We all know that Donnie/April/Casey triangle is coming however this isn't the only triangle that is being introduced in the story.
We know well of the triangle that of Hamato Yoshi/Teng Shen/Oroku Saki.
Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki were friends and even considered themselves as brothers. However they both loved a woman by the name of Teng Shen and that caused a wedge to form between them. Teng Shen loved Hamato Yoshi and chose him as her husband. Oroku Saki on the other hand couldn't accept her decision and chose to let his jealousy consume him. And viciously attacked his former friend and his wife constantly harassing and tormenting them to prove to Teng Shen that she rightfully belonged to him. And that resulted in her eventual demise.
We have seen signs that Donatello's relationship with April and Casey may in fact be an echo or a mirror of events in his fathers past and it wouldn't surprise me if a portion of the the Hamato Yoshi/Oroku Saki relationship will be lived out through how Donnie and Casey's interactions with one another.
We've already seen Splinter catching Donnie jealously ranting about Casey existence in April's life. Which lead us into the "Teach you to enjoy falling down" lesson. As a means of reminding Donnie that he can't simply force to April to like him. But also the underlying attempt of preventing Donnie from running the risk of following the Shredders path. And we may see more of this as the triangle forms.
As this particular incarnation has an over arcing theme of the choices one makes and the consequences that come from said choices, it is likely we will see more of a "What if..." situation with the D/A/C triangle as they could be making choices that are the opposite of what the H/T/O triangle has made.
I.e.
Oroku Saki-Did not accept Teng Shen's choice of Hamato Yoshi as her perspective suitor.
Hamato Yoshi-Would have accepted Teng Shen's choice of Oroku Saki as a perspective suitor.
