Us TMNT fans imagine Donatelle as the brains of the bunch, figuring out such information that would sometimes make Raphael say "This is an educational show, is it?" It's only natural that Donatello's OT voice actor, Barry Gordon would appear in a number of game shows before he got the role.
-The Dating Game (courtesy of the TMNT 1987 25th anniversary rerunion; his episode may not exist anymore due to wiping) Likely sometime in the late '60s/early '70s).
-The New $25,000 Pyramid (at least three weeks/15 shows in 1982-83). He was nearly strangled following one $25,000 win, in which the husband of the contestant picked her and Barry about five feet above the ground. There was also a buzz for mentioning a "french potato" since there was no such thing.
-Tattletales in 1983. Did you know that at the time Barry Gordon was married to Sally Julian, a short-lived hostess on Sale of the Century?
-GO (Two weeks in 1983, a short-lived word game where two players alternate words to hope the contestant will respond) Vicki Lawrence (of Mama's Family fame) was the celebrity rival partner, who also competed with him one week on $25K Pyramid.
-Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour (1984, final week). Barry only participated in the Hollywood Squares half, but it sadly turned out to be Gene Rayburn's final week for hosting any Match Game incarnation. He was the top middle square.
Here is a clip of the MG/HS one in case you haven't seen. I'd love to see a TMNT story involving some game show with Don as a contestant someday. I'd imagine for the other turtles on some game show, Raph would get many wrong answers being quick to the buzzer, Leo too hesitant to answer, and Mike would be stumped on many.
