Remember when Michael Bay wanted to call the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot simply Ninja Turtles? Well, there was a reason for that. According to a new toy photo, which reveals the Evolution Figure pack, the four mutant brothers are no longer teens in this version of the story. They're actually young adults traversing the streets of New York City and its underground sewer system. How old are they? We don't quite know yet, but its likely that they are Megan Fox's contemporaries, which would place them at roughly 28 years old. Which in turtle years (they can live to be over a hundred years old)...Makes them infants?

Check out the latest merchandise for this rebooted live action franchise.

Leonardo, shown in the photo, is actually the oldest of the four brothers, with the unpictured Michelangelo being the youngest. In the comic books and cartoons it's believed that Leo is 16 while the other three turtles are 15. The Evolution figures show the teen turtles as quite juvenile. Its possible that they are tweens, between 11 and 12 years of age, while the Turtles we'll meet in the movie are between 18 and 19, still making them teens? This may not be revealed in the finished movie at all, but one thing is for certain from these latest photos, we'll definitely get a 'growing up' montage that features Raphael running around in his tighty whities. Michael Bay: 1. Fans: 0.

This article is making a lot of assumptions based on incomplete information.

The person writing this has no integrity.

They don't really look like teenagers, but who's to say what a mutated teenage turtle would look like to begin with?

I'll just post something that I posted a while ago

Maybe the 'Teen' figure means a young teen, which would still make the fully grown Turtles Teenagers, but possibly older than previous incarnations?

What? That's all just assumption based on the toys! Didn't Eastman JUST say in an interview that they are teenagers? I think someone in the toy production messed up and named the "kids"-version of the turtles "teenagers", cause those figures seriously look like children, not teens (in that case they must be very early teens) and now everyone on the Internet is flipping over it...

Edit: Aaand I skimmed over the "tighty-whities" comment, which is again an error, they're not underpants, but a shirt or something either hanging down or some garment he tied around his waist.

Or that could be them as younger teenages (12-13) and now they're 16-18. Or maybe they are closer to adults, but the crux of the story is about them as teenagers.

a bit of an leap of conclusion, if the article writer only bases this off the Evolution three pack, sure they have quite a large build, but that doesn't mean they aren't within thee thirteen to nineteen years old.

This is kind of what I was thinking, they're mutated so they probably develop at different rates.

Honestly I've been making the adult assumption since the models went public, especially given that "teenage" was originally not in the title. Those models never looked like teens to me.. more like badly aged adults.. Can't say I'm surprised this has come up.

Because we know it's Mikey that has a pair of tighty whiteys. But "That, my friend....is a story for another time."

Have to say it wouldn't surprise me if they were meant to be adults based on dropping the "teenage" from the title originally, the old alien shtick, and that they seem to have kept the Green Door feel of them being built like NFL linebackers.

I doubt, however, there will be much emphasis on laying out their age and the article is right that one could argue they're "teenagers" for far longer than 18 years due to turtle lifespans. Their maturity could be teenager for 20-30 years despite their body's age.

True. Prob a pretty vague detail as far as the movie is concerned. But if they retain a longer lifespan and are teens longer than most... Poor Splinter. lol

I've certainly seen some human equivalent with all the bickering and defensiveness over this film.

It would explain why they kept the Teenage title for so long too! ;)

The guy that wrote that article is misinformed. They are teenagers.. in this movie.
Again... the title being just "Ninja Turtles" a looong time ago was a request by Paramount to make the title "simple". That's it.. I suspect that we will see the Turtles in their early years
12/13 years old.. but 18/19 years old will probably be their ages for the majority of the film.. They will be teenagers. The guy probably just saw the toy package and decided to write an article about " Michael Bays Turtles are Adults" without actually doing any research and it's ridiculous. Just another uninformed dude jumping on the internet hate wagon.

Yeah, but you're pretty uninformed too. Paramount may have wanted the title shorter, yes, but it's also very possible that they dropped the 'Teenage' part for another reason (i.e., could they be adults?)

Don't.....make....me....laugh. Am I misinformed? Me and everyone else in this thread that agreed..? How can Bay and Paramount be uninformed? Sorry man.. I've been following this film religiously since Laird announced it back in 09. I've been in contact with a few folks involved. I don't just go posting things without doing my research. With Google being literally a finger swipe away there is no excuse. So.. trust me. I am well informed

Paramount marketing changed the name. They made the title simple.

So once again with the " they're lying to you" argument?

*shrug* Doesn't really matter to me if they are or if they aren't. I kinda like the concept of them being portrayed as adults, and given the models it would reasonably fit it. But if they are still teens? *shrug (again)* Well kinda normal old news on this franchise, don't really care either way.

Boils down to just one more camp of complaint to add if people are going to act all up in arms over if they are or aren't. At this point I think most should have been able to find their own 'camp' by now... dear god what else could there be.

So... This bit in the article bother me more then his "the turtle must adults, cause toys said so" theory. He muses that the turtles are around 28 (April's age) and that since turtles lives so long, by turtle years they must be infants.

Now, I'm sure it was just a attempt at a joke, since the idea of turtle years, dog years cow years are rather silly notions. And is mostly. Myth since breeds age differently.

But, using those ideas. Turtle years apparently is more or less the same as cat years, so using that context, the Turtles would be far from infants...

Fans were never upset about the title change itself. After all as people have said many fans already abbreviate the title to "ninja turtles" anyway and it's a fine way to differentiate it from the previous movie series.

It wouldn't surprise me if that's what Michael Bay genuinely thinks as a lot of people involved in this movie just don't seem to "get" why fans are upset but his response to changing the title back did strike me as if he was deliberately avoiding talking about the real issue in order to trivialize it the whole mess.

It was never about the title change itself but the fact that it confirmed that they were planning to make the turtles aliens and that leaked script was indeed something they were working on.

(I honestly don't mind either title for this movie but it actually seems funny to me that after making such a fuss about changing it back they are still they're still trying to push their version with how they've designed the logo. It also worries me slightly what else they are trying to push from their original vision)

Besides the fact that Johnathan, Nemic, Even, and Eastman all say they will be teens yup just another lie

Well I personally believe that the turtles will be teenagers in the movie and that the toy packaging is just ill thought out so I probably shouldn't comment...but I can't help but point out that a lot of times you make claims about things people involved with movie have said and even link to it then I click on those same links it leads to an interview were the relevant person hasn't said anything close to what you claim.

Just sayin'

M. Bay's exact words

So once again with the " they're lying to you" argument?

Is this the same Michael Bay that claimed that the turtles were never supposed to be aliens and that script was not something Platinum Dunes was involved in? If so then he pretty much is a liar.

Again just sayin'

Well some of the people that aren't thrilled about this movie and feel they should voice their complaints have been members here and have been posting here for years including myself?

Are you suggesting that Marvel and Disney has some kind of time machine and sent us years back in time to prepare for the great 2014 TMNT smear campaign?
