Does Nick plan on releasing season one on blu ever? I'd love to have it as the hd streaming looks and sounds mediocre. I'm sure this has been answered elsewhere but forgive me, searching isn't my strong suit.

I truly hope so! I hate buying dvd's but I did buy the dvd's of this show as I missed most of them when they aired and I wanted to catch up. However, I would double dip in a second if they announced a Blu-ray release! Shout has been doing a nice job of putting out the Transformers Prime series. I would think this TMNT toon is just as worthy of a blu release!!

I was *just* thinking about this. Yeah, we need a season 1 blu-ray set. It's been way long over due now.

Please make one like NOW, Nick.

I don't feel the need. Went to my friend's place, popped Rise of the Turtles into their Blu-Ray. IT WAS BETTER QUALITY THAN SOME BLU-RAYS. (70-inch TV helps too. But it was totally in 1080p.) if you have a Blu-Ray, remember it also makes your DVDs better looking.

You're talking about dvds right?

I did the same with the dvd into my blu ray. It's still inferior to blu rays. :tmad:

Blu rays are still far superior and there still isn't a dvd box set of the show even. WTH is taking so long? Turtle sets seem to sell well.

Forget blu-ray. I just want a complete season boxset here. However, blu-ray would be nice.

Just saw where they are releasing the first 13 episodes of Beware the Batman on Blu-ray. Hopefully TMNT can get a blu-ray release if a show that was essentially cancelled before the first half of the season was done airing gets one.

I own all the episodes so far on iTunes and I'd still rebuy on blu-ray if possible.

Frequently requested and always ignored by Nickelodeon.

How did you all have the picture set up? Was it set up to watch in full screen where there are no black borders around the picture? It may look fine if you did that, but then there's always the chance that you could be missing a bit of the picture depending on how the Blu-ray player's settings are. I found that I had to set my Blu-ray player's picture mode to 4:3 for when I play widescreen DVDs on it to get the full picture, although there will still be the black border. That being said, I'd also hope for Blu-ray releases so I wouldn't have to fiddle with my Blu-ray player's settings.

Having the whole season on blue ray would be awesome, but Nick will probably keep putting out the random episode DVD sets.

I know it took quite awhile for legend of Korea to end up fully on blue ray so I'll hold my breath until then.

It'll happen eventually. The Nick sets are aimed at kids, they're cheap so the parents will buy them for them.

Nick is well aware older fans want proper season sets. And by "older fans" I even mean teens 13+ who are watching the show.

The Legend of Korra has both season 1 and season 2 sets out on both blu-ray & dvd. So we should be getting a blu-ray set from Nick.

I don't even care if it's blu ray or not, I just want a nice, organized season set. I don't want to have to buy all these 6 episode sets individually. But then again, I don't want to wait for a season set to see it not get made, then not be able to find these sets, either.

Exactly what I'm saying. I don't care about quality, just an organized season set. (I also need space on my DVR ;- ;

I suggest you guys go on amazon and purchase the episodes there...its awesome...you can pick hd or standard quality and will own the episode the day after it airs... No waiting on dvds here

But I want a product...something I can hold, take pride in, display on a shelf...I guess it's a collector thing.

Lol i hear ya man.... I was the same way for a while...now with ipads smart tvs, apple tv, i prefer to have things in a cloud and have access to it in the matter of seconds... I love the convenience of it.... I never worry about missing an episode... I can appreciate the desire to hold something in your hand though

Yeah exactly.

I also prefer that option if it's a possibility. It's not the same as having it in the cloud or something.

It's not just about owning it in a more physical way... Blu-Ray is very high bitrate, iTunes is comparatively low bitrate. If you compared the 1080p itunes to 1080p blu-ray, the blu-ray would have an edge. In action scenes, it may have a big lead with much less pixelation and artifacting.

So yes I really hope we get Blu-Ray someday because it's the best way to archive the episodes in the best quality.

I'm not here to rag on iTunes or other digital formats, as I've said a few times in different threads, I own the Nick TMNT seasons (currently on "season" 3, with 4 probably coming in another 4 or 5 episodes), yeah I do appreciate the convenience a great deal, but I like having the best quality possible, and the only way we can get that is through Blu-Ray right now.

So, here we are, into season 4... and STILL no blu-ray release of ANY Nick TMNT, let alone seasons 1, 2 & 3!

I just don't get it. Nearly every other Nick show already has full season releases at least on DVD & blu-ray. Legend Of Korra... the complete series is out on blu-ray, and that show was produced during the current TMNT production.

Had this show been 2D, I'd have no problem with DVD because most all 2D cartoons look fantastic on DVD when played on a blu-ray player.

I just don't get it? WHEN NICK, when will TMNT seasons 1-3 be available on blu-ray???

I actually found this Nickelodeon web contact page:
http://www.nickpress.com/contacts and I shot an email to Talia Yates as she seems to be the person that would handle this type of inquiry.

Anyone else have any ideas on how we can get this released?

The only way to do so is to prove it's profitable.
I don't know if the Korra Blu-rays sold well, but if they didn't, there's no reason for them to make TMNT ones.
They don't even make Spongebob Blu-rays, and that's Nick's flagship show!

atreyu2112

That's just it...

Spongebob is 2D animation. DVD is good enough.

Korra ... I can go into Target, Bestbuy or Walmart right now and buy either DVD or blu-ray, so I think that point is moot. Even Avatar TLAB - they just released a full SERIES boxed set!

TMNT is profitable enough. I don't think thats the reason.

The reason is that kids are the target demographic. Kids don't usually care about video quality. They only care about the show being on their TV, in any format.

God damn kids... If only they knew the advantages of superior audio/visual quality and the ways it could benefit their young lives.

They're just stupid, simple as that. I've been asking for blu ray since the beginning.

Don't want money? Fine. IDGAF about dvd.

This show needs to get a blu ray release along with countless other animated shows.

The problem is that it's usually the parents who buy the DVD. If they see a cheap DVD beside an expensive blu-ray, they're going to buy the cheaper option. As an adult I'd buy a DVD over blu-ray because money. I also don't see any drastic difference that would make me think that DVDs are of such poor quality and I've been spoiled by blu-ray. The picture quality and visuals isn't a major thing for me. I know this means that I'm blind and stupid but that's just the way it is for me.

Given that Nick is releasing complete season DVD-only sets for this series, I doubt we'll see Blu-ray sets until the series is over. Hell, maybe we'll never see them.

Aren't the digital versions in HD at least?

If someone had bought all the episodes from Season 1 through 4 as a HD digital download, you can just burn those videos on a blu-ray disc.
