I think it will be PG-13 due to the intensity of the action scenes.

Most action summer tent poles are PG-13 these days. Expect something similar to Transforners or Avengers.

I think we already had a thread for this, from forever ago, but I think it'll be PG-13, which isn't saying much because that's the new PG, essentially. Nickelodeon has already released a PG-13 film in the past. It was called Fun Size. So it's no stretch. But, at the same time, I wouldn't expect a hard PG-13, with some of the light-Hangover-esque comedy of the Transformer sequels. I wouldn't expect Splinter accidentally eating pot brownies, metal balls hanging from Shredder's costume, or any one character pulling a document from their, eh, "human glove compartment" and sniffing their own brand or anything equivalent to that.

not it the way some people are thinking
let me explain.damn,ass,crap,etc..surprisingly even Dick at times can pass
little swears don't affect ratings
a pg 13 movie can use the fbomb once with out it getting an automatic r rating
past 2 and it gets an R

I'm pretty sure damn or ass earn the movie an automatic PG-13. When was the last time a movie used one of those and didn't get a PG-13. (Movies before the creation of PG-13 don't count)

I'm thinking PG or PG13 - they're going to want to maximize the box office take by making this accessible to kids and families. :)

I think it be PG13 (or 12A in the UK) I expect there will be a few swear words (The F word will probably be used once) and lots of violence (on the scale of films like The Wolverine ect)

Pretty sure that was before PG-13. Movies like Back To The Future or Indiana Jones (Any) got a PG rating when today they would've gotten PG-13.

I really doubt they'll use the F word in a ninja turtles movie. I think it'll be because of violence if anything. Even the Transformers curse but never the F word.

I just watched that last g.i. joe movie and the ninja dude was slicing everyone with the sword...just no blood. They'll probably let leo use his swords for some actualy slashing this time...just without the blood..

Nah, PG-13 came about after the PG-rated Gremlins & Temple of Doom terrified a generation of kids. Steven Spielberg himself suggested it. The first TMNT film would probably get a PG-13 these days though - it got a 12A (the UK equivalent) when it was re-rated a few years ago.
Movies that would have got a G/U rating 20 years ago get a PG these days, movies that would have been PG get slapped with a PG-13. As a result, PG has got an association with family or kids' films, meaning teens tend to stay away. That results in the studios pushing for the PG-13 rating, whether by adding violence/swearing/nudity/drug use to PG films, or cutting it from R films. It's all down to money...

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was PG-13. So was Batman. Both came out a year before the first TMNT film.
The rating system is consistently evolving, or in some cases, saturating. PG-13 was established in 1984. Prior to that, G and PG were just general ratings, which were just starting to be considered "family" ratings. G a lot faster than PG, as non-family films were still getting this rating well into the 90s. Now PG-13 is starting to go the same way.

Yeah, I should have checked my DVD copy - that's PG. I could have sworn when it got the limited cinema re-release it was 12A, but I must be mistaken...

I'd be willing to bet money that it will be rated pg-13, just like every other CBM that come out before it in the past several years.

Hmm Nickelodeon's name on it. PG-13.
They can't sell it as much to young kids of they go higher.

If it ends up rating PG-13, that will literally be the only thing going for it.
