate with. I liked his glimpses of jealousy and uncertainty, his feeling of being a freak while Casey is human, him worrying about April and him worrying for Timothy.
Heh, there goes my initial hope Mutagen Man was trying to help Donatello with April.
Casey was awesome as well, I really like his character. His expressions are much better when animated and his voice feels, well, very natural and nice to hear.
I like how April still doesn't want to go back to the guys just yet, I appreciate how the writers are taking the time for this. It seems April needs to be convinced for herself that no matter how much she wants to have a normal life again, some things can never go back as they were.
In the end, a great episode. No happy ending for Timothy, but I was glad to hear Donatello still calling Timothy a friend at the end of the episode. And the same goes for that little scene at the end of that TV show, giving Donnie hope as well.

:-? You know, with Tim chasing to get April, it makes me wonder if Tim had any friends in his childhood. This is just a guess.
I mean... Tim seemed so determined to make April his friend, it looked like he was going to go insane. I know it's probably because of his memory loss, but still, it can be really sad if you think deeply about it.
pretty much, my character break down of Tim goes like this
No one really likes/really wants him around - both the turtles and the foot...could easily be a person that wants to be accepted by his peers.
Tim is a person that doesn't like the way he is, so he easily changes his appearance - easily explains why he took the appearance of the turtle.
By becoming a ninja he tried to change himself as a person - doesn't work as he himself is still the same
so when the chance to change himself physically comes, it wasn't so much to become a hero as it was more to be something much different then he was then - maybe even become more accepted
he became different alright
at this point, the mutagen man is nothing but just what is leftover from Tim's personality...right now he is nothing more than a mindless animal (irony) looking for something to fill the void of what was once it's humanity

Okay: I'm gonna say it. I still don't like Casey's design.
1. Sometimes the animation on his face seems..well..messed up. Like when he says "What, like being a science Olympian?"
2. Why is there yellow flecks all over his suit? Is it barf? Is it mustard? Why is it on there?
3. Missing teeth. I'd be okay with maybe one on the side, but three right in the middle looks a bit awkward IMO.

As for April keeping the fan, maybe she did it for sentimental reasons since she doesn't want to hold a grudge against him as he didn't do anything.

Nice to keep Shredder and Karai out of these silly "Mutant of the Week" epsidoes. It makes their appearances darker.
I hoped Donatello would turn Mutagen Man normal again so we would have one less "Mutant of the Week". The only mutant I look forward to is Tigerclaw (and Bebop and Rocksteady if they appear).

Mutagen Man is not a "mutant of the week". His character was fleshed out over 3 episodes. A "mutant of the week" would be a character who is mutated in their debut episode (Spider Bytez, etc.)

Because most didn't really like him pre-mutation and are letting that bias get in the way of what his fate will be.
hey! I liked him pre-mutation XD I thought he was funny
but he's turning into a power hungry jerk >:Y
...but I guess I don't count cause I don't want him dead....I just don't pity him right now.

Honestly, I was rooting for Mutagen Man to become a hero in some way (love the design, and I'm cool with underdog stories), and even as it stands I don't want to see him destroyed - but if it happens, it's out of the Turtles control.
The guy can hurl cars, tear down buildings, throw acid out of his hands and has zero understanding of right and wrong.
I see the comments saying "He was justified for attacking Raph and Mikey, and he didn't know any better."
He was going to KILL them -
REALLY, people gave Splinter crap for making them hand over their weapons - despite how easily they were able to adapt to that handicap.
But Timothy turns himself into Mutagen Man of his own free will, nearly shoves acid in Raphael's face, and vows to kill the turtles despite saving his life time and time again, when he was a human and even as an insane blob of guts. He even turned on Donnie, the closest thing he had to a friend who's been taking care of him and looking for a cure.
Mutagen Man get's a free pass because "It's not his fault, the mutagen made him do it." Or, "He never wanted to become this thing."
Well, to bad. He IS that thing now, and all he's doing is endangering lives. Had he become a "Cool" mutant and still ended up becoming a villain, would it still be the mutagen's fault?
Hell, if we're going to blame the mutagen, we should blame Donnie to for not trying hard enough to stop him from bathing in the unpredictable alien goo.
You can say, "But Timothy didn't know! He see's the Turtles, a dog man and fish thing- forget Donnie's warnings, it's 100% safe!"
Wouldn't that be like a kid chastising a long time smoker for telling them not to even try it. "Well, they seem fine! I'll be fine too!" Only to get throat cancer down the road. They made the choice, but they never wanted that to happen to them.
Their conclusion: it's products fault, not theirs
My conclusion: Buyer beware.
What about the complaints about April, "They saved her life multiple times! She can't be mean at them just because they played a hand in her father getting mutated! So ungrateful."
Meanwhile, "The turtles saved Timothy's life multiple times, but he can't help it that he wants to kill them for no reason other than to keep April to himself. It's the mutagen! They need to be nicer to him!"
Hell, he was going to kill Casey for no other reason than being with April.
Would he have done the same to her father if he was with her (mutated or not), other friends in school?
The turtles already have the foot and Kraang to worry about - not to mention any accidental results that come from the missing mutagen. The last thing they need on their plate is a walking emotional time bomb to endanger the city.

in defense of mutagen man, this introduction does make some sense. Hes obviously lost some sense of intelligence from the mutation, and now that hes a mutant like he always wanted to be, he lets it go to his head.
he told donatello that he liked april and that she was a friend, so when he was able to go find her, he did, because he wanted to. He takes the idea that now that hes a mutant, he can do whatever he wants. he even refers to the police man as a "stupid human". i took this as him thinking hes above them since hes a mutant now.
so while hes not sticking to his heroic ideals and it was odd of him to attack the turtles, i think he just lost the part of his mind that tells him whats right and wrong and instead just does what he wants and doesnt like anyone that prevents him from getting having it his way.
and about mikey and raph attacking him, they really didnt. all they knew was he was unstable and going after april, so when they found him, they just stopped him, with mikey even standing in front of him askign what happened. They didnt attack him until he attacked them and tried to melt raph. so its natural that after that happens, raph and mikey dont treat him as their old human friend.
the only issue i really had with this episode was april. when she sees the guys fighting tim at the end she says its not her problem and ignores it. kinda a selfish thing to do, even if shes mad at them, because her dad getting abducted in the first season wasnt their problem yet they helped her. im not saying this was bad to put in, im just saying its making me start to not like april

hmm didn't think of it like that...
but April lost her dad....and even though she's being irrational about it...it's kinda realistic...she just wants someone to blame and be angry at.....and the turtles were there admitting it was there fault...so yea..
she's being a little harsh...but wouldn't you if the person you cared about got mutated?
she'll come around, she just needs to blow off some major steam.
I kinda hope she forgives them soon cause if Mikey mutates April's cat when she's still kinda angry at them... then that's not gonna help one bit

This was a decent episode. It was an episode where it at least advanced the already established characters (Timothy, Don, and April) rather than using, and focusing on a new mutant/villain.
I'm glad the series showed some depth in handling the ethical dilemma of trying to assess Timothy's conscious in being an atypical mutant (it hints at the difficult situation with some mental illness. It's the age old question where if someone is within the "gray area" of mental illness and commits a crime, how much is that person truly responsible for the crime versus blaming it on the illness solely?), and therefore debating if they should be merciless or merciful in their fighting. As for the show letting go of Timothy, we can't be that rash, I mean he could be a far more mentally challenged individual than say Leatherhead for example.
In addition, there was the dilemma in deciding whether Timothy should be preserved to be used as a guinea pig to help save April's father.
It's good that the show explored Donnie's identity in being a mutant through the whole Don/April/Casey love triangle dynamic. I like shipping if it expands the characters, which it did a bit here, rather than contracts them (as it was done with Donnie in Season 1). Yet it does make one wonder at the end of the episode (with Donnie's hope), I mean... seriously... how far can the series really push the whole Donnie/April relationship? Is there eventually going to even be a serious boyfriend-girlfriend relationship going on within a kids' show? :-? Something to think about...
Casey Jones was so far... charming here. He was smug and playfully cocky when it came to teasing, which was nice rather than making him into an obnoxious, arrogant "big talker" that can be too easy to fall into. But we didn't see a whole lot of him, so I can't really determine his full character though. At least thank goodness he wasn't as dumb as a brick like 2K3, but I hope he doesn't as the series develops. :ohwell:
One big plot hole is that April seemed a bit too comfortable in getting back to her ordinary life considering that the Kraang were actively hunting her down. She seemed a bit too unconcerned about the Kraang finding out about her location, considering that a teacher in her school (which was a Kraang robot) found out about her through her saliva DNA. Unless she transferred to a new high school or something, but still... the concern toward her own life doesn't seem as intense as you think it would be, since aliens from another dimension are still actively trying to find her. (She knows that the Kraang are not completely defeated because she saw their spaceship in the Season 2 premiere.)
You guys want all characters to be perfect. April can be mad, and Tim can be selfish, we can see them grow and change, no one is perfect, and if they were, they wouldn't be interesting.
I agree with you Luigiperps, as for Nick April, some of you gotta let her character breathe. I mean a lot of people forget she's almost an orphan with her aunt taking care of her. Are we forgetting all that happened to her during Season 1? Losing her mother, having her father kidnapped by the Kraang, fighting with Karai, being actively hunted by the Kraang, kidnapped by Shredder and Karai as a bargaining chip to trade with Kraang, abducted into the Technodrome by Kraang Prime, and after all that, now her father, which she just got back is now a mutant and probably feeling partially guilty for it.
Is her anger toward the Turtles the wisest thing? Of course not, but honestly how many teenagers are mature enough, if they would have endured the same hardships, to not give out some form of misguided, emotional retaliation? ...Very few. If this show was some twisted R rated version of the Turtles, 70% most likely Nick April would have been drinking, partying, or getting high to dull the psychological pain.
It's funny how some of the people who preferred more teenage-behaving characters for Nick TMNT, are getting upset over April behaving like a teenager (being upset with the Turtles).
the only issue i really had with this episode was april. when she sees the guys fighting tim at the end she says its not her problem and ignores it. kinda a selfish thing to do, even if shes mad at them, because her dad getting abducted in the first season wasnt their problem yet they helped her. im not saying this was bad to put in, im just saying its making me start to not like april
I actually liked they showed this part. It gives us a glimpse into April's mind. I don't think she's as much mad at the guys anymore, but has somehow convinced herself that she can still get the normal life back she had before meeting the turtles.
She thinks that by distancing herself from the guys everything will become normal again. There were some hints in season 1 that April valued her normal life, and after everything she's been through so far (With the Kraang abduction and her dad mutating likely being the final straw) she just wants to let it all go, which is certainly understandable in her situation.
It's likely April has to find out for herself that no matter how much she wants it, things just can't go back to the way they where. If she realizes this and finds herself in a situation she knows there's no other way out off, then she'll accept her "new" life and possibly realize that she shouldn't have turned her back on the best friends she could have wished for.
The turtles will always be there for her, whether April wants it or not.
===
As for Timothy/Mutagen Man. It's hard to tell how much he's in control, if any control at all. I'm not sure if he even remembers his former identity, if he even cares he's a mutant now, and he definitely has no idea of right or wrong at all.
Timothy has completely changed, at this point I don't think he can be blamed anymore for what he's doing. He's no human anymore, has no human way of thinking, and in that way can't be judged from a human perspective of thoughts. The threat he poses is very real though and needs to be dealt with.
I did like how Mikey and Raph only stopped him at first and didn't attack. Before watching the episode I was worried they would lunge at him on first sight.
It's possible one day Donatello might be able to get through to him. Mutagen Man could still become a possible ally one day. It would be a bit soon if Mutagen Man's role would end with this episode.

I agree. I liked how they included that, since it adds a layer of depth to April, I was just trying to say that I thought it was a jerk move on her part and that I think she has a false perception of certain things. Again though it lets us see her idea of her life though.
I'm sure Timothy will be back, and I don't think him as a good guy is completely out of the question. In this episode he just tried to become Aprils friend, and since the turtles stopped him, he fought them. But at the end when he's starting to freeze, he actually calls out to Donnie, so I don't think he absolutely hates the turtles, I just think he has lost his sense of right and wrong .

I understand what you mean. And yeah, after everything they've been through together I agree it is a jerk move to turn her back on them like that. In particular regarding Donatello, as she had to know how he feels about her.
I understand where April is coming from, but to cut off a friendship like that is harsh. I do like how the writers are taking the time with this "break-up" and how they are developing this plotline so far, especially by adding Casey into the mix.

Probably around the time Casey meets the turtles. She'll realize that having a normal life will get boring for a while and start missing the guys and come to regret what she said to them. After all, people tend to say things they didn't really mean when angry and this certainly seems to be the case here.
And no, I don't say this because I want her "perfect" or some other s***** way to demonize why people currently don't like her, but to see get out of what is the most overused usage of teen angst all because they just had to make something happen to her dad in some way...again.
*a-hem* semi-rant aside, regarding Mutagen Man and his predicament. While the circumstances and motive for his mutation doesn't muster much sympathy for the character I can understand, I think it's plausibly to be simply because of Donnie. Since Don has pretty much become the most favored Turtle in this iteration and how he was the closest to a friend Timothy had as well as being the only Turtle who managed to tolerate him. Basically, you sympathize more with Don's goal to help more than just to see Timothy return to normal.

This season is great. I like how emotional they have made Don. He is a wreck and hopefully will snap out of it. This show does a good job balancing the tone for both a child and adult audience. And the Voltron riff was great. Clearly the writers are fellow children of the 80's.
I watched this yesterday. I liked it.
I even liked the Mutagen Man ( point to note. My spellchecker did not correct or underline the name )
Anyways, yes. Great episode, with lots going on, and of course the introduction of you know who.
The new toon they are watching is a nice touch, and watching it on VHS is cool. The slap on the face at the beginning was telling.

Well, she does hate them for what they did to her dad, so it's sort of understandable.

A good episode overall, in my opinion. The Voltron-like show at the beginning was a nice start-off, and the animation for it was surprisingly a nice touch for it.
Mutagen Man's motive for going after April was a little perplexing, but that probably stems from the fact that almost all train of thought from his is virtually gone ever since his mutation. I do hope he does come into play later in the series, though. I don't want him to be a ''lost'' character within the series that is never mentioned again, since it'll be disappointing on how a character how could have a lot of potential be written out so fast.
Casey Jones, I was a little disappointed with how little he actually appeared, but I must admit, he looked totally awesome. The bike scene also got me tensed it, I just enjoyed how fast-paced it became. The animation also was good for that scene, and really employed how good CG could be at times. I do hope to see more of him, however, since this was a nice start for him, honestly.
Overall, a good episode. :tsmile:

No, he wasn't, but Don feels responsible for him because Splinter put the responsibility on his shoulders when he agreed that Don could train him. Since then, Don has taken that responsibility to heart and feels that he could be the one to cure him and April's dad.

leatherhead tends to involve mikey, and when he comes back, we should be getting some mikey episodes. Raph will have slash and casey soon, so episodes involving them will probably base around him.
so yeah, right now, it is very donnie-heavy, but i think thatll change very soon

Agreed. Donnie DOES have his connection with Mutagen Man, and that's great, but April's entire tantrum she's throwing should be something that affects all the turtles, not just Don. It's weird when I read that if something is happening to April then "naturally" it'll be a Don heavy episode. Um, no...it's only natural because Nick forced it that way.

Agreed. Donnie DOES have his connection with Mutagen Man, and that's great, but April's entire tantrum she's throwing should be something that affects all the turtles, not just Don. ....sigh....don't start bumming me out T^T I'm trying my best to cope with this Donnie thing already....cause I know it won't go away...I've come to terms with that.
I just want ONE episode about April....and it not totally include Donnie...
ya know if April cared about the other turtles more and vice versa then maybe I would have been more bummed when she left.

I understand where April is coming from, but to cut off a friendship like that is harsh. I do like how the writers are taking the time with this "break-up" and how they are developing this plotline so far, especially by adding Casey into the mix.
The only unsettling thing is how April walked away from the turtles as they were saving her and Casey from Tim. I was hoping she'd at least watch quietly to make sure they were ok. Harsh.
I'm curious how This pans out. Will April come to her senses and realize she's being bitchy and irrational? Or will somebody snap her out of it? Just wondering.
I don't know why some people think Nick April's anger is completely irrational. In The Mutation Situation, she was clearly guilt-ridden and blamed herself for deceiving her father and letting him get mutated, but it wasn't for dumb Mikey opening his mouth, she wouldn't have realized that the Turtles were to blame as well.
I think the willing deception the Turtles had in not telling April, was probably the most hurtful. Remember how Raph, Leo, and Don were waving their hands and trying to silence Mikey to not tell April about their responsibility in it? Not only does she have to deal with the fact that her own father is mutated after he suffered from a form of PTSD being with the Kraang, but that these Turtles weren't willing to be honest in their involvement with Kirby's mutation in the first place.
I don't blame April for feeling the way she does. I mean would you want to be friends with 4 individuals that wouldn't fess up to their involvement for a tragic accident, and just let you feel solely guilty?
hmm didn't think of it like that...
but April lost her dad....and even though she's being irrational about it...it's kinda realistic...she just wants someone to blame and be angry at.....and the turtles were there admitting it was there fault...so yea..
she's being a little harsh...but wouldn't you if the person you cared about got mutated?
she'll come around, she just needs to blow off some major steam.
I kinda hope she forgives them soon cause if Mikey mutates April's cat when she's still kinda angry at them... then that's not gonna help one bit
Psh, seems like the Turtles should be apologizing to April for not fessing up to their involvement. And the Turtles didn't actually apologize, the only thing they did were look "guilty" and Don promising to change Kirby back. Some of you guys are forgetting that April's father Kirby, is the symbol of her "normal life" and seeing her father become mutated is a harsh, irreversible blow to her shattered life (on top of not having a mother or siblings for emotional support; at least those Turtles got themselves and Splinter, who does April have but an aunt left?) and yet those Turtles didn't want to accept some responsibility for that, even if it was an "accident".
What if the roles were reversed? And somehow April tried to hide her partial involvement in mutating Splinter into a semi-sentient being? Psh, most of you guys would be demonizing April. I doubt most of you would say, "The Turtles need to get over it already and need to be friends with April again! Don't they realize that her father helped the Turtles track down the invisible Kraang ship and that she helped in infiltrating the Purple Dragons lair one time? Plus they need her telepathic powers that could help in defeating the Kraang."
...Well this show certainly has the teenage immaturity with these Turtles I must say.
^
I don't think April saw the others were waving behind her back signalling Mikey not to tell her, only the audience saw that. April was only focused on Mikey when he was telling her this. And he was way to insensitive about it. (Don't worry, we'll fix it) But it can be appreciated at least he was being honest.
You make a good point about April's dad being her last link to a normal life, and her anger and reaction is understandable.
But April and the turtles also have been through a lot together, they have saved April a lot of times, April has helped the turtles a lot of times as well and they have become close friends.
The turtles would always be there for her, risking their life to save/help April or her dad without question or hesitation. And they will still be there for her now, even if April doesn't want it anymore.
She's now convinced she can get her old life back, but she should also know that even though the turtles had a hand in her dad's mutation, they would never do this on purpose. She doesn't know the fight the turtles were in or what happened on the ship.
I agree about their attempt to "silence" Mikey. Apparently they were willing to let April blame herself for what happened. That definitely is the teenage part shining through.

1) it's kinda hard for the turtles to apologize when she's turning off her t-phone and avoiding them...
2)they kinda did fess up...well Mikey did anyway XD he told her the truth.(quite frankly what good came from telling April the truth anyway?? XD they were going to help her dad either way)....but I guess her blaming herself wasn't good.
3) what do you mean they didn't accept responsibility? the boys are trying to do everything to get those mutagen canisters back and find a cure. They obviously felt responsible (even if they weren't all going to tell April it was their fault)
also.....WHY is April even trying this...?? they are the only ones that can help cure her dad....if she wants nothing to do with them how is THAT helping her dad!? XD

1) Maybe but this topic is about her initial anger at that moment in The Mutation Situation.
2) The Turtles didn't fess up, they were caught by Mikey blurting it out. There's a difference between admitting to doing something wrong and being caught in a lie or an assumed truth. "What good came from telling April the truth anyways?" Wow...:lol: wouldn't you expect some honesty from friends if they partially contributed to your father's accident even if it could be resolved with a simple medical treatment? From a storytelling standpoint I could understand your perspective, but from a relationship standpoint... I can't agree with that.
3) Felt responsible? Or more like concerned about getting caught? (The Turtles appeared to be more resistant to tell April the truth [trying to silence Mikey] and were more comfortable in letting April have all the blame excluding Mikey, rather than trying to alleviate her guilt somewhat as April was feeling intense remorse.) It seemed like the Turtles understood the magnitude of their actions after the fact Mikey blurted out what happened on the Kraang ship, AND April shouted at them.
Why is April doing "trying" this? While it's true that the Turtles are the only chance she has in retro-mutating her father, you have to think if she would want to deal with the Turtles after being comfortable enough to lie to her. I mean when somebody lies to you about such an important issue, the mind can really wander off in wondering what other lies the Turtles have done or will do in the future. How is "nothing to do with Turtles" helping her dad? Well she realized that doing something with the Turtles got her father in a mess ("The Mutation Situation"), so why would she want to get into a deeper hole? I mean all she has to do is remember Timothy and see what less of a sentient being he is. On top of that, Donnie's promise of retro-mutagen hasn't come through yet either. As I said before, I wouldn't blame April for not wanting to deal with the Turtles.

We actually don't know if Leo, Don and Raph were going to accept responsibility or not, Mikey just went ahead and told April in the most blatant way possible. For all we know the boys would have liked to take April back to the lair, let her calm down from everything she had just experienced and then gently explain to her about the accident and what they were planning on doing to fix it. Honestly, it's not like they had a pep talk before the scene where they all agreed that they were never ever going to tell April about their involvement, and anyone with an ounce of common sense (which excludes Mikey apparently in this show) would wait to tell April the full story after she's had a moment to digest everything that just happened. So really, pinning the blame on the turtles for acting like jerks and avoiding responsibility is a little unfair since we have no idea if they were actually going to or not.
Also, while April didn't play a hand in mutating Splinter, she DID send him into danger that could have very well cost him his life. Do I see anyone blaming April for that? Did the turtles even seem to hold it against her? I'm not saying April isn't justified in her initial anger, but drawing it out the way she has and flat out refusing to even help the turtles when she saw them fighting Mutagen Man was downright low. She knows they can be KILLED by that thing and she would rather follow her anger than to help out the ones who not only saved her own life, but risked everything to save her father's life (including their own lives), and gave her a place of shelter and protection when she was in danger. Being upset and hurt by feelings of betrayal is one thing, but it's a different level entirely to turn a blind eye in the face of life-risking danger. It's as though she's forgotten that the turtles are not the enemy here, does she remember nothing about the Foot or Kraang? Would she really rather choose to waste her energy blaming the ONLY people who can actually help and care about her instead of the true culprits of her pain? Honestly, this is just not an April I can get behind and support.

If that were the case, with the emotional bomb being dropped then and there (with Mikey blurting it out), the three Turtles should have admitted and apologized right afterward rather than looking guilty, but in April's eyes its going to be assumed as deception. As I mentioned before, it seemed the Turtles understood the magnitude of their actions after the fact April had to shout at them.

You're thinking about it too logically Bossa Nova, and from an audience perspective. :P But again... as I said before:
Is her anger toward the Turtles the wisest thing? Of course not, but honestly how many teenagers are mature enough, if they would have endured the same hardships, to not give out some form of misguided, emotional retaliation? ...Very few. If this show was some twisted R rated version of the Turtles, 70% most likely Nick April would have been drinking, partying, or getting high to dull the psychological pain.
All I'm emphasizing is the viewpoint from April's perspective, and for people to say her behavior is completely irrational or she's too mean is too easy from our audience perspective, denying the teenage aspect of the character, and belittling her personal loss considering all the craziness she endured. It's a whole other experience when its personal and one's sense family has been shattered three times (the loss of her mother, her father being kidnapped in Season 1, and her father being irreversibly mutated [at least so far] in Season 2). I mean how many times have we heard in high school about teens complaining, even with the most smallest things, "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M GOING THROUGH! :x" :P
These Nick Turtles can't empathize and understand the magnitude of losing a family member(s) when they still have each other and Splinter, and April only has her aunt left.

I think the poor girl is scared and confused and doesn't really know what to do. At this time being mutated is impossible to reverse and as such considered being a fate worse then death.
While I think she should have stuck around and watched the fight against mutagen man, even if it's just to learn the guys (Donatello in particular) are really sorry about what happened to April's father and Donnie is trying to develop a cure even if the end result is just to make it so someone at least tried to find a way to reverse mutations.
She's still just too upset to think straight because every time she see them she will see the people who made here father into the freak he is now. And while she is aware there were other people involved in her fathers mutation. She had expressed her doubts about involving her father in helping them locate the kraang ship. The Turtles had lead her to believe that nothing would go wrong and her father would be safe. So to her it was like they knew her father was suffering from PTSD because of what he's been through they involve her father in this Kraang plot anyway, they told her everything would be fine and then it wasn't.
The way I see it, it will take either one of the Turtles getting hurt trying to protect her in order for her to really come around and see that avoiding them is not helping anyone.
That and Casey (and Irma) learning of them also keeps them in her life as well so like it or not she is stuck with them.

:tsmile:
I'm pretty sure that they said that mutagen man was going to play a big part in this season.

Though I've voiced my issues with April, I'm personally in no hurry for her to reconcile with them. This is a pretty big issue for both of them that'll take time to sort out and it'd be unrealistic (even for TMNT standards) for it to be resolved within 1 or 2 episodes. They can take all their d*** time for all I care, I'm patient. Like I said before, she acted and said things out of anger and after a while of reflecting and gives up her attempt to be normal, she'll come around like Raph said.

I also have no issue with April not forgiving the Turtles. Her father was taken from her again and it was the Turtles' fault. While I do commend Mikey for being honest with her, he didn't actually apologize for it and just said that they'd fix as though it was easy to do. So, I'd be mad at them, too, and I certainly wouldn't want to forgive them like that. Forgiveness is overrated anyway, and no one is obligated to forgive anybody unless they can trust that said person won't make the same mistake again.

Pulverizer Returns left me with the impression that something emotionally broke or slipped in Donatello.
This episode left me feeling that whatever was broken before...became even more so.
Did anyone else get this impression?
It's possible this is how Donnie's pacifistic nature will be established and discovered.
In Metalhead it felt as though Donnie was struggling with and hasn't accepted this aspect of himself as of yet. And given brothers his brothers it's possible he is worried they would consider him a coward if it became known.
But it's clear in this episode that Donnie didn't want to resort to what he did to the Pulverizer and the end result did appear to hurt him on a deeply emotional level.

I also find it interesting that so many are rushing to the defense of the Turtles' emotional shortcomings/mistakes, but when it comes to their other allies (Splinter, April, and Timothy) if they are anything less than perfect they start harping on them.
With April: "She's totally irrational and needs to forgive the Turtles." ...Even though her life has been shattered for the third time, and this third time is caused by the Turtles' partial responsibility when they wanted Kirby's help in his PTSD condition.
With Splinter: "He's way too strict on the Turtles with discipline." ...Even though the Shredder and every other villain is trying to kill them, and Splinter had lost his family (wife and Miwa/Karai) to Shredder before.
With Timothy/Mutagen Man: "He's a dumb, overenthusiastic fanboy." "He's a homicidal blob." ...Even though the Turtles sent this untrained boy to spy on Shredder, and Donnie had to whine about April day and night to Mutagen Man. Mutagen Man wouldn't have been terrorizing the city and looking for April if Donnie wasn't talking about it.
Yes, I know the incidents with Kirby, Timothy's transformation, and Mutagen Man terrorizing the city were unexpected/accidental, but when are these Turtles going to accept some responsibility for the unforeseen recklessness they cause? At least Donnie is showing that with Timothy/Mutagen Man... as for the other three Turtles, they got a looong way to go.
I guess that's part of the teenage aspect of the Nick TMNT series perhaps. They won't realize how devastating their decisions/actions can be unless somehow these repercussions start to directly affect them. One example in real life would be drunk teenage drivers, sure they don't mean to cause destruction, injury, or death and would feel remorse but they can't truly understand the weight of the loss until they themselves are injured or someone they care about is injured/killed by the same action.

April can't just forgive the turtles quickly. In my view it makes her more of a superficial character if that were to happen - someone who isn't willing to stand her ground after taking a position. Others might see her as stubborn but she clearly blames the turtles for what happened to her father so if she was to forgive and forget so easily and with minimal effort on the boys' part then it would be an example of a female character being treated incorrectly in fiction i.e. it would perpetuate the stereotype that women are emotionally unstable and change their minds as often as the weather. I don't want that message being sent out to the female kids who watch the show. It would also undermine April's loyalty to her dad.
Sorry if this point has already been raised - I haven't read the thread.

They've done it with a lot of the other characters, so I don't see why Casey would be treated any differently. Plus, the acne episode takes place mostly in the lair, so the chances of Casey appearing are slim to none. He'll most likely appear again in "Target: April O' Neil".

I'm pretty sure all children want is to see the turtles kick butt and be funny. The details have never been that important in children's shows. The whole photo thing just sounded a bit too much like an issue that would raise more questions like, are all the poeple in the city going to go into hiding until the police catch this mutagen man. That would make too much sense for a children's show and is therefore too complicated. Turtles plus cool stuff is all that there needs to be and that's what this last epsiode had. Unlike the other photos on Donnie's photo wall, that photo has a likelyhood of reappearing. There was far to much focus on it not to.

Well, in "Follow the Leader", Karai stated to Leo she still has bad blood against him based on the events of "Enemy of My Enemy" in Season 1. I think it's safe to say the writers are thinking hard about this stuff and it's also clear the kids are buying into it.

Of course children are following that. All that is is the bad guys are ticked off at the good guys because of something. What exactly that something is isn't difficult to remember for children, that's if they even follow the show week to week. All I'm sayying is that so long as it stays the good guys vs the bad guys then the details don't matter. But going down roads the show doesn't do like getting lots of people involved like the whole police force just wouldn't keep things in the world that has been created and therefore make things too complicated. Sure there were cops in this episode but what happened with them was all that we'll see of them. The fact that older viewers can read so much into the episodes is great, it really makes the turtles all that more enjoyable.

Mostly enjoyed the episode with my daughter. Kind of disturbing -- in a good, out of the box way -- that Donatello is basically responsible for this teenage human turned horrific monster. Disturbing moreso that even as "dumb" as he was pre-mutation, he barely even can string together a coherent thought now.

Anyway just wanna point it out. It's not a love triangle this season, it's love rectangle. FOUR PEOPLE. Mutagen Man wants April too!
Suddenly everyone wants a piece of that hot April. "Oh no, who should I choose? Donnie? Casey? Mutagen Man? This is harder than anything Bella ever faced. Oh boys do stop fighting over me."

Yes, but Tim doesn't want her as a love interest and more as a friend. The kid probably never had any friends in his life and his way of thinking is that April would make a good friend for him.

Oh, I'm sorry. That was kinda rude of me.
I just found it odd you asked such as straight forward but hopeful question when you said previously you wanted Timothy/MM dead.

The Pulverizer has more then likely seen April while she had been staying at the lair. And in his current state he has had a front row seat to seeing Donnie and April conversing. Watched Donnie flirt with April. And probably listened to Donnie talking about how wonderful a person April is when she's out of the lair or asleep. And of course later hearing from Donnie that April doesn't want to see him again after what happened to her father.
In truth it almost feels like Donnie felt like he was getting the same thing Raph gets out of Spike. In the fact he has someone who he talk to that wouldn't criticize, judge, or tease him about his feelings towards April.
But to the Pulverizer it feels like Donnie gets the best in everything. He get's an awesome mutation, a cute girl who is a the source of his affections, and what not. While he himself has essentially become a mutant jello mold who is forced to stay alone in the lab for hours on end. So maybe when he hears Donnie complaining about how April doesn't want to see him any more, in his mind he thinks...The Turtles hurt this girl because she trusted them, and I also got hurt because I trusted them. So if she doesn't want Donnie as a friend anymore, maybe she'll be my friend!

Yes, that makes sense, and also because he probably never had any friends as a human because of his obsession with wanting to be a hero.

That assumes that children read or even care about the title of a show.
No need to over think it.
Children aren't as dumb as you are making them out to be. I have a little brother (5) who has watched every episode and always brings up questions ("Why was Aprils school empty?") and he did bring up the photo and speculated that Shredder or some other villain will find it and use it to find the turtles. (It doesn't make much sense, but it shows he's thinking.)
So not every kid wants to see Mikey say or do something just for laughs.

Overall Rating
5-Epic Awesomeness
4-Good Story
3-Wouldn’t kick it out of bed for eating beans, but wouldn’t recommend it to a new comer.
2-If you never see it, you’re not missing anything.
1-I’ve seen bad fan-fictions that were better than this.
Another good episode! This season hasn't had any moments of "epic awesomeness" just yet, but it's still early in the season so that may change.
It was good to see April finally after being away from the Turtles for a couple of episodes. What I found most interesting with her story at this time is that she wants to try to return her life to one of normalcy, considering that she is the key to an alien invasion. I also found her irritation at seeing the Turtles so close to her house was rather understandable since she knows that she can't avoid them entirely.
Casey's appearance in this episode was interesting. He does come across as a self-important dooshbag at first with comments such as "...they are intimidated by my supreme awesomeness." And saying that he wanted to be either a professional hockey player or a bounty hunter as a career choice. Hopefully he will improve as his character continues to develop in the series.
I've seen lots of talk about how Donnie was becoming a stalker where April was concerned. Heck, Mikey even points that out when he sarcastically says "Like that's not creeptastic!"
I still found Donnie's actions somewhat understandable since he would at least be interested in seeing how April is doing. And one of the most endearing qualities about his character is how much he cares about her. Still there are definite signs that April's absence is causing a lapse in judgment on Donnie's part. One such example is the moment where he is considering the possibility of appearing to April even though she had specifically stated that she did not want to see any of them ever again.
It's also seems that Donnie is also suffering from depression brought on by April leaving them and that's taking it's toll on the brainy turtle as well. Such as the moments he is shown ranting to Timothy. When Donnie admits to his brothers that he had been talking to Timothy, Raph asks "You pour out your thoughts and feelings to a bunch of guts in a jar?!" This in itself is ironic seeing as Raph complains about his brothers to his pet turtle, Spike.
However it's Donnie's response of "He's a good listener." that raised some red flags in my mind. In mutation situation Donnie's heart was clearly broken, and there was no follow up on how things are with him aside from Raph in n "Follow the Leader" when he tells him not to get so upset over April because she'll come back eventually
This makes me wonder what sort of support Donnie is getting in this point in time, and from the sound of things he's not getting any brotherly support what so ever. This is probably chocked up living life an only child, but I find it appalling that the other Turtles aren't even noticing or acknowledging how much Donnie is suffering at this time. If I had a sibling in a similar situation, I would have checked in on them from time to time to see how they were doing. It's plausible that the others don't know how help to Donnie in this current situation so they chose to ignore it and hope it resolves itself on its own.
Leo in particular would know from experience what a broken heart feels like, or at least something close to it. Since he lost any trust Karai may have for him in "Enemy of My Enemy". But Donnie at least had tried to comfort him following that. So the possibility that he is not receiving the same respect may have it's own backlash later on.
And to add to it, Donnie had to end up hurting and betraying someone who had trusted him. As Leo pointed out, whoever Timothy had been wasn't there anymore. Which is true, everything that the Pulverizer had been had ceased to be in his feral minded state. But that didn't make it an easy task for Donnie to undertake and I am afraid there could be a possibility that he may have to resort to having to destroy the Pulverizer in the end.
Some of my readers may remember that in my review of "Metalhead" (or you've heard the 3rd episode of "Heroes in a Half Cast") that I pointed out that it felt as though Donnie is struggling with the side of himself that may be pacifistic. In "Pulverizer Returns" I was left with an impression that something had shifted or slipped in Donnie, and in this ep it felt like something had definitely cracked. The way Leo and Raph react when Donnie takes no pleasure in his defeating Mutagen Man suggests they also are noticing that this has hurt their brother in some way, but they aren't sure as to why. It's possible that this experience with Mutagen Man may help bring Donnie's pacifism to the forefront and enable him to accept that as part of himself.
Average episode, I don't like the April doesn't want to be around the turtles arc, it's being played out too slow, mutagen man coming out was alright but I don't know nothing rally grabbed me a lot. Overall I'm not liking the show a lot, this season isn't as good as the first and the first wasn't that great either.

That is something that bothered me too. I wondered why April didn't choose a decent time and go to a library if she didn't want Casey coming to her home. Also, I thought it would show a scene where Kirby Bat was glaring at Casey from a roof and snarling because he didn't want some boy talking to his daughter.

I think that will be for and episode where Donnie and April are hanging together with Casey. After all if you look carefully at Kirby Bat while Mikey is explaining that everything is their fault you can see Kirby Bat processing and understanding what is being said.
April may have forgiven the Turtles, but Kirby Bat hasn't and even if Donnie does manage to restore Kirby to a human...he won't be happy about April's friendship with the Turtles.

I can see that happening. I think it would still show some depth to Kirby Bat's character since he still has his fatherly love for April. And I did notice that Kirby Bat seemed to understand everything and he also seemed to react to April's emotions too.
I also wonder if Kirby is restored to human form, will he be a villain or at least try to still harm the turtles in some way. Like you said, he will probably not be happy with April still being friends with the turtles.

I don't think Kirby will be a straight up villain if he gets restored. He may hold some anger for a bit, but I'm sure April would convince him that it was an accident and leave it at that. We'll just have to see how things play out.

Wow, never realized that he was processing everything that was said! So I guess it's possible for him to be more intelligent than the writers are leading us to believe? Sure his mind might be a bit warped right now, but the intelligence bit would make for an interesting twist. And we've seen some awesome plot twists in this show so far.

You do have a point. I just know Kirby should be furious, especially after he was already worried about the Kraang. Then boom, a feral like mutation that he probably blames the turtles and the Kraang for.

I hope that they do show his intelligence more even though he seems to have more animal instincts.

And I thought Mikey and Pulverizer were the most obnoxious and unlikable characters in the show. Nope - here comes Casey Jones!! Damn.
Well, Mikey sometimes has his good moments, when I don't feel like I want to punch him in the mouth. Pulverizer gladly was removed, but it seems now I need to tolerate this new mr. Douche McArogance. Oh, well...
Otherwise episode was somewhat fillerish. Mutagen Man was ugly, but I liked his voice gimmick.
I wonder how many mutagen canisters he had drunk?
