At the London Toy Fair today, LEGO presented some of their brand new playsets. The playsets that we're most interested in, were the ones for the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninnja Turtles. An official look at these characters is still a closely guarded secret, so everyone in attendance was warned not to take pictures of the movie playsets. The websites, Bleeding Cool and Brick Fanatics, had some their own foot clan members on the scene and they have some interesting new tidbits for you to chew on. Oh, and perhaps the most interesting tidbit is that the character Karai seems to have a meaty role, as she has her own mini-figure/playset. For those you that aren't familiar with Karai, she is a high-ranking member of the Foot Clan, who sometimes is portrayed as having a familial connection to Shredder. She first appeared in Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's comic book (1992).

There were three movie sets from the Turtles movie: Turtle Van Takedown, Big Rig Snow Escape and The New Turtle Lair. The Turtle movie minifigs were on display and so close to the cartoon themed ones the design differences were obvious. They were certainly darker, literally darker, a darker shade of green and chunkier.

The Splinter figure was chunkier too and had shortened legs to make sure he stands lower than Turtle height. None of them looked too friendly either. You certainly won’t mistake the movie and TV versions of these characters.

I asked a little about and was told some things about the other sets that I didn’t get too good of a look at. One is a motorbike chase with Karai, another is a submarine set and there was also the Turtles’ T-Rocket too, but as far as I could tell, these were tie-ins to the show and not the movie. - Bleeding Cool

TMNT movie sets will be Turtle Van Takedown, Big Rig Snow Getaway, Turtle Lair New figs: Leatherhead, Spiderbytez, Kirby Bat, Karai (movie and show versions). Differently styled Turtles in the movie sets, much darker. Splinter has short legs. - Brick Fanatics

NINJA TURTLES will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman ("Wrath of the Titans"), and produced by Michael Bay ("The Rock"). The script was written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, based on characters created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The cast includes: Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Danny Woodburn as Splinter, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Will Arnett as Vernon and William Fichtner as Shredder. It lands in theaters June 6th, 2014.

So the Lego set Splinter is grey, but the playmates toy is brown? I've heard he was black, too. What the heck color is Splinter anyway?

From what I can what out from the toy fair pictures, he seems black.

Maybe he's a mixture of colors like Nick Splinter?

Big Rig Snow Escape

So many things still present from that terrible original script.

^ okay, that made me laugh.

I don't get why they're still keeping images of what the characters look like under wraps. It's like they have no faith in this movie whatsoever, and want to avoid as much backlash as possible

Happens more than you think, trust me.

A recent example is the american remake of Oldboy. I say literally ONE commercial for this movie, at like 3 am. That's it.

It came silently and went just as silently. And this thing had profitable stars in it. Samuel L Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen, Josh Brolin.

The studio cut their losses and didn't bother with any kind of promo material.

Worst Thanksgiving Day opening for a movie of all time, I believe.

Am I saying that's what's happening here? Not really. But it's HIGHLY weird that we haven't seen a single official thing from this movie. Not a teaser trailer, not a teaser poster, not an officially released image of the Turtles or Splinter or Shredder or April. Nothing. Not a single thing outside of what's being shown at this Toyfair.

How many? A scene? A few scenes, that could be re written and used in different context?

From memory the action scenes, like the chase scene you are reffering to, seemed pretty good to me when I read that script. Man Of Steel had scenes\dialogue taken form previous unfilmed scripts. It happens, stop being so overly negative.

It's as if JJ Abrams was involved in this. Although at least with him, we got teaser trailers of some kind. But here, we don't even get that. And when pictures of the Turtles get leaked, Paramount ask them to get taken down. Yet they didn't do the same thing when the Halloween costume got leaked...

And that's all that matters.

I even got a dmca or the like email for posting the Shredder image on my blog, it was then taken down by Tumblr. But they DIDN'T remove the image of the poster I posted at around almost the same time.

They have no idea what they're doing.
