So I've been watching a few episodes of season one and I did something I've haven't done in any of the season two episodes: I laughed. Like a real, this is funny I'm not just chuckling because I understand the joke laugh. I still love this show, but I'm just wondering why TMNT isn't funny anymore. I know Ciro and crew wanted to make this season more serious, but I don't think that's justification to drop the whole comedy aspect of the show. Or maybe this set of writers just aren't as funny?

I don't see how this show isn't using humor anymore. The more recent episodes gave me a few chuckles. Plus some of the writers of each episode are still the same.

Season 2 has the same amount of humor as season 1. You're just used to the character dynamics now when they were all new before.

IDK....I was laughing pretty hard in Slash and Destroy...until Slash ya know....went crazy on everyone.

the Squirrelanoids episode was pretty funny too!! I laughed at the breakfast scene in Shellacne! and Mutagen man released was hilarious! Especially Donnie imitating April.

I think season 2 has had its humorous moments. The part where Mikey found the stuffed eguana got me laughing. Not sure why, but the one where he got really bored, said he'd scream, then followed through with it made me laugh. But then again there are times when I've rewatched them and haven't chuckled. Just depends on what kind of day I've had and how much sleep I've gotten, I guess. Hope there are moments in future episodes that get laughs out of you.

Huh. Well humor is subjective so it's probably just me.

Yer know what? I feel the same way. I mean, don't get me wrong, i still love this show and it still has it's funny moments, but there just isn't as many in this season as last season.

Like you said though, humor is subjective, some people will find things funnier than others.

Carry on.

Hey KS, I could tell that the guy who wrote Mutation Situation was trying a little too hard with Mikey in that episode. I didn't find him as annoying as some folks but the bit about the cheese demon that never existed had me shaking my head rather than laughing. Maybe everyone has a different sort of funny bone? Subjective humor and all. haha I dunno. This is an interesting topic btw. The writers know that both kids and adults are watching this one, I think. Maybe they're trying to write humorous bits that appeal to both, as well as strive for that dark/serious tone. Do we know how the writers plan out a season? You'd think they'd all meet via internet or whatever to make sure each episode flows into the others, and to insure that the characters' personalities are consistent. I wonder if there are new writers coming onto the project this season? If so, that might have something to do with it.

It's not just you. Season 2 has had less humor than the first, and some of the humor it did have missed the mark just a little. Not all of it. Still rules, though, and I think that trend was more a part of earlier episodes as opposed to the more recent ones, barring episode 1.

Humor that appeals to both children and adults is tricky. Early episodes of Fairly Odd Parents actually did a great job with this. I can see that the TMNT writers are trying. Cottage cheese demon, like blindturtle said, and the super gross zits on the Rahzar episode were clearly for the kids. (btw, am I the only one that cannot stand gross humor? Makes me feel nauseous. Mikey's zits were freaking me out!) Raph's "dumber than a trenchcoat on a turtle" was for older fans. But still, all of it is sorta meh to me.

haha yeah, not a fan of grose humor either! Just don't understand the appeal. I certainly wouldn't have been able to eat during Mikey Gets Shellacne. That kind of talk around the table makes me lose my appetite every time. How many times did they say the word zit in that one?! My bh can watch pretty much anything while eating. I wish I had that super power.

I think the humor's been fine. There have been some moments where I've laughed. I wasn't a fan of the Squirrelanoids ep but the part where the squirrel's in a tree over Splinter's head made me chuckle and made me think of the scene in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation where the squirrel was in the Christmas tree. I guess it just depends on the episode and the jokes involved, but I've laughed quite a bit.
