Shredder's Eye

So what's the deal with the eye? Is he meant to be blind from it?

I'm wondering because I'm trying to draw him but not sure if I should keep the pupil in or go the route of the show and remove the pupil, make it look blind or "zombie" (dead).

He's meant to be blind in that eye. His eye got that way due to half of his face being burned in a house fire in Japan, during the fight between him and Yoshi.

It doesn't seem to effect his fighting skills, maybe he's had plenty of practice not using his blind eye, kinda like big boss from metal gear... To answer your question i would go with your original idea, just draw it with no pupil

You could make his bad eye's pupil be a lot more milky then on his regular eye, I personally don't think he's completely blind on it, it might just be exterior superficial damaged.

He really does. That's why Karai isn't always in the same episodes with him. She's trying to pay off daddy's medical bills as well as hiding in her room because of all those tirades he launches into about hating the turtles and Splinter, as well as all those brands of eyedrops that don't seem to work for him. The kid has probably had enough. haha

But yeah, makes sense concerning his adapting to fighting with the one good eye. It certainly hasn't made him any less lethal of a warrior. That's an interesting new twist they added to Shredder in this incarnation.

The framing of the image will only have one of his eyes exposed, which (if I'm using features from Nick) would be his "blind eye".
I had no pupil for awhile 'cus I was still staging the whole image... and then I added it in and wasn't too happy with it.
But I mean, it's an eye so normally I would just draw it differently until I felt I got it right. But with this, I have an option to go about it differently.

His blind eye has a milky look to it and kind of looks bluish and a bit red. I also agree that having him be blind in one eye is a different take on this Shredder and one I like.

I like the idea also, but it hasn't been used natively. It doesn't seem to be a weak point. For all we know it's cosmetic.
It would be amazing o see him walking down an ally and drift into a dumpster or something lol
