Not sure whether this thread will take off, but I thought it might be fun to have an opposite for the gear-grinding thread, where we can post little things that made us happy during the day!

My first one... a thing that made me happy today was the fog while I was driving to work this morning. I like fog, cuz it always makes me feel like I'm in a horror movie. :D I'm a simple creature, what can I say...

Since it was 90 degrees outside today, I was glad it was my day off of work. I work outdoors 90% of the time, so I'm glad all my co-workers were suffering and sweating in the heat while working while I was relaxing at home with the air conditioner on full blast.

I always love it when I get lucky at my job while others have to suffer. I guess I am lucky that my supervisors all like me.

I'm happy I got to see Amazing Spider-Man II just before it left our theater. I read up on all the comics on wikipedia and other sites so I pretty much knew this one was going to have an ending that'd tug at my heartstrings, but happy to see it nonetheless. I also got to see it with my fiance which was the cake rather than the icing. Good times.

Today's thing that made me happy - getting a haircut. Sounds shallow, but there's no greater feeling than the feel of a freshly-clipped pixie (especially when you've got really thick hair). I feel so light... and free! :D

After that, I pre-ordered two of the Revoltech turtles despite being quite certain I would have trouble paying for them but within an hour I was commissioned for almost their exact cost! So that worked out great.

Well, it's a couple days late, but what the heck. The place where my Brother works has an employee that is getting close to being fired, and I might be a Temporary Replacement, or I might be a Permament replacement. This means that technicly I might be getting a part time job, which is neat.

So, latest thing that made me happy - for my sister's 21st we went to a great teppanyaki restaurant where the chefs throw food at you and you have to catch it in your bowl (or your mouth!). It was awesome, so much fun! The chef made my sister chop stuff up and he said "Do like ninja!", so I yelled out "Go ninja, go ninja go!".

Because I'm a dork like that. I was also pretending that the restaurant was owned by the Foot Clan. Ich bin ein nerd. :P

Even though it's late and I've made a bad habit of not posting enough (a couple times per month really isn't enough when many of yer friends and family live out of state), I wanted to post how sweet Trey is. When he came home from his sleepover at Nona and Pops' house, he followed me to the bathroom, pointed at my bedroom door, and said quietly, "Dad sick." Kevin was sick for a little while yesterday, and Trey felt bad for him then and today. I explained to him that Dad was feeling better. It made Trey happy to hear that. We finally went grocery shopping and I can't explain how awesome it is to have actual food in the house again! I've spent so long eating everyone's leftovers and whatever no one wanted because I always make sure my son gets to eat the healthiest stuff and then I have to dig around awhile... Man I feel like I'm eating like royalty for the last couple days!!!

With my son visiting my sister for the weekend my hubby & I made hamburgers and I had one with cheese, barbecue sauce, bread and butter pickles with coleslaw on top- oh my gosh, best burger ever!!! I actually had a nightmare that night that Saddle Sore & Boot Hill Buzzard (henchmen from Cowboys of Moo Mesa cartoon) had kidnapped my husband and were torturing him to find the whereabouts of that burger... I'm kind of scared of my subconscious now.

Also picked up a copy of Thor: The Dark World, too, so I have more Marvel goodness to watch at home now! I've made a point of collecting all of the Marvel movies. (Except Amazing Spider-Man movies- I'm still on the fence about those.)

Duckie!!! Those Amazing Spiderman movies are so much better than the Tobey Maquire trilogy. Granted, I haven't seen the 2nd one yet but I have it on good authority that it's pretty good. But seriously, the Amazing Spiderman movie was so much better than the earlier Trilogy. They make so much more sense and stay in line with the comics better. But seriously, we are the same way about the Marvel movies- they're like Pokemon, gotta catch em all! Lol

I have to disagree there, Dawnatello. I actually like the three Raimi movies better than I did the first A S-M movie. I didn't even bother with the new one, as I was so disappointed with the first installment. The other three FELT more like a Spidey movie should- angst, conflict between his two "lives", and a definite "everyman" and "comic book" feel. Octavius especially, and Sandman as well, were both wonderfully done. I liked Venom, in spite of the slightly jarring lack of his trademark "we" instead of "I" in his speech. Everything else about those movies was great- and Toby was much more convincing as Peter than Garfield was, IMHO. Whoever thought a Cullen should play Peter (even if it wasn't Edward) was nuts. He's a pretty (albeit nerdy) face, and not much else. I'd call him geek-chic.

To me, the only thing the AS-M movie has done right was Garfield's banter as Spidey, and the incorporation of Peter's parents' past. Lizard was mediocre, and by using Gwen, while more true to the actual continuity, it just automatically leads into the inevitable story of her death, which left me not really caring as much about her, knowing how she will eventually end up. Add in that I liked Bryce Dallas Howard's Gwen better, and I just feel like the AS-M movies are sort of a let-down after what we got from Raimi, who is a long-time Spidey fan- and it showed in his films.

I definitely have to agree with you about the villians for the most part in the Raimi films, but I just can't get into Tobey Maguire. He's just so whiney... I think that was what largely turns me off of that Trilogy. However, I have to disagree about Garfield, I think he plays a better Spiderman, with my only real gripe being that he was a little too self-confident before becoming Spiderman. I was unaware of him being in any Twilight films since I avoid them like the plague, vampires, shouldn't glitter... but I've liked Garfield in a few other things I've seen him in and I appreciate his approach to acting.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Que sera sera and all that.

***Edit- I could really get behind a Raimi directed Amazing Spiderman film with Andrew Garfield as Spidey... or basically anyone but Tobey. Angst should not be so whiney... Tobey could never pull off emo, lol. I have a feeling that as a teenager his mother probably wanted to back hand him a lot- "Stop whining all the damn time Tobey!" The only thing I ever liked him in was Seabiscuit, but even then, the horse out-acted him.

Okay, thanks for clarifying that. I didn't think he was, but I thought that if he was, he played a minor role or something and that's why I never knew about it. I think people may be confusing him with Kellan Lutz who played Emmett in the Twilight movies.

And another thing that made me happy today: Friend's trading me a shiny Eevee!! I'll have a legit non-hacked shiny of Jolteon for the first time in my life and I'm incredibly excitED JOLTEON IS THE BEST OKAY IT'S MY FAVOURITE

Had a nice lunch with my parents, sister, brother-in-law, niece, grandparents, cousin, her husband, and their daughter. My grandparents, cousin and her family were in town for the weekend (Friday-today) to see my 1 month old niece for the first time (and because of the timing, celebrate Trey's 2nd birthday). It was a good visit, though short because of work. If I'd have had more warning, I'd have taken the weekend off.

I tried chaining back in Generation 4, but I just couldn't get the hang of it. I tried chaining Pikachu and Pichu in the Trophy Garden for months [because electric Pokémon were more likely to appear if the head Pokémon of your party has the Static ability; electric is my favourite type, so this worked out nicely for me in theory] but I never once got a shiny with this method. The highest chain I was ever able to reach was 22. I was just so bad at it, I rarely got over 10.

That said, I found another shiny Eevee today! This time from Wonder Trade! And it had a 31/31/x/31/31/31 IV spread! I also managed to hatch a shiny Riolu!

EDIT: I also got a shiny Emolga before I fell asleep last night!

Had such a lovely day today. We went to our favorite game store and my husband and I each got something. My husband and I got some new T-shirts (2 TMNT, Sonic & Godzilla shirts) which is always awesome! Then we took our son to his first ever movie in the theatre "Planes Fire & Rescue" with my folks and he was completely enamored. It was so fun to see him so engrossed. Then we all ate at a pizza place and played arcade games together and had an air hockey war. I finally beat my mom, which has never happened- it was cool. Just a great day, full of fun times with family and just a relaxed feel. Plus I ended the day by fixing a broken SEGA CD that I got a week ago or so. I had to teach myself to solder and practice a lot, but was finally successful. Great day! I haven't had such a nice day in quite some time!

Really made me happy that I found a really awesome way to clean my NES cartridges. I used Brasso, a Clic-Eraser & rubbing alcohol and take each cartridge apart and deep clean them. After everything gets put back together they work first time every time. I spent several hours working on getting a bunch of my games done this way this evening and it was so therapeutic to do. I'm such a nerd, lol!!! Unfortunately, I'm maybe only 1/4 done with my collection... Oh well, it'll all get done eventually. :tgrin:

What makes me happy- The fact that I'm going to be starting a new job next week!!! I finally bit the bullet and decided to say goodbye to McD's, and next week will be moving over to Taco Bell across the highway. It's closer to my home (not by a lot, but I won't have to cross under the highway and deal with crazy traffic so much) and in six months I can get benefits, and paid vacay after a year- something I don't have at McD's.

Also, I took my new movie Leo to work with me today to keep me company and have fun with. Since I work the back drive-thru window, I can set him up above my order-taking screen, and let customers have a good laugh; several of them commented on him, and one of my co-workers thought he was cute. I did that with my movie Mikey a couple of weeks ago, and I've taken all of my Nick turtle-kids at one time or another. Everyone thinks they're cute, and most of them think it's funny that I put them up over my monitor and have them in little poses.

Our son has been wanting the Slash figure and has been saving up for it. He only needed $2.50 more so I had him help me process some product for the flea market this weekend and he earned the last of the money he needed to buy it. He was so excited with his bag full of change skipping into Wal-Mart to buy his "Lash" (he has apraxia of speech & has trouble saying some things). The checkout lady thought he was so cute too... I'm so proud of him being responsible enough to work & save money up at such a young age. I think it starts some very good habits now that will be helpful later in life. Plus, he seems to cherish the toys he saves up for more than the others.

Got to stay for half of the game before I had to leave because my mom was picking me up to go to my grandmother's place to see my cousin who just came down to visit while he's on leave from the Army. For those unacquainted with football/soccer: Real Madrid are the world's biggest club by most estimations (they spend an absolute fortune on marquee players), and Sociedad are a good team but really just a medium-sized club, certainly not on the level of RM. So this is funny, especially as I generally consider Real Madrid an overrated team.

I got my greasy hands on some of the CG models from the Out of the Shadows game, in 3Ds Max files. This makes me very happy, and I wanna tinker with them and 3D print them out in the 6 inch scale as action figures.

And Donatello was rigged, I can animate him. The possibilities!

A customer at work sent me flowers to say thankyou for a job well done. It was a lovely gesture and came on a day when I really needed it.

That was nice, such gestures need to be more common.

Before I started my photography job, I managed a team at a dept. store. I, always, threw parties for people's birthdays, brought in donuts every weeks, and made a bunch of gifts for Christmas and Valentines Day (pictures below). I think it's terrible that many jobs don't show their appreciation for their employees very often, which lowers the morale of the workers.

I'm really excited. It seems they all are fully rigged for animation, strangely Donnie is missing the tail ends of his bandanna, but I can just make a copy from one of the others.


Shredder seems to come without his helmet, so I guess I have some work to do. I don't think Karai took her face plate off in the game, but she actually have a fully modeled face, kinda cool.

No one comes with weapons though. But, it's not too hard to model the weapons, just the chain on the nunchaku can be a pain.

What makes me happy- today was my day off, and my monthly D&D game group meeting! We had some fun encounters today, got to get into some exciting combat, and got pretty far in our campaign adventure.
