View Full Version : Unpredictable mutagen or improper way of being mutated?

Most (if not all) the mutations we have seen on this show seem to have been accidental. Now, I know the mutagen is unpredictable and all...with some mutants turning out as intelligent, talking creatures, such as the turtles, Snakeweed, Fishface and so on, and others becoming mindless beasts that couldn't even speak..now you may say of course people like Snakeweed and Fishface will be able to talk...they were human before mutation. Yeah, well, so was Kirby...and just look how he turned out! So my question is, is there a "proper way" to mutate someone (like, can the Kraang mutate someone/something to their needs and make it how they want) or is the mutagen just that unpredictable, and we can't tell because most mutations have been accidental? Obviously no ones going to have a direct answer, as we don't know for sure, but what do you guys think about this?
If I remember (or as much as I want to remember), In Kraang Conspiracy, I think they stated that April's DNA was the link to perfecting the mutagen by her having both Human & Kraang DNA within her, she was the link to bridge the mutagen by her having DNA life forms.
So until we see the first aftermath, I'd say that's the best way to take it.

I guess the key lies in April's DNA. They probably could mutate things exactly the way they want in our dimension once they obtain that. Since they want to teraform earth and mutate the human race, they'd probably desire to use the mutants as some sort of slave labor force. They want intelligent slaves, I imagine. Not mindless beasts. At least I'm thinking that's what they'd prefer since they plan on mutating humanity. Not sure what else they'd use them for. Do the Kraang prefer mutant meat as a diet? lolAnywho, it'd be a pain in the butt to waste time calming a bunch of monsters down, restraining them, breaking up skirmishes and all that. I'm sure things would be peachy for them once they got what they needed from April. I agree with jth. It's all in the DNA. I'm sure there's a proper way to mutate people and animals, but the mutagen has ADD without that DNA strand to bridge the gap.

^^^ I think they want to get rid of humans, not mutate them. It looks like the mutagen also is able to do stuff with inorganic and/or nonliving elements, which is how it ended up fusing the tech stuff to Roach Terminator and likely will with ICK (the icecream.) So they might be thinking about flooding places with mutagen and having the earth and atmosphere react and change chemically to the mutagen. And the Turtles are mutants, yet Dimension X's air is poisonous to them. I don't think any mutant slaves would survive.
The only way i could see if it was an improper or unpredictable mutagen reaction would be if someone was to attempt to replicate the exact conditions of a previous mutation seen, and see if the exact same mutation occurred again.
Like say, me using my favorite character, Rahzar and I as an example:
Say if I was there and I knew that Bradford got bitten by an Akita, and shortly after that got doused with mutagen. Now if I did the same thing to myself, say teased an Akita, got bit, then doused myself with mutagen, I know I would turn into a mutant Akita like thing. That's a given. However, since I'm a female, would I react differently? Maybe, maybe not. I might not get the big spikes on my body since I don't have much testosterone.
After that, the other thing is, he didn't get re-doused right away. It was a few months later. Since I don't know how long it's been in between dousings, I'd wait for two-three weeks just to make sure everything has 'settled' from it. Since i know that he took a full dunk, that's what I'll do too. if the mutagen is simply misused, more then likely I'll end up looking like ol' Razzy, except maybe a little bit more smaller and less 'masculine' in appearance.
But if the mutagen is unpredictable, then I could end up looking like the first possibility, to returning back to how I looked previously (human) to looking like a complete mess.
However I think the second possibility is unlikely as the mutagen seems to follow certain 'rules.' Anything that comes into contact with a second DNA source often ends up taking on characteristics of that source. I have yet to see any human that had a recent previous contact with an unmutated creature end up as a blob. And second mutations in this show (adding in the possibility of Rat King) often seem to look ghoulish. Rat King had a small dose of mutagen from a mutant's blood, Bradford had a big dose and he was already a mutant.
But it is an interesting question though. Shame we can't run any experiments to see if it was true :D

Yikes, who'd want to volunteer?! I wouldn't want to end up like Timothy. Yeah I suppose it'd make sense if the Kraang wanted to destroy humanity. Although I could have sworn Kraang Prime said something about mutating everyone in the last episode. Don't take my word for it since I've only seen it once and so much happened in that one. I'd love to see more of the science behind this incarnation of mutagen. It's fascinating stuff.

I remember something about them saying "Then we will destroy/get rid of the hideous humans" or something like that. I thought of the mutating the humans too, when they started talking but the way they said it I think they are hoping to do away with humanity. I can't remember 100%, but that is the impression they left me.
To be honest, I probably would be the person to volunteer. Just because it would bug me too much not to try it, and it's not like you couldn't still get a job if you did. (I saw a guy who had remade himself as a 'catman' through plastic surgery, complete with artificial fangs and whiskers. He has tiger stripes tattooed all over his body. He still was able to get employment, although he wasn't directly face to face with customers and did most of the company work over the computer and phone.) :P

haha! Well you're very brave, Metalwolf. I'd at least hope to have a lion form, but knowing me, some sloth would brush past me and I'd be reduced to sleeping all day and eating leaves.
"Nah, I don't feel like saving the city right now. Wake me up when everythings good." Yeah that'd be just my luck. lol

I would looking outside to a mutated city, and say "This looks like a job for Superman...".
And then proceed to hide.
