Hi everyone! A few weeks ago, I saw this post...
Hell Peter Laird apparently loved the concept of Mutagen Man. In fact both he and Slash were going to appear in the proposed "Ultimate TMNT" show.
Throughout all the years of being a turtle fan, I've never heard of a potential show in the works named "Ultimate TMNT", so this intrigued me. If they would follow the lines of doing something like the "Ultimate Spiderman" comics, I would've been all for this (and even if they didn't, I probably would've). After finding this post, I did some small research, but still came up with nothing on the subject.
Does anyone know anything about an "Ultimate" TMNT show? If so, what was it all (going to be) about? Was this a Peter Laird idea?

Oops, accidentally posted this in the movie discussion. Can a mod move this into the general discussion? Sorry.

I did a Google search for Ultimate TMNT Show and the only thing that comes up, is that Ultimate book. But anyways, There was a pilot for a CGI TMNT series back in 2001 that never got picked up.

Well, not actually a pilot. More of a promo reel to pitch the idea, look, and feel really. ;)

Which is what the pilot I just posted was all about I think.

Thank the good lord we got the 4kids 2k3 show instead of that. That CGI was ugly.

A pilot is usually a full episode. So what I meant was the video linked is the pitch footage rather than an actual pilot.

To be fair, as it's a pitch video, it's probably more apt to be considered test footage rather than what the final product would look like. It's missing a lot of texturing and some of the backgrounds are pretty bare bones.

Visually, I'm VERY glad we got the 2003 series over this. But creatively, I think it would've been cool to see this show. Not really interested in ALL the changes shown, but some of the tone and concepts remind me of the 2003 series, which is cool. Overall, would've been interesting to see a show like this, but I wouldn't have wanted it to replace the 2003 show at all. If this would've been made, we would've probably never gotten the 2k3 series (stating the obvious here, but still).

That CGI video is what became the 4kids series, so I'm not so sure that's this supposed "Ultimate" show.

The heck did I just watch... lol
Having had my own hands in a bit of modeling/animation since around that same time, I'm so glad to have watched the technology/industry come as far as it has since then.
It was one of the rejected ideas for the 2008 cartoon season.
Since we're on the topic of failed TMNT cartoon pitches, I'll share with you what little I can with regards to Playmates Toys' recent pitch for the 2008 toon season, working title "Ultimate TMNT."
Ultimate was an attempt "to bring the TV and CGI movie universes together" (pitch materials quote), albeit with a creative focus on and tweaking of the original cartoon series, upping the humor level of the current series while still trying to walk the grungy streets of the original comic and recent movie.
Many past characters from various universes make their appearance. Most notable amongst the TMNT's regular allies are Usagi Yojimbo (shown here, and © Stan Sakai), Tattoo, Mondo Gecko and Hamato Yoshi/Splinter (toon origin version). Amongst the villains are Shredder (natch), Ruin (formerly Mutagen Man), Rat King, Slash and, um, Wingnut and Screwloose.
"For the first time ever... the turtles will be drawn and written as real teenagers. Their personalities and relationships will still be developing, their abilities and roles will still be growing and their training will be more intense than ever."

Huh. Interesting. Somehow I never caught wind of that. I wonder how it would have turned out... With the right animation style, that coulda been really neat!

Sweet! Thanks for sharing. Would've been really interested to see how this would've turned out.

Ultimate TMNT is what the Nick cartoon and IDW currently are.
I literally have no clue why this is being brought up since we have two current series that does exactly that

Maybe coincidence, I dunno. Guy seems to have videos, or "fake" videos as comments suggest, on another linked site, but can't find any Ultimate TMNT thing there.

It's brought no harm to anyone.
