In the upcoming months, we will undoubtedly start seeing interviews from the cast and crew popping up. Instead of posting separate threads for each, I thought it would be cool to just make one thread where we can just post the interviews as they come in.

I think it goes without saying that comments on the interviews are ok but please try and stay on topic. There are many many interviews to come so please don't fight and argue and get this thread closed.

Anyway, first up: A new interview with Tony Shalhoub. He doesn't say much but he does say the movie will be spectacular.

And coming up -- I understand you're to be ... a turtle.

Yes, I'm voicing a character in the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie. I'd no idea how big a deal this was. Apparently ... according to people in their 20s and 30s, and my kids ... this is huge. It wasn't on my radar, I'm embarrassed to say. But from what I've seen, the movie is going to be spectacular.

Make of this what you will. I don't make anything out of this.

I guess the interviewer sisn't so the research there, or just worded it weirdly

As a TMNT fan, I'm disappointed in the interviewers more.

Alan Ritchson's 3 page interview had 2 questions related to TMNT.
This interviewer asks one question and barely more than "so you're doing a part in it, right?"

Shame on you, interviewers. :x

Kind of wish Tony had at least said he wasn't a turtle, but Splinter. Oh well.

It looks like they are under heavy embargo, they are forbiden to talk about it at all, which is kinda contra productive.

Yeah the Tony interview doesn't tell us anything but I just needed a new interview to start off this thread. I'm sure better interviews will come over the next two months

Its interesting that Tony Shalhoub didn't know about the Turtles, But heard from other sources that told him about it. Hopefully he does a good Splinter.

You should go ahead and link the Ritchson interview and just make this first post an ongoing collection of them.

No one, to my knowledge, has had an interview about TMNT. It's just something brought up while doing press for something else. So, no, the interviewer isn't going to be up-to-date on that side topic, and they probably won't say much about it.

Are Transformers or Guardians of the Galaxy actors doing press yet?

Here's an interview with Evan Daugherty (who came in for rewrites of the TMNT movie script): http://www.comicvine.com/articles/interview-celebrating-tmnts-30th-anniversary/1100-148776/

Here's an interview with Evan Daugherty (who came in for rewrites of the TMNT movie script): http://www.comicvine.com/articles/interview-celebrating-tmnts-30th-anniversary/1100-148776/
Here are the parts with Evan Daugherty
COMIC VINE: What is it about the franchise that gives it so much life and allows it to stand apart from the competition?

EVAN DAUGHERTY: I think the TMNT franchise has withstood the test of time because behind all of the absurdity of four mutant turtles doing martial arts, it has real heart and real characters. At its core, TMNT has always been about family, whether it's the brotherly relationship between the turtles, the father-son relationship between the turtles and Splinter, or the strange sort of family relationship that April forges with all of them. I think that's what separates TMNT from the pack.

CV: Has your "favorite turtle" changed over the decades?

ED: Without a doubt. When I was a kid, my favorite was either Leonardo or Michelangelo, depending on my mood. But as I grew up, I realized that Raphael was really the most interesting, tortured turtle of the bunch. So, Raph's definitely my new favorite.

CV: Why is now such a great time to be a TMNT fan?

ED: I grew up in the late 80s and early 90s, which was a great time to be a TMNT fan. But now may be even better: there's a successful and critically acclaimed animated series on Nickelodeon, as well as a big, fun, summer film coming out in August. Not to mention all the other transmedia content that people can consume. It's a great time to be a Turtle fan!

CV: What are you doing to celebrate its 30th anniversary?

ED: Good question. Maybe I'll bust out my old Subterranean Sewer Hockey playset and play a few rounds.

CV: Where do you think the franchise will be in 30 more years? Do you think The Next Mutation will be a cult classic and Venus De Milo becomes the most popular hero?

ED: I wouldn't even want to guess. But something tells me if it's lasted 30 years, it will easily last another 30. The franchise seems to live beyond a particular time and place. It has managed to capture the imaginations of subsequent generations, and I think it will continue to do so!

CV: Who's your favorite TMNT villain and why?

ED: It's hard to beat Shredder and Krang, but I'm going to delve deeper into the TMNT rogue's gallery and pick… the Rat King. The idea of a human living in the sewers who can telepathically communicate with and control an army of subterranean rats is really terrifying and really awesome.

CV: Do you have a favorite TMNT video game?

ED: I'm going retro, and I'm going with a tie… between the original TMNT arcade side scroller that I wasted hundreds of quarters on in various pizzerias and shopping mall arcades throughout the early '90s… and the original TMNT game for NES.

CV: What about a favorite comic book issue or TV episode?

ED: The original animated series is often maligned, sometimes rightly so, but it was my first introduction to the TMNT franchise, so I've got to go with the first five episodes of the first season, which is technically a movie/miniseries, in particular, the last episode SHREDDER & SPLINTERED.

CV: Favorite TMNT catch phrase?

ED: This is an easy one. "A little too Raph…" Spoken by Michelangelo in TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES II: SECRET OF THE OOZE.

CV: If you could master one of the signature weapons in TMNT, which would you pick?

ED: I've got to go with the nunchaku… or nunchucks as we used to call them when we were kids.

CV: What's your fondest TMNT memory?

ED: Getting out of school early on Fridays in 1990, 1991 and 1993 to go see the three original TMNT films.

CV: Why do you love being a TMNT fan?

ED: There are so many reasons. But I think the biggest is that being a TMNT fan really allows me to feel like a kid again.

CV: And the most important question of them all: favorite kind of pizza?

ED: As long as it's got some combination of marshmallow, peanut butter, tuna fish and jelly beans, I'm good.

Well, I think he was just talking about what was going on currently. He also didn't mention the films from the 90s.

1) Oy...Raph's his favorite and is the "most interesting" character further makes me worry this is going to be another "Wolverine and the X-Men" franchise focusing on Raph. Prove me wrong, please, please, please, but I worry it will.

2) TMNT on NES?!?! This guy's a masochist!
I still have never beaten that game myself.

I hate to say this, but all signs point to his being the Raph show, featuring Raphael, and His brothers. I, like you, do not like the thought of it, and hope that once Raph saves his brothers, it'll start to balance out.

I've posted some of these before but since this is the new "interview" thread I guess ill post them here. Not all of them are cast and crew, some of them are producers and a few from Eastman, but there are a couple from cast members.

I hadn't seen Evan Doherty interview. Thanks for posting. He's said he was a fan, but it's cool to see him talk about the turtles, as he's arguably the best person involved to find out is a fan. Hopefully, this eases some of the doubt people have with the actors being less familiar.
