Any Shredder theories?

I've been wondering what Shredder might be doing in Japan. Any theories? I can't remember if the show ever said exactly what he was doing but I figure it has something to do with weapons since in the Enemy of My Enemy ep he was trying to get his hands on some high grade weaponry. What do you guys say?

Probably an excuse to have him gone for episodes and develop other stories.

I like how Shredder can be gone for episodes, and then just strike deadly when returning rather than getting his butt kicked by the turtles in almost every episode as in the 1987 cartoon.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Bebop and Rocksteady but I totally don't expect that to happen and I can see both sides of the argument against it.

Shredder's in Japan looking for allies to build up his army. He's probably looking for more soldiers and we know he's bringing back Tiger Claw. That's pretty much all he's doing right now.

They were entertaining. That's more than you can say for 80% of the other mutant enemies in the series who are either mindless monsters or bland and generic.

Seems it's become 'cool' to knock Rocksteady and Bebop in this day and age as an example of everything wrong with the original cartoon.

Yeah, they're bumbling idiots that tended to screw up things more than help, but they had charm to them.

IDW managed to keep their bumbling personalities and yet make them a more viable threat. With how the Nick cartoon has made characters like Rat King and Mutagen Man feel more threatening than they were in the old cartoon, I have high hopes R&B will both be pretty good threats to the turtles as well.

I'm wondering though if they will be Shredder's henchmen or not or will they become so.

I didn't find them that entertaining....

I mean- I don't mind them being dumb....as long as they are dumb and a threat XD

If they are just gonna be the former, I'll take more mindless monsters.....

but I'm sure that Ciro will make them strong. ^_^

There's a point between 'bumbling' and 'almost too dumb to live.' They were getting to that latter point, by the time they were last seen on the show. That doesn't totally convince people that they would be a good fit for this show, least of all me, and I grew up with the OT.

I like them, and I say this with emphasis here- BUT even I think they shouldn't be pushed into everything, lest it look like people can't move past the OT, and has to have everything from the OT in order to like it.

That is what it's starting to feel like, with all of the push for B and R.

Even as a kid, I remember not liking them that much...so I'm not just saying it "in this day in age". They weren't entertaining to me, I don't find stupid characters entertaining. Their voices always annoyed me, too.

Hopefully they'll actually do something in the Nick show.
