Anyone thought about editing your own tmnt movies? Some Star Wars fans dislike Jar Jar Binks so much that they edited out Jar Jar's scenes in the Phantom Menace.

Now I love TMNT 2007 movie, but even I admit some parts of it are flawed. I plan to edit out the boring droned out narration at the beginning (deepthroat guy: "four turtles, four brothers.." ) and the stone brothers' history (repeated TWICE - one in the opening and the other by April in her apartment) which is cringeworthy to me.

I want to optimize my enjoyment of the movie and remove the flaws. I'm sure other fans have already done something like this. Share your story with us, I'm all ears. :D

edit: Finished my editing, now rendering. :D Yes.

I did this with Man of Steel, removed about 25 minutes worth.

I know theres a stance of "You can't edit someone else's art!" but, look, it's not like theres only one copy of Man of Steel and I'm changing it. Snyder's cut still exists, just not on my iMac :)

You could actually look at it as an remix like you do with music ;)

I'd love to edit the 2007 flick out of the franchise.

Haha, this. If I were to edit "TMNT" to take out all the stuff I don't like, there'd be like 20 minutes of it left.

I can't see myself ever doing this. I'd just feel like I was watching something illegitimate. I don't even care to watch the deleted scenes on my DVDs, because to me, I feel like if they aren't in the movie, they aren't "real." Even the TMNT fanfic I'm writing off and on is an original timeline, because I wouldn't want to add to an existing one.

But I'm also the guy who won't buy separate songs or "greatest hits" CDs, because I think it's disrespectful to pick albums apart. So maybe I'm crazy...

I honestly don't see the point of this. I would feel like I would be missing scenes like I was watching it on TV with commercials on Sunday.

i actually like the intro, it gives back story without needing to spend half an hour showing what we already know...and that deep voice is Laurence Fishburne BTW aka Morpheus aka Silver Surfer aka Perry White in Man of steel

Those Fanedits can be a slipper soap, It draws the line of messing with copyrighted material, Plus it would be ileagal for them to post it anywhere to download since it would violate copyright.

A bit off-topic, but why don't you like that great movie?

I've done a few omnibus edits of the classic TMNT cartoon just for s*its and giggles and I often frequent www.fanedit.org, where there are plenty of more polished variations of movies on there than I could hope to muster on my own with my lousy programmes. There are a few TMNT projects over there, but none of them were ever completed or, at best, approved. One project I saw there was one to combine TMNT I and II into one film...which would have been awfully jarring.

I dunno. I feel like TMNT 2007 is, at least, better than 3. Maybe 2.

Say what you will about TMNT 3, at least it had a story you could follow....

I'd love to edit the 2007 flick out of the franchise.

If I had to get rid of something it would be Coming Out of Their Shells followed by TMNT 3.

I don't know. I do not like edited music, not a fan of edited films where they cut out what they deem unnecessary to the story. The film is what it is, leave it be or add content to go with it. It reminds me of those groups that fight to have books reworded to omit things they don't like. You know, take the fight scenes out, ect. I just don't know. But I can see how it would be a useful tool to train to become a film editor. To polish your skill at the craft.

As much as I love Superman Returns, I had a thought and changed the ending a bit last week.

-Lois, Richard, and the kid die in the sinking boat; the last we see of them is them sinking banging on the glass for someone to free them. But Superman already had his "Look towards the boat, look towards the city" moment, and chose the many over the few.
-Superman, after saving the city, flies to the new continent that Luthor made and confronts Luthor, where he gets the crap kicked out of him, is stabbed with Kryptonite, and and falls off the cliff into the water.
-Lex and his cronies are relaxing, celebrating, when all of a sudden the mountain begins to shake.
-They flee, and as they leave Luthor sees that Superman, with Kryptonite still stuck in him, is lifting the continent out of space.
-After throwing it into space, he plunges back down to earth, where he is rushed to emergency, where you see them remove the piece of kryptonite that Luthor stabbed in him
-We cut to shots of people mourning for Superman to get better outside the hospital
-A nurse walks to check on him, notices he's missing. The music swells, we see Superman taking flight, shedding a tear for Lois, and closing the movie.

If this ending actually had happened I would have gone apesh*t, but it was just an idea I had that I thought i'd try. Works pretty well i must say :) Pretty seamless.

I just wish more movies had the TV edit on the disc. I'd love to see how they get around certain scenes and the like.

I would like to see any of the action scenes where they use stupid cartoon sound effects replaced with badass music and normal weapon songs. I haven't seen 3 in years but I recall that being my biggest issue. Same with the TV live action show... it makes it unwatchable for me.

I did this with Spiderman 3 once. It was awful.

The only thing I'd like to do is edit the first movie so the turtles all had red headbands. I saw a video where someone had edited a couple of minutes, and it looked great - and it made me want to see the whole film like that.

I want to edit the Hobbit trilogy and try to make the whole thing around 3 hours just to show Peter Jackson it's possible.

What do you mean by that? The work you did was awful or you made the film (more) awful?

I did this once with Dead Man's Chest by reinserting deleted scenes and fixing some small mistakes. The runtime increased by an entire half-hour (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), and only a couple scenes really add anything to the film, but I was pretty pleased.

people literally do this all the time.

http://www.fanedit.org/forums/content.php?

you can see tons of them here. The most famous example of these is of course the star wars fan edits of the prequels and the de-specialized originals.

I brought up fanedit.org earlier in the thread. I love that place, I do a few over there myself.
