Notice to Moderators: I post this with some trepidation... This does have the potential to spiral out of control. I understand if it gets deleted quickly as a result of that.

I had mentioned it elsewhere and a few people thought it sounded like an interesting idea, so let's give it a try.

So we all know there are people on this forum who love the look of the new movie and there are people who hate it. It's pretty divisive and the disagreements can get downright gritty sometimes.

Well, the purpose of this thread is to SWITCH YOUR GEARS!

Are you eagerly anticipating the movie and can't wait to see it?
Then your job here is to post what you are unhappy with or wish they weren't doing, wish they had changed.

Are you dreading everything about this and think it's a stinky piece of cheese waiting for Rifftrax to get their hands on it?
Then your job here is to post what you actually LIKE about what you've seen so far.

I'll get this ball rolling.

I'm still really leery about the film overall, however....

I was really happy from day 1 when I heard Will Arnett was playing Vernon. I think he's going to be great and could even steal a scene or two.

I think the snow chase scene from the trailer looks pretty damn cool (yeah, I think Raph vs Hummer is over the top, but that's Hollywood action movie, just look at John McClain vs the Fighter Jet).

I actually really like Leo's shoulder guards and piece-meal bracers on his wrists, even if I'm not a fan of the chest armor and leg gear.

I like the kanji on Don's bandanna. Not sure if they all have some on their masks or not. Don't think I've seen it on the others, but it's a cool addition.

While I don't like the design OF the faces, I do like the quality of the CG so far. Knowing it's still not 100% finalized, it looks believable within the scenes and not too "perfect" which I felt The Hobbit suffered from for its orcs.

I do like the "just a mask" joke itself. Seems like goofy Mike humor and I think his voice is just dead on perfect for him.

Even if the movie were to bomb, I'd still secretly want the teaser posters framed in my house.

And, for now, last but not least: DESPITE not being happy with Shredder being changed to Eric Sachs and Oroku Saki being replaced by a white actor.... AT LEAST HE ISN'T THIS:

http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120716182508/villains/images/a/a0/Baraka_%28MK9%29.JPG

Because dammit, Colonel Schrader was just the biggest waste of space on the Blue Door Script's pages. It was Shredder without any remote use of the character Shredder. :x:tgrumble::tmad:

Every one know IM loving Just about everything but i can admit there are little things that bug Me

Though I do say Its not worth dwelling on and once i write these down im over them and can get past them but here it goes, To be fair atleast

I baffles me when people Tried out for April like Anna Kendrick, and the Olsen Sister, who look and seem to fit the role so much better

I dont like what they Did to Danny Its a shame

While also Not really Liking Danny's casting choice his Voice was just to high pitched,

I dont like Donnie so bogged down, by stuff i like hes smart and techy but hopefully there is less, maybe

I dont like how this looks like it might be a Raph centric Movie Please lets not do this again,

While i do like the turtle van I also do not like that it looks so new From the Set photo it does seem out of place hopefully this is addressed maybe.

Wish they Put the poster out Sooner, and wish i could get my hands on them too

Looks like fun, I´ll try it.

Normally I`m Pro-new-movie, but.....

- Megans faint is horrible
- To much muscles
- Why did donny build a rocket-skateboard for mikey?
- Dons outfit (he looks like a walking laboratory)
- Isn`t the turtle-bus a little to small?

just a few points :P

I'm very much against this movie, but here's my positives:

Will Arnett was born to play Vernon. Perfect casting is perfect.
I like the design of the turtle van. It's actually been simplified from the original design, and I think it works quite well.
I think there's a lot of potential in the rocket skateboard. There's a chance it might wind up looking silly if the film turns out to be too serious, but it could also be an indication that this film isn't going to take itself too seriously, and I hope that is the case.
The design for the turtle lair looks good, based on what we've seen.
I'm happy to see Karai finally in a live action film.

I'm really excited for this movie and I find pretty much everything great but:

I'm concerned about the foot clan as a militia, I hope it's pulled off well. The gun trotting foot hasn't sat well with me yet.

Although I like the idea of Donny having wearable tech I thinks it's a little too much.

I also think this is a really good thread as long as it doesn't blow up into attacking each other as every other thread seems to do...

Well, I'm pretty Negative about the film and have already stated it dozens of times as to why.

So, something Positive?

Well...because of this film, we'll have a good book like The Ultimate Visual History Book on the Ninja Turtles. Some features on Ninja Turtles 2 and 3 on the overseas DVD's. And perhaps finally the release of that Turtle Power Documentary.

Those are Good, Positive things which is (probably) thanks to this movie. I like that stuff so far. That's all I got.

Im pro TMNT 2014 so I should post my negatives...should I also blow them out of proportion and create a bunch of memes to show how its the worst thing evAR? Hey gotta be authentic right?

Im sorry. It was the perfect setup.

Ok negatives, Turtles are wearing a little too much clothing. Splinter looks kinda small (is there a different view besides the toys and trailer shot?). Since Nick owns them, there might be some really stupid humor for the tweens.

I don't know, thats all I got.

I'm excited to see this movie but a couple of things i'm negative about,

Megan Fox as April and worried she get a lot more screentime than the turtles.

Worried that it could be Raph centric movie.

I like the turtles designs but too much clothing on the turtles.

I can't see this movie till October because i'm worried that i'll see lots of spoilers before it comes out.

Michael Bay is involed in this movie.

There's another positive for me, actually. I like Splinter being so short/small. The turtles were about 5-5'5" in the comics and he was smaller than them. So while it will be even more of a height difference with them being tall, I do like him being very short.

Also, others reminded me, I forgot about the turtle van. I agree it should look more hodge podge put together and beat up, but I do like the design. I wonder if the roof opens and can eject them into the air! ;)

#6. I wish the film was longer than 87 minutes if its the true length of the film. I'd like it to be at least a 2 hour long film but that's just me.

I have to think that's speculation based on previous TMNT films, but Transformers, let's face it...blockbuster Bay film made so Hasbro could reignite their toy line.... was 2 hours.

So I think 2 hours is quite likely for TMNT. The Blue Door script would come in at about 2 hours-ish, so I can't imagine them cutting it down too much.

I can't see this movie till October because i'm worried that i'll see lots of spoilers before it comes out..

Two months of avoiding the forum for you. :(

I'm staying optimistic for this movie for now, so I'll post my negatives. Most of these are just prefrences, that I have now accepted and gotten over, but some I'm still disappointed about.

1.) The casting of Megan Fox over Jane Levy (who was also up for the role).

2.) Drastic change of origin, with a white Shredder, no Japenese storyline, and no Hamato Yoshi (however, this movie may have an interesting twist I may like)

3.) Clothing, tech, armor, puka she'll beads, sun glasses, and more tech. Separating the turtles by what they are wearing is a cool thought, but they go way over the top here. I would rather see their personalities come out in the PERSONALITIES rather than the visuals (which we may get, I don't know)

4.) The new look and the 'bigger and better' size. Personally, I prefer my turtles to have more if a traditional look, and smaller than the average human, so their ninjutsu skill can really shine through, instead of just being "mini Hulks".

5.) We haven't seen any ninjutsu yet, so there's no proof that there will be any (however, as Samxsteal pointed out, they have some super talented stunt people)

The only thing I truly don't like are the faces, I guess when someone like me who likes my heroes to be aesthetically pleasing, this minor nitpick holds more weight for me than most.

But everything else, I have actually liked.

For starters. I liked that the entire story is going to be new, so I won't be stuck with my head resting on my hand for a 1/4 of the movie hearing the same story being rehashed.

The snow plunge does look sweet. And I am liking that the Turtles are big. When I used to write stories or draw, I always had them 6 feet (they just never quite stopped growing during their stint on Fred Wolf in my mind )

I love William Fichtner, he's actually one of my favorite under the radar actors out there (along with Chris Cooper, Andre Braugher, Will Patton and Michael Rooker) So, I'm happy he's in a Ninja Turtle film.

I've always liked Megan Fox, so I don't mind her being April. I wouldn't have minded other actresses to play April either, and right now, my favorite picks were Adrianne Palicki, or if they were going to go the younger route, definitely Chloe Grace Moretz.

If Raph is the focal point of this movie, ALRIGHT! I don't mind at all. He's my favorite you know. And more than likely, if there is a sequel, expect Casey Jones to be in the next one (can't believe Michael Bay passed up someone like Jones in this movie to begin with) and Raphael will probably be the focal point in that one too.

I am on the neagative side so here are my psotives

i actually like splinters voice from the trailer we got, it had a very optimus prime vibe

i dont mind will arnett,he is one of my face actors

while i dont like the white shredder i can not deny fitchner plays a villain/douche/bad guy well

the teaser posters are pretty awesome

I like the kanji on Don's bandanna. Not sure if they all have some on their masks or not. Don't think I've seen it on the others, but it's a cool addition.

i LOVE the kanji on the mask...it makes me happy if they keep something from this movie in all future turtles i hope its this..and while i havent seen it on the others i hope they all have it

I'm very much looking forward to this movie. Although I am a bit concerned about the Turtle's sizes. Doesn't really scream ninja to me. I am concerned that the Turtles might not be the main focus of the film.

That said though, I like the Turtle's designs. The trailers were also very cool.

Bring it on!:D

Things I like:
Shredder and Splinter fight.
The Foot and Shredder basically launch a military operation to break in the lair.
I like the dark tone and vibe so far.
Leo's katanas look AWESOME.
The Scroll intrigues me and definitely has a reason for being there.
The Turtles seem super strong. I like how they toss around The Foot.
Supposedly we get to see inside Shredder's dojo.
Raph looks like he's going to hand a few beat-downs out.

Probably a few more I'm forgetting.

Slight sidebar, but that's kind of why I don't want Raph to be the focal point of the movie (AGAIN). Because when Casey gets introduced, I feel like Raph should be in the main spotlight for that movie.

I don't want TMNT to be "Raphael and the X-Men" for the entire run of the film franchise. I think each of them should be a bit of a stand-out in each film or it should be heavily balanced team-based like Avengers pulled off rather well.

I'm hoping the Raphael solo-movie section is minimal and it doesn't take too long for him, April, and Vernon to rescue the others. Since it's a story about family and brotherhood, and them as a team, it shouldn't spend too much time with them not as a team and I'm hoping it doesn't. :)

Although, this is something to expect in a Hollywood blockbuster, it's not always something we get. But, I do like that the turtles look like they are a part of the live-action shots, it's not just CGI slapped ontop of the footage like a sticker. They look for the most part well integrated and well lighted, and they have a sense of weight to them given their size. They don't look like they float without any weight.

The animation also looks very nice, the small details like moving beads and such are very well executed and it does look like the animators have done their part of the work by actually tweaking and polishing the Mo-Cap animation.

The Turtles eyes do look a bit small, but besides that they look very realistic, nice caption of light and movement.

The best feature on the turtle models gotta be their hands. that is something I've felt the previous Live-Action movies have lacked a bit on, as the fingers look a bit less realistic and not as well articulated. The PD Turtles hands are very nicely detailed and look like actual hands and move very much like hands.

The texture job is very well done, the colors are a bit dull and unimaginative, but they have almost always been that way, being in a single green color skin, but the bump mapping is mighty fine.

Things that I like? Let's see:

- Seeing a Splinter Vs. Shredder fight on the big screen is gonna be cool

And I think that's pretty much it.

I don't think this movie will suck in every aspect, but I'm pretty sure it will be mediocre at best, and a letdown as a tmnt fan. Kinda like how the first Judge Dredd movie had nothing to do with Judge Dredd, and otherwise wasn't too bad, but mediocre.

So here's what I like:

- Ugly realistic turtles. Yes, I'm serious, I think a giant mutated lizard (turtle) should be somewhat ugly, I think they were somewhat ugly in Mirage #1, and I think it was cool, and I was also curious how they would look in a more realistic way, like with nostrils. They're pretty nice actually, especially Leo. (Tho Mikey's face is terrible.)
- They kept April's fainting moment. :P
- Karai's in the movie.
- They use mocap and possibly good martial artist/choreographers for the scenes, so it will likely has some better fight scenes than the classic (1990) movie.

Can't think of much else......

Things I don't like

-No Oroku Saki (as far as we know).
-Typical Michael Bay easy jokes.
-Shredder looks like a Gears of War villain.
-The Foot being a branch of al-Qaeda.
-Looks like they overdid everything just a bit.
-Way too much going on with Donnie and Shredder. I think simple=better in this case.
-Whoopi Goldberg? I bet she calls Mikey a wigger.
-General lack of advertising, getting an audience excited.
-The trailers are okay. But, a lot of people (average movie-goer) still have no clue what the movie is about. Just that it looks cool.
-That Mikey one liner gives me doosh chills. Should have ended it with Leo.
-Splinter sounds like Carl Winslow.
-Urkeltello

I'm probably forgetting a few things but even with those negatives to me, I'm still looking forward to it. I'm allowed to nitpick if I want to lol

I'm still having one foot on each side of the "leery" and "stoked" boarder, but I'm putting a bit more weight on the "stoked" side, so here's my biggest peeves with this movie so far:

1. All tho I like Fichtner as an actor, I have a bit of trouble with him as the Shredder. I find it an odd choice and I'm curious to how they'll make it work (if they do at all)

2. I do not like Megan Fox as an actor, unfortunately (she seems like a nice girl, tho) and I'm not thrilled she is going to be portraying our April.

3. The foot seems to army-based for my taste so far, we'll see if that's the case all through the film.

4. I'm getting used to the turtles new appearance, but particularly Donny is just drowned in gadgets and gear! I do think all of them have too much unnecessary stuff on them. Even Raph who has the most modest attire has all kinds of bands and bandages that has no reason for being there.

BabyTurtles
05-11-2014, 03:53 PM
well since I'm pretty happy so far I guess I should list my negatives

-I'm still not really sure about Megan Fox playing April....
-I hope that Raph isn't the main star in the film, but it seems like it.
-I love the designs, but I think Donnie's glasses and Raph's sunglasses are going a little far...

that's all I got so far ^_^

Negatvies:

I hate that turtles look like such Dude Bros.

The turtles are way to big and the amount of crap on them is just compensation.

Megan Fox, her face, just ugh...

Harry Sach, i don't get it.

Foot military, this one's obvious.

I don't like how overexagurated everything is, reminds me of that crappy J.J Abrams Star Trek movie.

and this is just scratching the surface.

Positives:

I like splinter's design.

I like the collors.

i like that we finally get to see Karai in Live action.

aaand that's pretty much it

You know, stuff like this is what gets these threads locked. Will you please stop.

And hey, looking at your gif, I think most TMNT fans adapt well to change. Fred Wolf Raph was actually a happy, joking kind of guy, not the brooding, angsty type we have now, and well, that's the Raphael most people do like now!

April has gone from reporter, to scientist, to art dealer, to kid and now back to a reporter, and the majority took it in stride.

We have gone from Splinter being Master Yoshi, to being a pet of Master Yoshi, a few times now, no biggie.

Shredder has gone from Oruko Saki working for Krang, Shedder being Saki having an empire, Shredder being an alien impersonating an ancient Saki, and in the same cartoon, Shredder being played by Karai, and now, Shredder is back to Saki, working with aliens again.

We're pretty good at adapting to change. Just because some of us don't like certain things don't make us elitist snobs.

As for the movie, so far it doesn't comes off as your garden variety Micheal Bay movie, imo. I'm just waiting for the eventual minority characters being shown dignity and humanity and the U.S. military won't be brown nosing

- Potential Utrom Shredder. The distasteful, disrespectful merging of Shredder and Krang by Peter Laird int he 2k3 show was one of the only moments in the entire franchise (Venus included) that I actually despised, and felt was flippant to the characters we knew them to be. Not a tweak, not an updating. Totally squashed two characters. Maybe it was the execution, Laird is a hack on his own, corny as can be ... maybe if it's in the film it will be pulled off more convincingly, and less cheesy.

... we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I thought this addition to the 2003 show was amazing, I don't think it was sloppy, I believe Ch'rell and Krang are two WAY different characters, that it wasn't a 'merge' of the two, and that Laird has done many great things to and for the franchise/fans.

Not trying to start an argument, but the 2003 fan in me saw this and I knew I had to say something.

its no secret that I am on the 'stokesd' side of things, but I would lying if i said i didnt have my fair share of complaints.

- I do not like the idea of having a Raph-centric film...reading an interview with the writers, they talk about how the film keeps true to the core of the turtles, meaning, brotherhood, and responsibility, and as nice as that sounds, all that says to me is that Raph is gonna storm off po'd, realize he lost his cool, come back with his tail inbetween his legs, finds his brothers gone, rescues them, and apologizes for his behavior...blah, blah, blah...has already been done before, with just slight variations to the same storyline.

- being a gadget-phile myself, I can totally relate to Donnie wanting to having his tech available at all times, but I think he proton pack is excessive, and ultimately goes against his ability to function as ninja. in future iterations, i hope this gets streamlined.

- in an interview, William Fitchner stated that his character goes through several evolutions during the course of the film, which leads me to believe we are in fact getting Utrom Shredder - what i dont like? that fact that it seems like they've removed/dismissed his Japanese roots. while Fitchner is a good actor, I would have love to seen a strong Japanese actor behind the wheel.

- Jonathan Liebsman - hasnt said a word about this whole thing. He is tasked as director, supposedly in charge, and yet the only people who have said anything about his production for the past several months, into a year, has been Bay, Arnett, and Fox. and Arnett and Fox, dont even give us anything substantial. just fluff.

- I want to see some action, actual, hand to hand, weapon to weapon, based combat. Im trying to be patient telling myself, they are setting us up slowly, but one kick, one flip, to show me they are doing this right. just one.

- while i have nothing against Fox, I would have preferred to see a more competent actress behind the wheel. Fox admitted herself (during her interview with Ellen) that she told the producers "you can hire a more believable reporter, but not a bigger fan" - when i heard her say that I was like, WHAT?!?! Shoot, cast me then, Im a huge fan...is that all it takes? I thought actors were based on their ability to act, silly me.

- again, trying to be patient, but their marketing sucks. they keep releasing photos of April on their official FB account-and I keep thinking to myself, WTF?! I hate, hate, hate the way the Transformers are marketed....whenever i check popular website, i see stories titled, check out a new still from the upcoming Transformers, I click the link and there are NO FREAKING ROBOTS anywhere in the picture, just Marky Mark, and the girl who ruined The Last Airbender, staring at something off screen. Same with the Turtles - its always Fox staring, and gasping at something off screen. SHOW ME WHAT SHE IS LOOKING AT!

Wow, this thread is more turning out to be better than I thought it would.

I'm glad that it's remaining so civil, and it illustrates how both sides of the "argument" can actually understand each other. :tgrin:

As a cynical "hater", here's what I like:

* The set design looks great, from what we've seen of it so far. I'm not one to really like most recent Hollywood Blockbuster films, but one thing I can appreciate in many of them, is amazing set design. And TMNT is no exception! The shots of the lair look great, the mystical Mural Scroll is well done, and raises mysterious questions.

* The CGI of the turtles so far looks really good. I might not care for the designs, but I do like how far the technology has come! I was afraid of "roger rabbit" but i'm actually surprised on how great it looks. The attention to detail in the hands and fingers, and the skin textures look really impressive.

* The Mysterious Wall Scroll/mural i mentioned earlier. That was the first thing i've been excited about in this whole film since the announcement. Peering over my desk at work and trying to discern any bit of information from those blurry screengrabs. (unfortunately, i can't post as much as i'd like since i'm usually lurking at work, and my home PC is on life support) but i was right there with everyone trying to figure out just what was going on in that "Where's Waldo" painting and debunking the "official" prop that was totally different from what we saw in the trailer.....yeesh! Look at how much i'm going on about this thing, it just shows how excited i am about figuring it out and what it all means.

* The casting choice of Will Arnett is great! I'm not keen on the script re-write leaning towards the Fred Wolf canon, but if Will hams up that sniveling attitude with that snotty, 80's preppy voice.....it would be brilliant!

will not be seeing this movie, I actually plan to order a spicy Hawaiian pizza and watch the first 2 Jim Henson movies and the OT mini series the night it comes to theaters instead. I think the turtles don't look at all how they should the nostrils, lips, eyes, heads, cheeks, costumes, height, masks all of it looks wrong to me.

What I like

Mikey's voice sounds great.
It looks like the action will be very fast paced and intense.
Shredders armor looks like a nice modern sci-fi update.

I honestly think playmates is putting out so much great stuff this year because they know this movie isn't what the older or even younger fan base really wants.... so that's a positive to this movie perhaps.

I like the casting of the turtle actors, and the voices for the turtles we have heard so far, only missing Leo, just have to wait for the next trailer to hear how Knoxville sounds as Leonardo. Fisher's voice is great.

Live action Karai, I am stoked about that part. And she is played by a "older" women in Hollywood standard, I'm really glad they didn't hire a 20 something and went with a woman who is 40.

Leonardo using actual katana, a curved sword and not the fake ninja Ken straight bladed sword. But, I am a bit disappointed they went back to two katana instead of a proper short sword and long sword combo, like proper Niten Ryu. But, since Leo have been using that for the majority of the franchise, I can't fault the movie studio too much on it. But, I do like the Tsuba on Leo's katana, seen on the poster.

Megan Fox is my biggest gripe with this whole thing so far.

And despite really digging the new designs, I wish they had pronounced Mikey's nose just a little bit more, similar to what they did with Leo and Don, because it looks like his mask barely fits over it.

I think we haven't really seen the Turtles yet. We've seen Leo and Mikey, we've seen each turtle for brief seconds but we really haven't seen them together or in action for that matter. Sure Megan Fox's acting is as bland as they come but we are just going to have to

http://i.imgur.com/RNNRQJg.gif

Until I see a longer trailer with more than mere seconds of Turtle and Splinter footage I'm still in the undecided group but I'm leaning towards positive.

My opinion could easily sway, next trailer could be absolute crap for all I know but until then my opinion will stay the same.

Ive been a stoked person for this film since i heard it was coming out. I guess these are the things that would make me leary.....

Donnie wearing glasses....
Megan fox as april, even tho its not as bad to me as it is for most people.
The lack of hand to hand martial arts weve seen in the trailers.
3 trailers and they are all basicly the same.
And i know that this isnt official yet but if the movie really is only 89 min then ill probobly lose all hope....not sure why this one is such a big issue for me, but all i can think of is the 07 movie and its run time and its lack of story and fight time....oh and the biggest one...im affraid this movie will be raph centered and id perfer a movie where they all have as much screen time as the others...i dont think id want any film based soley on one turtle cuz imo tmnt works better with the chemistry of all four turtles playing off one another. Even tho there has been some good solo stories in the franchise none of them compares to the best storys where all four are envolved....but thats just me.....:D

Wow. Reading all of the "negative" feelings about this film posted by those members who are excited about this film goes to show that we are all, more or less wary of the same things. It's just those who are leery are more vocal in their disdain of the choices made by the studio.

I don't wanna speak for everyone, speaking out against the decisions in this film so vocally is only because I wanted and expected better. Something deeper and more meaningful and given the respect the Turtles truly deserve after 30 years of kicking Foot ass. Not just a by the numbers Hollywood movie.

Obviously she's a gorgeous young woman, but what Megan Fox did to her face so prematurely was alarming. The bloatedness, stiffness, too much botox. She was so beautiful naturally. You can see the stiffness in her expressions in the scene with Mikey.

Negative stuff, hu? well:

*Just judging from the trailer it's pretty obvious that instead of remaking the TMNT universe they're more interested in trying to make some kind of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy rip-off, minus Nolan's talent, of course.

*This are the most hideous turtles ever. They look like a mix between Next mutation and Jim Lee's ugly and uninspired turtle designs; they look like mutated wrestlers on steroids. I mean just look at the teaser of Leo's hand holding his katana, the guard of the sword that is supossed to protect the fingers is tiny and useless
http://www.filmposter-archiv.de/thumbnails/2014/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-teaser-leonardo.jpg
But the faces took the cake: Human lips and noses? Are you kidding me? I have a clear idea of what the designer was watching (and liking ) when he decided that a ninja turtle should've look like that:
http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg112/annihilated_teufel/carasnuevastmnt.png

*The gear is a bunch of utterly random stuff that just don't make any sense, loincloths? a native american chest plate on Leo and a mexican hippie necklace on Mike? Really???

*Megan Fox and Whoopi Goldberg are bad actresses.

*Shredder is a middle aged white businessman.

*Besides Leonardo's stiff somersault, you don't see many ninjaesque stuff, but how are you supposed to be invisible and stealthy when you're a giant hunchback wearing lots of useless things? I have a feeling that scenes like that of Raphael slamming against a car and property destruction are gonna be the main action of the film.

*The masked goons look like modern versions of the "immortal" guys from 300.

*I don't think Mike's joke was funny, at all.

Raphael has kinda grown on me. Aside from his size I like him (and Leo, actually) design-wise the more I look at them.

And as Trick-or-Treater often mentioned, the Lair is pretty cool looking.

I am actually quite apathetic about this film despite often trying to argue the positives. Honestly, I like the visuals of the turtles, I don't have any real problems with him going with a more militia-esque type Foot, I am NOT a fan of Megan Fox however, I am very worried about the white Shredder, I do not like the fact that it seems very Raphael centric.

Truthfully, it seems to me that the positives and negatives seem fairly balanced, but at the end of the day, the most important thing seems to be present, from what little we've seen and that is that Michelangelo still seems like Michelangelo.

I love how this thread is going! :D This was a fantastic idea...

Okay, I'm on fence about the movie, so I'll post both sides...

I like *some* of the turtle design elements, especially Leo. It's the simplest 'wardrobe' of the four turtles, and very low-key, not distracting, and he doesn't have a ton of stuff hanging off him. Even the bamboo shades he turned into 'armor' are kinda neat...

We've had very little in terms of hearing the turtles and seeing their personalities. But I like Mike... he's definitely sounding like OUR Mikey.. :)

I like the little bit of CGI detail we've seen of the turtles from the trailers so far. I was hoping for high quality CGI similar to Davy Jones from POTC, and I'm very confident that we might be getting that. I will always love the Henson turtles, but this is pretty cool. The posters of the hands holding weapons is Very nice. I know, after reading what happened with LotR, how actors struggled to act while talking to light up styrofoam balls with names attached... I really hope they have a better time with this, where they have actual guys in mocap suits.

Okay, for my Leary category...

Mike's Shrek nose. He'd be much cuter with a nose like Leo. :P

The outfits of the other three turtles are fairly busy - I understand they need clothes to deal with temperatures, but Donnie the Ghostbuster and Mike with his sports athlete attire... they stick out like a sore thumb. And what are those loincloths hiding... :shifty:

Not that anybody would pay attention to that, considering the building shook when Leo landed on it. The turtles are HUGE! How can you be a ninja if you're breaking brick and mortar from doing a somersault? You can't tell me that Raphael, as hulk-sized as he is, can disappear into the shadows without a sound... :ohwell:

The lack of the Yoshi vs Saki turmoil - without the need to take revenge, what is the motivation to have the turtles learn martial arts? How did Splinter figure anything out if he's just a lab rat? He has no loving Master to seek revenge for... no Shen, either. :(

Having a non-Japanese Shredder just makes it fall flat, like some wannabe is running around in his suit. Unless they've got something sneaky up their sleeve, like possessed armor or something... I'm very leary of this.

Vernon as a sidekick/love interest for April... I really don't know about this. Casey's Always been her guy - April hated Vernon in the OT. It's like asking for a porterhouse steak, and ending up with day old meatloaf...

Splinter... the little flash of what we've seen isn't enough to make an opinion. I do like the voice so far, but the whole situation with Danny Woodburn sucks... :(

What I am Hopeful for...

- A real soundtrack with an amazing score. No 'band of the week', please... I'll bet ten to one that "Radioactive" from Imagine Dragons will be on it. Guaranteed.
- The strength of the family ties. Splinter's voiceover gives me hope that they'll be really close. The CGI movie from a few years back left me very cold...
- A real shocker moment with Shredder that will change my mind about Eric Sachs...

*goes back to sitting on the fence*

Hahaha, that'd be hilarious ... and kind of disappointing. It'd give me the same feel as the Phillip Phillips song for ASM2 :ohwell: (that part of the movie really turned me off, but I just want to say overall I really enjoyed it as a Spider-Man fan, and people should get their butts in the theatre and see it).

But, anyway, I'm hoping for this too, since soundtracks really set the tone for a movie and, well, I just really love listening to soundtracks (or, more specifically, scores). REALLY hoping it has Japanese influences, but since they (supposedly) took that all out of the story, I doubt it will.

*Megan Fox and Whoopi Goldberg are bad actresses.
For me, it depends on what Whoopi's role is. I expect it will be fairly small. And she's had some good roles in her career, so I don't think she's horrible. Though if we could have had this made a lot sooner, replacing her with Ed Asner as Bern would have been amazing. Because Lou Grant is still one of the most memorable TV roles I can think of (and he was a badass J.J. Jameson too). :D

I love how this thread is going!

Me too. I'm actually very pleased to see the responses. I feel like it kind of shows that while both sides overall disagree, there IS some common ground.

Vernon as a sidekick/love interest for April... I really don't know about this. Casey's Always been her guy - April hated Vernon in the OT. It's like asking for a porterhouse steak, and ending up with day old meatloaf...

It's seemed that Vernon is more sidekick, and I'm actually glad for no romantic angle this time (that we know of). Casey can be brought in later, but this could work.

Vernon is an experienced cameraman. He's comfortable with where he is in life and he's content doing fluff stories instead of going for the hard hitting stories. April, on the other hand, is young and still hungry to make a name for herself with a "big scoop" (if I can use the terminology she seemed to rely on in the cartoon).

- A real soundtrack with an amazing score. No 'band of the week', please... I'll bet ten to one that "Radioactive" from Imagine Dragons will be on it. Guaranteed.

Yeah, I hope they have a good soundtrack. I'm sure, however, it will have pop rock and rap on it. I wasn't impressed with the TMNT soundtrack and look at the Transformers films to get a feel of what to expect.

Generally, though, I prefer scores over soundtracks. But as dated as it is, some of the original film's soundtrack still amuse me. ;)

- The strength of the family ties. Splinter's voiceover gives me hope that they'll be really close. The CGI movie from a few years back left me very cold...

They have said that's the core of the movie, so we'll see how well they translate it. I liked the CG movie fairly well, though, so I may be more forgiving on this topic. We'll see. ;)

I don't think it has anything to do with Megan's self esteem so much as the industry she's in. She's in a place where she's constantly scrutinized. Photographers will scrutinize, make up artists, directors, every little detail. Nothing it good as it is, something has to be hidden, tweaked, airbrushed, etc. and after being told this or that should be done, or in X years this will happen so you should pre-emptively get some work....well, yeah, a lot of them do it.

I think it's a shame and it's shameful that we have a culture like that.

Then focus on symmetry instead. Her face is very symmetrical and it's a standard of beauty no matter were you're from.

But this thread is derailing, let's kill this pointless argument. More stuff I don't like about the movie (since I'm mostly leaning on the positive side):

1. The marketing could be better, I hope they get their act together!
2. The director seems to pretend he's invisible (which I can kind of understand, heh)
3. I wish the turtles were a little smaller, half a foot shorter and slightly sleeker would be enough for me.
4. I hope the part of the script we saw in the Visual History book was an earlier draft, cause it says Splinter was a lab rat and that indicates that they are going with the reincarnation-origin, which I'm not a huge fan of.

OK, while I am not a fan of the faces, I do like the full bandana on Raph. My best friend growing up was a child of Harley Davidson bikers, and it just brings back memories when the guys would be wearing full bandanas like that to keep the hair out of their faces when they were out for a ride.

I also like Mike's beads. He kind of reminds me more of a Bahamas surfer than a California one with them.

And I wonder, with the snow scene, I wonder if the Turtles will make a comment on if they are hot blooded or cold blooded, being in cold temps with hardly any clothes on.

Technically yes. She referred to Bay as being like Hitler in the sense that on set he worked everyone hard and was authoritarian.

From what has been said Bay himself wasn't mad or at least not enough to fire her but Steven Spielberg was and urged him to ditch Megan. I don't rate her as an actress but I thought it was kinda unfair. Look at all the dumb **** Shia Labouf(sp) did before he was gone and even then it's coated in a diplomatic way.

But Shia is Steven Spielberg's little buddy and can do no wrong.

Are you dreading everything about this and think it's a stinky piece of cheese waiting for Rifftrax to get their hands on it?
Then your job here is to post what you actually LIKE about what you've seen so far.
To post on topic since someone brought it back...

As already mentioned in another thread, while not caring for that they did with the models from the neck up (and think they can cut down on the steroid use), I do kinda like their clothing/gear.

And one thing I think they got very right are the eyes. My god, Leo can stare into your frigging soul.
