Since the movie has, "bomba" written all over it, maybe they should just set it directly to DVD and cut their losses. I honestly don't see this movie making back its production budget at all.

jeez, Cubed. This is a new low, even for you. No. The movie should not be released as a direct-to-DVD movie, a TMNT movie with bad designs and awful casting choices isn't the end of the world.

Well how well could it possible do in theaters at this point? Older fans are horrified by every piece of info that comes out, and kids watching the Nick show will be completely turned off from the designs and tone of the film.

I honestly have no clue who this film is being aimed at exactly.

What? They've already spent a large portion of their production budget. Why wouldn't they release it in theaters where they'll have the greatest chance to recoup their budget?

Am I the only one that has never seen the term "bomba"?

People use that term on neogaf all the time.

That explains it. I had to look up what neogaf was because I'm not a gamer.

Very rare to see someone of around your age not being a gamer.

Cyber you are overreacting and as I said before EVERYONE! was saying the exact same thing about the Nick series, THREE TOES!!!,CGI!!!!!, Tall Splinter!!!!,12 YEAR OLD APRIL!!!!.
But yet most of these same people are watching and enjoying this show now. I have not seen a Nick tv bashing thread for over a year now at least, after the premier of the show everybody pretty much shut up and people will do the same.
The only thing that is pissing me off about the movie is how Platinum Dunes is treating it....

I never complained about the changes in the Nick show, and I don't think many others here did either. I think people were most concerned on if the CG would look ugly or outdated when the show came out.

it's going to cater to the lowest common denominator, just like Transformers movies and make some money. And it'll probably do well.

And we should rejoice, cause this movie may not be for us. But the money it makes will keep other properties in the TMNT franchise alive.

I was always a fan of the Mario and Zelda franchises but I stopped playing after the GameCube releases. The older I get the less free time I have. I enjoy movies, novels, comics and TV more than video games so that got cut.

While I don't read novels, I do enjoy everything else you listed and still have time for games. I only play games for 1 hour a day at most and even then I have time for any other stuff.

You don't speak for everyone. I've followed the Turtles for a good portion of my life, and while I may not be overly thrilled at some of the choices I've seen made for the film, I'm still super psyched to go see it and will definitely do everything in my power to go see it opening night. I'd be super pissed if it was actually released straight to DVD just because some whiny fanboys got their boxers in a bunch.

I think its safe to say that this movie will make its money back. Just cause most of the diehard tmnt fans don't end up liking it, means nothing. The general public will ensure that it makes it money back just because it is the turtles. These designs are more closely based off the Nick series than the old tmnt designs, so kids will be able to relate to it more, causing a rise in profits. And let's remember that kids are only gonna care about one thing, its the Ninja Turtles in a movie. And they will be begging their parents to take them to see it. Not to mention, the profits that will be made from toy marketing. Parents will be out in packs trying to pick up tmnt movie toys for their kids once it comes out. No matter how you slice it, this movie will do well, regardless of how most longtime tmnt fans think of it.

This is my hope. While it probably won't be my cup if tea, I hope it is able to increase the popularity of the Nick and IDW series.

Everything right here, could not be any more true. At this point, we have to look at the positives this movie will have. Keeping other properties alive is definitely a positive.

This is kinda how I feel as well. I'm actually excited to see the turtles on the big screen, definitely not happy with the direction this movie is going but still excited to see a movie. Who knows, and this is a stretch, but maybe this movie will surprise us all and be really good (like I said, a stretch. )

The Nick series has already been picked up for a third season.

I'd say it's at its MOST popular, regardless of what Bay and company are doing.

Yeah, that's never gonna happen. Sure, this movie may suck but still, I think that proclaiming it should go direct-to-dvd is a stretch. By your logic, we should have given Dragonball Evolution and The Last Airbender direct to dvd just because of the decisions made and the peoole attached to it .
