I found a trailer in the ultra-HD and made a screenshot. Look! It's Turtles/Kappa and Utrom???

Holly ****, how did i not see that?
My theory that creatures from dimension X visited the earth in the past and and that Shredder will be looking for a way to open the portal to it is correct. http://s24.postimg.org/4sma04cb8/gvu.jpg

It's either an Utrom, or some random octopus out on a battlefield. Though... that wouldn't make sense, so hey, maybe it IS an Utrom!

I've really got this sinking feeling that Shredder will be an utrom. His voice in the trailer is just too robotic and monotone.

Anyone else wondering what's that behind giant guy? (Let's just call him Krang)
That can't be the Technodrome, could it? and what's on those flags behind him?

Well spotted! Y'know I actually don't hate the idea of Utroms being involved, lets say Shredder is an Utrom like in 2k3, Ch'rell was one evil little bugger, could be entertaining??

I can't decide what's on the flags, if its the 'drome what are the lines for? Looks like a flux capacitor...

Doesn't make it any less unnecessary, and I'd recon the twist would have been better if Shredder was first presented as Oroku Saki, like in 4Kids. Now that we have Eric Sachs we're already posing lots of wacky theorizes to explain the idiocy, with most are he is either possessed or a android suit for Krang, a Kraag or an Utrom.

Oh damn. Good find. It might be.

I hope there are no Utroms. I've always wanted them to stick close to the original comics but I never liked the Sci Fi element in the movies. It should be more grounded like the first movie.

We've had a Turtles movie grounded in realism, I think the movie verse needs to embrace some of the sci-fi elements to give something more than Turtles, Shredder and Foot. I would love to see some Utroms or Kraang or Krang...or any variation thereof. Personally I want to see a Triceraton on the big screen...

Honestly there is alot more Sci-Fi in the comics than gritty realism at this point. I say embrace the Sci-Fi, the Mysticism, the Supernatural...not to the point of Justice Force or any other super-hero teams, but to the point that some of these things do exist, and as such ground them in some form of arguable "realism."

Why can't aliens exist without making the movie completely standard science fiction fare? So bring in the Utroms, heck, bring in Leatherhead...don't go Fred Wolf of Nick Turtles overboard with Mutants, but what's the hurt in expanding the Universe to something more than Frank Miller inspired Turtles?

Oh yeah, and definitely a Triceraton, because Triceratons are cool...

I agree. I want a Turtles in Space arc on the big screen.

I've always loved the TCRI origin and what it led to. I hated the half-assed attempt at explaining their origins in SotO. TGRI (still hate the name change) was a joke.

Bring on the Utroms.

03-30-2014, 09:17 AM
Excellent find! Can't believe I missed that.

Totally convinced Sachs is an Utrom and Saki will be resurrected by Karai (who has no idea how vile her ancestor is) after she and the foot break into Sach's TGRI facility and steal the ooze or whatever is needed to bring him back. I can only imagine that is where the "snow chase" parts of the film will come from - the Foot taking ooze to a remote location (where Saki's body is?) We already know that Lego set with the tanker has Karai and ooze with it.

So many ways the movie can go, hopefully it will only set up a great future for the films and a strong live action franchise.

Yup I already noticed the Turtle kappa warriors and the utroms as well on the wallscroll. A buddy of mine owns that scroll, he's just not allowed to show it yet.

But those are definitly Utroms on it. And since, as seen in the trailer, it's TCRI, and not TGRI, we'll be getting Utroms for sure!

That is cool! And they definitely look like Utroms, not Kraang.

I think this is some epic foreshadowing. I don't think we will see this in this movie. That seems more like something that will bea payoff in the sequel.

Don't forget, it was mentioned in an interview that they are signed on for multiple movies. ..

I wish that one guy would get his friend to post high res pictures of each section of the scroll.

Might clear up a lot of things regarding this thing.

Or even detailed descriptions of each section. Like what are those flying things on the right side.

What do the little guys fighting against/with the Turtle Warriors look like clearly?

Any details that might lead us to believe that the big samurai in the center is clearly Krang's robot body?

Just a couple high res, well-lit pictures of each section would be awesome.

Yeh. That's what was supposed to be the Secret of the Ooze, that it came from another planet than Earth. And it was written out. Scandal!

I like the idea of the ooze being of extraterrestrial orgin (as much as I hate the idea of the turtles being extraterrestrials).

MastahShredder

I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a connection to the Utrom/Kraang with the military - thus the science that’s being done ties into the Ooze’s extra-terrestrial origins. That also makes more sense for the ideological rift between Shredder & the Turtles and potentially the creation of additional mutants like Tokka, Rahzar, Bebop, & Rocksteady being used and controlled by the Foot.

I think it's one of three things.

1) Utrom

3) He builds the suit with some crazy features that allows him to go toe-to-toe with the Turtles.

There is just no way Sachs throws on that suit and takes them on.

Maybe they're early mutants?

Could be. Maybe they're ancient mutants the four current mutants are based off, but it took years to recreate that mutation. Maybe they were frozen for years and then brought back to life, maybe they were those ancient turtles and the mutation went whack and brought them back to being regular turtles (which tend to live a long time) and then they were re-mutated (but with little to no memory of the past), etc, etc. Who knows? It'll be interested to see where they go with it. Is kinda weird that turtles are on an ancient wallscroll, lol.

I hope for the former, I like the more scifi stuff, The gritty stuff has been done to death, And we need a TMNT movie that has the more scifi elements to it, Though TMNT 3 had time travel, which itself is scifi, But I like the stuff that's more otherworldly.

I hope for the former, I like the more scifi stuff, The gritty stuff has been done to death, And we need a TMNT movie that has the more scifi elements to it, Though TMNT 3 had time travel, which itself is scifi, But I like the stuff that's more otherworldly.

We've already gotten the sci-fi stuff. TMNT 2007 was really sic-fi. The inter-dimensional portals, stone generals and monsters and.... *sigh* ugh. lol. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Kevin Munroe actually tried to do something for the franchise, but that movie was so cheesy and forgettable. Terrible story.

Which is why maybe this new live action movie will do things right, since its borrowing from other elements.

Fichtner being signed on for two more films doesn't mean much if he isn't the true Shredder. I doubt he was paid enough for Paramount to "force" him in the sequel, that's probably not even been thought about yet.

:D Yes, and since ILM is doing the CGI, I can see these turning out pretty sweet.

I would imagine we would see a Justice Force team show up in future sequels, If the Turtles become well known in this world, It could probably inspired other people to become superheroes, Like that one dude from the Nick series.

I agree with you and love a more grounded film, however since their trying to make a trilogy I believe the Sci-Fi aspect helps that a lot more in stretching it out and creating a larger universe.

Well, the alien aspect is probably the only thing that the movie verse has yet to tackle. So, why not?

I can deal with minimal mutants, aliens, spirits and such...I just really don't want to see this world's versions of superheroes...I never liked seeing them in any version of the series truthfully. Honestly the only time superheroes in the Turtle-verse never bothered me was in the Image run of the series...and that's a horse of a different color there.

@warhorse I know, right? Mo-capped, massive aliens with a Triceratops head courtesy of a major effects guru, beating the crap out of the Turtles could look freakin sweet. Plus, kids still dig dinosaurs...

This is kind of my thoughts as well. If I want something more akin to the original Mirage run in a movie, I still have the original film. I mean the heavy sci-fi element from the comics has never been done on film, so why not go that direction.

Now, if we decide to veer into time-travel again...I want Renet, if she had been part of TMNT 3, I wouldn't have quite as much disdain for it...

thanks for sharing!...hmmm..really a lot of things to ponder about before we get to be exposed to new snippets from the actual film...
on topic, I would very much welcome the utroms in this film.I hope they would be portrayed like they were originally written in the eastman and laird books up to vol 4(which is where apart from the fourth or fifth issue of vol 1 you probably get the best view on them)...

your video makes me imagine THIS shredder to be very interested in the exploits of oroku saki, who once wore the mantle of the shredder and now this erich sachs is going to put it on...in my oppinion I think THIS is what he may talk about in the teaser when he says they had in mind to create heroes...I don't necessarily connect that sentence to the turtles at all.I mean it could be understood that way but I hope its deeper than that.he may be talking about their plans to establish the foot..or this paramilitary group, a special ops kinda operation who would not be 'bound' by the law..

hey guys, do you think we'll get a new trailer with cap II?or will they only be showing the teaser in theaters?
by the way, the turtles teaser has been on tv in the news in germany!everybody is hyped about the movie;)

To be fair, an actor don't really need to know what's going on with past versions or even what's beyond his part of the script, as long as he's an actor worth his salt, the character he plays will still look like he knows what is going on.

But, I don't think Ficthner was the best actor to interview if they wanted a clear picture on what to excpect compared to previous versions

I'm starting to think that the teaser was definitely misleading and they are in fact sticking close to the Mirage comics. With a few changes of course.

This is a summary from one of the early comics on how the Turtles came to be:

"As Leo questions the aliens' motives, a lone Utrom walks in and explains how they came to Earth. Twenty years ago their ship had crash landed and killed one third of their crew. The survivors managed to integrate themselves into American society thanks to their high tech android disguises. The crew took jobs and quickly amassed enough wealth to buy the building that would become their headquarters. The Utroms salvaged what material they could in effort to build their Translocation Device - the Transmat. Unfortunately while working on their machine, the visitors had an accident 15 1/2 years earlier. The Utroms were bringing the last load of supplies from their crashed ship to their abode when a blind man walked in front of their truck, causing them to swerve out of the way. This violent action dislodged a canister filled with alien ooze and it flew into the street, striking a young man in the head. The container continued to bounce down the street until it hit an aquarium full of turtles that a boy was holding, shattering it. The turtles and the canister fell into the sewers, where the reptiles were bathed in the strange glowing ooze. It was then that Splinter found them... and the rest is history. The Utroms finally managed to contact their homeworld and were asked to remain in New York to continue observation of the planet."

My theory (Speculation only): Eric Sachs is an Utrom. He IS Oroku Saki. After Hamato Yoshi escapes to New York with Splinter, Saki becomes an Utrom and disguises himself as an American (Eric Sachs) and follows him and kills him. April's father witnesses this along with seeing the Utroms and flees. Splinter follows him. He hijacks the Utroms van which is full of the ooze and Splinter sneaks inside and they take off. As young April is walking home from the pet store with 4 baby turtles, her father pulls up to get her but they are stopped by the Utroms. They crash the van and the turtles and the ooze falls down into the sewer. The Utroms kill Aprils father so he won't talk and then they take off. Then Eric Sachs shows up and takes April home with him. With nowhere to go, Splinter heads down the sewer to find the baby turtles and he finds them in the ooze. Years later, April has become a news reporter and she has a fascination with TCRI. She wants to learn the truth about her father. Later on when she meets the turtles and Splinter, Splinter explains to her that Sachs killed Hamato Yoshi. She confronts Sachs and that's when he gives her a B.S. story that he and her father were trying to create heroes. He tries to brand the turtles as bad guys so that the city will believe him and his nonsense as he tries to take over the city.

I really like the idea of a demonic spirit, something that had remained dormant until Sachs re-awoke it, with this being the true Shredder. Though, if they go the Utrom Shredder route, I really won't be upset.

On a side note, I remember seeing Leonardo decapitate Shredder in the 4Kids cartoon, and thinking how awesome that was. It was an instant I decided that I like Leo, who was always my least favorite, and the fact he didn't know Shredder was in fact a robot exoskeleton was pretty sweet.

I dunno. All this Utrom/alien/Dimension X business could be cool, and as true as it is to the comics and previous incarnations of the Turtles… I can't really see it happening in the first film of the reboot, from a marketing perspective.

From my own experience talking to people who I believe are the target demographic (people in their 20s and 30s who grew up with the Turtles but aren't serious fans), everyone is most familiar with the more "realistic" version of the Turtles from the first film series (okay okay, so SOTO and TMNTIII aren't exactly realistic, but they certainly didn't involve aliens/Utroms, and intensive sci-fi elements). The OT had these things, but that series seems to just be a warm, fuzzy childhood blur to people of my generation.

I just think that if the Utroms etc. are a major element in this film, it will seem to come totally out of left field to the majority of moviegoers not as familiar with the TMNT as we are, and could freak people out and be damaging to the potential franchise. I could see certain things being set up for a sequel, but I don't think they're going to knock us over the head with it.

Although this theory doesn't explain the existence of the Blue Door script…

If it's a twist at the end on not a plot point through the film, it could happen.

The thing with Thanos was that he was a different story. To get down to brass tax, he wasn't suppose to be a main villain in the Avengers and was a mid credits sort of deal. Sure. Loki was working for him, but still, The Guardians Of The Galaxy will be a different story since his role will be larger in it. Unlike the size of his from The Avengers.

How the hell does a human "become an Utrom"?

I don't think he meant he becomes an utrom. Likely, the Utrom was using an Oroku Saki suit when he was living in Japan and had his confrontation with Yoshi, and moved into an Eric Sachs suit when he relocated to New York. Possibly because the Saki suit had criminal baggage associated with the identity, he figured switching to the Sachs suit would make it easier to maintain the persona of a benevolent philathropist.

It was more with a fantasy touch. I wan't more hard science fiction elements, relying on technology rather than myths.

Utroms are cool, allowing the stories to use extraterrestrials. But since they use robots disguises, it can still take place much in the shadows (which TMNT is supposed to do, but most versions sometimes seem to care less for that).

4 Turtle, 2 Utroms and Shogun-Krang on the Shredder scroll.
My theory:

in Feudal Japan Krang and Shredder (Utrom) were enemies. Shredder had an army of people, turtles and Utroms. He defeated Krang.

Present Day. Shredder learned that Krang will be back soon on the Technodrome. Shredder created Foot and he wants to recreate invincible warriors-cappa (turtles) using mutagen. But the experiment goes badly. April's father turns into a rat. Turtles teach martial arts, but they like children, and Shredder gets rid of them. Turtles and Splinter lives in the sewers.

Don't forget the little dudes fighting with/against the Turtle men that are the same size as Splinter is said to be in this movie.

Someone asked Brad Fuller (one of the producers) on Twitter whether Krang will appear in the film and this was his response: I can't tell you that - and you don't really want me to.

It means that Krang IS in the movie and you don't want to be spoiled

OR

It means Krang ISN'T in the movie and you don't want to be disappointed.

Basically this. However, if he category is not in the film, why not just say so. Surely he realises that giving a response like that would just get the person who asked the question thinking? Of course, that could be his intention.

That's it as well.

It's a mixture of the above and NOT being able to say much of anything about the movie except for the basic "non-answers" to interview questions.

Things like plot details, possible character inclusions, spoilers.

For a good example of this, look at Marion Cotillard's interviews during the lead up to the release of The Dark Knight Rises.

Everyone and their f*cking mother knew that the character she was playing was either ACTUALLY Talia Al Ghul or heavily inspired by Talia Al Ghul. But she kept denying it, over and over again.

Hell there were even set photos of her wearing similar tunics to the LoS coming out of a building escorted by LoS members to one of the stolen Tumblers.

It was entirely obvious the entire time(and once that fact became obvious, her inevitable betrayal became obvious as well) but they kept denying it.

I wish somebody would ask one of these people if Hamato Yoshi is in this film. Just to see the answer.

If they give one of those "come on now" looks then you know he's not in it. Because it's not a spoiler, he's been included in one form or another in nearly all iterations of the Turtles since the beginning, so there's not reason not to answer truthfully unless he's not in it. It's something they SHOULD be able to answer, if they were going the properly adapted route and not putting their own "spin" on things.

Would be kind of missing the point since the reason the Turtles fight Shredder is because of Yoshi and Saki's Feud. Even in the OT even though it wasn't that big.

Well then their would be no movie without the sci fi there would be no turtles I think you missed what ninja turtles is about.

Seeing the potential for the Utroms to be included in the film has boosted the little enthusiasm I had about seeing the film. I actually said to a friend of mine a week or two ago that I thought Shredder may be Utrom after he said in the trailer about creating heros, as if he were behind the Mutagen.

No. I haven't. You're seeing only one side to it. Just look at Steve Barron's Turtles. No Utroms. And it was still the complete essence of Turtles. I think you missed a huge, iconic representation of the Turtles from 1990.

Technically Barron's film followed more along the Mirage comics first issue storyline.

No Utroms in there either. ;)

While I more or less agree with you (some things were still way off in the movie), whether or not there's Utroms actually seen or IN the movie the virtue of the Turtles' very existence introduces a fairly prevalent sci-fi element. It's right there in the title.

I meant there were no Utroms in the movie, but since it was following the first issue of Mirage, nothing about the film necessarily indicated Utroms weren't in that continuity either.

Until Secret of the Ooze, of course.

A part of me think SOTO might have been better had they kept the Utroms in. I mean the reason they left it out was they didn't want to confuse people about krang, But really Krang wasn't the only of his race was he? So if they has a good Utrom and maybe mention krang it could have been great.

Nothing in SOTO really makes it impossible for the Professor to be an Utrom. Sadly the reveal never happens, but he still could have just been one the whole time without anyone knowing.

Actually that was the plan, i read somewhere Pete's letters to someone but they went another direction. For me that was the worst part of original movies, lack of any turtle villains. Campy tone wouldn't bother me that much if they just gave me some good villains...

Oh, very interesting. I hope there is Utroms/Krang in this movie series. It would be cool if the ending was a cliff-hanger to an impending invasion.

That video clip about Shredder sounds like Eric becomes the next Shredder...as in theres been multiple Shredders since the originals defeat, but then what about Karai? Either way sounds exciting.

Thanks! This will make for a good read!

Anyway… one main concern is that the second (and any subsequent) movie stay as much away from the cartoon show, and as close to the original black and white comics, as the first movie did. We don't want to see Bebop and Rocksteady, or Krang, or any of the other goofy characters. We feel that there is plenty of material in the black and white books to form the basis for another good movie.

Oh.... >_o
