There has been some discussion about the different Time Travel uses throughout Turtleland, but I've never come to the conclusion which one is best. Decide if the various Mirage travels, the 4kids which used a mix of Mirage and its own Fast Forward, the OT with a couple Time Travel episodes, the third movie, Archie, or even Turtles in Time: the video game. Nick or IDW hasn't used these yet, but I've listed other in case even that covers any fanfiction. Think of the supporting characters, equipment used, and realism with regards to the story.

Definitely not Fast Forward imo.
I'd say TMNT3. That time scepter got stuck in my head all this time, and it's amusing to see Mikey trying to cook pizza in ancient japan's kitchen. The whole adventure is amusing too.

I chose Mirage. I believe the scepter started with the Cerberus crossover with Renet and Servanti Romero. Imagine how much better having a giant transforming Servanti Romero might have helped the third movie feel more like a sequel to the secret of the ooze.
Plus in issue 32 where the turtles are sent the time cube and keep getting different costumes or change their forms to resemble the time period they enter was very awesome IMO.
I almost picked Turtles in Time but felt it was too much of a one off adventure that didn't offer much in terms of follow up time travel stories. Best game ever just not the best for making additional time travel stories.
Great topic idea by the way.

I think the Archies Series version had the Best Time Travel, It was called the Future Shark Trilogy. The Future Turtles going to present day looking for there younger selves, To help rescue the other Future Turtles.
And it was 100 years in the future, And it was bleak, The polar ice caps melted, causing half of NYC to be flooded in Water, The Future Turtles were forced to live on high rise buildings.
They fought mutants from the future named Verminator X, & Armaggon. Future Raph even punches Hitler.
Someone years ago made a motion comic style fan audio of that storyline, It was word for word from the comic pages.

I`ll go with the third movie too.
It is fun, has a good written story and good elements, like Raph & Yoshi and the whole Kappa thing. :D

I voted for mirage b/c it's my favorite series. I do think that the future shark trilogy was as good as anything that mirage did. That was the best story from the archie series in my opinion.

I went with TMNT III, as well. It was the most down-to-earth time-travel idea, without a lot of "out-there" demons, over-powered beings, and other such stuff. It's just the scepter itself, and some confusion about them being "kappa". Simple and direct. Plus, the story was much deeper than most think, and had several side-plots that I thought made it very sweet and touching. The mechanics were never fully explained, but didn't need to be, and it left things open enough for a possible future sequel, though it's a shame it was never followed up on.

OT hands down, They got to meet King Arther of the round table. How much cooler can that be?

That wasn't time-travel, Shredder woke up Arthur when he attempted to steal Excalibur. That entire episode took place in present-time. Hokum was in the time-travel one.

The Video Game. If that was turned into a live action movie, or even a Feature Length Animated Film, it would have been a very fun time.

Shredder woke up Arthur when he attempted to steal Excalibur.
Or more, his spirit.
The Sherlock Holmes episode, however, is a cool time travel episode.

Definitely not Fast Forward imo.
I actually enjoyed Fast Forward, which is a big reason that I'm voting for the 4Kids series.
I'm gonna go with Turtles in Time, even though Mirage did it really well, the game is the most fun i've had with something both turtles related and time travel related.

It's actually a bit hard to decide for me as I like Mirage's a lot but it also has some pretty massive black marks on it (vol 4 April, assuming that counts?). I do like the turtles living in the distant past for a few months for example, and Renet is an interesting character in some non-conventional ways.
Fast Forward was good too in it's own ways, many of the turtle's reactions to future society seemed quite authentic and understandable. It has it's highs and lows. Same as it Never Was would also fall into a time travel episode, of course.
Turtles in Time rules, but the time travel was pretty much just there for themed levels, they don't really do anything with it.
Movie III's scepter is a neat prop, but of course the movie itself is of questionable quality. A wasted opportunity, maybe.
Archie's arc is pretty cool, but ultimately was kind of left unfinished still to this day despite many attempts to revive a finale.
One thing I find interesting is that time travel in TMNT almost never very much cares about the potential for altering the past or such things. They just sort of go to times and places and do what they do and not worry about it. Having to live in prehistoric times for months was basically treated like a vacation, and it's sort of nice to see a franchise that will treat time travel in this way instead of the usual butterfly effect unforeseen consequences nightmare it is generally presented as.

I'd actually love it if the new mini series for the IDW incarnation touched on them meeting their feudal era selves, or maybe watching themselves get executed from the shadows. They actually have the opportunity to explore what time travel could do with themselves on that.

Mirage, all those time travels issues were fun and weird and awesome. Turtles in time is fun but it makes no damn sense how they were thrown through time.
Masks is probably my fave 2 part Mirage issue and it even gives the humble origin of the Foot Clan.

Cool...Archie's probably the one I know best, but Mirage has some good bits as well.

I always found it odd that Krang's dimensional portal itself wasn't capable of opening doorways to different time periods.

It's just a videogame (mixing TMNT universes), not a particular universe. Plot isn't important, just cool butt-kicking arcade action.

I think I had a fun time with the third film, I love the 4Kids series but that was probably my least favorite arc of the series :ohwell:

I've actually got to go with 4Kids on this, as I really like the implied recursive element of Donatello helping found April's company with technology reverse-engineered from the future.
Plus, how fun was that episode with the Back to the Future III that had Donatello and Splinter writing a letter to the other Turtles one-hundred years in the future? As basic a gag as that is, none of the other versions have really taken advantage of things like that.
Mirage, while it's far and above my favorite series, never did much for me with its time-travel elements (which were almost exclusively related to Renet). Very, very occasionally, they were used to hit an emotional beat, but by and large any time Renet or Savanti Remero show up, they're comic relief, and not much is made of the time-traveling besides a different setting.
TMNT Adventures would be an easy second.
