Okay, so the episodes are being shown out of order. Again....
This week, it looks like April's been getting a case of sewer/cabin fever, and is ready to explore the city at night Ninja Style.
It's probably going to take some serious convincing, considering Master Splinter wouldn't let the boys take one step out of the sewers until they were fifteen. April may not be Splinter's daughter, but that doesn't mean he's not going to let his overprotective side kick in high gear.
So, probably with the help and promise from the boys to keep an eye on her, April finally gets to have a taste of a real rooftop run. Not exactly the easy 'fun' training that the boys insist it is. But she'll survive..
Now we finally have the opportunity to see April and her little mind-reading/psychic radar thing in action. We've seen her tweak out when the Foot entered the lair last week, and we've also seen her communicating with the Kraang through Donatello's unusual glowing orb. This week, we should be getting another hint at April's past. is she part Kraang? Maybe... Could she be a test-tube hybrid crystal baby a la Mirage vol. 4? Anything's possible.
Hopefully we'll actually get some of our little plot holes taken care of, not to mention some items that haven't been touched upon in WEEKS... We still don't know about Leo's reaction to Karai being Splinter's daughter, we haven't seen April's Bat-Daddy in months, and now she's hearing more and more weird stuff.
I am seriously not used to this being on Sundays... but we'll be open!
Stay tuned!

I thought it was a good episode, Plenty of action and, We all saw it coming when it was revealed that. April is Half Human/Half Alien.
It was cool seeing April being in on the action, Even if she tried to keep up with them.

I thought it was kinda boring myself... even though they finally explained why Aprils so important to the Kraang... I can't believe they kidnapped her mom thats kinda freaky!!! And if shes only half human does what does that mean about her parents? Are they both human or only Kirby?

I guess next time unlock it midnight Saturday night, or let someone else do it? Although, honestly, we can just wait.
Is it Kurtzen or Kurtzman? I hate to write the blog post spelling it wrong.

I'm sorry, but the humor was shown WAY too much in this episode. I swear, the humor is getting stupider and stupider...

I feel that this is one episode that's difficult to judge at this moment based upon what was revealed, given that April being not fully human has been unknown until today. April's mom looked like a nice human blonde that looked pretty human, but I feel that Kirby likely made a crucial mistake shortly before pregnancy that lead to some Dimension X DNA in April's body. It's probably a miniscule amount that only leads to minor changes, but enough to show that this April is unlike any other seen. That said, there was some good OT-inspired April in terms of the "wait for me, I'm not missing out on this action" along with another DID moment. That said, there was a lot of great humor, from the April clone laughing in that dark room to all of the April clones freed to of course April Dirt. It felt a bit too over the top in its presenting, but there was still some decent battle action, and Kurtzman driving the commercial van was pretty cool, preceded by the famous escape cry "Let's make Turtle Tracks!" There was a cool Raph moment during the battle too.
Overall: 7/10

Rather dull episode, but I really liked Kurtzman from what we saw of him. April derp was also nice but it got less than 5 minutes if screentime.
Other than April's origin this was just a run of the mill Kraang episode.

Didn't think the episode was all that good and was wierd but had some good moments in it.
Finally finding out about April and her Physic powers so she's half human half alien Kraang mutant.
April's Mum was kidnapped and expermented on before April was born, wow! that's kind of dark for a kids show but still don't no what happened to April's Mum though (I'm wondering she walked out on her family)
Raph protecting Mikey and saving April but annoyed me that Donny wanted to save her and April didn't like that it was Raph come to save her, selfish or what.
The Turtles and April in the Eelevator with the awkward music
Donny being sassy
Some bad moments
I like Mikey but he was insensitive when he said welcome to the family at the end.
April was being selfish and ignoring Leo when he asked her to stay behind, it was clear she wasn't ready for a mission yet.
So many April clones and April Derp was OTT

This episode was just too routine. It was the same exact Kraang stuff we've seen a million times before and Kurtzman was very underused.
I don't get why they brought TCRI back. How many times do we need to see the Turtles infiltrate the same place?

Not really sure how I feel about this episode right now. I'm still sort of scratching my head over the reveal, and some parts felt really slow to me. Kurtzman was cool, but he just sort of disappeared midway into the episode until the end. Maybe I'll have to re-watch this one to get a better opinion, but right now I can't help but feel a little disappointed.

It was the rehashed Kraang scenes and lack of screentime for Kurtzman and April derp.
It answered the questions we wanted, but everything else lagged a bit, and as I stated in the other thread, I was bummed with the ending. Saw it coming, but didn't really want it to be that way.
Plus it definitely explains why Donnie was completely out of it in Good, Bad, Casey. Everybody took shots at him in this episode, plus I'm sure they're going to be make him just as upset about the news as April.
I'm just waiting for the episode where Donnie and Casey will have to work together now, without him now trying to blow April's secret.
Overall, It's not a Top 5 episode to me, I have it 6 out of the 9.

The part with Donnie was her being upset with herself for not being as experienced as they are and always needing help.
The part with Raph was, IMO, the fact that Raph keep razzing her for being useless and slowing them down throughout the episode... and here he is, rescuing her, further proving that she is useless and needed to be rescued.

Less April Derp the better. And there really wasn't much Kurtzman can do. If he went with them on the mission, he would gotten in the way.

April's a mutant!!!!
Psychic blasts!!!!!
Kraang Prime!!!!
And...
TCRI IS BACK!!!!!!

Kurtzman seemed like a cool character too. I wonder how involved he'll be in future episodes...
Did anybody else catch the scream from mrs. Campbell? :tlol:
"This amuses Kraang"... Further shows how sick the Kraang are...
April DERP was hilarious! And kudos to Mae Whitman with that evil April voice.

eeeh....I didn't care for this episode at all...
April was getting on my nerves.....she wanted to be part of the team but she was obviously in the way.....and then she gets kidnapped....
and she not wanting to be saved by Donnie? even though she clearly needed it.
that said the Donnie and April got on my last nerves......especially when Donnie shoved Raph outta the way and hugged her......ugh.... can your crush be any more subtle???
Mikey got a good laugh outta me though when he said telepathetic XD heh heh.
and his "welcome to the family" :D too soon....but hey he's a glass half full kinda guy.
not that excited for psychic April...seems kinda...mary sueish to me.
one last thing...when April complained about Raph saving her...I don't know that rubbed me the wrong way.......like what? you wanted Donnie to save you again or something?
oh wait....April derp......*shivers*....I just wanted it to get the heck away from Mikey......ugh...
sorry for being negative...but those are my thoughts....
that episode had a lot going on, I'm not quite sure what to think of it yet. It wasn't bad at all, but not in the top three either, IMO. Nice to get some answers to Aprils past and the connection with the kraang, and I like it didn't reveal too much. I'm really puzzled about Kurtzman - I know many have guessed that he is Bishop, but I definitely got more of a kraang-vibe from him, and we now know that they're really good at making clones

I liked the episode. Yup, we all saw the mutant bit coming though. Well at least she isn't a hideously deformed creature of superhuman size and strength kind of mutant. Wait, that's a toxic avenger/crusader. You know what I mean. She's more of an X-Men kind of mutant. I like the fact that she's not some monster hiding under an April façade, so to speak. I don't think so at present, anyway. She's just got the shining, is all.
Loved the action sceens and Kirtzmen was great. I want to see more of this guy. And April Derp? Oh yes, she ruled. I wonder if we'll see another Derp eventually. She was so loveable. "April love giving hugs!," and all that. At least that's what I think she said in the middle of the 3rd act. Anybody else hear that?
Great to see Kraang Prime again and I'm seriously wondering if we'll see April's dear sweet mommy some time down the line. They experimented on her, huh? Well what in the name of peperoni and extra cheese did they do to her? I think she's still around, but that's just me. I do wish they'd give us more info on what the Kraang are up to. That's about the only negative thing I could come up with.

Anybody notice the billboard at the start of the ep (when they were running on the rooftop) that said Jonesy Kitty Pest Control with the phone number of 555 - BYE Mice??? Wonder if that's what Casey's dad does for a living?
So the Kraang have been on earth for thousands of years mutating things. So are they responsible for the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, Chupacabra, Jersey Devil, ect?

I didn't really like this episode. Just like "Follow the Leader", there was nothing terrible about it, but it just seemed so dull. April's backstory stuff was interesting, but we still don't know much about her. There was some stuff I like, like April being saved by someone else than Donnie. April herself annoyed me for some reason, but all the clones were cool, especially the fight scene with them. April Derp was REALLY creepy, especially the smiling "normal" April head. I swear, if we get an April Derp action figure before Karai...

Didn't like this episode....
Felt very routine and trivial in the actual pacing and plot but everything else was decent. Liked the backstory on the Kraang and Kurtzman but not sure how to feel about April being part-alien!
There was no major development aside from the ending and the rest of the episode just wasn't all that interesting to me....they even recycled TCRI with absolutely no new designs. That sucked. The whole Derp and Cloned April idea was EXTREMELY unnecessary and lame, another random mutant of the week!

Oh yeah, Raph's Girl, I can see them responsible for Nessie Wessie! haha Now that you mentioned Jersey Devil, I can't get Black Betty from TMNT 2007 out of my head.
Forgot to mention that I liked the look into how the Kraang droids are recharged. And it'd make sense that TCRI would be rebuilt. They're the Kraang. I bet they have quite a bit of money stashed away in multiple accounts. It's undoubtedly accumulated over the years. And they can probably program droids or Footbots to work around the clock if they want. Idk. TCRI might get a few complaints from people having trouble sleeping at night, but that's about it. There are only like 20 people living in NYC anyway, so I doubt it bothers many. hehe Glad to see the TCRI building up and running again. Now can we please see the technodrome a second time? I miss giant floating shippyship. Well it's kinda sunk right now, but there you go.

I really thought this episode was going to be suspenseful but it ended up being too predictable. The TCRI building was rebuilt somehow with no explanation. I was extremely annoyed with April being rude to the turtles for saving her, especially Donnie. When Raph tries to save her, she was so unbearable to hear, I just wanted too slap her. He might as well have said, "Oh, I didn't know you wanted to be drilled in the head. Maybe it'll be a good improvement for ya!". And seeing all the April clones really felt unnecessary. They were no threat to the turtles with the exception of the one that fought them at the elevator. And April Derp........no comment. Probably the biggest turn-off for me was the big secret at the end. April is a half-human, half-mutant. I kinda saw this coming but I was hoping I'd be proven wrong. The only thing I liked was Kurtzman. Not going lie though, I thought near the end of the episode, he was going to be revealed as a Kraang, lol. Overall, I thought this was a disappointing episode. Probably the first episode of the season, I did not like.

Thirteen Monsters reprise? I was just wondering how Max Winters could fit into the show somehow, if they were to use him.

Makes perfect sense to me...
Heck, that water creature from Dimension X fits the Loch Ness monster to a tee...

What I found creepy in this episode is that April was essentially forced into those white long johns before she was experimented on.
April Derp was as creepy and disgusting as I thought it would be. I'm glad she didn't last that long, unless they have more rejects in that reject bin.
Still the news about April being a mutant half human/half alien appears to be shocking and somewhat devastating to all parties particularly April and Donnie.
This doesn't entirely rule out the theory that April is a neutrino. Well it does and it doesn't. The Neutrino's were after all a humanoid race from Dimention X. And the Neutrino's do have psychic powers as babies namely Telekinetic powers.
So maybe the Kraang have been experimenting with creating beings that carry both humana and dimention x DNA. And April is the only one who is the perfect specimen of what they are trying to create.

I personally loved it. My only problem was that they really expected us to buy that whole "Kraang have been Earth since ancient times" thing pretty quick, because it was pretty darn brief. Other than that, I dont see why people think it's a recycled episode. It gave us the answers we wanted, it progressed the story, and now the 1st season's finale make sense!
I don't get why people didn't like this episode that much...

I liked the episode, To me it was way better than the squirrel ep. or the one where Mikey had turtle acne (which most people love for some reason).
I don't have a problem with April being part alien either as long as a brain doesn't pop out of her stomach (Gee I didn't know that was there Drerrr).
I was surprised at how light hearted the parts where were they killed multiple April clones was. But I didn't mind.
Was glad to see some Raph / April interaction. A lot of people didn't like how April Said something to the effect of " O great being rescued by Raph, I'll never live this down". But no one mentioned Raphs Cool and kinda nice reply that "We all have days like that". :tgrin:

It answered most of the questions that the S1 Finale brought up. But I do have a few problems/nitpicks that I'd like to address:
-During the fight in Kurtzman's apartment, apparently Leonardo's swords are so strong, that they're able to deflect laser blasts like a Lightsaber.
- Where was Casey while all this was happening?
- Why would Mikey crack a joke about April being a mutant just MOMENTS after she found out that she wasn't human?
I give this episode a 7/10.

He's one of the head writers of the show, and did some pretty good work on Avengers: EMH, but yeah... He's written the worst episodes of this season for sure.
The very end was awesome, especially with April slicing the heads off of her clones, but the rest left something to be desired.
Kurtzman was interesting, and I got a kick out of his Kraang collage (especially pilgrim Kraang lol), but it was just the tiniest breadcrumb of information about April, and it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
I guess they're gonna eventually have her end up with Donnie and they want to set that up, but she isn't so much of a "mutant" as she is half Kraang. Still a freak though lol.

I enjoyed this episode, while not as much as last weeks this one did have many great moments.
Did it follow the same formula that most episodes involving the Kraang? Yes, to a certain degree but with the plot revolving around April this week I was heavily interested in what they were going to reveal about her.
The episode started off really fun but did start to drag towards the end, otherwise it was more entertaining then some of you are giving it. Some of you are just finely nitpicking it.

You forgot to say, "she's a super freak. Super freak. She's super freaky", didn't you? lol Seriously though, I agree with the whole bread crumb analogy. I think that was the only negative thing I could think of pertaining to this ep. You guys mention Auman writing this one and not liking the style? Hmm, I guess the possibility of him leaving to work on Angry Birds would solve a bunch of problems then? Granted, we don't know who's leaving yet, but that other show seems like it'd be more up his alley doesn't it? Wanna say he tries a little too hard to be funny. I loved his contributions to Avengers btw. Those Ultron eps were among my favs. When it comes to Turtles, I liked this one and Mutation Sitch. I see he had something to do with Mikey Gets Shellacne as well? Story editing, I think.
Long as they keep this puppy going, I'm good. As for Mikey's welcome to the family thing, I guess I saw it as a way in which he attempted to make April feel better about her situation and less excluded. Granted, he probably could have phrased it better! Liked the bit where he was messing with the droids and April Derp. I was probably the only one besides my bh who found it funny but yeah. Good stuff. He sort of reminds me of Spidy during a fight. Pete is usually scared to death so he results to quipping in order to deal with stress, similar to Mikey in a way. Although Spider-Man is the master of quips during a battle. Mikey's need work! haha He is trying, though. Gotta give him that.

I really liked this episode. Sure, it wasn't as good as last week's, but at least we know that April's part Kraang. I kind of thought she'd be part Neutrino, but there could be a way that they could still have her be that. Sad to hear about her mom being experimented on though. I wonder if she's still alive, or if she died as a result of all of that after April was born and after the family photo? I think it would be cool if she showed up again. Kurtzman was a good character, and I hope we see more of him later on. April Derp was freaky, but I'm glad that she's not around anymore and that she won't be showing up again. Also, I really liked how April didn't want to be a damsel in distress and wanted to start fighting, but the Turtles had a point in that it takes time to be able to get as skilled as they have been. Still, she was definitely reckless in this one, and I hope we see more with her in the future.
Mikey's comment wasn't insensitive to me, but I think he could have worded it better. Overall, not a bad ep, and I definitely can't wait for next week's for sure.

I think I'm with the people who think Kurtzman could be a Kraang. After all he said he started investigating the missing scientists the previous year and yet he has nearly a life times worth of information and such in his apartment
My guess the cover story was so the Turtles could trust his if he revealed that he was a Kraang from the get go the Turtles wouldn't have been able to trust him as easily as they did.

Then when they walked in he was like. "The Kraang...How did they find me?" (HMMM...)

Hehe, "welcome to the family."
Also, due to the infamous Spider-man "clone saga" of the 1990s, whenever clones start arguing over who is "real," I just can't help but think one day writers might try to sell the audience on the twist that the heroes chose the wrong candidate way back when.

Pretty good episode action-wise. I really liked it. But at the same time I find it slightly disappointing because the whole mystery behind April thing was built up for so long and ended up being a somewhat predictable situation. Even so, I'm sure it will make for many great stories in the future. There's definitely more to Kurtzman, interested to see where that will go... Just a bit bummed figuring that next weeks episode prolly won't even have April in it, I'd like to see her struggling to deal with this news up front, rather than later.

I don't know what to think about this episode, but I don't like it. I thought it was...creepy? Maybe? April's almost lobotomy was uncomfortable to watch. And April derp was gross. And April herself was annoying. And April's origin revelation was...meh. Anticlimactic.
I always found Foot episodes more interesting than the Kraang ones and this episode proves why. While the Foot have so many aspects of their story to explore (Shredder in Japan, Dogpound now Rahzar, new robotic foot, Karai not knowing her origin) the Kraang are still just trying to mutate the earth. Nothing has changed and as a result all of the episodes are formulaic. It's always find out Kraang's secret plan, find their hideout, fight the Kraang, fight some silent and large mutant, and then barely escape. The Kraang Conspiracy is the Alien Agenda and Operation: Breakout, minus Karai and Kirby.
Few other things:
I don't trust Kurtzman. And his business card was super weird.
Did the Kraang guns ever hit anyone? Like seriously. Kraang have crappy aim.
So how did TCRI magically rebuild itself in the course of a few episodes?
I still wish Kraang prime was female.
Mikey's tofu comment totally reminded me of Beast Boy.
I used to love Donnie's crush on April season 1. I thought it was adorable and added dimension to his character. Now I think I'm over it.
Why did the Kraang find the need to change April's headband?
So...no mention of Kirby bat? In an episode completely devoted to April?
Not a horrible episode. I think this is my least favorite of the season, though.

This episode seems much more strange, I like Kurtzman and his research on the kraang. April's origin was nicely done and I thought that Kirby looked goofy in a good way with his afro  The clone April scene was a bit disturbing, what with the turning into goo. This episode as I said feels strange, like a science fiction noir (if there is such a thing) or a proper Matrix-ex movie. Overall good episode.

I thought that this episode was decent, but I would rate it only a little better than the Squirrelanoids. After such a buildup of April being so special, I had hoped there would be a better reason. There was also way too much plot armor in this episode. If there were that many clones of April, why didn't they put up a much better fight? They just kept saying "I'm the real April!" That is all the Kraang can do? The threat level of the Kraang seems to be nearing the 80s version and that is something else that doesn't need to happen.
They can't even shoot an old man so they definitely can't shoot a ninja. Does anyone even expect any of the characters to be shot? There must be a rule somewhere that when there are multiple shots in a cartoon, nothing other than an inanimate object can be hit. I didn't even feel worried when April was kidnapped. On the final episodes of Season 1, it seemed epic and April seemed like she was in true danger. On this episode, is just felt like a routine story just because they wanted it. And now April can brain blast? On a show that is supposed to be full of mutants, I want to see more normal human main characters. I hope that Kurtzman doesn't get mutated too.

Yeah the Donnie April crush is getting old. But I don't think it's going anywhere, so I'm not going to complain. I'm just glad April is interacting with the other turtles, and was so glad raph went to rescue her. If Donnie had to throw in a "I was going to do that" I don't mind, at this point it would be out of character if he didn't. And Aprils comment to raph, I at first was upset about "oh great rescued by raph" but she continued "I'll never live this down" and I understood it was just her not wanting to be rescued and with Raphael personality and telling her she's not ready, he would give her the most crap about it.

Some thoughts on the episode and what other people have said about it.
To be honest, thinking about it more now, I kind of feel bad for April Derp. She didn't really seem like she was trying to hurt anyone (she was just hugging them, if I remember correctly) and the fact that she was a reject that was probably going to be disposed of by the Kraang anyway just makes it more sad. Anyone else think we're gonna somehow see her again? How did she manage to get her own render and bio on that Nick website if she was going to be a one time character?
I think the Kraang plots would be more interesting if them and the Foot teamed up even more. They have an alliance, sure, but I think it would be a lot cooler if they teamed up directly, having a lair together, etc...would be even cooler if they recruited all the "stray mutants" (Snakeweed, Spider Bytez, Cockroach, Squirrelanoids, etc.) After all, they all hate the turtles, so it would be cool to have one big team of villains, with Shredder as the leader. Deadly ninjas + crazy mutants + alien technology = best villain team ever. I like solo villains too, but I don't consider any of these stray mutants solo villains since they basically disappear after their debut episode. If they're not gonna be doing anything most of the time, atleast have them working for the Foot/Kraang. They don't have to have major roles at all times, just something to let us know they're still around.
I really hated April in this episode. It's like she was annoyed that the turtles were saving her. I get that she wants her independence or whatever, but come on, she was about to get impaled by a needle while tied up...and was annoyed by the fact that Raph was saving her. Come on. I do like that Raph saved her, though, hasn't this been the first time she's been saved by someone else than Donnie (and/or all four of them)?

I sort of didn't care for this episode. It started off great, but it ended up dragging a bit in the Kraang segments. Plus as others have stated, April's origin ends up feeling a bit anti-climatic and even cliche.
For one thing, if they were waiting for a particular strand of DNA, why not bio-engineer it instead of waiting thousands of years?
Secondly, the part-Kraang bit was the cliche part. I don't like "part-alien' copout plot points, even I could have come up with something better. For instance, they could have said that she had the 'right' DNA strand which happens to have a genetic sequence that allows the mutagen to be more stable when combined with it. Due to this April cannot be mutated, and it also allows her to detect Kraang due to this extraordinary ability (it won't react to the mutagen or Dimension X's oddball physics, and detecting Kraang might be a side effect.) And the Kraang, if they capture her, would take her apart cell by cell for this stabilizing purpose.
Other then that, I like the Kraang, but they should be doing stuff with the Foot at this point. Kraang-only stuff is good in small batches, but it's easy to become boring and predictable since the Kraang as a whole have no personal goals other then terraforming. They are better done together with the Foot, since even though their have their own ulterior motives, the Foot forces a more varied use of their technology and 'personality."

There ya go buddy. So Jman, do you have a least fav episode so far? I wasn't here during s1. Just curious. And ya know you were right about the Kraang/stormtrooper aim comparison. Love the SW reference there too.
So does anyone have thoughts on where mommy dearest might reside or what could have happened to her? I think we're being lead to believe mom is still alive. Meh, or maybe it's just me. I just didn't get the sense that she was dead dead deadski. And there have been several who have come up with the notion that Kirtzmen is an utrom. Gotta say, love the idea! I'd like to see an Utrom/Kraang war.
I agree with Donatello19 and Metalwolf. Wishing the Foot had appeared. I miss Karai, Baxter, Fishface, and Rahzar. Does anyone remember that one dromer who made the whole 80's Megatron and legion of various Decepticon characters comparison? Shredder should invite all these crazy mutant houseguests to stay with him and really heat things up. I know Donatello19 and Metalwolf stated something very similar, and that I'd love to see. Why not? Casey is with the team now as of last week's ep. The odds would be better for our heroes. Let's just hope Nick airs them in order from now on. Ya hear that, Nick? i dont know, i kinda disagree. yeah the part alien is cliche, but i like how they brought in her mother. ratehr than just waiting for the dna, they altered her mother so that they could get the dna from her daughter. i think that was completely unexpected and a nice little twist. i could even see them delving more into this, explaining what happened with her mother, why they chose her, etc.

This episode was....weird.
The episode was a strange mix of April trying to fight on par with the turtles, only to get completely trapped, and somehow use telekinesis to destroy the Kraang androids. And then this whole weird thing with Kurtzman, who's magically tracked them for months, And taken pictures, And discovered countless artifacts proving the existence of the Utroms. How he did this is beyond me, yet the kids are so quick to trust him and take and his Illuminati business card - Who the heck is he?
It would have been nice if Kurtzman could have had some little pop-up appearances previously, so we could have an idea that someone was actually tracking them for this Long. And then TCRI is completely rebuilt, and the kids didn't know of Anything in the course of their many trips to the surface. You would think that there would have at least been something on the news...
((Hey Jester, do you happen to recall a certain Archie character that started out as a double agent...? *Plays Jeopardy theme* ))
I think just the fact that everything is so, "Oh, they did this! And this happened! And Nobody had any idea! Oh well...!". This was way too rushed. They could have fleshed this out more and made it a two-parter.

Yes, please. I'd get behind that. I at least hope it's possible that utroms could be introduced in this show. But this time, I hope they'd put up a fight. How are they in the comics? Are they a pacifistic species? Maybe they could give April and the turtles the edge they need. The turtles are out ma uh out mutanted and outgunned. Yeah there we go. Yay for Casey and all, but if our boys are indeed at war like Splinter said in the very beginning, they need more allies. Or else they're gonna be hurtin for certain.

From what I remember, the Utroms were pretty much peaceful in the comics and 03 series (minus Chrell). But I'm no expert on them so I'm sure someone else can give more details. Utroms being rivals to the Kraang would be cool to see in this show.

Hmm, what to say about this ep? First off, unlike most, I loved it. I never felt as grossed out by April Derp as most seem to have been, mostly, I thought that part was hilarious, with the reject holding Mikey up-side-down for a "hug". Or the clones all trying to claim they were the real April, and her getting shoved to the back of the pack until she remembered her tessen. Why didn't the Kraang take it from her, exactly? Her powers seem to be maturing, and I thought that was pretty cool, even though it might make her a little "Mary Sue"-ish.
Kurtzman was cool, he really felt like a conspiracy theorist obsessed with the Kraang, and that cheesy Back to the Future line was epic! (They found me- I don't know how, but they found me..." Yeah, okay, Dr. Brown....) I like him, and I hope he shows up again soon. It could be interesting for the Turtles to have a human ally who can investigate the Kraang during the day or get into places they can't. Actually, he sort of reminded me of Nobody from 4Kids, in his police detective guise.
While the ending was a bit predictable, I was sort of expecting something like that, since it's clear that she's not normal from the Dimension X water spill, her psychic abilities, and how her mother has been absent all this time. Was sort of hoping she'd be part Neutrino, but I'm satisfied that at least they've finally explained why the Kraang need her. And that evil clone- that was just creepy.

If anything, Kurtzman reminds us that the Kraang were around up to no good in the neighborhood long before the Turtles took that first trip to the surface. Hell, Splinter's origin already had him bump into them when he was human, 15 years ago. It kinda makes sense that SOMEONE was on the case doing something about it.

Only about 7 minutes in myself, but the action seems tight, but I must say that the Kraang are about as good a shot as Imperial Storm Troopers.
I was thinking the same thing. Total use of the Stormtrooper Effect with the Kraang in this show. :tlol:

Why can't human just be plain freakin' humans in TMNT? Is that too much to ask?
I think 4Kids would handle this plot better than Ciro's crew. We had hints of things to come and a sense of continuity flow from one episode to the next. Leatherhead appeared through the cloud of smole four episodes early. Two episodes before Zog was shown droping himself into the sewers only to reppear and pick yp on it a full 12 episodes later. The whole mystery of the utroms shown in the form of the new element The Gurdians. If Kurtzman was monitoring we could have seen a shadow of him a couple of times just enough for kids to pick up on it and get our interest. If gone about like what was done with Carter in the '87 cartoon stating he had been showing from a distance foe weeks and it could be weeks between seasons but episode 9? Am I nitpicking about Nick's not so quality job of weaving plots episodes before its touched on and continuity or is it justified?:trazz:

Probably my least favorite of the season so far, was it just me or did every one seem a tad bit emotional
I think I defiantly prefer April of the 2003 series compared to here, I thought she did a lot and was one of the few human friends the turtles had. Hey, Donnie x April fans should happy, they might have a chance with that pairing after all :o
Over all, the episode to me was all over the place and again the characters seemed off. Again, that's just me so :D
That was a very nice episode. At first, I was a bit worried as I don't like the Kraang as much, but this episode was really a rollercoaster ride. I also liked how the Kraang were shown as more serious and evil here (wanted to harvest DNA their way because it's more entertaining)
Kurtzman was a nice character, I enjoyed his interactions with the turtles and it's good to know they have a new ally.
The scene with the fake April in the sealed chamber was very well done, definitely did not see that coming. April's insistence at coming along surprised me a little initially but I think it worked out well in the end. Nice twist to let Raphael be the one to try to rescue her, and April's powers/abilities are very interesting.
I just loved the elevator scene, moments like that really add so much to the show. And to see each of the turtles' reactions (Mikey especially) was funny.

The city...? I'm surprised the whole country isn't involved. You would think after the Technodrome's appearance the National Guard would have been going through the city.
I know the there's a budget on the episodes, but still it's not like New York is it's own universe.

Well I found a lot to like about the episode, it did feel like a retread in some ways but I understand the financial and resource restrictions shows like TMNT have so it's going to happen once in a while, you won't get any flac from me. I find stuff to enjoy about every episode.
I really liked the conspiracy theory angle and all the "kraang have been meddling for hundreds of years" details. Liked Jack, hope we see more of him. Really loved the action scenes, especially in the Apartment.
I can't put my finger on exactly what it is but the way the turtles moved in this episode looked VERY fluid and dynamic, I feel like you guys are improving on the way the characters are animated with each episode, it's really breathtaking to see in motion to be honest.
And Ciro how can you say you shouldn't be here? You are a welcome guest here man! Some detractors will be vocal but don't let that scare you off cause surely you know they are the minority.

Yes, and very disappointed it didn't happen!
I mean Casey doesn't even have super powers and he holds out fights pretty well...
Which is really hard for me to believe.
I'll take April being a mutant over a teenager being able to take down 3 street thugs and a ninja turtle any day.
Also anyone noticed poor frozen Timothy in the bg at the end?
Yeah I did, I really feel for the idiot and wonder when they will get back to trying to find a cure.
I think an entire storyline will come from it though and Donatello will offer up the cure and perhaps Xaver will ask Donatello to turn him back to a human.

I also had the same problem with that episode as well. April was a better fighter then him in the episode with mutagen man. But he is a lot better then her a couple of episodes later and being able to hold his own against Raph of all "people"(Turtles). I mean at least April has Master Splinter training her and for months now at that, but were did Casey's skills come from all of sudden.

In the Mirage comics April isn't exactly human either. She's a drawing come to life thanks to an alien/magical crystal attached to a pencil.

I am still a little fuzzy on the April thing- maybe you guys can help.
Over all the thousands of years and gazillions of humans, why and how did the Kraang single out April's mom? If April is telekinetic, I am assuming this is from her alien DNA, so does that mean all the Kraang have these powers too (scary thought)?
And, I understand the Kraang need April's DNA to stabilize the mutagen, but what does stabilize mean? Make mutants similar to the turtles aka non- psychotic mutants?
I wonder if April being half whatever she is means she can safely breathe the air in dimension X.....?

Well if the Krang water didn't effect her, I would be surprised if April couldn't breath in dimension X.

Or that would be what she is in general. They have pointed out that the Kraang have been experimenting with humans for centuries. So maybe there have been other people like April who are half human/half Alien mutants but April is the only one the Kraang know of.

I'm still holding onto hope that April is a neutrino.
The only explanation that was given so far to April's psychic powers was because she wasn't "entirely human", and no Kraang so far in the series has shown any form of telekinetic or psychic ability to confirm it, so as of now, April having Kraang DNA wouldn't explain her abilities.
drgon78
02-10-2014, 03:14 PM
The Krang have telepathic ability so that counts as psychic abilities. But I agree I wish she was half neutrino but we don't know if they exist in this version of the show. But it was Donnie that said she was part krang, he might have misinterpreted the information.
BubblyShell22
02-10-2014, 03:15 PM
Yes, that's very true, and it could be a possibility that she's part Neutrino. I'm curious to know more about her mom and whether her mom is still alive or if she was captured by the Kraang and killed? It would be cool if she was still alive and reunited with April later down the line.

I really was not a fan of this episode. I found myself being bored and thinking "What am I watching?". I would even go as far as saying, in my opinion, that it was the worst episode of the new series. The April derp was very stupid...they could have made a better looking reject. April's origin was finally revealed but the episode was so bad that I did not even care at that point. The previews for next week's episode looked pretty dumb too...so maybe I spoke too soon about this being the worst episode? Fingers crossed because I truly have enjoyed this series up to this point.

Hey maybe her mom is Mona Lisa. I mean it would sort of be appropriate, it would give a new origin to a one shot female mutant character from the OT series. And in further homage Pat Musick the voice of Mona Lisa is the mother of Mae Whitman the voice of April.

Well, it doesn't surprise me. I mean I said it just recently, with this creative staff, you never know what they will put out of left field next. I mean, out of all the incrainations of April over the past 30 years, this is when they decide to go in this left field direction?
I can guanteee you, when animation histories look over the history of TMNT, let's in the next 25 years (if it's still around), the're going to look over all the different incranations of April in TMNT, and be like "WHAT THE ****!? WERE THESE WRITERS THINKING?" when they get to this one.
I mean seriously? I look over these forums, and I see a lot of Old and New fans, asking the same thing "WTF?! did I just see and hear about April?" Because they (long time older fans) know, that never once in the past 30 years of TMNT, was it ever releveled that April was half Mutant-Alien, never once. Sure she mutanted into a cat, bug, fish woman in the 80s-90s series, temporay into a female turtle in the Archie Comics, and an opening dream seqeance in the IDW Micro-Series, and a yig-yang like monster in the 2003-2009 series (2009 BTTS Season), but out of all that, never once was it relevled that she was half mutant-Alien, never once. Which again goes back to pervious post on this forum.
But like I said at the start of this, I'm not really surprised at all by this.
And again this proves one thing, don't put anything past this writing/creative staff, but you never know what will come next (Irma=Mona Lisa?) You never know.

So, what? This isn't the first time April's been given a strange origin. In the mirage comics she was literally a living drawing, created thanks to the same type of crystal Kirby from the Donatello micro issue had.

Because Donnie said she was half human/ half Kraang. So technically, she's not really all human, thus making her a mutant.

Haha, I was just thinking the same thing.
Give that man a cookie! :D
Considering the number of 'red shirt' humans we've had on this show, he could be an upcoming mutant-to-be. Or... it could be an inverse of Mortu and the Utroms; one good Kraang emerging from a Civilization of evil. Heck, he could be a real Splinter-Cell type like Bishop that we have no clue about...
Still, a little bit of sneak peeks at someone watching, even if it was just little split-second hints at the ends of the episodes... could have brought a little more intrigue to Kurtzman's introduction. I'm curious what else he's involved in, after seeing the Illuminati logo on his card....

I looked at his card again last night, says he investigates the supernatural, occult, and I believe alien stuff (I'm paraphrasing) interesting character. If you guys ever get a chance, watch a series called Kolchak the Night Stalker. It was a short series in the 70's and you can really see Kurtzman is inspired by the main character. So, what? This isn't the first time April's been given a strange origin. In the mirage comics she was literally a living drawing, created thanks to the same type of crystal Kirby from the Donatello micro issue had.

This episode was good as was the previous one "The Good, The Bad, and Casey Jones" because they advanced the characters of April (her telekinesis and telepathic powers), Casey (giving Raph a new friend to bond with after the Slash episode), and gave a deeper backstory with the Kraang and human history via Kurtzman's information. This type of depth and complexity was desperately needed in this series after the past episodes in this season appeared to be thinly-veiled to introduce more mutants (mutagen spread all over the city) or a "one-upping" of an already perilous situation (the Foot-bots being able to learn every move [replacing the human Foot Soldiers], and Dogpound transforming into a tougher version of himself in Rahzar), because it's advancing the entire set of characters and the comprehension of the still vague 2012 universe.
I wanna be excited again for this show, but I've been disappointed before with the arc amnesia of the show (April behaving oblivious again to the danger she was under when she casually re-entered school after "The Mutation Situation", dropping the "Karai is my daughter" bombshell in "Follow the Leader" with no developments even after Karai appeared in "Target: April O' Neil", Foot-bots that can seemingly learn everything in "Target: April O' Neil" yet the Turtles can still defeat them... even Casey Jones can :ohwell:, and Mikey's lack of learning after playing with the mutagen in "Mikey Gets Shellacne" despite seeing Timothy's horrifying mutation in "The Pulverizer Returns!").
This episode actually surprisingly developed April because we knew more about her in this one episode than throughout the entire previous episodes of this season. It was nice to see April's stubborn/spunky trait used to separate herself from the April clones, to underline that her personality is what makes her special rather than just her DNA and physical composition. I got a hilarious kick out of April Derp; just the fact that the mutant was able to get a whole series of reactions from the Turtles (aggression to fight whatever mutant it was, anxious seeing the big hand come out, off-guard seeing April Derp's attached head, and horror seeing the entirety of April Derp) within seconds was priceless, in addition to being threatening (knocking off the Kraang) and bizarrely affectionate (hugging Mikey). It was a little unbelievable ;) that Donnie could be so willing to fight those April clones knowing how infatuated he was with her. I was sooo desperately hoping for Raph or Mikey to crack a joke about how they stumbled into one of Donnie's fantasies. Oh well... One thing that intrigued me was how the show was able to get away with slashing and, essentially killing, these April clones if they are exactly just that. Right...? ;)
One significant disappointment was the revelation that Nick April was a hybrid human/alien, and is therefore a mutant. :ohwell: I think it completely deflates the whole "normal" human aspect of the TMNT premise that April brought, as if being a human isn't helpful or advantageous in anyway to the Turtles. It somewhat parallels to the twist in 2K3 when the Shredder was discovered to be Ch'rell and how the "human aspect" of the character was thrown aside, as if it was insignificant. Even though the ending reveal of Nick April being a mutant was somewhat expected, I guess I was kind of holding onto the hope that maybe something about her human DNA was special, through some infinitesimal odds of normal genetic recombination (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_recombination). With most of the allies being mutants/aliens now, it leaves Irma (barely made an appearance), Casey, and Kurtzman as the only humans now. I'm hoping they won't mutate them, but considering the track history of this show, won't surprise me if the show unfortunately does.
While I don't rank these last two episodes as high as "Follow The Leader", it thankfully brought a new perspective in seeing the characters (April and Casey) and the vague 2012 TMNT universe, and I have to give credit for that.

And as I pointed out (with the execpted orginal mairge April's orgin) every other April has never had a orgin like this, which is why many (some long-time) fans are on the fence about it. Because as I said before " Sure she mutanted into a cat, bug, fish woman in the 80s-90s series, temporay into a female turtle in the Archie Comics, and in an opening dream seqeance in the IDW Micro-Series, and a yig-yang like monster in the 2003-2009 series (2009 BTTS Season), but out of all that, never once was it relevled that she was half mutant-Alien, never once."
and to quote two other things I said in the last page "Well, it doesn't surprise me. I mean I said it just recently, with this creative staff, you never know what they will pull out of left field next.
WERE THESE WRITERS THINKING?" when they get to this one"
So yeah it may have been a good episode to some, but like you and Ihave pointed out, I think those say it best.

With me, April always symbolized the human connection or liaison between the Turtles and humanity (to "bridge the gap" between the whole "us versus them" theme that resonates in TMNT) and was the tantalizing symbolic icon of normalcy that the Turtles will never truly experience. With this revelation of Nick April being a mutant (being a part of the "mutant family" now and is a "mutant freak"), all of this symbolic meaning goes out the window now. :ohwell: But it will be interesting to see if the Nick staff can redefine April's role to something more substantial possibly... but I'm not holding my breath or anything...
It's funny that I saw The LEGO Movie on Saturday,
Because LEGO Movie pulled a daring turn near the end of the movie, and it was a move that caught most people off guard and had the potential of losing people. But that turned out great and made the movie even better.
Then Turtles pulls a similar bold, daring turn. Good thing I saw that movie otherwise I'd probably be jumping all over this, but I will definitely let it play out and see what comes, it could turn out to be great in the long term.

I do agree with you that April is the bridge between the Turtles and the rest of the world. However April is human in appearance and that is not going away so even though she is essentially one of the "freaks". I think April being a mutant is a good twist because although she looks human and can still do human things, she can now sympathize with the Turtles about how it feels to be different from everyone else. She's not alone in that, and for her, that's why she's lucky to have the Turtles as friends.

Superficially, yes. April will still look like a human and had human experiences, but psychologically she's more of an outsider than she ever thought she was, being a mutant, just like the Turtles. So her whole perspective is different now. It was formerly a human (April) trying to understand and relate to these "mutant freaks", but now it's "you were always one of the mutant freaks, April." It's an unique dynamic having both perspectives, but for me, April being a mutant will obscure the magnitude of her compassion and effort of her friendship toward the Turtles, because now she's part of the "mutant family" rather than a normal human who extended herself in trying to know others different from her. Anyways, we'll see if it can be executed effectively because incorporating these mental powers/dreaming/supernatural twists can be a dicey risk in the storywriting as to whether it's satisfying or not for the audience; plus, let's not forget April's character is already skirting dangerously close to "Mary Sue" territory.

You know, I can understand and accept that Nickelodeon's teenage mutant ninja turtles cartoon series that has been currently running since 2012, I can understand and accept that this is just a different incarnation and take on the turtles franchise. I mean if you watch Turtles Forever, you get an understanding that this series is based in a different world/dimension then that of the original ninja turtles, the 87 to 96 ninja turtles, the 2K3 ninja turtles, and even the Archie comics, image comics, IDW comics, and so on, you can pretty much except that this is the kind of world that these ninja turtles and their allies and enemies live in. Basically a world, where the main human allies are not adults, but are teenagers going to high school.
So yeah, I can understand and accept that this incarnation is based in an alternate dimension and world different from those that I mentioned.
But even still, out of all those different incarnations that I just talked about, with the exception of the very beginning, every other April O'Neil that has appeared in any other incarnation of the ninja turtles, including the short-lived ova Anime's, never once was her background/origin revealed to be that of half alien/half human, thus making her a mutant. Never once was that even considered. But yet when it comes to Nickelodeon's version/take on April O'Neil, that rulebook gets tossed out the window.
And what's surprising about all this, is you have a decent amount of fans, old and new, that watch the series, are on the fence about the series, and just plain don't like it, and yet you have them all asking the question as of this past Sunday, "What is the point in making April a mutant?" I mean seriously, fans want to know. Heck, I keep up with the series either by my 10-year-old nephew talking about it, or reading and watching what other people have to say about it, and perhaps catching a glimpse here and there, but even I want to know what is the point?
I mean in previous incarnations, I can understand if she was mutated for one episode, I could accept that and I did. I mean I've seen episodes where she's been mutated into a cat, a fish woman, and insect Queen. And even though it took to the final season of the 2003 incarnation, I even saw her transform/mutate into a giant Ying-yang monster. Even in the Archie comics, for one of the 48 page special issues, she was temporarily mutated into a turtle. She even had a opening dream sequence in issue seven of the IDW micro-series of her being a mutant turtle.
So I, along with several other fans can understand that and except that, but here what really is the point? I mean what to perfect human DNA so the Krang can perfect their mutagens in their dimension and on earth. Is that why? That still does not make a lot of sense. I mean you spend portions of the first season and some portions of the second season, including this past Sunday to reveal the reason why the Krang have been after April this whole time. And the reason is to perfect their mutagen in their dimension and on earth. Again what's the real point?
And on top of all that, you have them perfect their mutagen through April's human DNA so they can make April clones? Again that doesn't make sense. I mean you have to have a legit reason for something this game changing to really mean something, to really have a purpose. And you know what, the official website that does reviews of each episode of the new series, I think said it best at the end of its review for this past Sunday's episode.
And that is, with something this game changing and revealing, you don't just throw it in there as a filler episode, you do what you did with the episode that came before it and even the episode they came before that, and that is you hype/build it up so that it really means something. Because in the end, if you don't build something like this up and you just throw it in as another filler episode, then it really isn't going to mean anything or have any real significance in the grand scheme of things when it comes to this series.
If anything you should have made this revelation of April basically being a mutant, you should have made it a two, maybe three part story that you could have split/span for three Sundays in a row and even then air it as a 66 min. prime time special. Because with something like this becoming a game changer in the series, you don't just throw it in as filler.
Then here's another question. Is having April being revealed as a mutant, is this just Nickelodeon's way of trying to ship an April O'Neil/Donatello relationship. Because apparently that's what may seem like they're trying to do in the eyes of some. I think they even said that throughout this episode from this past Sunday, that's she wanted Donatello's help more than she wanted Leonardo's and Raphael's. So if her being revealed as an overall mutant with a human appearance is just to try to ship her with Donatello, then this pretty much confirms what I had said before in a video and a revised typed up version of that video, and that is with this creative/writing staff headed by Ciro, that they are unpredictable and you cannot put anything past them.
Which is why I still question of whether or not that their going to take Irma and turn her into Mona Lisa through mutation. Because with this staff writing the show and coming up with the ideas that their coming up with, one never really knows. And more so, you could end up having an April/Donatello relationship, which I'm sure a lot of fans wouldn't mind, because they basically had been building up to it, even with her kissing him on the cheek about a few weeks ago, so it wouldn't surprise me if they finalize this relationship as Canon in this incarnation of the ninja turtles.
But again, this all points back to the question of what was the real point behind the revelation that April O'Neil in this incarnation is an overall mutant. So if I'm the creative staff on this show, I think I have a lot of explaining to do and hopefully it'll be answers they'll be straight and truthful, and not being given to just throw fans completely off course.
And that is all I'm going to say.

I don't see April as a mutant. I know they call her a half human half alien mutant. In this series a mutant is a person or creature who has come in contact with Mutagen and is transformed into something else.
And from what we know is that her mother had been experimented on sometime before April was born, so the changes to her DNA may have occurred before she was conceived or when she was in utero.
The only reason they are calling her a mutant is because at this point there is nothing else to call her. And more is likely to be revealed as Donnie and April, as well as the other Turtles and Casey look further into this. And hopefully Kurtzman would be able to shed more light on it as well. Particularly if it turns out Kurtzman is an Utrom.
It would be a good homage to Secret of the Ooze if it did turn out he wasn't really human. Because in early production scripts of SotO Dr. Perry was supposes to have a scene at the end where he opens his shirt and reveals that he's really an utrom.
And that's a scene I can see slipping at the end of an episode the next time Kurtzman appears.

Ciro, if you're still lurking and reading, I just wanted to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for the Kurtzman character. From one fellow longtime Kolchak geek to another, I lovingly salute you sir. :)
Of many distinct memories growing up as a kid in the late 80's/early 90's, one of my most cherished aside from my blossoming obsession with horror films and all things TMNT was staying up past my bedtime to catch syndicated re-runs of Kolchak: The Night Stalker on WGN. Kolchak became a true unsung hero to me, in that he always saved mankind from unspeakable terrors and things that went bump in the night, with virtually no reward or credit for his valiant efforts.
To think back in the day that I'd eventually see the equivalent of Carl Kolchak team up with the TMNT in ANY capacity is something I never, EVER would have even considered seeing come to fruition. You guys are not only making what I consider to be the finest iteration of the franchise to date, you're essentially fulfilling obscure and unfathomable geek dreams come true, and again, I cannot express enough how grateful I am for that.
Also, let me just say that I'm extremely impressed at all the Alien love, nods to things like Elm Street, Re-Animator, Evil Dead and Lucio Fulci (Suburbs of the Undead!), as well as so many other horror and sci-fi favorites and just how brilliantly you guys infuse all these fun little bits into this wonderful new TMNT world. It's sincerely endearing to me.
Don't let the haters and whiners get to you. This new series is witty, intense, inventive, and so much fun to watch. As much as I loved the original toon growing up and enjoyed the Fox/4Kids series in its own way, I didn't enjoy either back then as much as I'm enjoying this series right now. I've viewed every episode repeatedly with continued enthusiasm and always cherish catching all the easter eggs, winks and homages put into them. NickTurtles has got to be the best example I've ever seen of something paying perfect tribute to its predecessors while excitedly and energetically guaranteeing a bright future for the franchise thanks to paving its own way with such dedicated passion and creativity.
I'm a lurker at heart more than a poster, but I just want you to know that there are definitely fans out there that truly GET what you guys are doing and loving every single solitary moment of it. Right now, NickTurtles is my favorite thing on TV and has been since it began airing. I honestly don't see that changing, either.
Keep up the truly great work, and I will continue sitting down with every episode with the biggest smile ever plastered across my face. You guys are eternally AWESOME!!! :tgrin::tgrin::tgrin::tgrin::tgrin:
If you guys ever get a chance, watch a series called Kolchak the Night Stalker. It was a short series in the 70's and you can really see Kurtzman is inspired by the main character. I loved the series as a kid.
You tell 'em good sir! A sincere cyber high-five from me to you! Kolchak nerds UNITE! :D

she is not a mutant in the same sense as the turtles. since her mother was experiemented on, her dna is altered, or mutated. i still view her as human, just with a mutated gene. she still looks human, acts human, hangs around humans. like kraang prime said, april is just in touch with the world in a certain way.
this is almost comparable to doctor falco, before he became rat king. when he extracted rockwells mutated dna, and put it in him, he was not a mutant, just used mutated dna, giving him special abilities. thats how i see her. like no more mutant or alien then psychic falco.
and i understand peoples upset with changing an origin of an important character. but, although you may not like it, accept it for what it is. its something new. this series has shown you can change some pretty significant things while still having it be great tmnt. april having mutated genes is something they liked and tried. some people dont mind it, some do. atleast its something new and not the same old thing over and over again.
while im not a fan of her having psychic abilities, im all for the mutated genes. because, as people have stated before, april has always been a tie to the humans. but to me, that means shes out of place when dealing with foot, or aliens, or most of the tmnts villains. making her the key to the kraangs plot gets her involved. rather than her having to hide the turtles, they have to hide her. rather than her just being caught up in a fight, shes the cause of fights. rather than being a side character in a plot, shes important to most of them.
to me, unlike past incarnations, april is critical to this one. where as her involvement in the past could arguably be taken out for most, she has been thee focus of much this series plots. and all they did to make that was say her mother was experimented on, and she now has an extra sense or two.

When I showed my dad this episode he also reminded me that he looked like night stalker and I was like wow that is an interesting guest star. I was about to say the same thing to him before he said it, but he got to it first. We love watching movies and have a great fascination with knowing what other shows actors were on, it annoys my mom. So April could get her investigative curiousity from a Kolchak like character, cool.
This was a somewhat different episode, was not expecting it at all. The Derpy April made me laugh a bit. April being part Kraang is a pretty weird plot detail, so what she is like Blade or something, all the strengths and none of the weaknesses. Has all the Psychic abilities but able to coexist with humans not speaking in third person all the time plus not looking like a brain with tentacles. I sincerely hope she can get her father back, somehow. I am surprised losing him hasn't affected her grades, at least non that I have heard. Of course like any female seen on TV she is able to go on even with that extra burden put on her.
All this episode proved was that I need to buy more Aprils for the turtles to fight, now we need a derpy April (kidding;))

Where is April's mother now though? Is she still in captivity somewhere or in hiding?

There was a really interesting post on this thread a few pages back about a theory that mommy is actually Mona Lisa. I forget which dromer came up with it, but it would be kinda cool. They were saying that Pat Musick was Mae Whitman's mom in actuality and that she could reprise the role of ML from the OT. She'd make one heck of an ally if this came to pass.

Thanks for agreeing with me.
That probability makes way more sense then saying "Irma's going to be Mona Lisa". That would like like Vernon coming on and saying he's going to become Mondo Gecko.

Oh yeahVA that was you! No prob. I have no idea if it'll happen or not, but good thinking nonetheless. Oh lord, now you got me thinking of some goofy kid Vernon showing up in his Newsmangetup from Rhinoman doing the whole vigilante thing.
"Whaaat? I can take care of purple dragons just as easily as that Casey fellow because I'm Newsman! Aah! No please don't hurt me. My mother will cry!"

If Vernon does show up, I can see him as editor of April's school News Paper.

Well, we got Irma, so ya never know. High school newspaper editor would actually be a good fit for the kid. I can see him getting to know Kirtzmen and being fascinated with all the Kraang conspiracy stuff if he does show up.

Yeah, I could see Vernon as a news editor of the paper.
As for ML, that would be awesome if it was April's mom and if Pat was able to reprise the role, too.
Yeah, I could see Vernon as a news editor of the paper.
Don't be silly everyone, Vernon's already in the show.

She was kinda whiny, bitchy and pathetic in this episode.. :P I wish she show more kindness and compassion like other Aprils. What does derp even mean anyway? Is it some new-age hipster slang that I am not aware of?
Get with the time man, you sounded like an old geezer. ._.

I get what she was trying to do. She was trying to prove she could hold her own in battle and could be just as helpful in a fight as everyone else. But like the Turtles pointed out to her in the beginning, there is a huge gulf between several months of training and fifteen years of training. I don't even thing April can even call herself a genin yet.
WHAT!!! :o
Seriously? None of you guys ever thought Humanoid Kraang looked like Vernon? All the way down to the thin pointed nose, sturdy chin, single color black eyes, black hair style.
I started saying that as soon as I saw the pilot. I was like "Good Vernon Homage...lol."

Never seen it like that. :trazz:
But the real question will be: where the heck is the real Vernon? The one the Kraangs made an extensive copy of. :tgrin:

Locked in the TCRI basement, or he's the real leader of the kraang, and Krang prime is just a pawn.

Maybe that's the reason why the Kraang wanted to take April's DNA the hard way!!! Vernon is getting his revenge for the alternate universe April always trying to get him killed!!! What a plot twist!!! :D Seriously though it was a good catch!!!
I liked that the plot is going in new territory with April being a clone. I liked the new character. Not a fan that basically the Kraang had all of last season and things are back to the status quo, hell even the OT changed the status quo of the villains more often. An while I liked that at least they're trying something new with the clone Aprils, I don't particularly like the route they're going through.
