Just wondered what you guys favorite design was

I assume you mean of all the franchise's different incarnations.

I'd say either the new Nick stuff or oddly enough Next Mutation. It was probably the first time they made a major change to the designs...and i kinda dug them.

I agree!, but i think my favorite design are the Nick Turtles

is it possible since you're a Moderator to add TMNT 2007, TMNT Next mutation, TMNT 1990 , TMNT 2014 to the poll?

I voted 2k3. Would have even with Movies, NM and '07 as options. They just look the coolest to me. Slick and tough.

Love OT, who doesn't, but they are on the cute side. Live Action movies are cool but they always came off kinda plump or chunky to me, given its people in suits. NM was decent. Suits seemed a little better...scale not build-quality. '07 was cool but too skinny. Nick is a bit too stylized for my taste but they're fine.

Never liked the Mirage designs. What?!...ya I know, they just look too droopy or sluggish to me.

Edit - Just looked at some IDW pics, hadn't much before, and they're cool but still pick 2k3.

I voted for 2k3 though (all) the movie designs weren't/aren't bad. I also think the NM looks weren't too bad but I may have re-watch the show to judge properly.

Nick turtles. I like that they actually have physical differences between them and don't just look like quadruplets with their masks and weapons being their only distinguishable features.

i'd have to go with henson, but specifically the first movie designs. maybe its the lighting or even film stock used in SOTO, but theres the slightest difference between the two movies that i notice and the '90 movie wins out.

also, and this might have to do more with art style than actual design, but i love ross campbell's work and the way he draws them.

As much as I was addicted to the series back in the 80s, and it's still a cute retro design, these days I'm gonna side with Nick.

More individual in design, I'm a fan of 3D animation which I have my own hands in a bit and Nick has done it quite well with this... and then factor in the to die for facial expressions.. yeah, they win.

I've never liked the design of the 2K3 turtles because they're so muscular and they all sound like adults, and not really teenagers. Nothing about them looked or felt like teenagers to me.

Funny, a few years ago I wouldn't have mentioned Mirage at all. The art style took a while to grow on me.

my favorite as of now are the out of the shadows designs but I voted for nick in the poll because its technically those turtles made more realistic. I like when there's physical differences between the brothers and this is the best I've ever seen it done. quick question though. wouldn't it be hard to vote for idw since the look of the turtles changes with the artist? I don't think theres any two guys on the book who draw them the same. idw shredder is my favorite look for that character though

What is the Mirage design?

Are we just talking about their gear? Otherwise the actual art styles vary wildly. And in IDW, not even that's consistent.

'92-'95 Lawson though.

Well, it's actually a toss-up between the movies (original 90 one, at least) and the 4Kids design, but since the movies weren't on the list, I went with 4Kids. They are my two fave versions so far, except for Santolouco's art style in IDW, which I LOVE!

I went with Mirage, specifically the issue #1 style. Beaks, long necks, massive toes. Though there are far more coveted TMNT figures, the Neca line will always be my favorite for this reason.

While I'm not fond of the long necks, the beaks and toes are really cool and I too really love the Neca figure line.

[But I still prefer the 2k3 art style because mmmm dem muscles let me rub on em I MEAN WHAT I DIDN'T SAY THAT]

'92-'95 Lawson though.

I normally go with the early 7 issue run of the Mirage for design. While IDW I go with Dan Duncan's 12 issue run. Normally what I think when identifying those two. Of course like you say thery vary greatly but those are just my personal favoites.

Mirage. It's the basis for everything that came after (well, everything that worked, anyway) and still the strongest overall. The Nick designs are a close second because the individual body types were a smart idea, though I like my Turtles with a bit more of a "beak". I like the 2003 Turtles a lot as well, but they're basically pretty Miragey but with the individual bandana colours and skin tones - again, a smart idea, but I still have to give it to the originals.

So only the Turtles as drawn by Eastman and Laird in the early issues?

Then I'm not sure. I do like those grimacy beaks though.

If the choice was there, I'd go with the movie 1 Turtle design, but since it's not there...hm, my choice would be between either 2007, Mirage, and Nick. I just can't include the 1987 turtles, despite my nostalgia for them. Without the masks, they remind me of Battletoads. Even at the time, they made me think of the Battletoads. Anyone remember the Battletoads? Did anyone play that game back then?

I like Nick (even though I am not a fan of CG animation) because of the obvious differences between the 4. I like that Donnie's the tallest, Raph has the chipped shell, Mikey has freckles, etc. I think it's nice that all that was added. In other words they could all wear the same mask and not have their signature weapon, and I'd still be able to tell them apart. As someone else mentioned, it seems more realistic that the four would have some physical differences and this incarnation does it best.

I don't care for the IDW design. Kind of....scary? I dunno. lol It's not bad, but...so-so for me.

I was turned off from the 2k3 design from the get go, honestly. I don't like the fact that they look all muscular and bulky. Real ninja are supposed to be slim so that they can sneak around, so I don't want to see them loaded up with muscle (2k3) or the size of skyscrapers (*coughs*newmovie*coughs*). Of course I'm using the term "real ninja" loosely because if they WERE being trained as real ninja, they wouldn't eat the way that they do. Real ninja have special diets to help prevent giving off certain body odors. I'm sure pizza wouldn't be on that list. :-P lol But yeah, I just felt the 2k3 turtles were too bulky.

Hm, I guess I'll vote for Nick's version.

My favorite look of the Turtles is how they looked in the live action movies and the Mirage comics.

So I guess whatever this is would be my favorite:

The 2003 designs got my vote (first few seasons - don't like the later alternatives at all). I loved how they were different shades of green, and I prefer the more serious poses they adopted as opposed to their more goofy 80's counterparts (who I am still fond of). I think their shells were a bit too bulbous though, and the flatter shells of the Nick version are much better. Nick and IDW battle it out for second place for me.

Out of this poll I voted for the 2K3 but my absolute favorite version is the way Michael Dooney and Chris Allan drew them. I always felt there art is easily the most iconic when it comes to the Turtles outside of most Eastman and Lairds works that is. I actually like the muscles not to big but not to small and they can look pretty damn threatening to there enemies and people who spot them yet warm and friendly to those they care about. Thats something I felt they lost with the Nick designs they always do cute and cuddly all I ever want to do is laugh and say "Come on guys who are you trying to kid." anytime they try to get white eyed and serious. All and all I like of mix of the old school Mirage and the 80's toon. Badass and cool but not to extreme. I felt those two artiest and and the 2k3 series did it brilliantly.

Examples hidden behind Spoiler.

From this list, it'd have to be between Mirage and 4Kids. Today, I went with 4Kids, but another day and I might ' ve easily picked Mirage. Had the 1st movie been an option, I would've picked it, because I love those designs. The second movie, the quality of the costumes was not as good, even though the animatronics had advanced a bit. I didn't like the slight changes to the face designs.

4Kids designs are about as big/bulky as I can tolerate, though, so the new movie designs annoy me.

I like a lot of the IDW art and the Nick designs. I like the way the Nick turtles are more individualistic... and they are adorable! Part of the appeal of the OT designs was that they were so friendly and cute looking. Nick took that idea and built on it! (Actually really like their design aesthetic for the entire show...It's like a mash up of old sci fi/monster b movies and cuteness that I'm a sucker for!)

I do really like the nick turtles spin on things, the facial expressions (mikey especially) really give a new look at the characters personalities. something the 2k3 series lacked in bulk.
