Hi all...

I'm struggling with what to have Kevin Nash autograph and want some opinions. I'm obviously an immense lifelong turtle fan and am considering printing a screen cap from secret of the ooze for him to sign. On the other hand, growing up as a teen/ young adult in the 90's you weren't cool unless you watched wrestling and I enjoyed him as a wrestler very much and identify more with him as Diesel/ Big Sexy then i do Super Shredder. Ideally I'd get on of each but I'd expect that to be more money.

What would you do?

Go for both, whichever is closer to your heart, or just photoshop both together into a single image.

Depends on the venue. Kevin's a great guy. Absolutely a businessman, but a lot of times prices are set based on what kind of cut the promoter gets. Factors like if it's a wrestling show or a collectible show, etc. Go for broke, if anything else it's another $20. With this kinda thing, you never wanna look back on your life and say "I wish I would've."

Last show I worked with him on, I think sigs were $20, but I was doing my gimmicks on the other side of the ring so I didn't exactly catch if it was a $20/each kind of thing, or for $20 you'd get a photo and a sig, or whatever. Just bring extra cash and get that sh*t. You'll be glad you did.

You'd sh*t yourself if you knew how much cash he rakes in off of TMNT II. Nobody has made more money for two days work in the history of the universe. Guy wins at life.

And since I feel like it... :D

Almost every week, brother. :) I've had dinner with so many millionaires who don't know my name or have any real idea who I am, I lost count ages ago. Somehow, he remembered me, and Waltman/Pac always does, and lots of others, more than I'd even expect.

I'm 100% convinced it's the mullet. I stand out compared to most people, so even though these guys see millions of people a week, and we don't run into each other for months or years at a time, it's like, "Oh, THAT guy, I remember." I mean, just being honest, what else could it be? I'm nothin' special, I just have "a look". But if it makes me memorable, as the guys I work for insist it does, then golden.

My gear's fairly common. Adrian Street's wife Miss Linda makes my stuff, and lots of other guys' stuff. You've seen Sting and Jeff Hardy wear that design, just laid out differently. Sting used it in TNA and Hardy does it for the shirts he wears in the ring. It's flashy gear, it's quality, and it doesn't break the bank.

You'd be amazed what gear costs. That outfit's altogether probably between $500-$600.

I'd say do what you can if you have the money. It's awesome that you're going to see Nash though. If you're able to do it, get both. As Leo said, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it's better to get autographs for both things.

I didn't know what outfits cost that much, looks awesome tho. You do remind me of someone would would have wrestled in the WCW 96 era, you look like a wrestler! some guys these days look like they are gonna go model underwear or something.

Anyway bro, if you have any more awesome pics of you a Big Daddy cool or any other old legends please share.

what is/was your fav era? gotta say I loved 88-99

Ha, when I read the title of this thread, I thought that it was going to be a question: "What would you do if you ran into Super Shredder on the street?" I'd run the other way, that's what I'd do!

I see your point with wrestling, however it seemed like you jumped on the wrestling bandwagon while your passion with TMNT seems to be more natural, so I'd sign a SoTO-related item. You're also posting this question on a TMNT forum, so that's another reason right there. However, I'd recommend a 1991 MOC Playmates figure. It will cost you around 30 bucks on eBay, but autographed figures are always nice to enjoy.

Several times, Bret at signing shows and Anvil worked a couple shows for the company I work for. Bret's always a nice guy. Anvil, I've heard horror stories about, but I always caught him on a good day, I guess. Always treated me fine.

Worse than that, that bastard hustled me. I legit felt bad and went to buy A picture, and ended up going in for a group shot 8x10 of most of the nWo signed by most of them except Hogan. Motherf*cker got like $30 out of me, all because I felt sorry for him (and the nWo one is actually a really decent Get), and he was kind of a dick about it, like he was cutting me a deal. He was really pushy about it and I almost told him to f*ck off, because he kept trying to get me to buy more sh*t. I'm like "Dude, no offense, I've been here 5 minutes and already spent money I didn't intend to," and he backed off.

As Sheik would say, "F*CK the Virgil!"

Spiffy. I never met any of them.

That must've been a while ago. People say Stacy isn't exactly the type of person anymore who takes photos with people. Basically that she thinks she's actually famous ever since Clooney nailed her. Shame if true, since I heard that she *was* pretty down to Earth back in the day.

Again, never met her, that's just what I hear. Neat pic, though.

Ted Dibiase old manager/servent. He had a great match with him at Summerslam 91.

Ah, okay. I was kind of confused because I know Dusty Rhodes's real name is also Virgil, but I had a feeling you weren't talking about him since you talked about the NWO. That's why I brought up that guy Vincent who was also in the NWO.

They named him after Dusty rhodes real life name, for some reason.

Really? I thought Virgil was Ted's real name and he just used Ted DiBiase as his stage name. Interesting to know. Thanks for sharing that.

Leo656

It's like this:

Dusty Rhodes's real name is Virgil Runnels. In the mid-80s, he was a high-ranking member of the NWA booking team, as he was starting to wrestle less. At various times, he was more or less running the a lot of things backstage. At around the time Jim Crockett Promotions was having financial problems, Ted Turner started having more influence in the company, as their shows all aired on his SuperStation TBS. Throughout the period before and during Crockett's sale of the company to Turner, Dusty and Turner were known to be on fairly good terms, to the point where many people started to regard Rhodes as Turner's "mouthpiece"; even before Ted Turner had officially any influence in the NWA/WCW, many people believed he was unofficially running the company through Dusty Rhodes, using Dusty as a tool to implement things he, Turner, wanted done.

When Ted DiBiase debuted in the WWF as the "Million Dollar Man", they decided to give him a bodyguard character to take most of his beatings for him so Ted's character wouldn't look weak on TV. They hired journeyman wrestler Mike "Soul Train" Jones for the role, but wanted to give him a trademarked gimmick name. According to the legend, someone, very probably Vince McMahon, came up with the name "Virgil" as a rib on Dusty, the implication being that Dusty was just "a rich man's stooge". DiBiase's finisher, "The Million Dollar Dream", was another jab at Dusty, who was often nicknamed "The American Dream". So basically, like a lot of things Vince McMahon does, the whole thing was an inside joke that absolutely nobody got. Although it did get kind of funny by accident when Dusty jumped to the WWF 3 years later and feuded with DiBiase and Virgil.

When Mike Jones jumped to WCW in 1996 to join the nWo and become DiBiase's stooge again, they named him "Vince" as a far more obvious gag, this time at McMahon's expense, probably because Dusty was one of the WCW bookers at the time and has a long memory. When the nWo broke up, he later joined Vince Russo's "Powers That Be" group of on-camera villains, and was named "Shane", as a rib on Vince's son, completely beating the entire awful joke into the ground for good.

He mostly just calls himself Virgil when he's begging people to talk to him at conventions. Not just fans; he tries to get other wrestlers to talk to him when they clearly don't want to, and it gets very uncomfortable. Poor guy.

Speaking of inside jokes nobody gets, Dustin Rhodes's "Goldust" gimmick was yet ANOTHER joke at Dusty's expense. One of Dusty's more obscure nicknames from the 70s was "Star Dust". When he and his son had a falling out right before Dustin went to the WWF, part of why Dustin became such a flamboyant character was because he knew his Dad would hate it, and he fully went along with the name "Goldust" as a jab that fans wouldn't get, but Dusty himself would. Dusty later came to enjoy the gimmick, but he was fully aware at the time they were teasing him.

It's amazing how much stuff gets on TV just because a bunch of guys who AREN'T on TV feel like they have to tease each other. :P
