If Irma is gonna appear in the new series, how will she get involved with the turtles?

Maybe Irma will secretly team up with them and she won't tell April about it. Of course they will explain to her what happened to April's dad and how the guys feel and stuff, right?

And if April learns that Irma stole her shell phone later on, Irma will soon have to confess and make April realize how she treated the turtles badly and how Donnie felt about her.

Well, in the episode "The Catwoman of Channel Six", she did finally meet the turtles after continually asking April about them. After that she did hang out with them from time to time.

From some reason, I feel as though her role's gonna be somewhat similar to that of the 80's series.

Well, like it says in the Target: April O'Neil sumary, Irma mught be the friend that April puts in jeopardy. Both of them might end up to running away from Karai and her army of ninja-bots. And then:
a) April manages to keep Irma in safe keeping but get captured by Karai. During the conmotion Irma might get the T-Phone and calls for help.
b) They both get capturated by Karai and the turtles save them
c) The turtles comes in time to stop Karai for kidnaping them.
One it's clearly, if this Irma it's like the 80s, she sure will freak out; even more tham April.

I'm pretty sure that one of her quotes would be: "You've been the target of an elite of ninja and invader aliens, and being protected by mutant turtles; and you didn't tell me? WHY YOU NEVER TALK ME ABOUT ALL OF THIS!!??"

Irma finds it and picks it up and tries to call someone with it.

She tries to find the source of the call and meets the turtles and Splinter. Frightened at first, but she later gets used to them as they explain to her how they met April and how she never spoke to them again after what happened.

Learning of this, she promises to keep their secret and to not to tell April of her involvement with the turtles and that she'll keep the shell phone to herself from April, so that way they'll contact Irma privately.

My guess April may have told Irma about the Turtles...except she leaves out aspect such as their Ninja's and they are Turtles.

So as far as Irma knows the Hamato brothers are a group of reclusive home schooled quadruplets who live with their equally reclusive widower father. And somehow they have been there for April after her father atwas abducted by a bunch of goons.

In the 1987 series Irma was a clutzy hopeless romantic. Maybe Irma goes on and on to April about her being lucky she has two guys that have a crush on her. April of course says that she's not interested in either of them saying good qualities and bad qualities of each boy. Irma then maybe tells her who she thinks April should go for, possibly she thinks Donnie would be better then Casey simply because Casey is a bit too edgy for someone like April. And also Donnie sounds like he's different then the other guys at school. And April answers with "You have no idea."

Then Karai shows up and attacks April during the attack April drops her T-phone and Irma picks it up

Hey, April's gotta have a friend to pal around with.

Given all this junk going on with the Krang and combine with the fact that Casey and Donnie are gonna be spending most of their time fighting over her, and combined with the fact that none of the other Turtles really seem to spend any time with her, I'd say she could use someone else to confide in.

And plus it means more female characters in the show!
(So maybe then people will stop accusing Ciro and the other writers of the show for being sexist.)

Its possible that Irma could be a one (or possibly two)-shot that just acts to assist everyone, but I'd like her to be a recurring/semi-regular character like she was in the OT. Whether she goes to the same school as April, if she is affiliated with a business such as Channel 6, or is an aspiring Ninja trainer will leave us guessing. I like the character design, perhaps more so than April's since it provides a good sense of contemporary style and it opens up the unpredictability of her character. Save the "I need a date" until at least a few episodes in.

Remember than in the OT, Irma was mostly just comedic filler for Channel 6 scenes or staying at her apartment with a few important episodes. I'd like to see less of that and more involvement with the main action, in which Nick has done a good job of saving such side scenes.

I stoked to see Irma showing up. I have yet to find an April (aside from the original movie) that I can connect with. For me, Irma was the only female connection to the cartoon as a kid. I could see her as an awesome assist for some of the tween female viewers.

Personally, I would LOVE to see her act as the voice of reason with the group - you know, that "grown" teenager that really puts people in their place? I think that would be stellar.

As for her character in this show, let's hope Nick Irma isn't solely used to create an additional shipping element (and be fan-fic fodder as Stryker has alluded to), but my hopes aren't that high considering how Nick hasn't been on par with their characters' development.

Yes, OT Irma was noted for being ravenous for a date, and it was definitely used for comedy, but the show subtly did show her growth as she became more invovled with the Turtles. In the second season, her curious nature finally makes her aware of the Turtles especially in the episode "The Catwoman from Channel 6" and the show highlights her and April's friendship more (especially in "The Case of the Killer Pizzas" and "New York's Shiniest"). In the third season, she becomes a more involved ally to the Turtles with April being kidnapped/missing more, and she advances from her secretarial job by being at times a camerawoman ("Four MusketTurtles") and accompanying April in her stories. In seasons 4-5, we see Irma finally getting a date with Howie ("Name That Toon", "Menace Maestro, Please") and being more sarcastic with Vernon ("Were-Rats From Channel 6") as she slowly loses some of her clumsy behavior from season 3 ("The Turtle Terminator" and "Attack of the 50-Foot Irma"). We even start to see her associate herself with the Turtles outside of April's peril and news stories ("Donatello's Degree"). By seasons 6-7, she seems to take more initiation in being a hero when she can ("Super Irma", "Night of the Rogues", "Shredder Triumphant!"), by this time her "man hungry" personality isn't even shown as much when they do show her. By season 8, she was written out of the series with the introduction to the Red Sky seasons. :ohwell:

...So OT Irma wasn't necessarily complete comedy-fodder as some might think, of course whether this character development was intentional or not is up to debate, but nevertheless I think she was one of the characters in the OT who displayed the most dramatic growth. ...As much as could be possible in a show with loose continuity and meant for syndicated TV.

Think about it. Rob Paulsen has stated that April will feel torn between two boyfriends. So if and when the triangle becomes an issue, there is two people she can go to, Leo and Irma.

Leonardo being Donatello's older brother would know Donnie wouldn't take kindly to having his leader or any of his brothers dictating who he should and should not have a relationship with. So I can see him telling April that any issues about her relationship with Donnie, she will have to talk to Donnie personally. Irma on the other hand is a third party who isn't involved with either boy, so I can see her giving good points and bad points of each. But I also see her saying that either way one of them would get hurt so that can't be avoided, but in the end it will be April's choice that matters. And she will know in her heart which one she must choose.

First off, I hope she doesn't get training by Splinter. Too many ninja running around seems forced. If anything, I hope she stays more of a realistic helper, if that makes any sense.

Yeah, they have similar personalities, though Abby is more the "young punk kid," maybe misunderstood, while Penelope is more the "funny, sweet woman." They do have the same job and do pretty much the same thing and have their own wild styles indoors.

Well what I'm saying is that April commonly is the "Normal Girl" of the group-that's what makes her so interesting to their whole dynamic and what she's able to offer to them that they can't do themselves. In 87 series Irma sort of sees Donnie bonds with Donatello but nothing beyond friendship is really established. So maybe when the Turtles and Irma do meet, Irma bonds with Donnie due to their intellect levels. And that would cause April to become somewhat jealous. She will not be adversarial like Donnie and Casey are, but rather it would give her an opportunity for her to stand back and begin to consider what her feelings for each of her guy friends actually are.

I can't wait until she meets them. I kinda felt a little bad for Irma when April had to leave her to go and meet up with the guys in the last episode. As far as she knows now, her best friend is hanging out with other people so Irma probably feels like she got dumped in a way...

She's become one of my favorite characters so I sure hope we see her soon! Well I think that there are only 8 episodes left in this season so (unless they're gonna spam this plotline over to S3 god I hope not) we should be coming to the point where she discovers the truth.

I agree with that! The fact to being a normal girl might make her more determined to do more than she can do, showing some frustration to not helping enough to her friends. I can see Irma exceed the perspective of anybody who belittle her


An interesting theory I heard on Tumblr was that she may be into supernatural things or Witch Craft given her appearance.

Not saying that I want her to be a Witch (Lord no..) but it'd be cool to see her try to practice that stuff. She could be like Luna Lovegood or Hermione Granger from Harry Potter! XD

I love this idea!! It would be awesome!! But the thing about the first time ever that Irma met the turtles gave me another idea.

I actually like the idea of Irma bonding with Mikey the most.

Irma is considered to be a "unique" woman. She was very fascinated with the rat "droppings" (or whatever it was) in Of Rats and Men. I think it's possible at least. Mikey isn't anti-social, people are just put off by his weird behavior. Mikey has a good enough time bonding with April as it is and bonding with a person even weirder than April should be no problem.

Starting to feel really bad for Irma, she always gets the shaft from April. Poor girl just wants to kick it & be treated with respect. I'd like to see her get more screen time & some involvement with the turtles. It's kinda hard for the Turtles to go up to the surface and I'm sure the most of the mutants and the Kraang have seen April and Casey enough to recognize their affliction with the Turtles... (Plus their trying to track down April anyways)

Well considering that she's on to April's "Secret Friends" I'd say that it's pretty likely.

With the few appearances she's made already I think it's clear the direction they want to go with her. She'll meet the turtles eventually and they'll likely have her hit it off with a particular turtle.

I could see Mikey becoming infatuated with her creating some good gags for the show. Alternatively I could see her becoming infatuated with Raph and having him be kinda weirded out. Again more laughs all around.

But I think a cooler move for her (though this is unlikely) is to become a villain. Not for a while. Give her time to interact with the TMNT. Get to know them and the secret lair. Then write a lose-lose situation where April has to choose the lesser of two evils and that choice ends up inflicting harm on Irma ultimately causing a falling out between them. There are a lot of characters I'm hoping don't get mutated (stay human Karai!) but with Irma I actually think it'd be cool. She's the SMART mutant villain the series needs! Black widow Irma...Rat Snake Irma....or Panther Irma. She'd be a cool rival to April who seems to be ever growing into a ninja herself.

Or maybe the show will do what the OT did, and say she watches April get kidnapped again, and all is left is April's phone, and Irma uses it and is connected to one of the Turtles, and they have no choice but to show who they are to save April.
