TMNT at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

So I'm watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and heard Teenage Mutants Ninja Turtles will be at the Parade. Anyone here watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade every year?

I am going to watch to check it out. Of course, I am not nearly as much a fan of the Nick Turtles as I am of the original cartoon series... but I have to be thankful that the turtles are still around at all for another generation.

NBC is showing them now(11:22). The same float with a band like last year. Turtles moving in place with kids in Crooked Ninja Turtle gang costumes.

Just before that the original six Power Rangers did a few moves to the original theme and the current version appeared and they did moves along with them to the current them. Then came Pikachu! 90's kids rule! :D

The TMNT have never gotten proper justice at the Thanksgiving parade. In their first (possibly 2nd) appearance in 1991, there were two 1960s Cadillacs with Raph and Don in one car and Leo and Mike in the other, and they never had a song and dance, and of course no balloon. Like in 2012, the TMNT followed the Power Rangers, with Neon Trees performing. I hope 2014's is bigger if the movie is a hit. But its still good promotion for Toys 'R Us buyers.

I've been watching this parade religiously since I was little, though I like to channel surf to CBS when NBC has commercials. I visited the parade in 2003 with my family, and although there was no TMNT balloon to promote the 4kids show, it was still lots of fun.

I knew Macy's was a real store, but I always thought the parade was fictitious and created for Miracle on 34th Street :lol: Oh well.


I've looked for images from past evetns and it seems to be a very nice parade indeed. I'd have watched it live on the internet if I'd known about it.

All of the singers in the parade HAVE to lip-sync. Nickelodeon has a working relationship with Fall Out Boy, thus they get on the float. Nickelodeon doesn't give a crap about Vanilla Ice, and having him on the float would have been damn embarrassing.

Yes, all of the singers have to lip sync, since it would be hard to have them sing live, but I don't care. I was stoked that the Turtles were on the float and that Fall Out Boy was there. I like them.

I got curious and looked it up on youtube..... just just why?! sure I like fall out boy to an extent but they should never be paired with turtles. And whatever Neon Trees is.... Thankfully, while I was cooking at the time - I did catch the float on TV real quick (...my brother was out there in the living room and he wouldn't tell me when the TMNT section was on - so I had to peek back in the living room. LOL)

Anyways - I still like the usual 2012 costumes, and the float was nice (it was there last year, too I believe... ). Funnily enough though, I really didn't pay much attention to the music performance going on. ^^;; I might have to watch it again to kind of absorb the whole moment.

That was an awesome float, I love that it had banners with Kanji on them, & that it was not only TMNT themed but sort of a New York Pride thing, with firefighters, cops, & qt chicks with I <3 NY sweaters & liberty hats on. The musical performance was so much better than that of last years, Fall Out Boy, & daaayum did Mikey have moves! I was laughing my shell off. As a side note, I love that all of my favorite things showed up at once. Adventure Time, TMNT, Kool-Aid, Pikachu, The Big Apple, & a video game dance. Neat. Glad I tuned in for once.

Although I can't complain too much since NBC and CBS are the same parade... caught TMNT on NBC and kept checking CBS to see them again. ;) Always found it weird NY was on two channels, but now it makes sense... lol (Throw in the regional one from Philly and I'm jumping between three channels... burning calories before dinner. lol)

Really though, next year get some scarves on those guys, they look a little cold. :) Also because adorable.

The float and turtles were great! Loved Mikey's dance moves, LOL! I'm watching it again right now, and the TMNT are about to come on in a few. Spider-Man is up next. I liked that Pentatonix was in the parade as well- nice TMNT link there, too!

One of the only reasons I like the parade is because of the Build A Bear float. Even the Chipmunks and Chipettes were there once for The Chipmunk Adventure!

Missed them... twice. Had hoped they were in the last hour that I was able to catch the repeat of after getting home from relatives, but they must have been on sooner when I'd left the tv for just a short time this morning. Ah well, at least it looks to be the same float as last year. Cool that they were paired up with Panic at the Disco. Too many other singers I couldn't care less about sitting through their lip syncing. :P

Flipping between channels I manged to catch them on this time. :)

Wish more had been said though and the attention wasn't mostly all on the singer. The people hosting the CBS airing mentioned them in the first minute or two of the parade so I was hoping to catch them on that channel as well (if there was more chance they'd say more about them), but never saw them there... I suspect it was missed due to CBS's determination to waste time showing pre-recorded non-parade crap. :ohwell:

We have 3 weeks until the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade for 2017, and I'm sure the Turtles will make another appearance, but given that the show ended this season, I would guess this would be the final appearance of these versions of the Turtles, so in the 2018 Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, I would bet we will see the Turtles from the 2018 series make some kind of appearance, you know its inevitable.

Fun seeing it, be it 'Rise' or not, though wish they'd have allowed a better look at it, rather than brief moments before being zoomed in on the people most of the time.


Anyone catch it on CBS? I always like to try to get a second look at their float on CBS after seeing it on NBC, but not sure if I missed it on that one or if they just skipped it.

Though CBS always confuses me... It never quite makes sense compared to when things are showing up on NBC. I assume they must have more than one camera set up and are picking and choosing? And possibly having skipped TMNT or were at commercial?
