I've always liked them and really wish we got the rest of them as toys. For the most part, how does the TMNT Fandom feel about them?

I cannot speak for fandom but they were my favorite ally growing up and still are. There was only the cameo of 3 out of 4 ofthem in the anime special that really gave them exposure beyond two figures, one of which looks nothing like the actual character. Its great having a "turtle" team b stashed away for emergency situations where they can come in and take part or on occasion be in town. They were fun characters and dialogue with unique weapon choices just like the turtles only have notorious names that only fit how they got started. I would have perferred different names but love the characters and wish to see some avenue for thier return in current and future TMNT projects.

I liked them too, it was one of the episodes that always stood out for me from childhood and I still enjoy it now. It would be kinda cool to see them in another incarnation but the OT had it right by not overusing them so only for an episode/issue or two.

I liked them as a kid, but now I'm indifferent to them. They feel like a squandered idea from the OT. I'm down for some sort of re-imagining of them where they are an actual threat (they never felt like "punks" to me).

Love 'em. Wish they got their own manga or something (Japan seemed to like the Punk Frogs much more than the US did back in the 90's).

'Invasion of the Punk Frogs' is a pretty good episode and I'm glad it was referenced again in the series but they were never that prominent for them to have any development. When I say development I mean any they all seem to have the same personality as each other and kept to that throughout all their appearances in the show.
I think they worked as a one of ant-turtles or if they needed a general mutant for a plot like in 'Dirk Savage Mutant Hunter'.

It irks me to no end that Napoleon Bonafrog wasn't part of the Mutanimals in Archie.
The other 3 frogs are just boring clones of each other. Napoleon was the only one with personality and got solo episodes.

It'd be pretty funny if Nick were to bring them back and really made them mirror the turtles by giving them the same builds & color-coordinated outfits as the turtles, essentially.

I like them a lot. They were sort of like the TMNT's amphibian cousins.
I wonder how a spinoff with them could have worked? I guess maybe not too well if they couldn't get the Mutanimals to be a success.

Most FW fans seem to remember them. I've personally never been a fan of them because they all acted the same and were all naive and not so bright. That being said I did enjoy their debut episode and it's a shame they didn't get better character development and that the anti.mutant squad(or wtv its name was) never appeared again.

F*ck these clowns.
Really, though. They're isn't a unique personality among them and they rely pretty much wholly on the "Turtles-counterpart" gimmick, which has since been done more memorably.
There aren't many characters in the franchise I'd say I don't want to see again simply based on their concept, but the Frogs are among them.

But why didn't he appear earlier?
Mondo only got 2 episodes, Merdude only 1, Wingnut/Screwloose only 1, Mona Lisa only 1, Man Ray got changed to Ray, Mutagen Man only 1, Muckman only 1.

.... cause they didn't come up with his toy design sooner...? Again, Genghis was wave 2. Mondo was what... wave 5 or 6? The frogs have had plenty of time to re-appear throughout the the show's run. Mondo was in it near the end before Red Sky changed everything and stuck to the core characters, with the exception being Rat King and Casey. It's almost like asking why did Leatherhead have more appearances than Slash.

I sort of view the Punk Frogs in a similar way to other characters that were introduced in the OT and got a Playmates figure but didn't appear in any video games, such as Mutagen Man and Mona Lisa. They have a cult fanbase and are in the class of highly anticipated characters looking to make a return in a new form, like Mutagen Man did in the Nickelodeon series. I applaud Fred Wolf for making a spinoff in the parent cartoon along with making some distinct features of each. I'm surprised they didn't get more combat with Bebop & Rocksteady since they are also thought of as punks. And Mondo Gecko was in wave 3 with Napoleon Bonafrog (1990), so its not like he appeared to late. Unfortunately, I still have trouble distinguishing each one immediately when I watch them and their evil roots in their first episode were rather silly compared to other villains. But I wouldn't be disappointed if they never appeared again.

If they were to appear in the Nick series, I think it would be fun to steal Spider Bytez idea and have them be "Kung fu Frogs." Then they could have completely different fighting styles compared to the turtles and it could open the door to give them some more personality and increase that "similar but different" vibe the frogs seem to have been created to evoke.

I didn't even find these guys special as a kid. I think its better when only one of them showed up...eh even then I didn't care. I couldn't differentiate any of them that's how poorly they stood out. Calling them a poor man's TMNT would be giving them too much credit.
They had cool action figures, but that's about it. The Napoleon Bonafrog Figure was so different (and so much better) than the design on the show, as a kid I didn't even realize that it was a figure of one of the Punk Frogs from the cartoon. I thought it was just another mutant that didn't show up in the cartoon.

I thought they added a new dimension to the show. A someone like me type of thing to the turtles. They were all kinda the same but I find them sort of necessary too. I didn't mind them at all. And the turtles can never have too many allies. Sorta one of those starts off as a villain but then becomes an Allie like Lotus.

I enjoyed the frogs as a kid. Now I'd come to the show around 90 or so. Spring, this would have been. I got one of the frogs before I'd even watched an episode featuring them and thought they were interesting. Wish they'd made all 4. But I did have Genghis and Napoleon. It was great being able to check in on the frogs every now and then in the ot. I actually liked them a little better than the neutrinos.

The neutrinos were a little bit too over the top for me, still like them but the frogs had personality, and would actually fight. I'd really like for playmates to make all the frogs like they did with bebop and rocksteady.

Well the Frogs seemed connected to Leatherhead in the OT.
And for Nick, Leatherhead just has a menacing growl with no more of that Cajun flavor.
If the Frogs returned, they don't necessarily need to keep their accents despite their OT origin putting them in swamp lands.
If they were to appear in the Nick series, I think it would be fun to steal Spider Bytez idea and have them be "Kung fu Frogs." I like them a lot in theory. In execution, though I don't dislike them, I feel they could have been done much better.
My first experience with them was just watching a trailer for an episode with them (the one where they fight Leatherhead, I believe) in a VHS I rented way back when; I believe it had The Turtle Terminator and one other episode on it. There, the narrator called them "The Feisty Frogs." Having since seen them and learned their actual team name, I have to say that "The Feisty Frogs" is a much better name; not just because it's alliterated, but also because I really don't see how "punk" actually describes them at all. They're not at all like any punk stereotypes; indeed, Bebop and Rocksteady and the Neutrinos are closer to that than the frogs. They're Southern (particularly Florida) stereotypes.
I also dislike how their origin is so sudden; really too sudden to justify them somehow being close to TMNT-caliber warriors; not to mention that being originally frogs doesn't give any justification for how they act human.
Finally, I really wish they did something to live more up to their names. I think if they were revamped, they should be called the Feisty Frogs, and should match their names in weaponry:
Attila--Club.
Genghis--Bow.
Napoleon--Rapier.
Rasputin--No idea; maybe something magical?

Ditto on the execution part. I thought they were interesting, but needed more diversity in their personalities. Napoleon was the obvious leader, and would be the natural fit for a strategist, Genghis could have been the team's powerhouse fighter, Rasputin might be the clever, intellectual type- and perhaps the intel ops; and maybe Attila could be- a range-fighter and stealth specialist? Keep the weapons the same as in the OT, but give them more definition between them.
As for their origin, they were caught by that kid right before the mutagen landed in the swamp and the kid's dad told him to throw them back. Since the last thing they touched was human and it was only moments earlier, then it makes sense they changed so fast.

I think it's an interesting concept. Much like the Marvel universe having the Avengers, X-men and Fantastic Four, I like the idea of the TMNT universe having more than one superhero group in the Ninja Turtles. We also have the Punk Frog and the Mutanimals who I see as the Avengers of this world. Individual mutant heros who unite sometimes.
