And so the onslaught of loose mutagen canisters continues!

Looks like the mutagen didn't just affect the squirrels in NYC. It looks like the stuff's going to climb the food chain from the bottom up, starting with the simpler 'critters' and eventually hitting some higher life forms.

Mushrooms can have a devastating effect if you're not careful. They can be poisonous or hallucinogenic. Some can kill you if you just touch it. Don't forget those fat pufferballs that throw spores in the air if you step on them.

Mushrooms grow from an underground network called mycelium, which can grow to HUGE Sizes (http://www.extremescience.com/biggest-living-thing.htm). I don't particularly wanna see a 1500 acre mushroom popping up through the sewer grates.

Give a mushroom a giant sewer system to grow in, some mutagen and an evil agenda, and you've got yourself a major problem. This thing could grow and overtake the city in a relatively short amount of time. With some hallucinogenic properties, it could easily incapacitate potential threats with illusions of their greatest fears or nightmarish visions. You don't know what's real or fantasy, and next thing you know, you go down the drain to oblivion. Or New Jersey...

Hope the weather's good where you are!

Stay Tuned!

I think that came to most of everybody's mind when the synopsis for this episode came out.

Though I wasn't expecting this episode to be as dark as Darkness Within, since what it got away with is hard to top for something like this show.

It looks like the animation was better in this ep than usual.

The animation and the jokes were the best of the episode to me.

Too bad we didn't get a preview of Metalhead Rewired at the end.

I can't remember, was Mikey really that scared of the Squirrelnoids back in their episode? I don't remember him being any more frightened by them than the other Turtles. Mikey's fear felt the most forced of all the others.

Nice reference to Super Mario Bros by Mikey, complete with 8-bit style graphics. I also like how the sewers are more realistically dark in this version. In the OT and to a lesser degree 4kids, the sewers always seemed to have false lights hidden behind the walls. I also feel that Nick seems to be making this show lately to scare younger kids more often, especially the last two episodes (I myself got a bit startled at times watching today's episode).

Wow it was Great, Intence and crazy episode, more intence than Slash and Destroy.

Fears
Leo's fear is losing his brothers and failing as a leader (We knew anyway)
Raph's fear is cockroaches (which we knew anyway)
Donny's fear is April hating him
Mikey's fear is the Squirrelanoids (I was surprised that was his fear)
April's fear is Bats
Casey's fear is Rats (which we knew anyway)

Moments
Leo was awsome
More Casey and being more part of the team
Donny and Casey don't seem to like each other and their rivalry over April has started, I hope it doesn't get too much.
It was cool seeing Leo and Splinter meditating together and glowing too and then again later on when Leo was fighting Fungus Humungous.
Mikey hugging Donny was cute
I don't get the dancing fungus bit, what was the point in it. It did look like a reference from the Disney movie Fantasia
I love the visual effects in this episode
I wonder if Casey bumped into Splinter before in the episode I Monster because he was seeing (his fear) a big rat with red eyes.

Funny moments
Mikey hugging and wiping his face with a rat.
Super Mikey brother's lol.
Mikey trying to calm Raph down and then later hugging him and Raph throws up thinking he was being hugged by a cockraoch and licking him.
Donnie seeing (his fear) 3 April's kissing Casey but were rats in Casey's fear.

Dark/Gutsy moments
Was pretty gutsy to use mushrooms/fungus to spray toxins all over them and make them hallucinate as we know what some type of mushrooms can do when eaten.
Raph trying to kill his brothers when his fear took over him .
Raph and Mikey Hallucinating and fighting each other
Raphs fear when Mikey's head falls off and all the cockroaches flew out of his body.
Did anyone think it looked like the fear wanted Leo to attempt Seppuku when Leo briefly given up and his sword appeared.

Good Episode, Loved getting to see more of Leo being a bad ass. Though I could have done without the weird interpretive mushroom dance, the overuse of anime speedlines, and the gross out shots courtesy of the squirrelanoids. Also, was Leo levitating when reflected that beam of sunlight ? 8 out of10

"Fungus." "Language. There's a lady present."

"Super Mikey Brothers." 1UP all round.

"I heard in the original Japanese version..." <--- That's gotta be a pass at the super Asian Ninja Robot Turtles version.

"That's a cartoon myth."

They got the Nutcracker into a kid's cartoon. I don't know how but they did it.

"Where's the love? It's right here between my arms."

Leo and Splinter having the heart to hearts. Wow. I am so much closer to liking Leo now.

Twerking 'shroom.

"BREATHE WITH MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!"

Mikey's fear was squirrelanoids. Not sure how I feel about that. Sure it was a traumatic experience but not more so than any of the other villains/creatures I'd say. But then again, I'm not inside Mikey's head.

This episode was pretty trippy in some parts. Haha. I thought it was a fun episide though. :D but the part where it showed Donnie's fear and it looked like April stabbed him, i almost freaked out. I was a bit surprised to see Mikey's fear was the Squirreloids, but after thinking back on that episode, it does make some sense. As funny as a world without pizza would've been, it admittedly would've clashed with the somewhat serious tone of this episode.

Flippin loved this episode!

Pros

Leo was freakin bad ass

More Leo / Splinter moments, I really adore this father son type relationship.

Casey bonding more with the the gang

Casey's fear, cracked me up so hard

Animation

Cons

Love triangle starting too soon, how much interactions has Casey had with April so far? I would have liked it to happen a couple of more episodes later, develop a friendship than lean more into romance with Donnie getting more and more jealous. I don't want a love triangle but it feels too fast now, though I do hope it doesn't take up too much time and ends fast.

Donnie's fear, I know it was for comedy and all but I was kind of hoping it wouldn't have been that LOL. Teen hormones above family eh? Well

Every thing else was pretty solid, though of all villains Mikey is afraid of that's it? Sorry Shredder, you can't seem to frighten Mikey more than those guy's can :P

Thing About the love triangle is that, while yeah Casey likes April, he isn't showing it yet. He's still seems like just a friend to her.

When Donnie and Casey had their little interaction, Donnie was upset that Casey lost April, and Casey just got into it cause Donnie was blaming him for it.

Honestly did not mind their argument. Donnie's fear is a different story.

To me this is the Fantasia of all TMNT episodes so far, since it seemingly involves imagination within imagination that provides some cool changes of view as each scene progresses. It almost feels like "was that really a dream?" Obviously this was an episodic plot (Though clearly takes place no earlier than the end of The Good, The Bad, and the Casey Jones), and to me the defining quote is what Splinter said to Leo "A good leader must risk losing his greatest allies". Great use of the dark sewers to provide the fear factor, and the different monsters/facial expressions provided by different characters' viewpoints makes this a nice episode to watch again even if you have little knowledge of the overall tone of the series. Great fourth-wall by Don about the cartoon myth.

Overall: 8/10

It surprised me too but I guess it was with reading the Alienanoids comic books and then later on when Mikey was grabbed by throat/neck and being dragged down to the septic tanks with the Squirrelanoids, before he got saved, didn't help.

I kinda wonder if the Squirrelanoids were just representing his fear of monsters in comic books... during the Squirrelanoids episode he was reading them and got himself freaked out pretty bad..

whoa that was....trippy okay where to begin...??

- When Splinter and Leo were glowing XD I didn't know what was going on! I thought they were gonna start summoning stuff or something.

-Didn't really feel Mikey's fear......felt a littttle forced....but hey, those squirrelanoids were creepy! and they almost killed him so...I'll let that one slide.

-dang Don....already being mean to Casey? Casey has no idea what's going on.

-when Mikey hugged Raph when Raph was still seeing roaches...omg I almost died laughing  Mikey was just in a hugging mood this episode.

- trippy...Fantasia scene...okay XD

- Don's fear, KNEW IT. Of course it was about April.....

See, this is how to do a, "mutant of the week" type episode. They made it so unique and different from the others that you didn't even realize you were watching another mutant filler.

More episodes like this, and less like the ones about the Cockroach and Spiderbitez, please.

Haven't watched this episode yet, but sounds like Don's greatest fear IS about losing April? Instead of his family? And likewise...Raph's is freaking cockroaches? Wow. That's pathetic. Way to give Leo the only real meaning in his fear. And they're already pushing the DonxCasey rivalry? I think I'm almost done watching this show, and might just catch the ones that show actual promise (like Slash and Destroy). Super disappointed.

Best mutant of week episode ever.

The Captain Ryan cameo was great.

April telling Casey about her messed up life was nice touch.

April's fear of her mutant father(though I thought that her fear would be becoming one of the Krang)

I was right about Leo, Raph, and Donnie's fears but Mikey's is not what I thought it would be.

Trippy fantasia mushroom faeries.

Personally I thought this is the best mutant design they have done so far.

Super Mario Bros reference was also great.

Liked the Leo and Splinter conversation at the beginning.

I had a hunch that this was going to be a Leo-centric episode essentially, but I really liked how the whole thing played out. Donnie and Caseys tension - I think like someone else said, that Casey was just mad about Donnie blaming him for losing April, and Donnie did had a lot of attitude, it was actually nice to see him have a bit more edge. And I'm glad that Donnies fear wasn't all about April picking Casey, but focused most on her being mad about/blaming Donnie for Kirbys mutation.

Raphs, Mikeys and Caseys fears was a bit similar - but not in a bad way, though. Really funny moment between Raph and Mikey and just nice and creepy with the rats, roaches and squirrelanoids.

And Leo was just awesome. Nice to see him being strong and cool, I think he sometimes can come of to much of a know-it-all (even though I think it's important especially for the tesions between him and Raph). And I really liked the moments with Splinter as well.

And finally, loved the freaky, psychedelic mushrooms (weird thing to say about a kids show )

I kinda get what you mean. I was hoping, that Mikey, Donnie and Raphs fears were going to be a bit deeper. But I guess they just wanted to focus on Leo and have it be character developing episode for him only. And in that perspective, I think they did a nice job with the rest of the brothers

The episode description said they'll be facing their biggest fears I expected more of the others. But I guess they need a balance of scariness and silliness.

The mushrooms brought the fears their were aware rather something they haven't realize.

The Director and artist must of had fun with the mushrooms.;)

But the problem was it was just April. Another way to hammer it in Don's crush on her and doesn't want his relationship with her to regress back to earlier this Season.

Would've liked to see maybe include Mutagen Man in his fear-induced state, attacking his family and April or explore his fear of breaking his promise to both him and April, but no, April, how she feels towards him is what really matters to him. Once again, missing potential that there's more to Donnie than his stupid crush.

LOL. You can have a fear over losing your family and loved ones.

Donnie is not in LOVE with April, it's a silly, immature crush over a girl he has known for less than a year. He places more value over her life than his own brothers and father, his actual family who he has literally depended on for his entire life? He supposedly cares about losing her to some guy (despite the fact that he wouldn't actually "lose" her as he never "had" her to begin with), over the lives of his own family? No. I don't buy it.

I'm sure if they had more time or maybe were able to have five episodes dealing with each I'm sure Donnie's fear would have been April, his brothers, and maybe Splinter hating him. But since they had a limited time frame they just went with the obvious choice about April hating him.

So you wanted everyone to have the same fear of losing their family?

Before this episode aired, people were speculating other elements that were tied to their family, such as being afraid of being left behind or alone, not being good enough for the others, fear of being responsible for causing them pain, or being simply forgotten because they weren't important to the team. There are SO many ways of tying one's fear to their family other than "OMGOSH THEY DIED AND IT'S ALL MY FAULT!!". This was such a great opportunity to show character development and a depth for ALL of them, not just Leo, while still keeping it a Leo-centric episode.

exactly! caseys kinda oblivious to it all at this point but isnt the type to just sit there a take the blame for something.

and while ill admit i wish donnies fear wouldve had more to do with failing the retro mutagen for kirby and timothy, this one makes sense. it doesnt matter that its only been a year, april is important to him. and his fear was her liking casey AND being mad at him for her father, which shows he still feels guilty for that and thats part of his fear.

Yes all of their fears are losing each other, but thats not what terrifies then. mikey doesnt go around all the time thinking "what if i lost my family" he doesnt have nightmares about it, same with raph and donnie. we know theyre family matters most, but thinking of losing them doesnt haunt them 24/7 like leo.

Yeah, I kept hearing the lyrics to White Rabbit in my head while this episode was airing. It's pill instead of shroom but you get the idea. Just ask April why she's ten feet tall. Glad the writers didn't go there. Liked the Sugarplum Fairy bit better. My better half and I were also reminded of the trippy Heffalumps and Woozles sceen from Disney's WTP and of course, the Fantasia bit. I can relate to Raph's worst fear. Ask Jester who's a great friend in the real world. Hate roaches! Rats, I think I can handle.

The episode was alright. I was glad Leo got a chance to shine. His personality needed to be explored a bit more, so that was a real treat to see. Sure the rats were brought up in order to lead in to Casey's worst fear, but I was hoping we'd get a glimpse of the Rat King at the end perhaps finding a bit of mutagen. I love those little teasers they tag on EG the squirrel at the end of Mutation Situation. Not exactly Marvel's post credits sceens, but close enough for government work.

Glad the writers are still showing the effects of the mutagen spill. These killer shrooms were among some of my favorite mutants. The show just keeps getting better, and I'm very excited about the episodes still to come. But I wish Nick had shown these in order. This totally fits after GB and Casey, and can't wait to rewatch the first 10 eps of s2 on amazon in proper order later this week. One more piece of advice before I go, fellow dromers. Remember what the dormouse said!

who had that theory that Donnie was the Oroku Saki in this whole love thing??

Cause I can kinda see it now.

his April obsession is taking over his life to the point, rejection is one of his greatest fears.

I had a theory as far back as season 1 about the Love Triangle being a mirror to the Hamato Yoshi/Teng Shen/Oroku Saki triangle. I've even mentioned so in this forum at least a couple of times.

Donnie does love April, at least in his mind he does. I don't think Splinter would have been as willing to have the Turtles go on a rescue mission to save her in Rise of the Turtles if it was just a passing crush.

However to the rest of the Turtles and maybe April's it's just an infatuation and there is nothing going to come from it other then Donnie getting hurt in the end.

Splinter's private lesson in Mutagen Man Unleashed was largely to remind Donatello that he can't simply force someone to love someone I.E. He can't force April to love him back.

But it had the underlying purpose to help prevent Donatello from falling down the same path the Shredder had. And since there is an over arcing theme of the choices one makes and the consequences that come from said choices.

In the past, Oroku Saki made the choice in letting his jealousy consume him, resulting in a loss of all love and respect that Hamato Yoshi may have had for him as a close friend and brother figure.

Splinter chose to answer his former friends hatred and that resulted in him losing his wife, and his daughter being abducted and raised to believe the Shredder was her father.

We know Splinter has lost many things as a result of his farce with the Shredder, he has lost his home, his family (i.e. wife and child).

However Donnie has more to lose in this sense, because if he follows the Shredder's path he would lose more then April...he would lose any trust or respect his brothers and father have for him. And that would be something he would be hard pressed to get that back if he has the opportunity to get that back at all. And even then his brothers still wouldn't feel they could trust him and April most definitely wouldn't be able to either.

And yes in this triangle Donnie does have a choice of playing the role of Hamato Yoshi or Oroku Saki in this story. And currently he is hovering over Oroku Saki's role, so we are likely to get more talks between Splinter and Donnie in up coming episodes.

Check out my fic "Learn to let her go" http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=43811 for a plausible heart to heart between Splinter and Donnie about this.

Maybe the reason that more of the turtles didn't have losing family fears (ignoring the fact it would've made an extremely repetitive episode) is because it isn't a fear for them?

They've always looked out for each other, always had each others' backs and they always pull through.

Plus, and I hate to use the 'they're teenagers' thing AGAIN, when you're that age, you think you're invincible. That death is miles away.

It's an issue for Leo because he's especially accountable for his brothers' safety. As an older sibling I can relate to that an awful lot.

Plus I can't stand cockroaches. Raph, I hear you.

It's like BabyTurtles brought up, I've been talking about Donnie playing the role of Saki in the whole triangle between the three of them. And after the Mutagen Man episode, I came to the conclusion as soon as Casey debuted what they were doing, as soon as I saw more people saying the whole, "This Donnie/April thing is getting ridiculous, Donnie's completely obsessed with her now. Good grief!"

My response has been this from that thread:
When I said "Playing the role of Shredder", I didn't literally mean turn evil and go bad, I simply meant playing the role of Saki to Tang Shen, where he did everything to try and make April choose him, almost obsessed like, even though he clearly sees that she will choose Casey, and he just can't accept it; much like Shredder tried to get Tang Shen even though it was clear that she chose Yoshi.

That's why I've always been confused to everyone's dismay about the whole Donnie/April thing. I keep hearing people say when referring to Donnie, "Why is everything about Donnie revolved around April, it makes it look like he's obsessed with her."

And since I came to this assessment, my reply has been:

"What if that's the whole point?"

This episode is the final bullet point.

People, it's the whole point now. It's not that the writers don't know what they're doing, they do. Donnie is being turned into Saki and is becoming obsessed with April, even if it's trying to protect her, he's still obsessed with her. You're supposed to realize this now, especially with the new "Metalhead" episode coming up.

Heck even when Splinter told Donnie to let April come back on her own, what did he then do in "Target: April", started following her again. It's obsession, and not listening to reason, regardless of who's offering the advice. I think if people rewatch all those earlier episodes with this mindset, it'll make more sense what the writers are doing.

With Season 1, it was supposed to be cute and cuddly and you weren't supposed to make this Splinter/Tang Shen/Shredder assumption because the third party hadn't arrived yet.

Now people look at these Season 2 episodes and look at Donnie and are going, "Wait a minute? This isn't right anymore. He's completely obsessed now."

Yeah, as I stated, "It's the whole point."

This episode was slightly better than the last one but it still was pretty lacking to me. I thought Mikey's fear was kind of forced but then again Mikey can be afraid of anything, lol. I know it's a comedy episode but I didn't find myself laughing much except for when Don and Casey argued, XD. What I really did like was how Leo faced his fear. That was the highlight of the episode. And like everyone else, this episode gave me Darkness Within from the 03 cartoon.

Decent episode but I think it could have been more.

Yes, there has definitely been a shift between the first and second season. Even though Kraang Conspiracy and this episode wasn't supposed to air in that order it really makes sense when it comes to Donnie beeing more and more obsessed with April. He was just trying waaaay too hard in "KC".
To me, the interesting thing about this episode was that Donnie for the first time really was in someones face. He has been annoyed with his brothers and yelling at them (well mostly Raph and Mikey) but he never showed hostility like he did towards Casey

Awesome episode. As a Leo fan, I loved it and thought the way Leo faced his fear was awesome. I loved the Captain Ryan cameo as we all know Leo has always strived to be like his cartoon hero, so it was nice seeing him in Leo's fear as well as his brothers telling him that he let them down and was a horrible leader. I loved the mushroom dance, too, and was laughing while it was going on. I loved Leo's line about failing and though Jason did an awesome job with the emotion when Leo said the lines.

The other fears were good, too. I loved April's and even Mikey's was one I didn't see coming at all, though it was a good one. Don's was obvious, but I still thought it was good. Casey's and Raph's fears were also good, too. Also loved the two moments between Leo and Splinter as well and how Leo recalled Splinter's words and was able to fight out of his fear. However, it leads me to wonder if perhaps there may be a lingering effect with those spores since Leo got blasted with them multiple times. Would there be any other side effects to that? Oh, and I loved the "Super Mikey Bros." reference, too. I told my mom about that and the Fantasia reference, and she laughed.

Overall, an awesome episode and definitely on my favorites list.

I don't get IGN's reviews. They purposely rate episodes lower if they're fillers and don't "advance the plot," yet he gives mediocre episodes like "The Kraang Conspiracy" high reviews simply because we found out April's origin.

Donatello19

I'm pretty sure that this is the best "mutant of the week episode"...it was so good it didn't even feel like one. I'll go over each fear and what I thought of them.

April: I felt terrible for April, she's going through a lot. Her fear was not only scary (bats alone are pretty creepy, Kirby is just downright terrifying) but she's also traumatized and has to live with the knowledge that her father is basically gone, and can hurt her since he's so messed up now. Again, I really felt bad for April and I feel like this added to her character a lot more, since we don't usually see her like this.

Casey: His was just done for laughs, really...but it wasn't all bad, I guess. I would say that we should've saw something that he really fears, like, something important, but we still don't really know him a a character too much yet, so it's no biggie.

Raph: I hated Raph's...sure he's afraid of cockroaches, but as his GREATEST FEAR? I don't think so. I feel like they gave him and Mikey stupid fears so that Leo would seem more mature or whatever. I think Raph's greatest fear should've been not being able to protect his family in a fight, and/or seeing them get hurt.

Mikey: Also hated Mikey's. I don't even remember him being THAT scared of the Squirrelanoids. Just like Raph's, this was done for laughs. I can imagine his real greatest fear is being separated from his family or being alone without anyone to talk to.

Donnie: Ok, Don's was also done for laughs...but it was the only one that actually made me laugh out loud. I also found it to be more of him being scared of just not being accepted for being a mutant by ANYONE, not just April (although they did imply it was just April). The funniest part was when they showed three miniature April's on Casey's shoulder's kissing him, but then it turns out it was really three rats crawling on him and he's screaming

Leo: We all know Leo's was the best, the only one that wasn't comedy based except for April.

So, April and Leo definitely had the best. As much as I would've liked to see "real fears" from the others, the episode wouldn't have been nearly as funny without the ones they used. A great, really fun episode. But if I had to complain: Why not show a fear from Splinter? That would've been great, we would've seen how he really feels about his daughter and more. Also, this episode was the perfect opportunity to bring certain characters back. Sure, they brought back Kirby and the Squirrelanoids, but I was waiting for Rat King to show up durig Casey's fear and Cockroach Terminator during Raph's. So, great episode...I really enjoyed it.

By the way: Twerking mushroom at the end :o

it was a comedy episode. Not every episode is going to use a threatening "kill or be killed" villain.Hence why it's just an okay episode to me.

Great Leo/Filler episode.

Leo's fear and response was epic.

Raph's...well, I'm still shocked by how gross this show is willing to get. Those roaches made me itchy. I'm happy that the CGI is steadily improving, but that was a bit too realistic.

I thought that Mikey's fear would be a bit more serious than the squirreloids, but whatever. I'm not too angry.

And Donnie irritated me. His "crush" is now a delusion-filled obsession. I expect better. He was a douche to Casey for no reason. Not cool, bro. Out of all of the turtles, it seems that Donnie has the biggest problem with being a mutant. April kept calling him a freak during his greatest fear and he even mentioned being a freak in Mutagen Man Unleashed.

Nice to see Kirby Bat and Casey again.

Few other things:

Love that Donnie is using his Naginata more and more this season
Mikey fighting skills are getting better and better.
CAPTAIN RYAN! Was it just me, or was is voice different?
This is probably the best animated episode of the show. It really looked incredible.

Yeah. Donnie's reaction to Casey informing them that he lost April was like "I don't like the fact you and April hang out together and have have been thankfully very tolerant about it. But how dare you lose her..." And geez Mikey certainly wasn't helping anything by saying she could be devoured by a croc

MsMarvelDuckie
02-16-2014, 07:09 PM
Well, someone posted it on you-tube a couple of hours ago, so thankfully I got to watch it. Usually I end up having to wait a couple of days until someone uploads it, but this one went up pretty fast for a change.

And now for my thoughts: Definitely one of the better eps, IMHO. I loved how all of their fears manifested in one of the others- Mikey and Raph seeing each other as their fear, Donnie and April doing the same- it made it all the more horrifying that they were seeing each other as something they were afraid of, and running from their own team. Nice touch, there.

On Donnie's fear- I didn't see it as JUST him being afraid of April hating him, but of her rejecting and blaming him for her father, and his insecurity at being a mutant. Until Casey showed up, he had a clear field, and now he has to deal with KNOWING that she has someone else to go to about all her problems. That's gotta' play on his worries about her not wanting him.

Mikey's fear seemed- odd, given that he didn't appear particularly scared of them originally, but then again, he seems to have a general fear of monsters to begin with, and those things were really gross and creepy. My guess is that it's just the most obvious form his fear could take, since he already knows they are real. As opposed to the other monsters in his comics, which have so far all been imaginary. His REAL fear might be seeing the monsters in his imagination coming to life. Which those did.

Raph- he's kind of obvious. Since we knew he was afraid of roaches, it was sort of a given, but just seeing HOW he saw them was really horrific in itself. I'd freak too, if my sibling's head fell off and roaches came out. Raph's fear seemed like an extension of both the loss of family (Mikey) AND being overrun by roaches. Remember, he lives in a sewer, and that fear might not be as far-fetched as we like to think.

Leo's was kind of predictable, but how he dealt with it was very cool, and I was REALLY rooting for him in that fight, which I don't often do with him. Usually, his need to prove himself in front of the others seems a little self-important, but this time around, I actually LIKED seeing him stepping up.

Side-note: The dancing mushrooms were hilarious! And that little twerking one at the end? That was hysterical! Mikey's Mario ref, the Captain Ryan scene, there were so many moments of pure comic gold here, in spite of the "dark" nature of this episode. Made it so much fun to watch.

Donnie's reaction to Casey was unnecessary yeah but it wasn't just him being as ass, because from what he heard, Casey lost April screaming and terrified in the sewers. It wasn't cause he's jealous of Casey, he was just pissed Casey lost her.

And his fear was of her hating him, not her not loving him. He's terrified of losing her altogether as a friend and In his fear, she blames him for her father and calls him a freak.

Sure, I'd like them to cut back a little so that Don isn't completely obsessed and April can spend some time with the other turtles...but I don't understand why some of you want it gone completely. I think it gives Don more character, but the problem is that none of us want to see it become his WHOLE character. Can't wait for a dig at Venus... 8)

LOL It's kind of a dig at all American censored anime in general (as well as Sven and Voltron). Just like the guy's 'I'm OK' felt tacked on and Mikey pointed it out, a lot of earlier dubbed anime had characters be killed, but still be breathing or saying 'ow' to show 'they're not'. Ironically the GI Joe cartoon movie did this when they originally planned to kill Duke. Near the end when everyone was cheering, they tossed in a random line 'hey guys, I just heard Duke's ok, he's alive!' to change that.

I'm busy writing down my thoughts since I had a long day. I'm surprised Shredder wasn't in anyone's nightmares....

This episode wasn't quite what I expected. I really thought there would be a bit more plot development rather than the mutant of the week once again. I also expected there to be more of an explanation of the mushroom being mutated. It was great to see Leo have his chance to shine, but it still seemed like he destroyed the giant mushroom way too easily. I did enjoy Casey and April being with the turtles and hope it happens more often.

I liked the humor in this episode. Especially during the anime sequence when the Captain went to slap the guy who was freaking out and he went flying. That was hilarious. Also the video game part cracked me up as well. But the "mushroom dance" really took me out of the episode and felt completely out of place. I did not like that part at all.

With all the filler episodes that have been in Season 2 so far, I REALLY hope that they are planning something HUGE as far as a badass battle between the turtles and Shredder. Shredder has been absent most of the season and I am starved for another good fight between them. Until that happens, there still hasn't been another episode of this series so far that has come close to matching the awesomenesss of 'The Gauntlet'.

Mikey: Oh no! Leo? Dude?Speak to me bro. Do you need mouth to mouth?
Leo: Absolutely....not.

The cute, little dancing shroom topping at the end reminded me of a joke:

Q: Why was the mushroom invited to the party?

Because he was a fungi!

Man this episode was crazy, I loved it. It didn't push plot too much as I had hoped but I'll give it a pass for an awesome time. Sure the fears were pretty superficial, but it made sense for a kid's tv show, to really focus more on one character's serious fear. Leo was awesome in this and I really dig the meditation in the beginning. With all the psychic stuff April is getting into, I think it'd be cool to see more majestic ninja stuff going on too.

But...can someone smack the hell of out Don yet?
Because this "Nice Guy" thing has moved waaaaay past entertaining.

Like the squirrel-oid one, great as a one-off horror-esque escapade but at this point I'd really rather there be a tighter focus on the story arc of the season/show than just "let's spend an episode fighting a brand new mutant thing."

As I said earlier, I actually prefer "mutant of the week" episodes done like this one or the Squirrelnoid episode, rather than the Season 1 way where some random human becomes a mutant and then turns evil for no reason.

There's a reason why the Spiderbitez episode is one of the worst episodes of the series.

Loved the Mario and Fantasia refs...most excellent.

the Mario ref was alright, that dance part felt a bit out of place but then again, it reminded me more of nutcracker

gotta admit, didn't expect mikeys head 2 come off which was pretty kl
also thought how Donnie was freaking out about april turning on him was funny, bit surprised how leos immune system seemed 2 handle the amount of the toxin that got sprayed on him considering he got sprayed 5x at least

on that part where mikey and raph almost took each other out while in the hallucinations, gotta wonder if those spores weren't somehow communicating w/ each other as a way 2 completely wipe out threats

overall, felt like a decent episode but could've been a lot better

That's a great thing about the Nick series right there, tons of people are finding themselves favoring a different turtle for once. They've gone to great lengths making the characters feel completely fresh while still familiar & true to their core. You're into Mikey this time around, for me, it's Donnie.

I find myself flitting between turtles this series.

I've gone Donnie, Mikey, Raph, currently Donnie, but liked Leo a LOT more after this episode. And that's saying something because he's always been in 4th position for me. I mean he's still in 4th position overall but for this episode he was 2nd after Donnie. Mikey/Raph joint third.

In my opinion, this episode was amazing. Call me immature, but I still think Donnie's crush on April is cute, but I do admit his stalking in some earlier episodes was a bit far.
Some people have been complaining that the fears were lame for this episode. Here what I think: if everyone had super serious, scary fears, there wouldn't be any comedy and younger viewers would be traumatized (keep in mind this show is aimed at kids). Plus, while these things were their WORST fears, they weren't their only fears. That means that Donatello doesn't just fear April hating him, and that Casey only fears rats. Leonardo's main fear was failing his family as a leader because he is responsible for them winning or losing a battle. I bet the other turtles didn't fear losing their team because they trust Leo as a leader (besides the fact that if everyone had similar fears it would make for a boring episode).
Then there's people saying that Raphael's fear of cockroaches was dumb. Okay, cockroaches are very creepy. Plus, Raphael is a tough, fearless turtle. He probably doesn't fear very much stuff. And I bet my worst fear would be spiders. So I understand his.
And I think Donnie's fear isn't ALL April hating him. If you listen to what April said to him, she called him a freak, and a weirdo with only 3 fingers. It has been shown multiple times in the show that Donnie resents being a mutant and I think that his fear is people calling him a monster, and also April hating him. That made me feel sorry for him when I thought about that. :tsad:
I don't think Mikey's fear was forced. He did seem terrified of the Squirrelenoids in their episode, plus the comics he was reading. Then in that episode they almost killed him. It makes sense but I was hoping for a fear a little deeper. Still, I'm not disappointed.
Leonardo was incredible in this episode! His fight with Fungus Humongous just made my jaw drop. And my favorite part of this episode was the Captain Ryan cameo. I miss that show even though Super Robo Mech Force is cool, too.
Pretty much the only parts I hated were the Mushroom dance and the very end. Was the mushroom on the pizza dancing or something?

I hated this episode. It had too much comedy for me, and in addition, it was a pointless filler.

First of all, since when is comedy a bad thing? If you're not expecting jokes from a cartoon, what are you expecting? And there can't be 26 episodes a season purely dedicated to the main story. There should be some breathing room. This show has a great potential and going outside of the main arc helps explore that. Fillers don't bother me. I'm just happy to watch it every week.

I liked the episode but it's not one of my favorites. I actually have a really sorta low key moment that stuck out the most to me and it was when Mikey whacked Raph in the head when he was initially going after Leo. I thought that was a really cool step forward for Mikey's character and I am actually a lifelong Raph fan. I also thought this ep really pushed the envelope as far as how freaky it was. I mean Mikey's head fell off and cockroaches started shooting out his neck! For a "kids" show that's pretty dang crazy really! One thing I was hoping for was to see Splinter get in on the action. It would have been cool to see his worst fear. Maybe his worst fear is having all the Turtles find out the truth about Karai?

Did anyone else feel that in the end, the huge mutant mushroom didn't seem like much of a threat? When I first saw the concept art and saw how huge it was, I thought it would be way harder to take it down. I also didn't think it would be that stationery and could at least slide or grow limbs of some kind.

It was a good episode, but too "out there" for me to really be one of my favorites. I couldn't shake the feeling the fears for Mikey and Raph were handled too easy, Leo's and Donnie's on the other hand were interesting.

Although it's probably going on for longer, this was the first time that Donnie's obsession started to make me feel uneasy. The way he reacted ("Don't say it, leave me alone") while still pursuing April really showed his obsession is becoming unhealthy. (Almost bordering on dangerous)

Casey/Don confrontation was interesting, but felt too sudden. It feels as if there was no transition at all since the episode they first met. Don would have been upset with anyone who lost April, but his inherent dislike for Casey added a venomous layer of hostility.

Normally when someone is freaking out Don would be the first to show worry or try to help, but now there was only hostile indifference. Very interested to find out how this Don/Casey dynamic will develop.

Not a bad episode, not one of my favorites but you could definitely see a lot of work was put into it.

I think they lessened everyone else's fear because Leo's fear was a main focus.

Raph is afraid of Cockroaches and Casey is afraid of Bats. That is okay because we know those are their fears. However having Casey see the Turtles as Gigantic rats much like Raph was seeing his brothers as gigantic roaches would have have been too much.

Though if the episode had been more serious I can see Raph's fear being the fear that Leo will always be better then him.

With Mikey and his fear of the Squirrelanoids. I think its largely that he fears comic book and movie monsters in general. And in the end of the Squirrelanoid episode Mikey nearly lost his life to them so he has every reason to be afraid of them.

If they had added to it they would have had Kraang Prime in the mix as well as Mikey also could have lost his life in that fight as well.

Donnie's fear that April hates him has some deep connotations. I mean yeah his fear is understandable because April has only recently comeback after hating them for weeks after what happened to her father. However as other people have pointed out Donnie has the most insecurity when it comes to being a mutant. He even calls himself a freak at some point. However there is also a sense of insecurity between his brothers and himself. So yes if they could have expanded on it I'm sure there would have been images of his brothers saying he's useless as a ninja, he's a walking disaster area, maybe even Splinter saying he's a disappointment.

His running after April even though he is yelling "Don't say it, leave me alone" in his mind he is trying to run away from his tormentor, but in April's mind she is being chased by a giant bat.

But having Donnie being plagued by images of his brothers blaming and ridiculing him would have taken away from Leo's fears of failing as a leader. So they simply left it to the one person Donnie fears failing the most.

I agree with Babyturtles completely.

I also think it's ironic that people keep spouting that Don "needed" this crush because otherwise his character was too forgettable and boring. Well congratulations to the writers at Nick, now ALL of Don's personality is basically consumed by his obsession with April. I'm not sure that's really a step up. As I keep saying. It's the whole point.

Yoshi/Tang Shen/Saki = Casey/April/Donnie

They made it very clear since the Mutagen Man episode that Donnie's character was going to change as the season progressed.

Donnie is about to undergo a big character evolution during the rest of the season, his "obsession" is done intentionally to set it up.

I agree that yes it seem that the Triangle between Donnie/April/Casey is a mirror of the other Triangle and I'm sure much of what has played out in Splinter's rivalry with Shredder will be echoed through the actions of those three.

However in the end Donnie truly desires April's happiness and I can see him doing what Shredder could not. Which is to step back and realize that his selfish desires are causing her unneeded pain and let her go.

If they wanted a story arc like that they could have very well focused it on an arc of 3-5 episodes, and it would have had the same punch. As it is now, the "storyline" for this entire show is so far stretched that it's practically non-existant, and all this "building" up has essentially turned Don's character into a one-note turtle. I shouldn't have to wait a season and a half for some inkling of character development on a show that isn't pure comedy, which this show can't seem to make up it's mind if it wants to be or not.

And I'm sure that's what they want viewers to expect.

But jealousy, obsession, and mostly Pride, can make even the noble man do very foolish things.

Remember that even Shredder wasn't always bad, but his jealousy and pride consumed his life down a path he could never come back from. His obsession to win Tang Shen ultimately cost both Splinter and Shredder the one they cared for most. And that could be done the same way with April, (minus the death of course :D)

True, but don't you think it would have been a better idea to allow viewers new to Don's character to actually SEE him as a noble man first? In the very first episode his crush on April is introduced. We know absolutely nothing about these turtles, but from the moment April hits the screen, Don's basic character is set in place for the rest of the series. We don't know about his ethics, his true personality, his thoughts, anything else that could be potentially skewed given his infatuation with April because we never got a chance to even see them.

If we learned who Don was first, and then later on down the line he developed this crush on her, and again his unhealthy obsession was given it's own story arc, we could really understand the change has come over his personality. Not to mention it would have given April's character a chance to breathe as well, to form as her own depth and personality without Don's lingering presence, and to give her a chance to interact with the OTHER turtles as well.

i think thats partly our fault. i mean, in this episode, donnies fear was only 1/6 of the fears we saw. he did not actually overshadow leo in this episode. leo got the most attention, the most focus, the most development. but since everyone on here is focusing on donnies fear, thats why it seems to be overshadowing. it really wasnt that big of a deal. this donnie has a crush on april. his fear was to be expected. we shouldnt be focusing this entire discussion on just 1 of the turtles fears, that at this point, makes sense in this series.

its the harping on something thats already been harped on before that makes it seem like donnies crush is overpowering every episode. i mean, mikey makes pizza references almost every episode, but since no one discusses them, its just accepted as part of his character

i wish people would stop making this don april crush into a character/show ruining thing. this donnie has a crush on their one human female friend. its happening, and as far as we know its not changing. if you dont like it, thats perfectly ok. but you're only blowing it up by focusing every discussion in any episode that donnie says "april" on the crush. its a character trait of his now.

if were discussing donnie, why not talk about how hes starting to use his naginata whenever possible, or how he knew everything about the mushrooms, what they are, how to kill them, how they need to be killed before sunset. there are other things to him than this crush.

my sister's favorite character was Donnie (always has been)

I don't want to be reminded that Donnie likes April every episode she's in one.

even if it's a small moment, I don't want to have to think about it every time.

and now we have to go through Casey and Donnie fighting it out because of April.......which is not gonna be fun for me.

all I wanted was April spending more time with the other 3 turtles...instead I get Donne this...and Donnie that.

that's why I get annoyed by the slightest Apriltello moment...cause I think "she could have done that with another turtle...."

it's kinda hindering April's character too....
People now know her as Donnie's crush than her own character and I don't blame them.

not gonna lie this whole thing makes me bitter to the point I make way to many rants about Apriltello. :D

I'm sorry but this Donnie and April thing is a problem.

my sister's favorite character was Donnie (always has been)

but the thing is, his crush on april is just part of his character. like i said, mikey with pizza, leo with space heros, etc. its part of him, so the crush is there, whether we like it or not.

ill admit, i would like more april interaction with the other 3, but its not ruining her for me. you dont have to view her as donnies crush. shes training to be a kunoichi with splinter, she has a rivalry with karai, shes wanted by the kraang, heck shes part kraang, shes caseys friend. theres so much more to her that people arent seeing because theyre focused on apriltello.
heck if its not donnie then its leo. leo had a 1 on 1 with her, leo tried to stop her from going to a kraang lab, leo saved her from karai, leo tried to protect her from the kraang in kurtzmans.

heck i dont even care for apriltello, but its part of this donnie. i know its going to happen, i expect it, and its fine. if donnie saves her, has a 1 on 1 conversation with her, thats that. it would be out of character for donnie to not have a crush reference when april is there. but you dont have to let that take over the show for you. donnie still always works on inventions, always knows what to do, always shows how smart he is, the whole timothy thing had a huge impact on donnie, now kirby. metalhead episode added character to donnie. the april crush is just one of his many characteristics.

and while you may not like the casey vs. donnie, i love it. casey has never, from what ive seen, had much interaction with any turtle other than raph. hes always just raphs best friend. this rivalry now atleast gives him some sort of interaction with another.

this is especially true whenever there is an April episode, I mean...who gets the most love in her episodes? Donnie. whether it's about him worrying about her...being awkward around her...or just talking to her the most.

he seems to take the spotlight...

not including his own episodes......

I'm probably gonna sound a little biased ...but I'm glad Donnie's getting most of the attention for once. If you look at all the other series', you'll see that he's always the ignored one. I'm pretty sure he's usually the least popular turtle, too. I'm glad Don's getting the attention that he deserves. And honestly, it's not as bad as you make it. You literally make it sound like there hasn't been ONE episode where Donnie isn't in the spotlight. Really? Sure Donnie gets a little more attention when it comes to interaction with April but that's to be expected. He has a huge crush on her, and it's a really good representation of a dorky teen with a crush. Outside of April/specific turtle centric episodes, all the turtles have an equal amount of importance. Who cares if Donnie has a crush on April? If anything, it just adds to the humor AND Donnie's character. Then for you guys saying April never interacts with the other turtles...

New Friend, Old Enemy: April shows Mikey the social media website and tells all of them that they do have a mutant friend, her.

Metalhead: April shows Raph and Leo a website with security footage of the Kraang and plans to go investigate. Leo is worried about her and doesn't want her to go because it's to dangerous, but she still goes, concerned about her father. April meets with Leo, Raph and Mike (and Metalhead) to tell them about what she saw.

Never Say Xever: April wants ALL of the turtles to spend some time outside the lair, and brings ALL of them to the noodle shop.

The Gauntlet: April tells the turtles about the mutant pigeon, Mikey defends April when they want to use her as bait.

Panic in the Sewers: April and Leo talk on the T-Phones before she gets captured, Raph goes with Donnie to save her.

Mousers Attack!: Mikey briefly tells April how to work the T-Phone before it explodes.

New Girl in Town: Leo goes to April to talk about Karai before his brothers for advice.

The Alien Agenda: April explains her school project to Mikey.

TCRI: April and Leo (along with Splinter) make the plans to break into TCRI.

Karai's Vendetta: All the turtles are impressed that April beat Karai, Leo reassures April about leving in the lair.

Operation: Breakout: April watches Don and Raph spar with Mike and Leo.

The Mutation Situation: Mikey briefly calms down April that her father's mutation wasn't her fault.

Target: April O'Neil: April tells Casey how she used to have FOUR close friends...Leo tells April that it was their fault for Kirby's mutation but she still forgives them, Mikey gets down on one knee and offers her pizza as a "welcome home gift".

The Kraang Conspiracy: Leo threatens Kurtzman and asks him what he wants with April. Leo saves April from being blasted by a Kraang. Leo tells April to stay with Kurtzman because he's worried about her. Raph is the one to save April from the Kraang and she says how she'll never be able to live it down. Mikey says "welcome to the family" when they find out she's a mutant.

Yeah, you guys are so right. April has never had a single moment with any other turtle besides Donnie! Yeah, no kidding she's gonna have moments with Donnie mostly...but that's not to say she doesn't interact with the turtles. She also interacts with Splinter quite a lot, and Casey as well....so there. :trolleye:

I don't find Donnie's crush on April annoying in the least, though I do admit his stalking was a bit creepy. I just think it's cute and I don't construct theories about it or groan at every mention of it.
When I started watching this cartoon, Donatello and Leonardo were pretty much my immediate favorites in this version. And Donnie's not just my favorite because he likes April (but that is one reason) but he's mostly my favorite because of his weapon, sarcastic humor, and intelligence.
If you don't point out every single mention of his crush and get annoyed with it, it doesn't really bother you. If you hate it, just ignore it and don't put salt on the wound by ranting on about it.
Just look at the episode 'Monkey Brains'. April wasn't even in that episode but Donatello was still the main focus and had a chance to shine very well.
Now let's move the conversation on to Leonardo.

I think you are overthinking this. The show has proven to be way less sophisticated than you give it credit for in terms of long-term characterization and plot development. Plus that's way too dark.

Apriltello is getting on my nerves... it's really interfering with April's development, and Don's.

I agree with you on this..
this last episode was to me as if it wasn't ripe yet to go on air...the visuals all looked nice but I mean...I can't believe the show already feels so repeated to me...I really like the show and generally am refreshed by all the stuff thats happening on it(for the most part) but I have hit a mark where its such ol bogus all the time...you know?donnie=april crazy...mike=finds something so cute and then it attacks him.its even more predictable tahn that:it attacks his HEAD...raphael:just a brute, always angry.apologizes every now and then(even THIS annoys me already..seen it twice in almost exactly the same way..)..and leonardo:young, still full of himself, yet eager to lead strongly..
I hope these turtles really do grow up like ciro said it was their intention over the series.and let them venture out into UNEXPLORED story territory...
thats my two cents at least..

By de aging April karai and Casey, making karai splinters daughter, having Donnie have a crush on April, having Leo be a little overconfident, having raph be comforting, having splinter act as a father, adding new henchmen to shredders army, focusing plots on mutagen, and having April be half alien, how much farther into unexplored territory do you want them to go? This show has made more changes to tmnt than any other series, having the turtles completely grow up, would be going back into already exhausted territory.

I thought this was a good episode. I loved the Super Mario and Fantasia references, plus Donnie's worst fear was just hilarious, even if it was predictable. I like that Don has a crush on April because it gives more depth to his character than just being "the smart one" out of the bunch. And I agree that The Pulverizer eps gave Don more depth about being responsible for someone and caring about their well-being. He's not all about April, but with Tim being frozen, there's no one else he can really interact with other than her, Casey, and his brothers and Splinter.

Right? Some people are too sensitive and emotional. "The horror! So dark for a kid show!"

So Tim is a mutant, and they put him in a container to protect themselves and himself. And Donnie is not giving up, still working on a cure. Big deal. No need to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

I like that it's dark. I think it's one of the more interesting plots the show has going for it. I'd like to see more of that. But hey, I guess that was really unclear because of all my "sensitive emotions." Nice attempted derail there, slappy.

I will say this, I am sensitive to this whole Apritello business, mostly because it's Nice Guy creeper crap. If I had any faith in the writing I'd be waiting anxiously for Don's comeuppance, but...alas. April O'Guffin, we hardly knew ye.

But I hardly find that putting Tim in a container considered as "dark". It's kinda normal/make sense, nothing sinister about it. Now let's say for example, Saki took Yoshi's daughter and raise her in deception all her life - now that is twisted and considered "dark" imo.

and everyone seems so concerned with aprils aunt, and sure, it would be cool to see her. but i think youre forgetting that this isnt just a typical cartoon. the cg budget, explained by ciro, shows it costs a lot to add new sets and characters. so adding aprils aunt, to just have a concerned look while aprils doing something, etc. is truely not at all worth it for this show. would you rather have (insert any villain/ally) or get a 5 second shot of aprils aunt.

theyve mentioned her enough, to know shes there and that aprils not living on her own. so while seeing/hearing her might be nice, it truely is not that big of a problem since it in no way adds to/moves forward any part of the show at the current time.

I LOVED this episode! You can't get any better than watching a bunch of character trip on mutant mushrooms. It was just SO GREAT. And I couldn't stop laughing. Some other people said they didn't laugh or think it was funny, I thought it was hilarious and laughed almost the entire episode. I finally convinced my brother and sister to watch the show based off this episode and my brother did and he thought it was hilarious!

Definitely one of my favorites of the series so far, is not my favorite.

I really liked all their fears, I don't know why we'd want them all to have the same fear of losing their relatives. I mean, some people really don't go around having nightmares or fearing loss of relatives. It's just not something they spend a lot of time fearing or obsessing over (where we know Leo does). I thought Raph's fear was great, heck, it's my fear, too! I mean, it would have only been better if he'd feared bedbugs. But that was GREAT. I loved his fear 100%.

I enjoyed Mikey's fear thought it took me a couple minutes to make the squirrealanoid connection (but still, we got to see him hack up squirrels, what's not to like!)

Donnie's fear, I wasn't surprised by it and half expected it and I was fine with it. Also, seeing all the Aprils kiss Casey only to turn to be rats was too awesome! xD

Overall, I was VERY happy with the episode, was happy Leo got his chance to shine and was just so awesome!

I LOVED the dancing mushrooms (super love) and Super Mikey Bros! Also, the twerking mushroom at the end was probably the best ending to any show.

Someone else mentioned their turtles changing faves. Yeah, my faves are usually Don and Leo, but now it's been Raph, which is surprising because I've always liked him the least. But I really enjoy him!

Sometimes the Apriltello can get old, but I don't think it's really THAT big of a deal that some people are making it out to be. I mean, sure I'd prefer less, but it doesn't ruin episodes or the characters for me-- and I'm sure overall, it'll work out someway. If it does go away, I'll probably even miss it. And, of course, it's popular! That was actually a pretty genius idea, if you ask me, to add that in and get more young girls involved in viewing. Not that ALL young girls have romantic hearts (I certainly didn't and still don't) but quite a few do and appealing to that is usually a good idea (Twilight for instance). Actually, his fear was kinda sad since it was based on rejection.

Anyway, though, loved the episode and hope to see more and I loved the cute mushrooms and it would make my day if they made a comeback because this was just so much awesomeness packed into twentyish minutes!

I'm glad they didn't all have the same fears as well. This was certainly one of my all time favorite episodes spotlighting Leo. Hey, do we know who provided the voice for Fungus yet?

I don't think anyone here was asking or hoping that they'd all have the same fears, just having other possible fears that were less predictable or fears we know they already have.

It was certainly difficult predicting Mikey's worst fear. I was glad they made it somewhat comical but it made sense that it had to do with the Squirrlanoids who nearly spelled the end of him during that particular encounter. I was glad it wasn't pizza related. haha I felt a bit underwhelmed by Don's but am hoping the writers delv a little deeper into the layers of that one later on.

Seems like most that have a problem with the fears wanted "serious" fears only (abandonment, etc) or some kind of family-related fear. Some people just don't worry about that and, at that time, that was their fears. My worst fear has changed a lot throughout my life as has others, I'm sure.

As people have pointed out that it wasn't just a fear that April hates him. It's a fear as to how humans see him in general because of what he is. But it hurts more because it's the girl he loves who is calling him a monster and a freak.

And I'm sure there was probably a fear of his brothers hating him as well since there have been moments where he seems to feel like he just doesn't belong. However that part of Donnie's fears were never included because it would have taken away from Leo's fear. Perhaps if FH does appear again in a later episode, Donnie's fears will be explored more.

Wait, wait. Wait a second. I went back and re-watched that Squirrelanoids episode and I think Mikey's fear makes more sense now. There were sequel comics, they never actually defeated the squirrelanoids, just quarantined them until they could figure something out. Heck, his fear probably makes the MOST sense after watching that again. I'd be freaking out, too. I mean, those things are in the sewers with them, ready to escape at any moment and possibly eat them while they are sleeping.

Also, that construction guy-- he's the same guy that the Squirrelanoid episode ended with. I'm like 98% sure. The guy that Casey and April run into while he's yelling, "giant mutant squirrel!" I don't think he was tripping on ANY mutant mushrooms, but actually running from the squirrelanoid.

Uh...that whole episode revolved around April and Don, and it set up the plot about April's powers.

Yeah, a few hours after I posted that I realized "Uuuh, April was in that episode..." My bad. I really need to watch that again if I'm going to reference it, I can barely remember it.
When I wrote about Donatello being focused on it that episode and having a chance to shine, I meant his fight in the end. It is one of my favorites of the show so far. April was no where near him, or even in his mind, and he managed to hold people's attention. Donatello is more than just his crush.

Super Mikey Brothers! So COOL!

That's what I considered to be in the recent fanfic before I changed it to The Mikesters.

That could explain why there is only 2 Squirrelanoids present in Metalhead Rewired. All though, April seems to sense something wrong, indicating that the Construction Worker was running away from his own illusion.

Nice catch! I didn't even notice that- the lack of squirrelanoid in the prison, lol! xD

He could have been or she could have just sensed something wrong because there is a lot going on in those sewers. Or maybe the Kraang did get the other squirrelanoid, too, and the construction worker is just as terrified of them as Mikey is. Or maybe the Kraang did only manage to capture two and there's one on the loose. Maybe the construction guy escaped the squirrelanoid, only to encounter the fungus mushrooms, got sprayed with one, and still thinks he's being chased while the squirrelanoid is in a different area of the sewer. Oh, the possibilities!

At any rate, Mikey's nightmares are bound to increase since they are on the loose again.

Brilliant episode.....but was it made on drugs?

I mean, nightmarish imagery was not so much creepy as...strange, like in really-really strange, 60-s strange, Silent Hill strange...and so on.

Special respect goes to editor for his amazing work on this episode.

Fighting scenes were awesome and, I think, graphics were better during Leo vs Giant Boss 'Shroom Mutant, like in some scenes in season 1 finale.

Also, captain from Space Heroes have returned.

So far, it's my favorite episode in the series.
