View Full Version : When will we see the "real" Wingnut show up?
CyberCubed

As we know Mikey calling April's Dad, "Wingnut" as a joke, but the toy confirms his name is Kirby-bat.
Ciro Nieli posted concept art of Wingnut and Screwloose around a year ago:
http://oi39.tinypic.com/2vjubyf.jpg
Now while its possible this concept art was scraped and been abandoned, it at least shows they were considering bringing the two of them into the series at some point. Also notice Screwloose who hasn't been left out.
Do you think we'll see them? And will they still be aliens or be changed into mutants?

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but Kraang Prime is male.
Female voice actors play a lot of male characters in cartoons, especially young boys.

Kraang Prime still isn't Krang... and what if the the toy released IS called Wingnut? Kirbybat could have been a prototype, and he was never called as such in the show.

It's called Kirby-bat because it sounds better than just calling the toy, "kirby."

It depends I guess. They could still use these sketches to bring them into the series. Wingnut/Screwloose as a pair would work especially if the Turtles go into Dimension X to finally save Leatherhead.

That could work, especially if they say the Kraang terraformed their home world and killed all life there and they want revenge. I just wish they never dropped the name Wingnut to begin with. What a delightful coincidence they happen to find an alien bat that calls himself the exact same nickname Mikey called April's father in Dimension X?

Oooooor, he has some non-English name and Mikey decides that this bat will be called Wingnut.
I deem this plausible, only for the presence of that sketch.

The idea of Wingnut and Screwloose coming out of a gateway to Dimension X, flying around rooftops in the Nick TMNT show, bantering back and forth as they go around throwing rocks at people seems perfectly in the show's wheelhouse. In fact, if I had to take one thing from the Archie material, it'd probably be them. Pity if the idea is poo-pooed because of April's dad, who didn't even need to be mutated.

Honestly, they should. And I mean the whole bit, with the whole my faithful screwloose, plankton chip, screwloose putting wingnut to sleep by sucking out his blood, all of that. They should totally go for it.

I'd love to See Wingnut and Screwloose in the new show as I liked them in the old comics but as usual with the 80s toon, was disappointed with their portrayal.
I'd love to see all the Mutanimals get introduced and eventually form a team.We already have Leatherhead. Wingnut, Screwloose, Ray Fillet and Mondo Gecko would be great.

Honestly though, Wingnut should be an alien and should already be named as such. We don't need Mikey to name him. Unless he has some weird alien name and then Mikey calls him Wingnut.
The figure of April's Dad is officialy named KirbyBat, so Wingnut is plausible.

yea i was just thinking that actually after reading through this. Kirby might get oozed again and become the REAL Wingnut. He'd probably regain his human intelligence and become some sort of superhero - just an idea. I can only assume that a mosquito might suck his mutant blood and become Screwloose - making them a duo.

Me: Is there aaaaany chance you could confirm or deny whether or not Kirby is officially being regarded as this series' Wingnut, or was it just a joke used by Mikey? Lotta fans are split on this issue, especially considering the concept art for Wingnut from a year or so ago is a completely different thing than what we've seen Kirby become.

No he isn't. Wingnut was used as a throwaway joke to older fans since kids watching the show have no idea who Wingnut is. If it was his real name it would be stated properly like Rahzar was and the toy is also named Rahzar. They don't still call him Dogpound anymore.
The toy is named Kirby bat and that's what kids will read and think if him as. Not Wingnut.
My guess is the concept art of Wingnut was scraped and Ciro decided not to bring him into the show since they found no use for him.

Wingnut himself is not a big deal to me, I just don't want Kirby and that design to be him.
Wingnut was only in one episode of the old show and in the Archie series he was a lackey. He was never a pivotal character but I wouldn't mind seeing him.

Being part of a superhero team is considered being a lackey? Go home Cyber, you're drunk.
I'm thinking April will never have her father back. IF and I do mean IF he gets cured, I wouldn't be surprised if he flat out dies in season 3 just so they won't have to think up any other excuses to get rid of him for another season.

Yes, I agree and I think the toy boxes are often a good clue. The 'Wingnut' was a jokes, pure and simple, and I think it would hurt things if Kirby got mutated yet more, since it might be likely that double mutation is irreversible.

I'm thinking that an actual Wingnut won't appear on this show. I think Kirby was just an homage to the character and Mikey calling him that was just a wink-wink moment to those that remember the classic character. But what are the odds that Mikey would create a nickname like "Wingnut" for Kirby and then an actual Mutant or Alien will later be on the show whose name is Wingnut?! I doubt that would happen....
The classic Wingnut figure is one of my favorites!! Would've loved to see a new figure of him. I really don't care for the Kirby design, but he will definitely be added to my collection! :tgrin:

Perhaps Kirby will become the REAL Wingnut when he gets double mutated again.
I mean his head is so big! Perhaps it'll explode and Kirby will gain some muscle and intelligence.
But that's if Kirby will get his intelligence again, get his revenge on the turtles and April tries to stop him. Eventually, the turtles tried to save him again but when he falls into the mutagen and mutates again like Dogpound becoming Rahzar, he redeems himself and gains a friend out of Screwloose.

I agree with what you said I think.
The Kirby Bat is just a larva state representing his fear & despair for being chased by the Kraang and mistrusting of the turtles & Splinter.
Eventually, he'll be able to break free of those negative feelings when being double mutated.
Like a caterpillar to a coccoon to a butterfly.
And THAT'S where he'll become the "real" Wingnut. If he'll gain a friend out of Screwloose.
