And now, a word from your friendly neighborhood Sensei...

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d172/Machias_Banshee/Dad.jpg

Hello boys and girls,
Today we're going to talk about something very important - something that impacts all young mutants as they approach adult hood.

When a boy mutant and a jar of mutagen meet, strange feelings can emerge from deep within. Confusion... curiosity... the insatiable desire to open the jar. In Michelangelo's case, maybe even eat the contents...

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d172/Machias_Banshee/BoymeetsGoo.jpg

But wait! You do not know who's jar that is... and you do not know where that mutagen has been. You cannot simply open every jar that you come across - not only is it dangerous, but its just so darn impolite.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d172/Machias_Banshee/JarBad.jpg

Playing with your jar of mutagen can sometimes be awkward - others might think there is something wrong with you. You may get picked on by your peers. And playing with your mutagen is especially dangerous as you go through the difficult stage of puberty.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d172/Machias_Banshee/Caught.jpg

Nothing is more dangerous than raging hormones combined with the volatile properties of alien-made, inter-dimensional monster-inducing mutagenic ooze. It only makes small problems so much worse... discolored skin, excess body hair, or acne that could colonize a small village.
But as long as you're careful - and use protection - you and your mutagen can go a long way into discovering a wonderful new part of your mutant life.

So think With your dipstick, not Like a dipstick!

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d172/Machias_Banshee/HairyPalms.jpg

If your mind wasn't already in the gutter at any point reading this... just read the title of the pictures.

Stay Tuned!!

I thought this would be the "weak" episode of November's, but boy was this a great one, and the concept of a double mutation was brilliantly executed, not simply by having a new one, but bringing back a classic in a new way! That said, I don't think we've seen the last of Rahzar if Fishface (possible Tokka mutation in the future?) is still around. I also thought that the mutagen around Baxter's neck was going to pop as he got electrocuted and turn into a fly; but it looks like that's for another time. A pretty good job on making Mikey gradually get more severe acne, though it would have been cool if came closer to the last minute as shown on Don's diagram and include changes such has his voice, height, and jumping abilities. But it was a great tension-building concept, making you wonder "where are my other brothers?" as the situation gets worse and worse inside the derelict TCRI building. In spite of this, there was still some good funny moments, such as Mikey's cappuccino pizza that made him sick that happened to have some mutagen on it. I like how the mousers aren't a one episode/arc wonder too with an encore appearance, and its good to see Karai.

PS: The Spongebob/TMNT for dinner quickie right before Act 2 was fairly funny and worth uploading.

Overall: 8.5/10

I didn't like Bradford nor Dogpound, but holy heck his mutation was awesome! All the mutants have looked kind of childish so far, and there's nothing wrong with that, but this, wow. I loved it.

I don't know why the writers love making gross stuff, I felt really sorry for Mikey. Funny how his shell just healed, those zits clearly came through it.. you'd think it would've been painful..

But it was a really good episode, loved the expressions they made when they were grossed out.

My thoughts can be explained with what I screamed during this episode-

HOLY S%#$!

That was perfection. Hilarious, weird/creepy, action packed, TONS of twists, amazing original ideas, just... whoa!

Rahzar's design- YOOOOO THAT IS TOO SICK

I'm a tad disappointed things turned out this way considering how much I've grown to love Dogpound, but I mean, good lord, if it's going down like this there could be no sicker design/character.

What I like about this episode~
-Character Development for Bradford
-Seeing Stockman again
- Mikey going solo
- Bradford becoming Rahzar

What I didn't like~
-Somehow the Turtles can't beat these two even though they batted them away in season 1 (although I like their a threat again so mix feelings)
-The item their retrieving is in Donnie's lab from Parasitica unless it got destroyed why didn't they use that one?
-Bradford Becoming Rahzor? (got rid of an original character for an old one) although I still like it.

Return to TCRI... Interesting to see that it's not completely blown to bits... Could be featured in later episodes...

Whoa... Dogpound!!! DID NOT see that coming!!! He's Rahzar now... And he's AWESOME!!! :tgrin:

Great to see both Dogpound and Fishface again... I wonder how Fishface will feel working around his new partner... Maybe change is in store for him as well...

I was thinking for a minute there we'd see Baxter mutated... He got out unmutated... For now.

This is the longest Baxter ever stayed human and normal for a series...

Dog to wolf makes more sense than fish to turtle. Now fish to a certain shark mutant on the other hand.... I wish they would introduce these Archie characters. Similar to Chris regaining his ninja speed, 'Armaggon' might not need a device to breathe and have his own mutated legs.

Boy, do the people working on this show know how to trick us. I went into this episode with EXTREMELY low expectations ("Mikey gets Shellacne"...does that really sound like a good episode to you?) but it turns out that this is now my favorite S2 episode so far. So many things happening in this episode...lets get right to it!

Seeing the turtles trying to make breakfast was pretty cool, along with Mikey in bed (his mask was even off, wish we could've saw his face without it). It's moments like these where the turtles are just hanging out that I enjoy seeing. Then...we have Mikey's zits. Those things were just gross, ugh, they made my skin crawl. They weren't bead at first, but when they started getting really big, and cracking his shell with them popping out of it....*shudder*....just gross. For a Mikey episode, I didn't really think it did much for him. He didn't really learn any sort of lesson, and he was just being stupid again. There should have been a better reason as to why he put retro mutagen on himself...like his brothers picking on him for being smaller and weaker or something like that. Him just doing it for no reason really made no sense at all. I guess him going out by himself since the guys weren't listening to him was good, and he did hold up pretty well on his own, and acted mor mature than usual. So yeah, didn't enjoy Mikey too much in this, I mean don't get me wrong, he was funny, it's just that he did something stupid and didn't learn anything from it. Now, let's get to what really saved this episode and made it a winner...the villains.

First of all, I wasn't expecting there to be any villains in this episode. I was very surprised to even see Karai, let alone Dogpound and Fishface. Seeing Karai in charge while Shredder is gone was cool. I'm glad that D&F were brought back, I wasn't getting kinda worried since we hadn't seen them in a while. And when they mentioned Baxter? That's when I knew this would be a good episode. It's funny that we were all talking about how they should turn Bradford back into a human in the other thread, and we see him facing that problem in this episode. You can see he hates his mutation, calling his new body clumsy and whatnot, and how he's not even like a ninja anymore. It's like the people that work on the show are reading every word we type...

The abandoned TCRI building was a good setting. It looked very cool with all the damage and Kraang droids lying around. Then when we got to Baxter's lair, it was really cool to see that he's been keeping himself busy by gathering mutagen. Baxter was awesome, glad we got to see more of the Mousers too. A lot of great callbacks to previous events in this episode, like the maze of doom. When Dogpound put the mutagen collar on Baxter, I thought for sure that he was going to mutate into the fly in this episode, but no...we got something else, which I'll talk about in a bit. I think the mutagen collar is a really cool way to keep Baxter scared of the Foot, it's a very threatening thing. Kinda surprised they put that in there, to be honest. Anyway, back to the villains. It turns out that Baxter knows how to de mutate people, which I'm sure is going to come in to play later in the season. Dogpound and Fishface longing to be human again was nice to see, I was actually really hoping that it would happen.

Now we have Mikey sneaking in to the lab on his own, since his brothers wouldn't listen to him. Again, I'm glad he did this...because it turns out he was right and shows that he isn't always goofing off. His brothers should take him more seriously sometimes...although I can understand why they don't. We have a nice fight scene with Mikey and Dogpound, and before you know it they're both above the giant mutagen supply. Dogpound is holding on for dear life, but Mikey can't support his weight, and he falls. Now, when Dogpound fell into that mutagen, I didn't know what to think. I was surprised but also kind of upset, thinking that we were going to lose this awesome character to another mindless beast. Then he came out of the mutagen...and his new design is freaking awesome! Holy crap, it's like a huge, scary werewolf! I was very surprised, but since he was only growling, I thought he lost all of his humanity and ability to talk...but when the show came back from commercial, thank god, he could still talk. I can't stress enough how epic the design is, it's actually really frightening. It makes the original Dogpound look really cute and cuddly, haha. I didn't see it coming that he's actually Razhar now! So now that mystery toy listing can be put to rest, as we know who we're getting. Can't wait for that figure! I liked his comment about how he feels like a ninja again. I wonder if he'll stay with the foot though, or if he'll go out on his own now that he's even more powerful...guess we'll have to wait and see. I could go on and on, but this post is getting really long...

So Mikey is cured at the end of course, and Karai now has Baxter back with foot along with an extremely dangerous double mutated Bradford. I gotta say, this episode was just great, I was not expecting ANYTHING like this to happen, and it really seemed like filler from what we knew about the episode. I'm glad we were pleasantly surprised. I still don't care for the main plot about the zits, but everything else made up for it. I'm giving this episode a 9/10.

With rahzar now I'm really wondering if tokka is coming. Fish face into tokka wouldn't make much sense, it would be a stretch. And slash being called tokka also seems unlikely, since he's already being given a new mutant name from spike, but obviously this show has no problem handling a double mutation. So who knows. I'm just looking forward to seeing how karai, shredder and fish face act towards rahzar.

Maybe Slash will take the place of Tokka like he kinda/sorta does in IDW. I mean two crazy evil mutated turtles is a bit much. Though I see little to no reason to see Slash team up with Bradford. Bradford would try to kill on the fact that he's another Turtles to begin with.

I feel like this episode very much expressed the sentiments of many fans who found Bradford's human form so much better than his Dogpound mutation. He was a ninja but as Dogpound he was just a clumsy lumbering pound of muscle. I actually had my hopes up he might turn back human again, but I guess I can certainly live with the Rahzar twist!

Xever would soon mutate into Armaggon.

That would be epic!

I'm almost in shock with this episode. I thought Baxter might wind up as a fly before it was all over (which I am still hoping for btw) but then Dogpound turns in to Rahzar!? Plus he looks ridiculously awesome. Secret of the Ooze has been getting some SERIOUS love this year. I mean I'm not gonna be surprised to see Vanilla Ice just pop out and start rapping at this rate. LOL. I also loved when Raph referred to Baxter and "Dexter" and then spoke about this "lab". I guess my one criticism is I kinda find it hard to believe that even MIKEY would be dumb enough to put mutagen on his skin after the Squirrelanoids and Mutagen Man and Kirby but apparently that never occurred to him??? It might have been more respectful to his character to at LEAST have him accidentally spill a little on himself. Did anyone else think that was a little TOO far to take his goofiness?

Damn. I wasn't expecting this filler episode to NOT be a filler episode. I nearly died when Dawgpound turned into Rahzar. That was just... cool! They turned a minor character into a major-ish character! :D

I liked the use of the mutagen collar, instead of something like a shock collar. To me that seemed like it was put in just to throw us off and not expect rahzar. We know fly Baxter Is coming, so were just waiting. When the collar was on, everyone was thinking oh ok fly Baxter. But nope, out of nowhere we get rahzar. This show is genius.

And also, since a lot of people on here don't think Mikey is getting enough attention, we finally have an episode based around him that moves along the plot. Multiple plots actually.

Absolutely fantastic episode. What looked to be just a comedic filler completely blindsided us with an awesome twist. Shredder's building quite an arsenal for himself in one way or another. Seriously, Rahzar, Fishface, Tiger Claw, possibly Baxter Fly and an assembly line of Mousers, an army of both human and robo-foot, Karai, AND himself. I'd love to see a huge all-out brawl between them and the Turtles plus all of THEIR allies at the end of the season. THAT'D be a season finale to remember.

Another question I have is how did Baxter not die from electrocution? Also has Fishface always had that tank on his back? I couldn't remember because it's been a while since we've seen him. I thought it looked kinda cool and would maybe even like to have a variant figure with it on his back. Also have Dogpound's eyes always looked like that too? I just thought that for some reason he looked more "menacing" in this episode than I have seen him look in the past. I still like the Rahzar design much better though. That's gonna make a KILLER toy you guys!

I thought it was really awesome how Dogpound absolutely demolished a Mouser by simply dropping his fist on it. I love how the villains in this version really give you the impression that they are a true threat to the Turtles.

Whoa. That episode was epic! I loved everything about it, and I yelled, "Holy sh*t!" when Mikey named the new DP Rahzar. Now he just needs a Tokka and they'll be complete. I loved the Turtles making breakfast and Xever lamenting about not getting laid. Also loved how DP missed his humanity, but now he's an even scarier mutant. The centrifuge did look like the one in "Parasitica" but maybe it did get destroyed. Not sure on that one. I also thought Baxter was going to be a fly, but not yet. Soon though. I also gasped when they got electrocuted like that. I thought for sure we'd lose Rahzar, but we didn't. Overall an epic episode.

Fave quotes:

Mikey: Ahhh! I'm a mutant!
Leo: He's just realizing this now?

Mikey: Ha, you got shellshocked, son!

Raph: Hey, look, Mikey brought his own pizza and it's his face. Okay, that was too far so come over here and zit down. Get it? Zit down? I crack myself up.
Splinter: Raphael! You should not make fun of someone else's appearance. How do you think the humans above would look at you and think?
Raph: You're right, Sensei. Sorry, Mikey.

Mikey: Is this the centrifudge?
Don: It's centrifuge, and no that's a beaker.

And that's all the quotes I can remember that stuck out for me. See you next week, guys.

Wow, just wow. This was the first episode of the second season that actually wowed me. For one, I'm glad that Bradford and Xever haven't been written off in the show, mostly because It's always good to hear Clancy Brown. I enjoyed seeing Stockman again. And I loved it when the show pulled a Joss Whedon on me by introducing Rahzar who reminds me alot of Sabrewolf from Killer Instinct. Now as always, time for my Meaningless Gripes with the episode:

· How was the beam that Mikey was holding onto capable of suspending both his and Dogpound's combined weight?

· Also, Mikey must be working out a lot since he's capable of maintaining his grip on a the beam while Dogpound has him by the leg.

· I can buy Rahzah (And Fishface to a lesser extent) being able to survive electrocution since hey, mutagen. But how is Stockman, an ordinary human being, still alive after being electrocuted like that?

But I digress, I give this episode a 9/10.

I wonder how Fishface will feel working around his new partner... Maybe change is in store for him as well...

I wonder as well.. I really like how Fishface looks, so I don't want him to mutate, but after seeing how awesome Dogpound got..

This is the longest Baxter ever stayed human and normal for a series...

Great episode. The title and description didn't have me expecting much but that was fantastic.

- Great to see the return of FishFace and DogPound. There was some great character stuff with Bradford.

- Also good to see the return of Baxter especially now that he's back with the Foot. Nice foreshadowing for Baxter too.

- Liked seeing TCRI again. I'm surprised Donnie hasn't already gone there looking for equipment. Perfect place to run into Baxter again too.

- RAHZAR!!!! Did not see that coming at all. Amazing design (probably my favorite so far) and glad he still has Clancy Brown's voice. I hope we get an official design of him from Nick. My only complaint is that we don't get DogPound anymore.

Aside from reinventing an old character, it would seem this episode didn't have any easter eggs, eh? Or did I miss/forget them?

Also- Did the lyrics in the theme change from 'incredible team' to 'crazy team', or am I incredibly crazy?

Also pt. 2- Is it just me or did Raph seem a darker shade of green in this one?

Speaking of which, Mikey must do a lot of exercise in his spare time considering that he was capable of maintaining his grip on the beam while Dogpound had him by the leg. Also, how was the beam that Mikey held onto able to holding both his and Bradford' s combined weight?

What started as a weak beginning turned into an interesting surprise. The idea of a double mutation sounds pretty intriging. When Mikey knocked Dogpound into the mutagen, I actually thought he was going to de-mutate back. I don't know why I thought that because that isn't how mutagen works.:tconfuse: The moment I saw his new mutation however, I thought he looked awesome. The moment Mikey started describing his new look, I instantly thought "Wait,....Razhar?!", JUST BEFORE he named him. I gotta say though, it's a little jarring having Razhar without Tokka though. But I'll get use to it.:)

I feel like the only one who disliked him becoming Rahzar. Don't get me wrong, I love the design, and am excited to see classic mutants re-imagined, but I rather liked Dogpound, and would have preferred Rahzar be a separate character altogether.

Plus, I just got my Dogpound figure 2 weeks ago, and since I prefer to display my toys in a 'diorama' style rather than on a shelf, this means my Dogpound has to go into storage (it would make no sense to have TWO of the same character in my display)

Yeah, I did like Dogpound the way he was before, but this will open up more possibilities for his character development, I should think.

This episode turned out better than I expected. The Rahzar thing surprised the shell out of me, the premise wasn't so bad, and the CG for the fight scenes looked amazing. The shading on their models really put me in awe for some reason, so I'm definitely going to take another look on this episode since I got it recorded.

Didn't don have a centrifuge already? You know, the one he got back on Parasitica? Does naming it a "molecular centrifuge" really make it something different?

Also, can we all picture don drawing those explodey zit diagrams while his brother’s life was in danger for a sec?

Also, why didn't mikey just call his brothers when he found dogpound and stockman? He does carry a freaking T-Phone in his po... somewhere.

*Slow clap*

The fact the crew can take an idea as un-BELIVABLY stupid as Mikey getting a case of mutagen powered zits- and still make a great episode despite it just... blows my mind! They could have easily turned this into a shameless and effortless "Joke after joke + predictable ending where Raph gets it" episode, but this goofy plot device mixed with the seasons plot moving forward, Karai taking charge, Fishface and Dogpound taking measures to become human again, the return of Dexter Stockmuffin, introducing the idea of a second mutation with the birth of the hellish looking Rahzar, great fights and while I wasn't a big fan of the pimple/gross out jokes, they kept it to a minimum while adding in a bunch of other humorous things-

"Is this this the centerfudge!?"
"No, that's a beaker."
"Is THIS the centerfudge!?
"That's a microscope."
"IS THIS THE CENTERFUDGE!?!?
"THAT'S THE SAME BEAKER!"

And don't forget... Raph's Eggbra VS. Dogpound's epic pecs!
Well played, Ciro and team... well plaaaayed....

Don't know if anyone mentioned this, but I liked how they showed frozen Timothy in Donnie's lab

I think its fantastic. Dogpound WAS getting stale, all his fights were just swinging his arms and being clumsy. I'm glad they realized this and updated him to the quicker Rahzar design.

Remember this show can't have the characters remain static for years like Bebop/Rocksteady, it needs to change things up.

And its fantastic to see Rahzar back, especially since people felt Dogpound was somewhat similar to Rahzar in the first place.

I like the way it coming Rahzar with the already Dogpound mutate. As well, i like Baxter's return in this show. I hope to see Tokkar too, although not make sence Fishface to be Tokkar, but possibly the show brings us a surprise. In this episode when i see the mutage collar, i though Baxter could be turned into a fly, but not, instead the show bring Razhar. This was GREAT.

This show showed us a lot of surprise. Before the episode "I, Monster", i though Doctor Falco was a filler villain until he turned into the Rat King. The same to Pulveriser (who is a supporting character) who turned into Mutageman, and now Braford/Dogpound turned now to the clasic Razhar and the new concept of the double mutation.

This episode shows us Baxter has his own plan to made a mutant army using Kraang's lab remains. Unfortunately was caught by Dogpoind, before can do the next step. (In IDW, he successfully made mutants).

I liked the episode, Mikey was actually worried about something and understood how bad it was.

I didn't care much for the second mutation of Dogpound, he is way to thin and boney. In fact in many places he looks like very thin bones are holding him together with no muscle or even room for vanes to pump blood to his limbs.

I thought this was just a filler episode. I was wrong! Love this episode.

The animation is so smooth and movie like. Karai moves so gracefully even when she's sitting and talking, it's fascinating. That Rahzar, oh my gosh. I never expected that!

It was thrilling too! All the time I was worried Mikey might popped his zits when he got bumped or hit by enemies. I felt sorry for him too, and his character have depth which I like.

And the grossness! Keep it coming!! Pukes in Squirrelanoid, zits in Shellacne, hell yeah! This is Nickelodeon, they know kids like these stuff. That's why they have that green ooze for Nick kids award and Figure-It-Out show.

Awesome! :tlove:

Wow! Loved the surprise Rahzar, but other than that I didn't care for this episode at all. I'm sure it's important for the development of future episodes with the whole "secondary mutation" thing, but I don't like the way they went about it. The shell acne thing was gross and I don't like Mikey-centric episodes at all. He's such an annoying character. This might be the only episode I wouldn't want to watch more than once. Just my opinion!

I really tried to like this episode, but I just can't. Something really felt off for me in this one, especially the interactions between the turtles. The issue with Mikey not being taken seriously was forced on the viewer again and not even in a subtle way.

I also didn't like how Donatello was portrayed here, his mannerisms seemed different in some way and he didn't really seem to take Mikey's condition that seriously. First joking about it, and what was up with that flow chart?

Positive points were Mikey's portrayal (I felt really sorry for him in this episode) and I especially loved his role in the second half of the episode, with Mikey going out on his own. I thought he was portrayed very well and in a likeable way. I was rooting for him during his confrontation with Dogpound/Rahzar. I really enjoyed seeing him in action.

Dogpound (I like the second mutation and I'm glad he can fight in his old style again), Baxter Stockman and Karai were all good points about this episode.

It seems Karai is ignoring Leo's words/warning during their last confrontation and is gearing up for another attack.

Except for some nice moments, this episode is one of my least favorites. Mikey, Dogpound and Karai at least gave this episode some positive notes for me personally.

I loved this episode! Expected filler, got awesomeness. Didn't expect Dogpound into Rahzar. Also, this was a visually stunning ep, Baxter's lair looked sweet with the red light coming through the windows and the giant mutagen tank. Every week brings a better episode! Although I did like this episode, I do agree with your point about Donnie's attitude, and I feel like that's a good example that explains why I personally have issues a majority of the time with the way the turtles interact with one another. I've seen their callousness toward each other as often brushed off as 'oh, they're brothers, that's just how they act', and trust me, I have siblings of my own, I KNOW how that sort of banter goes. But even so, sometimes it feels like the compassion the turtles might have for one another is sacrificed for the sake of a cheap joke. Overall I'm still not feeling a genuine brotherly vibe that tells me the turtles do all care for each other equally and that doesn't really sit well with me.

I think Donnie's attitude probably has a lot to do with the fact that he's dealing with so much heavy stuff at once. Yes, all the brothers are going through the same things, but it hits Donnie differently. Not just because he's a sensitive guy, but because these problems are the result of his actions, or have the worst effect on him personally. Timmy, who he was to look after and guide, ended up melting into a skinless blob. He tries to aid him as best he can post-mutation but what happens? He eventually snaps and breaks out, becoming even more of a tragic freak who's now emotionally fixated on someone- not just any someone, either. April. Worse yet, he's posing a threat to her. Aside from having to run from this monster, she's gotta be morbidly depressed over essentially losing her father, which too is the fault of Donnie (and his brothers). So in short, the love of his life not only hates him, but is being hunted down and mourns the loss of her father, all of which being his fault, basically.

I imagine he's spending his every free moment trying to resolve ALL of these issues, which involves a great deal of time, effort, energy, AND resources. When he finally starts making progress, who but Mikey comes along and starts to muck up everything, putting another person at risk at the hand Donnie's scientific prowess, and causing them to jump into harms way once more just to fix it. How could he not be super pissed? That aside, it's been made clear they want Donnie to have more of a leadership role, so perhaps the focus he needs to fill that position will come with the nothing to lose scenario he's been put in. As for Raph, that's his character. He makes wisecracks to hide his feelings and lighten the mood. Leo, I think he's just trying to save face, show strength. He's supposed to be the glue of the team, he sets an example. If he loses his composure, it implies that it's okay for all of them to.

Bada biiiing.

I agree with you in many ways powder. Donnie has become rather stressed as of late because of all the things that are put upon his shoulders. And this is an extremely heavy burden for one as young as he is to carry alone.

First we have Donnie's initial promise to Timothy that he would someday find away to return him to normal again. There isn't any pressure behind this promise, because he knows there are other things to worry about and finding a way to restore someone from a mutation isn't going to be discovered over night.

Then we have the fact that they inadvertently scattered canisters of mutagen all over the city, resulting in the father of the girl he loves to be turned into a mutant.

At this time becoming a mutant is considered a fate worse then death in some cases. There are some people who have found they have advantages in their mutation. But others have become prisoners in their new forms with no way of returning to who they one were. And as such they aren't granted any actual happiness because of it. So now Donnie feels he must to find away to do the impossible to fix what he has his brothers have caused.

On top of this Donnie also has a broken heart because the girl he loves most has stated that she never wants to see them let alone wanting to have anything to do with them again. And his brothers done seem to care about this. On the contrary they actually do care about what their brother is going through. But they don't really know how to deal with it or help him through it, so they are ignoring it in the hope that Donnie would get over it on his own.

Which is why we have Raph nonchalantly trying to offer some comfort by saying "Don't get so bent out of shape about April, she'll come back eventually."

But to Donnie it feels like he doesn't matter which leads him to ranting to the one person who really has no choice but to listen, Timothy. Worse yet Donnie see's April with another boy so now he feels threatened that the girl he has a crush on is going to be taken away by another who is closer to her species. Which stresses him out even further, because he feels he's losing the any chance of her reconciling their differences.

Worse yet the very person he has been venting his feelings to gets it into his head that he would be a better friend for April and escapes. This stress out Donnie further on account that Timothy could potentially end up hurting and possibly killing April whether the result is accidental, Or intentional after April rejects his advances.

And on top of that he has had to resort to hurting and possibly killing (permanently freezing) this said person in order to protect the girl he loves.
His brothers do get some sense that doing this has hurt their brother, but once again they don't entirely know how to deal with it or help him through his emotional turmoil so they offer what they can with a "You did what you needed to do."

So now Mikey adds to Donnie's frustrations by dousing himself in a rejected batch of retromutagen. We've seen Donnie has put warnings on some of the stuff in his lab because Mikey has a bad habit of playing with stuff in there. At first he acts like it's a joke because as far as he knew the zits were part of the human DNA that made up part of their mutation. But when they learn the zits were becoming more of an issue and what Mikey has done to cause them it only adds to his frustrations because he has more then likely warned Mikey on countless occasions not to mess with stuff in the lab. And now said brother nearly had to pay the price for it.

And on top of that it looks like Stockman is also in the race for reversing Mutations for his own ends. And now it's revealed that 2nd generation and possibly further mutations are possible. That is going to make Donnie all the more desperate to find a cure for mutations.

We know that Donnie has a bad habit of treating things like eating and sleeping as optional when he's incredibly focused on something. And it could end up destroying him before long.

^ I was at first made at the boys for treating Mikey so bad...but then I read this...and it kinda makes sense

------------from tumblr by sogdtsundere

Okay, guys, I love Mikey. I absolutely love Mikey.

One of the very first things that caught my attention about the show was Mikey’s interactions with his brothers - because I have a younger brother! And I thought it was so, so very on point, at least regarding my own relationship with my younger brother.

My younger brother was annoying. He wasn’t bad, he wasn’t mean, he was just … annoying. As some younger brothers are. But I still loved him, and I thought they did a great job of capturing the frustration/affection of dealing with a very goofy younger brother.

I am really happy to see Mikey maturing, I think it’s very natural and progressing wonderfully.

But it is a little frustrating to see everyone talk about how Leo, Raph and Donnie are finally learning to stop underestimating Mikey.

That’s not what’s happening.

Mikey is growing up. They’re learning that Mikey is growing. They were in the habit of dismissing things he said because he said silly things. Here are some of the things Mikey has done in S1:

Suspected Santa Claus was flying above them
Believed in Leprechauns
tried to eat gum off the ground
tried to eat gum off the ground again
like holy **** the entire opening of Parasitica he’s dangling off the back of Raph’s chair holy crap when someone does that to me I want to murder them holy crap
apparently repeated the same joke 14 times
Was unable to understand several basic plans
Had to have orders repeated to him multiple times
I mean I could obviously go on but this isn’t a tirade against Mikey - they love Mikey, and they live with Mikey 24/7. If they constantly took him seriously or expected him to be mature, they would end up hating him, because - he doesn’t (or didn’t) say very many serious things! He said silly, fun, weird things. So he was their silly, fun, weird, immature little brother.

I mean I’ve seen several people vilify Leo, Raph and Donnie for not believing Mikey about the brains in the chest in the s1 opener, when in the s2 opener he’s going on about a cottage cheese demon - dear viewer, you would not have believed him either! Not after 15 years of that.

Like this isn’t against Mikey, I like Mikey a lot. My own reading of the character says that early S1 Mikey was focused more on entertaining/hanging out with his older brothers, more interested in saying a joke that would make them laugh than anything else - but now he’s maturing into his own person, one that depends less on them for that type of validation. He wants different validation, because he’s growing, and that includes paying more attention, focusing more, and applying himself more to the situations around him.

http://media.tumblr.com/e1e9949578b94d188462091642337985/tumblr_inline_mwf6gqH4t21rs6ibf.png

(the heart muscle squish bit seriously made me so happy - it’s when I had real faith that they were going to take this character and make him mature in his own way, not just having him emulate Leo or Donnie or whatever - that was a very mature, undeniably MIKEY observation, said in a MIKEY way. Very pleased :>)

But it is frustrating for Mikey that they’re not noticing! He’s not okay with being dismissed for the sake of a joke anymore, he wants to be serious, he wants them to listen to what he says, not laugh at it.

His older brothers aren’t used to him doing that, and are adjusting as well, and frankly, I think they’re adapting to it way quicker than most older siblings would.

Like fandom is so quick to assign good guy/bad guy roles to everyone and it is so weird. I can’t roll my eyes hard enough at the people saying that “[my favorite turtle] is the only good character!”

There’s no good or bad guy here. It’s a bunch of teenage boys growing up, their world is changing and they are changing themselves and they’re learning to adapt.

The fact that there seems to be an almost perfect four way split among the fans about which turtle is the favorite says to me that they’re doing a very good job of writing four distinct different POVs, with relatable strengths and weaknesses - none of them are perfect, none of them are evil. Mikey’s weakness is that he’s a little goofy. There are worse things, but it does, and it WOULD, impact how his bros view him.

Donnie's actions did seem off for him, but as others have explained well above, he has a lot to deal with.

I really think this episode showed how Mikey is maturing. where old Mikey would've just sat around bothering his brothers, he decided that he knew he was right and needed to do something. Yeah the whole putting mutagen on him was pretty stupid, but again, he didn't do it for fun, he did it to try and become better for his brothers.

And, Mikey kinda got his one on one moment with splinter here. It was brief and the others were there, but it was splinter trying to teach Mikey specifically a lesson.

Just like in the last episode where Casey was introduced and yelled a famous line from the Mirage comics when he started to fight, we get another "pretty" classic character in Rahzar that reminds us of The Secret of the Ooze! I didn't see that one coming at all! Dogpound as Rahzar?! Really digging that choice and I didn't even really care for Tokka & Rahzar that much in the second movie.

I'm really liking how Rahzar looks. He looks very intimidating now as well as very tall! I loved Mikey saying "Shellshocked" because it reminded me of Turtles in Time. I also liked that Raph was the one to figure out where his favorite brother ran off to and saved the centrifuge for Mikey.

While I enjoyed having Baxter Stockman back and his presence complicating matters with Shredder and his Foot Soldiers, this episode was hollow and disappointing. It's the episode for me that caused a substantial detriment to the series, in terms of undermining the uniqueness (with the era of Dogpound gone for now at least) of mutations and character growth.

The episode was hollow and undermined the uniqueness of mutations because the Rahzar transformation seemed like a flamboyant "bad ass" mutation. ...So what exactly makes the new Rahzar more emotionally threatening than Dogpound was, besides "looking" threatening? Maybe I have to wait for a few more episodes, but I mean Rahzar still hates the Turtles more or less. At least with the OT, with the mutations in "Splinter No More" (even in the 14th episode) it made the characters gain a new perspective about humanity and themselves. In the episode, OT Splinter preferred being a rat after witnessing and experiencing the harshness of humanity. Heck, even in the Mona Lisa episode, "Raphael Meets His Match", at least with it's "random mutant" episode, it dealt with the theme of self-image.

...So what did Dogpound learn? The conventional "that he can't do human things and isn't taken seriously". If Fishface was mutated, I wouldn't have been critical because at least in "Baxter's Gambit", there was a moment where his mutation and the maze of doom, were tools to help explain Fishface's backstory while exploring his character similarities with Raph.

And as for why this episode was disappointing, and undermined character growth:
Well, Mikey's stupidity lives on and he doesn't suffer the consequences, unlike Timothy did. As I stated earlier, it looks like Nick Mikey has got some learning amnesia, a cognitive impairment or something mentally wrong for sure, at least at this point of the series:

So after seeing that "Mikey Gets Shellacne" clip, it was funny, but... Let me get this straight, Mikey puts the mutagen on his skin. And his reason? He put the mutagen on his skin to be better and cooler. Gee... where did we get that reasoning from? Uh, Timothy! ("The Pulverizer Returns!")

"You guys treat me like a big goof ball all the time!" Uh, yeah! I guess in Nick Mikey's case, monkey see, monkey do. EVEN if it looks painful and "nasty" (in his own words in seeing mutated Timothy) with Timothy's Mutation and the other many mutants he's witnessed being transformed. If Mikey didn't see Timothy's mutation, I could have let this incident slide, but really? Does Mikey have the capacity to learn from what he sees? Of course we don't know the full plot yet, but the show could have created an accident of sorts (Mikey skateborading in the lair) rather than seemingly create a plot around Mikey's stupidity.

In terms of Mikey's intelligence, it seems like its one step forward ("Parastica"), two steps back ("The Mutation Situation"), one step forward ("Invasion of the Squirrelanoids"), two steps back ("Mikey Gets Shellacne"). I don't know, I think I'm just going to declare in saying that Nick Mikey has some form of cognitive impairment or dementia with brief moments of lucidity.

With Mikey being the most sympathetic Turtle, and witnessing the human suffering Timothy went through (his skin, muscles, and bones dissolving to the mutagen like exposure to a corrosive strong acid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid_burn)) with the same reasoning, one would think witnessing that trauma would leave an indelible experience in Mikey's mind. Yes, I know Mikey is a feeler than a thinker, but this wasn't a simple warning/rule that Splinter or the other Turtles told him about, in his situation, Mikey was witnessing one of the show's darkest moments of suffering, even commenting how nasty it was, and not learn from that?? :-? Okay...

So some of us can forgive Mikey's stupidity with the mutagen because he was "cuter" and relatively less obnoxious despite having previously witnessed the horrible effects of several mutations from villains, and yet Timothy who was completely clueless/ignorant to the mutagen wanted to "help" in just the same way Mikey wanted to, but yet Timothy is harshly criticized? At least Timothy gets a pass because he had no clue of the devastating effects of the mutagen, but Mikey should have known better after seeing so many villains transformed and seeing Timothy's transformation.

I can't take this show's claim of character growth as seriously as it wants me to, when Nick Mikey can't even learn from witnessing somebody's traumatic experience. If Mikey at least took some random, arbitrary experimental chemical in the laboratory (other than mutagen) that improves strength for example (a metaphor for anabolic steroids with the horrible acne Mikey had), at least there could have been a moral inserted in this show about insecurities, taking unwise shortcuts, and I wouldn't rant about it. :P:lol:

...I didn't think it was possible to have a further letdown than "The Mutation Situation", but this episode has proven me wrong.

He said in the exact episode, he's much faster, less clumsy, and stronger. Mikey couldn't take him down.

Again, all superficial changes, not emotional changes. At least when Dogpound was Bradford, we were interested in his character because at that time we learned of his backstory ("New Friend, Old Enemy"). Do we really have the same interest in the "character era" of Dogpound?

ill admit, out of his 3 forms, i still liked his human the best. but rahzar is second, and while yeah it is different than the past (like a lot of things in this show are) its a cool take on him. i was one of the people that was getting bored of dogpound, every fight he swings he punches he hogs up space. didnt care for the asymetrical arms much either.

if nothing else, the change caught everyone by surprise, and turned a somewhat goofy episode into a more dramatic one. his new form also kind of shows the series getting darrker, from a bright orange furry dog, to a skeletal dark wolf.

Don't they already have a centrifuge? I distinctly remember Mikey using it umpteen times when trying to make the cure that had infected his brothers.

On a tangent, Greg Cipes is a wonderful voice actor. I think the way he delivered the line: "Fine, if you guys aren't listening to me, I'm not gonna wait to explode" was gold.

With Ramen noodles, its just boil noodles. But wasn't Leo cooking eggs? It takes a little more skill to make different varieties of eggs (sunny-side up eggs, sunny-side down eggs, soft-boiled, omelets, etc.) and using a spatula well. When cooking eggs its about timing, and having the dexterity to flip the half-cooked eggs without making it messy.

I assumed Leo was so focused on his other hobbies (i.e. ninjitsu training), that it left him severely inexperienced and inept in cooking.

Easily the worst episode since "Parasitica." If this was the best TMNT episode of all time yet it still had the Turtles not getting Baxter Stockman's name right, I'd still say its the worst episode since "Parasitica."
There's beating a dead horse, and then there's BEATING A DEAD HORSE. One bad punchline has turned into a defining feature of Baxter as a character, and has cemented the Turtles as the bumbling idiots that Nick has turned them into.

Okay. Even I have to admit that this punchline has gotten old, but it works. However, I wouldn't say that makes the turtles "bumbling idiots." That's dramatic to say. They do know his name, it's just a joke for kids to laugh.

thats not the ONLY reason why they're bumbling idiots. When they're in battle, they're stealthy and all ninja-y, but they opened this episode with that breakfast disaster scene, and in Squirrelanoids (sp? meh) they were knocking everything in their lair down...they're just clumsy and "dumb." And if they're just calling him the wrong name for laughs, doesn't that just make them assholes? They're essentially bullies if that's the case. So what's worse? Idiots or playground ruffians?

I love how the Turtles get Baxter's name wrong as it's funny, and that's the whole point of it. I think they do know his name, but they purposely mess it up to annoy him.

And, JYX, about Bradford, I think the defining moment was when he said, "I feel like a ninja again." He was complaining about how clumsy he was, and now he's better with his new mutation. I do wish we could have gotten a flashback story here like we did with Xever though as it would have been awesome.

And why is Baxter a jerk? Because people made fun of him. Even though that's a horrible reason for him being "evil" (and seriously, the dude can't figure out how to use a copy machine, but he can build armies of robots and a robotic exoskeleton, AND A RIDICULOUSLY INTRICATE SECRET LAIR?!) the Turtles know this yet they still (according to you) willingly make fun of him only perpetuating his jerkiness.

Thanks to everyone who shared their views on Donatello in this episode. (Both sides of the discussion) Although I still don't like some of his scenes, I do understand better now about the pressure Don has to deal with.

Seeing the comment about Stockman in the posts above made me wonder a bit. Do the turtles mispronounce Stockman's name on purpose or do they just don't care enough to say it correctly? I think I heard them say his name correctly when Baxter isn't around.

Even Donatello said it wrong in this episode.

I love how Greg Cipes is playing his role as Michelangelo. I really like (almost) all the voices in this series but Mikey's voice for me personally has something special to it. It doesn't feel he's acting as Michelangelo. It really feels he IS Michelangelo.

Man, I feel like the only one who felt this episode was just "meh". I didn't hate it, but I can't say I really liked it either. I think I'm just really disappointed in the amount of low brow/gross out/whatever you want to call it humor this season. I know it's for kids, but the first season didn't depend on it too much, and no one was complaining. Ah well, it is what it is - I'm hardly the target audience, after all.

I do like Dogpound becoming Rahzar (even if the renaming itself seemed a tad forced, lol). I like that Bradford commented on feeling like a ninja again. I never really saw Dogpound as clumsy, but it was clear he couldn't fight the way he wanted to.

I also enjoyed Mikey this episode. Yeah, it's a rehash of the "no one listens to Mikey" story, but I don't always mind that if the writers can pull off decent character moments. The interactions between the Turtles I thought were still good for the most part.

But I do have to say that I'm already starting to roll my eyes at the "shell" puns/slang. I don't mind if it's thrown in there on occasion, but it feels like it's just popping up all the time this season...

Like many of the others, I thought this was just going to be a filler episode, a little deviation until the more serious stuff started.

But holy crap! I did not expect to see what I did see in it, Bradford's new mutation. He looks so awesomely EVIL! :D While before I sort of liked his single mutation a bit (as fluffy orange Dogound) and even more his human form, I think I like his double mutation the best.

With the rest of the show, I didn't mind the zit stuff, it didn't come off as overly gross to me. Plus I didn't mind the goofiness, I thought it was cute. And like other folks, I liked how both Bradford and Xever didn't really like being mutants, and were eager to have their human forms back. Usually in the old toons (the 80's one) people got turned into mutants and then suddenly seemed OK with it, even as there was never care about how massively life changing it would be. I like how these two only merely tolerated it, but jumped on the chance to be human once again, because they KNEW it was a negative for their life. :)

But I have a strong feeling Bradford's going to like this form now over his human one. Especially after his line about feeling the mutagen flowing through his veins...

As for the future interaction now at least with Karai and Fishface, I think Bradford isn't going to be as big a pushover anymore. I think he's likely to become more vicious and feral now and a semi-loner, and likely to not care as much about teaming up.

Overall, I give this a 9/10.

I feel the episode was solid. 6/10. It was another one of Michelangelo being a major nincompoop (drinking discarded retro mutagen) and then complaining that no one takes him seriously after making a very stupid mistake. I feel it did nothing for his development. Just a recycled concept.

The Bradford mutation was cool for a change of pace but was it really even necessary? I like throwback stuff as much as the next guy, but I just felt it was a little forced. Rahzar will have plenty of time to win me over in the future but for now, I just see him as a novelty and yet another action figure to sell.

I liked seeing Dexter Speckman again and hope they hold off for a long while before mutating him. He's too much of a fun character as a wimpy human to lose out on. Finally, in the upcoming April episode, I'm hoping her character is developed more WITHOUT the turtles around. I'm hoping her fallout from them lasts for a long time. I think it's great that they didn't just have her let bygones be bygones after one episode. After all, she's dealing with so much grief and she is just a teenager. To expect her to just easily forgive the "people" who ruined her father would be a bit unfair. This thing needs to play out and I feel it would be great TV if it got even worse before it got any better.

WTF? You're making a big deal out of a small scene of them cooking breakfast. Who gives a crap?

Wow, wow, wow. Hold on a sec. Small scene? dude it was AWESOME. Apart from Rahzar, it was like the only thing I really dug about the ep.

OMG, someone even called parasitica the worst ep of the series. I think I'm gonna cry, haha.

Since we are on topic, I really don't have that many issues with them being 'silly' cause they are being represented as actual teenagers for like the first time ever. Besides, they really make up for it in the fight scenes. There gotta be a balance between goofiness and action packed badassery. Apart from that, I'm sure I got mad about some random thing they did that didn't make any sense at some point, but you know, kids show, fun times, etc. What I do mind is mikey coming across as a complete idiot all the time. I'm glad Ciro is also kind of worried about that, and went as far as removing scenes to make him look less stupid (which makes one wonder what the hell was in those shots he removed, haha). I guess it's too late to undo all the silly stuff they already made him do/say, but I trust his character will get better as the seasons keep coming.

About this ep in particular-since I'm already ranting-I personally don't like the grossness, but kids dig it, so whatever. The baxter thing is getting old though. Rahzar was awesome, the tension between karai and fishface was great, and the kitchen scene with the music playing in the background? freaking hysterical. Loved it. There were some flaws in logic however, that did sort of bother me at the time; like why didn't mikey call his brothers using his tphone when he found baxter and dp? Or why did don waste time drawing explodey zit diagrams when his brother only had hours to live? xD Oh, and let's not forget the 'molecular centrifuge' deal. Come on dude. You had a centrifuge. You got it back on parasitica. They even made a joke about it and everything. But you know, that's just poor writing I guess.

You probably already covered all this, please ignore if so.

Especially teenagers who have dedicated a majority of their life to self discipline and have faced numerous life threatening situations. I'm totally fine with the turtles acting silly on occasion, but constantly claiming that these turtles are more "realistic" because they're immature and make the same mistakes over and over...and over again, is just...well...really? I don't think a lot of people give teenagers enough credit for just how mature, intelligent and capable of rapid personality growth they actually are.

Eh, I think you're giving teenagers a bit too much credit. Particularly boys. I mean, your token Mr. Serious teenager is given form in this show. His name is Leonardo. He's always trying to make everything a training exercise. The rest of the guys act like normal teens: goofy, temperamental, fun loving, teenagers. If they're too over-the-top for you, you could just attribute their antics to the instability of mutagen, or the fact that before exposure, they were literally animals without any kind of anthropomorphic attributes and are, as turtles, unprecendentedly learning how to be "human-like" teenagers for the first time ever. Hope this helps.

WTF? You're making a big deal out of a small scene of them cooking breakfast. Who gives a crap?

thats just one example of many of the turtles being clumsy.

A kid's show making jokes for kids to laugh...boy it boggles the mind why they would do that???

i know why they do it. children are their demographic and they're doing a great job targeting them. i should've worded it differently.

Nova, we're not saying all teenagers act like that, but a majority of them do and they don't learn from their mistakes. Hell, I know of adults who don't learn from their mistakes and have kept on doing the same stupid stuff. My brother got three DUIs, so he didn't learn from his mistakes. So, to say that everyone learns from their mistakes isn't really the right assumption because not everyone does. And I like how the Turtles don't learn from their mistakes as it makes them seem more fallible and not as picture perfect as we want heroes to be.

I won't stop watching it only because every now and then we get episodes like "The Gauntlet" or "Follow the Leader" and basically any B-story with Karai.

It's a Nickelodeon cartoon. It's target audience is my 7 year old nephew. It's also one of my favorite shows, but still - it's a cartoon about NINJA TURTLES and I find it to be WAY smarter than most cartoons.

You're absolutely right. The target audience IS your 7 year old nephew, and my nieces and nephews ranging from 2-7. So shouldn't you want the heroes of the show that your nephew watches to be heroic and not muscle-flexing douchebags? I'm not saying that's ALL they are, but IF the Turtles PURPOSELY mistake Baxter's name then I'm wrong, they're not morons, they're just straight up bullies...and that's worse.

I don't think 7 year old's are going to think like that. They aren't going to say "wow the turtles are being mean" nor or they going to say "Why can't they remember his name, are they dumb?" What they will do is laugh and move on, just like everyone else.

Don't take it too seriously, plus Baxter is a villain.

And also Baxter has admitted to some felony's when he was telling the Turtles (And Dogpound) how he decided to become a super villain.

For example he's states that for a science fair project that he created a volcano that spewed actual lava and ended up burning down the Gym. I'm no expert at law but...some of those offences include

Destruction of Property
Arson
Potential Manslaughter (As in the other people in the science fair nearly escaping with their lives.)
Possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

And he feels that his expulsion was unjustified....?

Dogpound 2.0 is a kinda cool design, I guess, but it seems kinda... impractical. All that exposed bone... how is that supposed to work? Maybe it shifted some things/organs/circulatory system into like an exoskeleton as opposed to an endoskeleton.

Finally just saw this episode on the DVR. It was better than I was expecting, and while I'll need to see Rahzar fight more against the turtles, I do like his design better than Dogpound and he looks like he could be quicker and put up a better fight now. Doesn't look a whole lot like Rahzar from the 2nd turtle movie, but still was a pleasant surprise to pull on us. And finally, those zits on Mikey were disgusting. I couldn't stand looking at them bobbing up and down like that. I wanted to jump into the screen and take a razor to him and just start slicing them off him. So horrible looking.

Remember when Snakeweed and the Roach Terminator got blown up into blobs of goo? While they were goo, they had no blood running though their bodies, and most of their organs were either destroyed or separated from their body. (And Snakeweed had 'died' several times.) They still came back. Their body cells didn't die without a blood supply or a heart, and could even reform back up again (Snakeweed) or regrow into a new body (in the case of the Roach.)

Now how all this fits into Dogpound's new form is that like those two others, his body parts can still live even without a constant blood supply. Theoretically because of this he might even be able to revive or come back like they can, making him a bit 'immortal.' So that's possibly why he can go to the extent of having exposed bones, because it won't kill him since he's almost impervious to death anyway.

a lack of muscles connecting his leg bones sure seems impractical...but then again...my disbelief is suspended because "ninja turtles"

I was busy with my field based experience this past week, so I didn't want to post until I was finally done. But wow, what an episode! Loved the secondary mutation and was blown away by the plot twist. I wasn't expecting to see the henchmutants so when Karai suddenly showed up yelling for the both of them, I figured we were in for a heck of a ride. Can't wait for this weekend! I can't believe it's almost time for another new episode. Life flies by when you're working with 4th graders.

In this episode, Karai shows more bossy and arrogant.

The introduction of Razhar was cool. (I wish to have Tokka as well, but a separate character from Slash).

I feel bad to Baxter to was practically hold hostage by the foot, but in comparation with 2k3 Baxter who was mutilated or the way 87's Baxter was treated, this Baxter is a lucky guy. Help to much in this show the things happened to him are present in a funny way (of course except when Shredder threats him or when Baxter was mistreated by Dogpound and Fishface). An example when he was locked in the roof after the fight with the kraang or when he tried to build Fishface's legs, and it was out of control.

I hope this Baxter didn't follow the steps from his previous incarnation, because aside Mutage man, he is the least evil villain if not he wasn't evil and unlike his counterparts, he is a true comic relief.

I know, right? As for them getting his name wrong, I'm pretty sure they do it on purpose to annoy him. And so does everyone else, apparently. When he's not around they seem to have no trouble getting it right. but to his face? Oh, you better believe they're gonna use that to push his buttons. It's like Spider-Man's quips and jokes when fighting villains- it's there to distract and frustrate them, in the turtles' case by asserting that they don't consider him a threat. It's basically their way of pi$$ing him off so he'll make mistakes, get frustrated, etc. But they really DO know his name- they just don't care enough to use it when he's around.

Hey Saber, the clip was the mutation day origin story Splinter told. I used Splinter deciding to follow the Kraang down the ally for my cause and of course he and the turtles being mutated was the effect. And thanks Babyturtles. I hope to be able to help my students apply what they've learned in class to every day life and to try to avoid as much tedious busywork EG worksheets as possible. You have to evaluate each student but we're learning that that can be done through other forms rather than test after test etc. Seems like allot of them saw this episode as well because they used a few examples of c and e last Monday from this one after it aired.

I think this is the best episode on S2 so far, but even then I don't think it was that great, it was a little better than average but it still didn't make me all excited about it. I don't know how I feel about Dogpound becoming Rahzar. His design is not bad, but we already had another character that wasn't bad and now he becomes yet another character. Hell I still liked him more when he was human. Stockman continues to be the worst animated interpretation, karai keeps being boring and the zit subplot has been done better in other superhero teen shows.

I don't know how true that is, but it does sound plausible somewhat.

My biggest guess (also previous mentioned by someone else) is that they might theoretically be intending to make 'Rahzar' Shredder's challenger or rival. He gained a lot of the same traits (scary looking, covered in sharp blades, ninja skills) that Shredder has, and that's probably not a coincidence. I don't know if Shredder has ever had a major rival or leadership challenger exist in the comics, but if true in Nick, it would be an interesting plot since Rahzar knows a lot of Shredder's secrets and his fighting style. :)

Edit: And if this happens, Rahzar could go after Karai, knowing that she's a key point in Shredder's revenge against Splinter. That would force Shredder into a fight with him, and Splinter to act to save his little girl.

Doubt this is true. The production cycle for an episode is so long (over 12 months) that the script for this episode would've been completed around the time the series premiered. Clancy Brown probably did the voice recording for this episode before Bradford had even been mutated into Dogpound.

Yeah, but I wonder if the idea to change Dogpound into Rahzar was planned from the start. Maybe they didn't decide it till mid-way through Season 1's production.

Otherwise why didn't he just start off as Rahzar? The "Dogpound" design could have never existed and Bradford could have mutated into Rahzar right from the beginning.

Didn't they mention that Dogpound and Fishface were meant to be this shows Rocksteady and Beebop? They're even featured in the original opening, I'm guessing that they ended up not liking the characters too much? I liked them quite a bit actually, but I think I ended up liking their human forms more than when they actually mutated.

it could also be that they had already suffered a bit of villain decay by the end of the first season, this was a way to change that and probably when making S2 they liked the idea of second mutations and he seemed like a nice way to start it off?
