View Full Version : TMNT 17th Oct UK release date a smart move?

If the rumors are true, I think it sucks that TMNT is coming out on the 17th October in the UK but I'm starting to think it may be a smart move.
(I did notice on the Cineworld website that it says TMNT released on 26th of December but i'm hoping it's wrong)
I looked at UK movie release date calendar on IMDB and it doesn't look like there are any other bigger movies in October that could beat TMNT but I may be wrong.
2 October 2014
Bang Bang (2014)
3 October 2014
Gone Girl (2014)
Dracula Untold (2014)
10 October 2014
The Equalizer (2014)
Knockout London (2014)
17 October 2014
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
The Judge (2014)
Dolphin Tale 2 (2014) - I found this wierd that Mae Whitman is in this film as it's released on the same day as TMNT.
24 October 2014
The Maze Runner (2014)
Fury (2014)
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014)
The Book of Life (2014)
Paranormal Activity 5 (2014)
27 October 2014
Haunted II (2014)
So does anyone else think this could be a smart move.
It’s because of the World Cup. TMNT has a very staggered release schedule as a result of that. I think it’s probably a good move in the long run.

The World Cup starts in June and will end in July and then the new football season starts in August so it's got nothing to do with the football.

18th October was the date listed on all the posters I saw at Toy Fair.
Doesn't bother me, since I won't be seeing it regardless of release date, but I do think it might hurt the film over here in the long run - I have a feeling that a lot of people who would have paid to see it will just download/stream it illegally, rather than wait...

Is this a fully confirmed release date? If so, I think this will seriously hurt the film. I can genuinely say I won't be waiting 2 months to watch it with how release dates are these days. 2 weeks is acceptable, but 2 months is stupid.

How many people may turn to the internet to watch the movie if they know it is already out in other countries and feel frustrated at having to wait two extra months? Especially when the internet will be full of spoilers and reviews as soon as the movie is out and conversations on message boards.

I know I will get frustrated when the movie comes out in US first and will have to avoid spoilers for 2 months, which will be hard.
I'm hoping that when people here see it first they will be carefull of spoilers and make sure they use spoiler tags, maybe I could suggest that we could have 2 threads for reviewing the movie one for spoilers and one for no spoilers as I would like to read what peoples thoughts on it. Just a thought anyway.
I would never try and download it as I don't like downloading from an unknown sites.
I remember a few years back when the 1st Transformers film come out over a month after US and it come out the same week as The Simpsons Movie in UK which was a stupid move. Can't remember which movie got to no 1 though.
I wish I thought of this before and probably too late but I found Paramount Uk site and I sent a Email to them if they could get TMNT to come out earlier than October 17th and I think if anyone else here from the UK should try too and see if they reply back and get the date changed here's the site with a contact page http://www.paramountpictures.co.uk/contact.

No harm in trying I guess. But, as I said before, I know that if they choose to stick with this date, I probably might not end up seeing it at the cinema because, even if I don't watch a recorded copy, the US Blu Ray wouldn't be too far behind at this point.

Complete and utter bullsh*t move. I've always said I'd go see this film the week it comes out regardless of how bad it looks, because as a lifelong fan I would regret not going. I know I would. I want to find out for myself, on the big screen, just how good or bad this thing is. However, two months of trying to be spoiler free is impossible.
I love this forum, I'm on here everyday, I may not post that often but I always visit. I already avoid most of the Nick section because by the time we get the episodes over here their threads are buried, and I hate spoilers. I don't post in the comic section as much as I used to, and that was my home from home in these forums because to start off with us in the UK got shafted to begin with with delays (and nowadays I can't afford to pick up my comics weekly).
I hate being a knock off Nigel, but there's no chance I'm waiting two months to see this film after it's been released elsewhere. So yes I imagine that i'll watch it through some streaming site or other, there's a high chance it's going to be balls and I won't go to the cinema when it's released. A week or two I don't mind waiting, but not two months. I woulda been there opening week, more likely opening night but I'm not waiting that long.
I dunno, it just seems to me that TMNT fans here in the UK get shafted all the time, and I'm f*cking fed up of it...

The studios wonder why so many people stream recorded shows and movies online. In the uk you either have to wait 6 months later or pay silly money to the likes of the Murdoch empire of crooks if you want to see shows shortly after the US.
It's the same with toys. We are so far behind the US for TMNT and Transformer releases. Most people probably end up buying the toys online, then the high street retailers wonder why the toys don't sell when they finally do release them six months later.

I really did not realise that the UK would be getting this movie in October...that is so disheartening...why are we being screwed like this?
Is TMNT not perceived as being a global franchise? I would've thought the UK wouldve been the second biggest market for the TMNT after the US, so this move makes no sense at all?
Agree with others, I am literally going to have to go underground for 2 months to avoid any spoilers... Which will basically be impossible.
Gutted.

I'm in the same boat as you.
I really was getting excited for August to see TMNT.
Pretty much what you said above, I assumed we'd be the second mass audience for TMNT too and feel annoyed we always get left behind Its always happened with TV shows, not having Sky it's worse for me as CITV takes forever to show TMNT eps after they've been out on Nick.
Still at least we get the IDW comic the same day as the US, That'll keep me going - but everyone on here will discuss the movie so I think for a few months i'll 'go dark' on here though i may just stick to the comic thread.
The merchandise for the movie will be delayed too - if its anything like gijoe retaliation those toys will never hit the shelves :(

GI joe is having a hard time selling their toys for what ever reason, they aren't even making large waves of toys. It's kind of annoying seeing as im a big gi joe fan and love there newer figures they just dont make them much anymore. They started slowing down since before Retaliation. which suck because it was the better movie IMO

Just found out about this now, and agree with this, as well as the post about the Murdoch empire. Been busy with life and the World Cup so just arrogantly assumed that the film would be released here within a couple of weeks of the US, like most films. ****ing raging it isn't.
Like you say this may well be a bollocks film, but I too wanna go and see for myself as a lifelong fan. As it is I will probably stream it and if it's shite not bother paying to go and see it a couple of months later. I imagine many people will do the same so this will be harmful in the long run. At least if it came out around the same time as the US but was rubbish they'd still have our money.
Ahh well.

It's annoying for me because I want the film out right now!
However, patience is a virtue. They may be planning to hit each country with extra goodies before the film comes out there. Maybe there is a marketing plan for each date of release in every country?
I'm hoping that the whole Pizza Hut / Ninja Turtles combo happens over here. I'd love to host a pizza party, preferably before I see the film.
There is little actual merchandise hitting the stores yet in the UK. It is infuriating because (thanks to the power of the internet) I can see the Americans having all the fun. They'd better do something amazing to make up for our staggered release date.
It has never made sense to me why European premiere's are staggered like this. Two months is a long time. There is the possibility of people downloading the film in the meantime which will scupper any profits the filmmakers are going to get. If people are that desperate to see the movie the chances are they'll find a way to do it.
At the moment, I'm seriously considering hopping on the nearest plane in the luggage hold (like Leo did in TMNT, CG movie)
Haven't got a passport, so stealth is the only way I'm gonna do this thing. lol

While I agree with everything you brought up, need I remind everyone here that Iron Man 3, The Amazing-Spider Man 2, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier were all released in the UK before the USA? Cap 2 premiered in the USA first but wasn't fully released until after the UK.
Guardians of the Galaxy is also out on July 31st, 1 day before the USA. So the UK doesn't always get the short end of the stick. Sometimes we even get stuff a few days/weeks after everyone else, so why we're not getting the new TMNT movie for over 2 months is kinda weird.
And for the record, I haven't seen a single bit of marketing for the new movie here in the north of England whatsoever other than the occasional 10-15 second TV spot.

Well apparently they wanted Transformers and TMNT kept away from each other because they predicted Transformers that it's going to gross big and it is. I don't get this beacuse 3 Marvel films were released within a few weeks of each other
They also brought Transformers forward a week but wasn't officially not in the UK Box Office chart yet.
I thought why couldn't they release TMNT in September, no big movies in that month for UK. But I'm wondering they wanted it released in October because it's near half term (from Oct 27th in my county but maybe a week earlier in other counties) so kids will be off school so they know it make a bit of money.
The 2007 movie come out the same time as the US but it came out the same week as The 300 in the UK (which come out March 9th in the US) so it ended up at no 2 in the UK Box office and it only lasted about 3 weeks in the top 10 and it was a few weeks before easter holidays started and it only made 5 million.
So i'm wondering they didn't want to make the same mistake with this film but it may end up being a mistake as some people will probably download it and it will lose money.

I haven't seen much in regard to season 2. The first DVD has come out with the first five episodes of season 2 but not much since. Problem is, you can watch them all in REALLY LOW QUALITY on you tube which kinda spoils it a little.

Yeah that could be a problem but which countries are worse that do pirates, I'm assuming it's countries like Russia, Japan and China ect that do it but Japan release date is in December and have no idea when China's release date is as it's no on IMDB yet. I expect it depends on which country have the movie in english but with different language Subtitles as I doubt people would download a movie to see it dubbed in a different language. But I'm not 100% on the pirate movies knowledge.
I did ask a workmate who downloads pirate films but he says that the quality of the pirate movie gets better when the movie releases in the UK

No idea, nothing new on Amazon yet.
Don't no about the Pringles can's as it's still too early but i'll keep a look out but the marketing will probably be different in the UK as if US got Pizza Hut promoting the movie we probably have McDonalds (I work for McDonalds so if anything pops up, i'll tell you. Also Mcdonald's in the US had TMNT/Furby toys in the Happy Meals, we only had Furby toys, which makes me think that they are delaying TMNT toys till October) or Burger King promoting it.

I've been very vocal about not caring for most about this movie but concede I'd probably have gone to see it anyway.
But I'm not avoiding spoilers and reviews and discussion on this movie for two months and any curiosity will have long since faded by October. Unless it gets hyped as the best TMNT thing ever it'll be the first TMNT movie I don't see in a cinema.
Also with a lot of people eager to tear this a new one the fact that it can't boast international figures straight away will be used against it.

If it's to do with a half term holiday tie in then that just doesn't make sense. Start of August is perfect for school summer hols! And it DEFINATELY would've been a summer smash for kids!

Good rant
I tried contacting Paramount UK at least 4 times but never got a reply back but I have a feeling it was Nicklelodeon probably wanted the movie released in October cause we haven't had any new episodes for a while and Nicklelodeon probably wants to show the 2nd half of season 2 closer to movie release date.
I don't think it was Hercules that caused TMNT to be pushed back because Hercules hasn't even done well in the UK, it only made 2 million dollars and it's currently at no 2 in the box office chart, (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes at no 1 for the 2nd week).
'Apparently' it was Transformers 4 that caused TMNT to be pushed back to October becuase they didn't want them clashing. I don't think Transformers has done well in the UK it's made 29 million so far currently at no 5 in the chart by next week I bet it be at no 7 or 8. It probably won't make over 35 million dollars because as soon it's out of the top 10, thats it, it's over for it.
Here's the UK Box office chart
http://boxofficemojo.com/intl/uk/?yr=2014&wk=30&p=.htm
Heres what the previous Transformers movies did, except for the 1st one, it doesn't say on Box office mojo.
Transformers: doesn't say but I know it got to no 2, it made £8.7 million in its opening weekend behind the Simpsons Movie.
Transformers 2 $44 million was at no 1 for the 2nd week, lasted 5 weeks in the chart
Transformers 3 $45 million was at no 1 for the 2nd week, lasted 4 weeks in the chart
Transformers 4 $29 million was at no 1 for 1 week, currently at no 5 in its 3rd week
This is the Top 10 total gross of the movies so far this year in the UK, so far Transformes 4 is currently at no 9
1. The Lego Movie $56 Million
2. X-Men Days of Future Past $45 Million
3. The Amazing Spiderman 2 $40 Million
4. The Wolf of Wall Street $37 Million
5. 12 Years a Slave $33 Million
6. Captain America: The Winter Soldier $32 Million
7. Maleficent $31 Million
8. 22 Jump Street $31 Million
9. Transformers 4 $29 Million
10 Dawn of the Planet of the Apes $28 Million
It's hard to tell if TMNT will do well in the UK because of the piracy problem, I doubt it will make the top 10 in the UK yearly grosses but I could be wrong. I expect it will be at no 1 in the UK box office chart though when it comes out.

I suspect the release of The Inbetweeners movie also has an impact. It comes out in the UK the same week as TMNT in the US and whilst it doesn't directly compete for the same audience, it is taking up a lot of screens - my local multiplex is showing it on 4 screens out of 10 on the opening weekend!
This doesn't leave a lot of space for other films let alone another big new release, especially given GotG only came out the week before. Hence the move to half-term week to give TMNT the best chance to make money.
I don't know if The Inbetweeners is shown on TV in the US and I doubt it's as popular as over here, so the movie probably doesn't even get a cinema release. In the UK the movie will be one of the biggest grossing films of the year.

I've been to America twice. Chicago in 2008, and LA in 2009, I went to The Gathering of the Gargoyles convention. If I had the money I would defently gone to New York to see TMNT at opening weekend.

I could probably afford it, even though I don't have that much money.
Hercules was a guess. Inbetweeners 2 is likely a reason.
The only real competition out this Friday would be that rushed sequel to Planes. Hardly a threat to TMNT ticket sales :P
Vicky82
08-06-2014, 04:12 PM
I don't think Guardians of the Galaxy would have been a threat to TMNT over here in the UK as GOTG only did £6 million at the weekend but I could be wrong we just have to find out how much TMNT does in October. I don't expect GOTG to stay at no 1 for a 2nd week. Inbetweeners 2 movie or the Planes movie will probably take no 1 spot.
Transformers 4 is now at no 8 and it looks like it be it's last week in the top 10 and it's only done £18 millon so far, doubt it will go over £20 million. So if TMNT came out 2/3 weeks later it wouldn't have effected the gross.

Kingsman: The Secret Service which was meant to release on the same day as TMNT in the UK (releases on October 24th in the US) has been pushed back to February next year.
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/nailbiter111/news/?a=105448
The Homesman, Open Windows, United We Fall, Exorcism and The Best of Me are the other films that are out the same week as TMNT. I don't think any of those movies are gong to be threat to TMNT so it's safe to say TMNT will take no 1.
Perhaps its also courtesy on part of Paramount. They have had previous interest in The Inbetweeners before (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/paramount-looking-bring-brit-series-344153). Not sure how much involvement they still have or anything to do with the current movie.

I don't know about smart. Commercially, yes, given the current line-up in UK cinemas targeting a young teenage audience. And I'm happy with a term-time release as it means I can book a day off work and enjoy a child-free cinema...
But I have a niggling worry, which I hope is just paranoia....
The nunchaku issue doesn't apply anymore, right? They're not going to do a hatchet-job on it and give us a censored cut are they? As it's a PG-13 in the US, I assume it will be a 12A here. Seeing the butchery performed on Steve Barron's film and even the Nick series, I just don't trust the BBFC to let it be.
10 weeks to go.
Frustrated.

October's the month I was born, so I'll likely view it as a slightly belated birthday treat (born on the 8th) but I'm bummed I can't wrap up my summer movie season with this and be as "in the moment" as everyone else stateside currently is and talk actively about the experiance.

I think it's a terrible move, there's a cam out today and I know so many people will download it to avoid the spoilers posted all over the Internet. I've started watching the cam, but will goto the cinema when it's released in the UK, and will buy the blu ray on release. It's just a shame I have to watch the movie from a cam first :/

I don't think we'll have to worry about the nunchuk thing anymore. That ban was lifted and nunchuks have been on screen ever since.
If they censor it to death they are gonna kill it before it even hits the screens.
I just get the feeling that we've been kinda cast out of the main event. All the excitement was for August and now we're waiting in a kind of no-man's land for our turn.
I was even seriously considering boycotting the film for a while as protest. Even though I know how much I will inevitably love it.

A bit of good news for us UK fans, there will be Special previews of TMNT at cinemas on October 11&12 before it comes out officially on October 17th.
Don't know if this will be every cinema though so best to check your local cinema nearer the time. Crossing my fingers they show TMNT in Luton or Milton Keynes.

Considering internet piracy and that most studios consider it a victory if it takes more than 24 hours for a film to get online and how divisive this film proved even before it's release this was a totally stupid move by Paramount. They should have got it out here straight away before word of mouth showed just how bad it actually was.
I've seen it so I'm going to pay to see it, that's only right, but I've been telling all my friends not to bother because of how bad it is.

Probably stems from the fact that it's "cool" to bash this movie.

Well, I think that's a bit harsh... It's totally their right to buy whatever they want to. And I can understand the collector mindset a lot of the time.
But this is one of those "vote with your dollars" situations - every sale this movie gets helps ensure that this is what we're gonna get more of, and if someone don't want this to be the direction for the property, not financially supporting it is their best bet to see that change.
I guess I just don't get the "brand loyalty" mindset. The property isn't going anywhere. It's owned by a massive corporation that will use it to make a profit any way they can. If one version of it were to fail, or be considered "not successful enough" by the bean-counters, or whatever, they'd just dust themselves off and try something different with it. That means we can afford to be picky.
Davetello
10-07-2014, 04:54 PM
He doesn't mean they're loyal to the brand to keep it successful, I don't think. It's more about a psychological urge to own everything related to the turtles. Quality is irrelevant.

Yeah, the reason I have less stuff (and have bought digitally in places) is that I have limited storage space. I'm struggling enough as it is - had to give lots of clothes to the charity shop last week, partly because I don't like them any more and partly because I have no space for them.

In certain ways yes... but with Two-Face and Riddler's performances I'll see it as the bridgeway between the darker Burton films and the cartoony mess that Batman and Robin was.
Such a shame really. Seeing Tommy Lee Jones as Agent K and other similar roles, he'd be the perfect Two Face if the movie script made him actually act like Two-Face instead of Joker Lite.

I went from protecting the film before it came out - being one of the people to give it a chance before I saw it .... to hating it when I saw it - despising the film with a passion rarely seen .... to tolerating it - and kinda watching it in the background whilst I read my magazines .... to full on loving in with repeated viewings - not sure how that happened.
When it comes out over here, I'll be raring to see it in 3D and at IMAX. There are things I really love about it now and I think I've put my expectations aside. I just wish they'd given me the money to make it and not Michael Bay :P There were so many unforgiving moments in the film that it was only the turtles characters that pulled it back for me. If they had stuck to the original concept art, it might have been generally received better.
Like others, I'll be buying it on Blu Ray 3D and adding it to my collection. I think now it's on a par with the TMNT 3 movie.

Honestly, because it's an enjoyable enough way to pass an hour and half. It's not a good film by any stretch of the imagination but it's passable as a mindless popcorn flick. Plus I'm really curious about all the potential deleted scenes and hopefully any insight into the creative process from a commentary track.
Plus I have some hope for the sequel. They've shown a willingness to be receptive to the fans. They ditched the alien script (thankfully), they ditched Sacks Shredder (to the detriment of the film's narrative). They went about it in the wrong way this time, but hopefully that willingness is still there and they'll take on board the criticisms of this film to make the next one better.

Do you have to book or can you just show up like you would any other movie?
You can just show up.
I only booked to get the best seat because Cineworld decide to change the seating arrangements.
You can just show up yeah, Cineworld have this weird seating system now where they allocate your seats. But if you book tickets on their site you get to choose where you sit which is a nice idea, never seen that before so I think it's a new thing they're trying.

And that's fair. And again, totally your prerogative. Thanks for answering.
I'm nowhere near as optimistic as you about them learning or taking criticisms, mind you... If anything, from the interview snippets I've read/heard about, a lot of the people involved seem pretty arrogant, defensive and pig-headed about criticism for this movie. I'd have a lot more hope for a sequel if Paramount cleaned house and brought in an all-new creative team - but that's me.

Now I fully understand why everyone such a big problem with Johnathan Liebesman and Micheal Bay's producer crew being involved into making this film; Every interview I watched, I get some kind of ignorant vibe from them. Maybe I'm just over-thinking things, but they seem so baffled at why so many fans had such a huge problem with this film since beginning and now. Have they ever thought about the fact that maybe the movie sucked or their ideas are just plain awful?
God I hate Platinum Dunes now.

I just come back from seeing it, I really enjoyed it :D
I'm going to see it again on Thursday or Friday, maybe this time in Milton Keynes.
The screen wasn't even half full but it was at 11am and Luton Cineworld is always quiet. I haven't seen it busy for years.

I went to the 10am showing and there were 7 of us there! Poor turn out but then in the UK we get the movie 2 months later :/
Really enjoyed the movie on the big screen and in 3d! ( saw the cam about 5 times when it first got released), even my wife enjoyed and she's not a turtles fan! Bring on the sequel!

Well I'm in a bit of quandary. Not only did curiosity get the better of me but I also decided not to wait months for it to be released in the UK so I watched it through other means.
I genuinely believe in paying for things and under normal circumstances I would see this in an actual cinema just to feel I've done "right" as well as to see a better quality version...except I really disliked this movie to the point I'm not sure I could stomach watching it again.

I see things differently.
Platinum Dunes plowed ahead for months even after backlash from pretty much everyone until that script leaked and Paramount halted production, slashed the budget and order re-writes.
If it wasn't for Paramount we'd have gotten alien turtles and Schrader because even as far as their section of the Paramount panel at Comic con they seemed confused and a little bitter that people didn't like the idea.
Even the whole inclusion of Oroku Saki doesn't strike me as a huge effort to please the fans. If it mattered to them they would have done it from early on. Even as a last minute inclusion it didn't have to hurt the movie's narrative if they'd incorporated it better. There's plenty of other changes during production that we know happened that also hurt the narrative that had nothing to do with fan concerns.
Also the more I think about it the less I'm convinced changing Shredder's identity was just due to fan concerns. I've said before but in parts Fichtner's acting is weird in this that I struggle to see him as even a lackey of Shredder let alone someone who was supposed to be Shredder himself. Part of that is the poorly written dialogue but I think the answer lies in Fichtner's early interviews that once in the armor anyone not matter what size could become imposing in the Shredder armor.
I think maybe that's how they were working this, that they instructed Fichtner to chew the scenery and people would accept that the "badass" cgi villain were the same guy until someone looked at the footage and said "I just don't buy this guy as a master ninja - even in a movie were someone can master ninjitsu from a book".

Saw it tonight. Finally! Don't know what to think though. I've been on the positive side of the fence for the whole build up to this, and I am genuinely pleased that we have another live action TMNT. But now after seeing it... I don't know. It's good, but not great. It's good but not dreadful. Going to go see it again though.
Thing that stumped me was Shredders whole story, his relationship to the Turtles & Splinter. By that I mean...there was no relationship. That seemed VERY strange to me.
Pleased to be able to return to the movie section of the forum now though!

Yeah, definitely one of the parts they could have thought out better. No relationship at all and yet he wants them dead. Eric Sacks wants his mutagen back so he can make money, the end. Shredder is just mad at them by proxy I guess.

I didn't know about the creators comic con reactions to the criticisms. Ok, I'll rephrase and say hopefully whoever is higher up at Paramount and forced the changes on the film listens to the criticisms and forces the creative team to take them on board for the sequel:tlol:
I was going to see the film this weekend but decided to see Gone Girl instead, I'll wait for the IMAX version of TMNT next weekend.

It's actually a nice thought that perhaps they genuinely listened to fans and made changes however belatedly.
It's also a nice thought that they looked at the movie and though "this could be better".
Sadly I've become wholly cynical on these things and I could see it being more a case of "this needs to be like other hit movies, change the origin (again) to be more like Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the climax be like Amazing Spider-Man". Still it underscores the importance of having a solid script from the start.

Saw it last night...loved it!! There were things I was worried about with this film that I needn't of worried myself with. It was a really fun film that me and my 6 year old enjoyed together. A few unanswered questions plot wise, but that doesn't bother me too much. Hopefully they'll address those in the sequel and the story will build up with added depth and history. There's definitely great potential for this. Can't wait to see it again next weekend! :D

Considering Leibesman's comments about Splinter and Shredder's backstory being too complicated I wouldn't bet any money on that.
Of course we can always luck out and get director with just a small amount of ambition.

I don't understand how Splinters and Shredder's backstory is way too complicated to comprehend. Did they ever state an explanation for this?

Based on the rest of the movie, I think "story" of any kind is too complicated for Liebesman.

"They do become mutants because of Mutagen," says Liebesman (who says that the film will not include the exact "Daredevil"-inspired origin from the comic). "For me, as a fan, it's a very satisfying origin. We discussed, 'Should we do the exact Eastman thing?' The problem is, it becomes very complicated. People who aren't fans will just be like, 'What the f-- is going on?' There's already so much complication in terms of Splinter being formed because he was Shredder's nemesis who stole his girlfriend. It's just that then you start opening a whole bunch of doors that became very complex to explore in this film."

Anyhoo, I finaly got to see the movie on Sunday at 10:30am. I think I was the only adult there apart from the parents lol. And i went on my own  (Mrs had to look after the nipper)
Overall I loved the film and cannot wait to see it again. In the cinema or dvd. The comedy and action were fantastic. Mikey was hilarious!. Story was....meh unfortunatley. Had they got a better story/plot, the film would easily be a 10/10 for me :(
Still, amazing film. So glad i finaly got to see it after all this time. Quite emotional :lol::lol:
Edit: And i was gutted that the elevator scene was cut short!

I think that it is unforgivable that they had THREE WRITERS to do that story. I wonder if the cast and crew just chopped up the original screenplay without much thought. I can't process how three people can make such a faulted script, it's almost epic.

The way Liebesman words it, it sounds like he's talking about complications in the original story in addition to Shredder and Splinter stuff. It sounds to me like he's referring to the origin of the ooze. Which, of course, even the original movies didn't touch. It is hella complicated and weird. At least this movie left the door open to explore that later. (Reference to alien ooze, Utroms in the mural.

I can't process how three people can make such a faulted script, it's almost epic. Two writers to make a mess, one hired to fix it. While rewrites are the root of all this film's problems, three is hardly a record.
