As a tribute to James Avery, what were your favorite Shredder moments or dialogue from the original toon? Also only choose episodes James Avery voiced Shredder in, not one of the replacement Shredder VA's throughout the shows run.

I love how Shredder could sound threatening and menacing in one moment to comedic and silly in other moments. I love Shredder's banter with Krang and his moments of breaking the fourth wall talking to the audience.

What are your favorite moments or dialogue?

Cowabunga Shredhead easily. James Avery could do a better, funnier Michelangelo impression than Townsend ever could do to Shredder when he replaced him. To me my favorite line and perhaps all-time was when he was at Vinnie's Pizza with Leonardo and Raphael, searching for a kidnapped Michelangelo when he says "There's some cheese left in this Shredder... SHREDDER...SHREDDER....SHREDDER.SHREDDER.." and then thanks to the special spell has his mind transform back to Shredder and becomes very evil to Leo/Raph, backed with "You're not going anywhere, AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!", which sets up one of the most dangerous, dramatic moments in the series. There are several other funny lines in that episode which brings out the Uncle Phil in him. Honorable mention to his Splinter portrayal in The Old Switcheroo.

Yeah, i'm probably going to go with Cowabunga shredhead as well. Other turtle actors who impersonate Michelangelo are awesome in my books, and James Avery is no exception.

Hate to parrot it, but yeah - having re-watched that episode and others fairly recently, Cowabunga Shredhead definitely stands out even amongst Avery's other dialogue in the role. It not only showcased that he could still play Shredder even while being a completely different character simultaneously, it was just a hilarious concept that he was able to bring to life completely.

Beyond that though, I'd also have to credit a lot of his work in that first five-episode mini-series, from when the Shredder was still being treated as at least some sort of a threat. Avery really sold that well too.

A personal favorite though, if I had to pick just one line itself, is his little pouting moment where he's jumping up and down screaming 'I never get to have any fun!/I won't, I won't, I won't!'. I forget exactly which episode that's from though.

Yes, I remember Cowabunga Shredhead and how hilarious he was when he was Mikey in that one. Avery really did a good job with that. He had a lot of good lines, but the one I remember the most is one I think we all know pretty well: "Tonight, I dine on Turtle Soup."

Agree about Shredder as Michelangelo in Cowabunga, Shredhead!, but for me the first to come to mind is, "I don't wanna conquer this place...I wanna conquer Earth!!" from The Shredder is Splintered.

That's a really good one too. As in, so good that just reading it, I heard his exact line reading in my head, especially on the latter part of the line.

Along with Cowabunga Shredhead, I also loved some of his dialogue with Krang. Like when he had the Turtles beat, Shredder about to destroy them, and Krang calls and tells him to leave them alone. So he says "I won't, I won't, I WON'T!" jumping up and down, and Krang replies, "You will, you will, you WILL!". :P Probably my most favorite TMNT moment right there.

The episode : Take Me To Your Leader

Krang: Ooh, you have a way with words, Shredder.

Shredder: Well actually, I always wanted to be a writer. Being a ruthless conqueror was my second choice.

Already mentioned, but he was amazing in the first 5 episodes.

Agreed on all of the above. Or any time he insulted Krang's lack of hands/hair/etc. Like he was rubbing it in that Krang had no body and had to depend on HIM. So evil! One of my favorites was in "Michelangelo's Birthday", when he finds out that he's about to snuff Mikey out ON HIS BIRTHDAY, and is all mock sympathetic, and then laughs wickedly over the irony. Such a cruel b@st@rd.....

favorite line from Shredder was from the episode the Foot Soldiers are Revolting.

Shredder to a foot soldier: Have a seat Alpha one. You are about to make robot history or this thing will make fried noodles out of your circuitry.

Same episode

Krang: The Power Cells have been charged to full capacity!

Shredder: So are the fillings in my teeth.

I remember in "Return of the Shredder" (Season 2, episode 1) where he is calling on the foot soldiers and none arrive. He then scares the muggers away. I thought that moment was funny that he was without any foot soldier help, but relying on Baxter Stockman and the "Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang"

James Avery, you will be missed.

"You grotesque ganglion!"

Krang: "Soon, we will have the Turtles out of our faces!"
Shredder: "Krang. You have no... I won't say it. It's too easy."

(Marching with an army)
"You left, you left. You left your wife and 48 kids."

I loved when Shredder would say stuff like"Baxter, you idiot!"
