How do you think you would feel about it? I think if this show came out when I actually was a kid, it would be without a doubt my favorite cartoon on television.
The thing is a lot of the jokes in the show are actually aimed at adults, so it may fly over kids heads. It's like how when you watched Disney movies as kids you enjoyed the characters and story, but then after rewatching them as adults you understood all the jokes better and the underlying themes that you didn't notice when you were a kid.
I grew up with the original cartoon when I was a kid in the 80's and 90's, and then I was a teen when the 4kids series was airing. I know if Nick was reversed with the two of them it would probably be my favorite.

I completely agree with you. The comparison to Disney movies is spot on. As a kid, I could see myself enjoying it just for the basic characters and ideas. But now, there's a lot that I'm positive I would have missed as a kid, and that still appeals to me

I think the only difference would be that people wouldn't look at me funny when I'm buying the toys/merchandise

Not that much of a difference. One thing I like about this show is its pretty much for everyone.

Probably the same way I felt about the OT when I was the target audience. I loved everything about it and bought every toy I could. I couldn't get enough.

I'm not a huge critic now and I was even less of one as a kid. I would've been obsessed with this show.

The same way I felt and still feel about the Looney Toons?

Hmmm, it's really hard to say. When I was a kid I generally preferred slice-of-life type of shows to action shows, so I'm not really sure how I would have taken to it. But then again, as a kid I did still LOVE the live action movies, and the second one always made me laugh, so I think I probably would have really taken to Mikey and all his silly, nonsensical joking around. And I guess some things never change, since even as a five year old I though Casey Jones was just the most awesome character ever who absolutely belonged with April, so I probably would be just as annoyed with the Don/April issue as I am now

I consider myself part of the demographic there trying to reach, as a fan of the turtles I find many of the things in the show fun and refreshing. While there are a few moments that I could do without I would say its been great to look forward to a new episode of my favorite brothers returning every week.
As a fan of the many iterations that the turtles have gone through I find there is plenty in this version to enjoy and keep returning for. While the show may seem geared towards younger kids I find it appealing towards all ages, especially if your a turtles fan in general.

I'm pretty much a big kid so I would love it the same~ maybe a little more.
if that's possible *_*

From what I can see the jokes have a real Rocko's modern Life vibe. The show has enoughsurface humor for the key younger audience, but enough subtlety with certain jokes to entertain the parents who more often than not grew up with the original toon.

I'd probably like it a little more. Stuff that bothers me about it - CGI animation, the April/Donnie thing - almost definitely wouldn't bother me if I was 8.
As it is I like it fine but I'm not fanatical about it. I catch it when I can and rely on the DVDs to make sense of it all.

In all honesty, I would have loved it more than the OT, mostly for the family aspects. In the OT I never really felt like they were teenagers, much less brothers. There was no real bickering, squabbling, beating-the-snot-out-of-each-other-love between them that my brother and I had, which made it hard to connect as a little kid. Not to mention that Splinter actually has a father-like role now that I think a lot of kids can relate to. I know I would have. My mom still laughs her arse off at me when I do something stupid. ;-)

Why does it matter? I'm 17 and this is my favorite TV show.

A show I'd be quick to reject completly upon immediatly glancing at vastly superior shows like Gravity Falls.

I would have a lot of TMNT action figures.

I would have loved the 2k3 show if it had aired when I was a kid. Serialized shows have always interested me more than one shot cartoons/live action series. Loved the OT show and always will, but the ongoing plot threads throughout 2k3 are among some of the best I've ever witnessed. I liked how the turtles were a family in 2k3. Not getting to visit my siblings save a month or so a year had allot to do with that. Divorce sucks.

I agree with some of the other posts, however I would have taken the 2D animation (especially on the OT's) as rather crude and be interested in that version until I would be a mature teen or adult, similar to how I enjoy many old TV cartoons from the '50s/60s/70s/early '80s, despite the technological drawbacks and outdated (but still educational in a sense) references. But unlike when the OT aired, there is so much more information at your fingertips that I would learn about the older Turtles versions and watch them to pass time between new episodes. You can say the same about the video games, with the simpler controls/art styles of the earlier games. And of course, I would be on the nick.com forum more often. But remember when you were a kid and believed in Santa Claus, and possibly the Turtles and thought that they really lived in the sewers? It would be more difficult to avoid such info to believe, so I would hope I would have parents that tell me what to access and what to avoid.

I wonder how many little kids watching are going to say they had a crush on teen April growing up.

If they ever see 80s April or Megan Oneil they'll hit puberty in seconds.

It's hard to say, I'm not picky. Either way animation would have been a major complaint of mine, I'm not a big fan of this type. As it was, I almost missed this series due to that. Me being a big Leo fan I stuck around, I'm glad I did :D
The one sided April x Donnie thing bothers me still but me.

My standards for enjoying a cartoon were almost as high as it is now, except I had less patience in watching shows. My time as a kid was limited in enjoying cartoons in dealing with homework, a lot of household chores, and having to accompany my parents everywhere they went since they were divorced and obviously couldn't leave me alone in the house (going to the grocery store, clothing stores, eating out, etc.) And to top that, having to be in after-school daycare since both of my parents worked. In addition, being a kid, one just doesn't have a tolerance/patience for shows you just don't find interesting, unlike when one's an adult. :P
There were a few cartoons that I actually attempted to go out of my way to see (getting up early on Saturday or Sunday; forget about weekday cartoons), and therefore there were only a few that I got very attached to. Seeing how the characterizations and their development within Nick has been repetitiously underwhelming for me now, I probably wouldn't have cared about the Nick cartoon and probably wouldn't have bothered or cared about TMNT in general if Nick was my very first exposure.
For me, back then and just as it is now, if I'm going to spend and invest time in a show and especially with its characters, it has to be satisfying to my tastes. Otherwise, I just wouldn't bother watching it as a kid.

You guys have to remember kids today have more distractions with the computer, Ipad, Iphones, etc.
It's the whole reason ratings for TV in general have gone down over the years. Although if we had this same Nick show in the 90's only with hand drawn animation instead of CG, I wonder if it'd look really good.

I just can't see the new show as a handrawn show.
