Confirmed...?

Quickly photoshopped this brief moment in the trailer where Sachs says to an unidentified party "We're taking your armor to the next level" & brightened it up to reveal a human form.

There is a scene in one of the first trailers where Eric walks up to what we all assume is his empty Shredder outfit. Well, take a closer look at that scene, as I believe it isn't what it seems. I believe Eric Sachs is a character to just throw us off and anger us to help drive word of mouth; I believe Eric Sachs is taking orders from Shredder, and Eric is just a face Shredder uses to speak with the public in New York city. Is it the Saki shredder we all know and fear? Who knows.

Another thing to point out, Splinter and Shredder in this film heavily carry Japanese Motif in their design It would somewhat be in bad taste to add all that for the sake of look and then apply it to a bunch of Caucasian characters.

One of the big reasons Shredder wears his armor has a lot to do with the damage done to him by Master Splinter, and of course, as a way to intimidate and cause fear in civilians or any one that tried to get out of underneath the power of his Foot Clan. It would seem weird for the shredder armor to exist just because and not for similar reasons that we are used to.

So to sum it all up, I believe that Eric Sachs is just someone that Shredder uses to push the ideals of the Foot clan in New York. I think the character is there to also anger fans, so they can drive the film in word of mouth, regardless if its positive word of mouth or not. It always tends to be alright as long as people are talking about said movie. I believe we are being thrown the old red herring. Especially with the mysterious man in the trailer.

I think that's Oroku Saki, but i also think sachs is going to be the mech shredder. Simply because of what Fitchner said in his interviews about who ever wears the armor becomes the shredder.

I'm completely going overboard here but maybe Sach's tries it out and can't handle it, so Saki steps in and shows him how its done, with his armor.

My guess, based on this, is that Sachs uses his armor to fight the turtles, has some difficulty, then mechanizes it & is ultimately beaten, at which point the REAL Shredder takes things back to basics. Frustrated with his underlings incompetence & lack of respect for the original armor, he figures "If you want something done right you've got to do it yourself". Maybe for the end of the movie, maybe for the sequel. Not sure which. Then, I'm guessing (since Fichtner is supposedly on board for 3 films already), Sachs will become a different character from the past, as many have in the IDW comic & Nick series. I'm leaning towards Rat King, as getting his ass whooped and empire destroyed would force him into the slums/sewers. OR, he maintains his wealth & power & is instrumental in introducing another character, like, he hires Baxter Stockman to send mousers into the sewers to get revenge.

I really hope it is, that is all I can say. I kind of wonder if that is something they added later during the reshoots/recasting time period. Maybe the fan outcry was loud enough for them to at least add in the real shredder, but who knows he could have been in all along and they have just been lying for increased bad publicity.

I would love that. There are two shredder scenes in the trailer, the first when shredder invades the lair and im assuming the final fight when he manhandles raph.

I would prefer sachs to be the mech shredder and then after he is defeated. saki steps in with an original shredder armor and goes to work on the turtles.

After about the hundredth time watching the trailer. It feels that shredder "oroku Saki" and splinter have history with each other. To me it feels like splinter defeated oroku saki and saki turned to sachs to help seek vengeance.

Splinter says he's trained them all his life but he doesn't feel they are ready to face shredder.

Just has a mirage comic origin feel when it comes to splinter/ shredder can't wait to see the history behind them and how the story unfolds.

It's got to be him, hasn't it? I hope this means we get more of a back story of what happened between him and Splinter. I always like hearing Splinter tell his tale, no matter what version of the tale he tells. It definitely adds more depth to the characters and the story in general.

Then, I'm guessing (since Fichtner is supposedly on board for 3 films already), Sachs will become a different character from the past, as many have in the IDW comic & Nick series. I'm leaning towards Rat King

I like the idea of Shredder being displeased with him and consequently he takes on a new identity. Fichtner would make a great Rat King.

It seems like they might be pulling a Ra's Al Ghul hand on us with Sach's. Is he playing the shredder?

As some have already mentions, I think its safe to say Sachs is going to wear the armor and claim to be the shredder. Once everything fails Saki will come into play, or possibly set up the events for the next movie.

Its even plausible that Sachs is the American branch of the Foot Clan, dabbling in more military tech with the foot while Saki is the head leader.

I actually think they added Oroku Saki in during re-shoots. I mean, think about it: They changed the alien origin when us fans got pissed, and we got pissed at Eric Sachs being Shredder. They did re-shoots for a long time (Compared to other re-shoots.) So it wouldn't surprise me if they added Oroku Saki in and changed the origin up a bit.

I'm thinking Sachs is the leader of the American Foot Clan, but I don't think he's going to become THE Shredder. I think it's him up against Splinter, but I think he's going to use a tazer or something instead of martial arts. Then, at the final fight, the Turtles take him out quickly, and Raph realizes something's wrong, goes off to another part, finds Oroku Saki in armor, takes him on, gets his ass kicked, gets his brothers to help, and Oroku Saki just kicks ass.

This was my thought also. My hunch is that Sachs will be a Utrom/alien or somehow connected to the Kraang, whatever they're going with here, and Oroku Saki is the real Shredder.

At first, I was a little confused when I saw this in the trailer this morning. I wondered.. why would they give away this plot twist in a trailer? But maybe it isn't a twist. Maybe (hopefully) it is revealed early in the movie.

I'm thinking Eric Sach's is Shredder's mouthpiece in the streets. He is the suit that pushes what Shredder wants done throughout the city. Paying off politicians, policemen, etc. Shredder hides in the shadows, giving orders, making sure whatever operation he has going is being run smooth by Sach's. Sach's is the face of Shredder throughout the city. At the same time, he plays both sides of the coin. By making it look like his company is promoting healthy ideals and projects throughout the city while in the background, something far more sinister is going on.

Perhaps he gets caught up in this mess and eventually turns into an ally of the Turtles and April? I don't know, I am just spitballing.

I just think they gave us Oroku Saki because many and many people were not feeling the direction they may have originally had with how Shredder was portrayed.

Also I still hope this ends up being true as it is only subtext and backstory to the events of the film:

Oruko Saki is the Shredder, leader of the Foot Clan, an ancient order of ninjas. His rival, Hamato Yoshi, objects to Saki turning the Foot Clan into a criminal organization in the Tokyo underworld.
Saki has mastered an ancient martial technique that makes him virtually unbeatable, but Yoshi successfully creates a counter-technique that could defeat him. In anger, Saki killed Yoshi, but Yoshi's pet rat, Splinter, who had learned Ninjutsu from observing Yoshi's training, manages to escape and flee to New York City.
Saki's adoptive son, an American orphan named Eric Sachs, replaces him as The Shredder and travels to New York City, where he militarizes the Foot Clan. Alongside his loyal protege, Karai, Sachs aspires to expand the Foot Clan's control across the globe.
In the sewers beneath New York City, Splinter and four turtles come into contact with Ooze, a mutagen developed by Dr. Baxter Stockman. They become sentient and humanoid, and Splinter takes the turtles under his wing, naming them Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo, and teaching them the secrets of Ninjutsu, including Yoshi's fabled technique.
As the Turtles begin sabotaging the Foot Clan's expansion efforts, their paths cross with April O'Neil, a young and ambitious reporter from a newspaper owned by Bernadette Thompson, who believes breaking the story on the secrets of the elusive Foot Clan will launch her career. April is tagged for assassination by the Foot Clan for her meddling, and ends up being rescued by the Turtles. One of Raphael's sais is left behind, and April manages to trace it to the Turtles. They then form an alliance to stop the Shredder before he takes over New York's crime families, all while the Shredder, learning of the Turtles' existence and, particularly, of the survival of Splinter and Yoshi's technique, sends hordes of Foot assassins led by Karai to slay the Turtles

THat is exactly why

Morethan likely, Sachs is a Kagemusha for Saki, acting as The Shredder, he will don on the Shredder armor and will be more than likely killed at the end of the first movie. Then Saki will appear in the sequel as the real shredder and fight the turtles

I see something like

movie 2

Leonardo has been thrown through a window
"The shredder, he is back!"
The turtles fight foot clans
Mecha-Shredder appears
"No! We saw Sachs die!"
The three turtles strikes at shredder, but he just stands there tanking them
suddenly sounds of mechanisms ring through the air
explosion
chunks of the shredder suit flies everywhere causing the turtles to be blown back
the dust settles in as they see a much smaller figure
"Now you must face the one true shredder"

Burnt face man is :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Dacascos An Asian actor who knows martial arts.

Wow...really? I liked Dacascos as THE CROW. It wasn't the greatest show, but he was a likeable actor. He's done a bunch of b-movies and is probably best known for THE CROW and BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF.

He will make a cool Shredder!!

this is how false rumors get started.

a) he only kinda looks like dacascos. that was the first thing that popped into my mind when i saw that lightened pic of the shadowy figure too, but upon closer inspection, it really doesn't look exactly like him.

b) there's absolutely NO verification that its him. just a wikipedia link with his filmography...which, incidentally, doesn't include teenage mutant ninja turtles.

If that's the truth, then my hat's off to them for some savvy planning. I think there's a small hill of evidence to point to the contrary, though.

Im going with secret Shredder (wish they kept it a secret, ****ing Bay Trailers) becoming friends with a Utrom, who made a deal with him to intergrate himself in human society and use his technology to get ahead financially while helping shredder rule the underworld with the foot clan. So Sachs should be a Utrom , secret Shredder adopted and this brings us to the sequels in Sci Fi Drench Dimension X and mutants, which maybe just maybe we might have some in this movie as a surprise.

Yea I feel you....I made this same thread when I first started posting here titled oroku saki in the new movie....some were open to the idea and some critized.....and for some reason and I never found out why the thread got deleted after about a week in......just glad this is the direction the movie might be going in :D...

It still bothers me too... doesn't matter how they try to explain it, it stinks of "oh we can't have an asian actor carrying this huge important role, we gotta find some way around this!"

i mean there is nothing in the tmnt history that they are drawing this form, it is totally fabricated in every way.

the only way I will give them a pass is if it turns out to be an utrom/kraang in that body.

it's just one of the things we gotta deal with I guess.

I'm definitely thinking that William Fitchner is someone else. He was very careful with his words in the interview, he said something like "Shredder dons armor, that's who he is." but he said "We find out that Eric Sachs is also someone else." He didn't say that Eric Sachs was the Shredder, and if he did in another interview he was probably lying. I'm really curious on what they're doing with this, and I hope we get to see different branches of the Foot Clan.

We've got mention of a Japanese, Oroku Saki Shredder and CyberCubed is nowhere to be seen.

MastahShredder
06-25-2014, 05:47 AM
Old Fichtner interviews seem to hint at it. He seems to really skirt around the Shredder ordeal.

"Yeah, well, Eric Sach's or, Oroku Saki..the original Shredder..or so I'm told and I've read."

"They're are guys who become Shredder. That's also my understanding of it. So when Shredder becomes Shredder in this movie, it gets into the real back-story of his fascination with..and I can't give away too much but it gets into his deep fascination of armor and who is the Shredder who he creates. Anybody could play Shredder when they put the Shredder suit on. I don't care if it's an actor that's 5' tall. He's going to be Shredder and Shredder is a bad dude."

I'll post a theory. Originally, I posted in a previous thread that I believed Shredder was an Utrom that originally operated in Japan wearing an Oroku Saki suit. While operating as Oroku Saki, he had his encounter with Yoshi, and put into play the TMNT mythos. Then the Utrom Shredder relocated to NY and dumped the Saki Suit in favor of the Eric Sachs suit. Probably because the Saki suit had criminal baggage attached to it.

After seeing the trailer, as some have noted, the person in the shadows looks to be very static, almost dead and stuffed. So I postulate, the scarred man in the shadows IS the Oroku Saki suit. It's the Utrom Shredder's previous identity.

After watching the trailer multiple times I caught Will's character stating they are fighting a robot samurai. What if Shredder is beaten by Splinter or the turtles and they take his armor and create a robot version of it? This could use the same utom/krang technology.

It also seems to fit as when watching the trailer multiple times and freezing the frames I am unable to see a human in the suit itself. Where as the toy action figure shows arms, face etc.

I dunno, part of me's beginning to wonder whether Sachs is some weird, bastardized version of Baxter - in the sense that he has access to lots of hi tech, but different in that he seems to be a wealthy white politician guy.

I mean, LeBeouf's character in TF was a bastardized version of Spike, so it's not entirely out of the question. Fichtner'ss been signed for three films, so I feel like in some way he's still meant to be the big bad for any potential sequels. Potentially, Sachs' character could well have been made up of bits of Shredder, Baxter and Generic Bad Guy With Enough $$ and Political Influence For Many MacGuffins.

Just a theory - whether it pans out or not is anybody's guess at this stage.

My theory that's been bouncing around in my head:

That shadowy figure we see in the trailer is Saki, but a vision of Saki that Sachs sees in his head because of his obsession with the Shredder. He is delusional, and he sees the ghost of the true Shredder that he speaks to.

Or, because of the backlash, PD went back and added in Saki in the extensive reshoots they've done. This is probably most likely the case......or they threw out a red herring by denying Saki being present in the script in the press.

I'd be okay with shredder being a delusion vision......because i don't like being lied to. "Star Trek: Into Darkness"...aka "Wrath of Kahn reboot" is STILL sour in my mouth. I find it disingenuous to outright DENY a character's presence in a film; only to, not only have that character appear, but they are an integral part of the plot. That may be the new strategy for marketing in this interwebs age, but i don't like it.

I would not doubt that one bit, that the break for "re-shoots" was to find a way to squeeze Saki into it. And while that's still par for the course in movie-making - I've often wondered out loud if, like Alien 3, they shot this without a finished script - it'd still be kind of shady.

And they very well could have been lying the whole time about Saki not being in it, but that'd bother me. Simply not mentioning something is one thing, but full-on deception is a little bit more unacceptable, to me. That said, my memory is fuzzy... did they ever flat-out say, "There is no Saki", or "Sachs is Shredder"? Because there's fudging the truth, lying by omission, and flat-out lying outright, and they're all very different things. I don't remember how this whole Sachs thing started, so I'm not sure which one they've been doing this whole time.

Midnight Mutant

I did a youtube review for the original teaser and my first thoughts were William was Baxter Stockman, and that Shredder might show up later and that would be brilliant marketing. But then his name was revealed as Sachs and everywhere said he was Shredder.

Then this trailer happened and tho William might not be Baxter Stockman in name, maybe that is more his character and Shredder shows up later. I'm totally ok with that twist.

I'd already made my peace with ''white shredder'' depending on how the story goes, it COULD work. As long as they mention Saki in a legend or past or something and Sachs was an imitation or something.

I really wonder if this was their plan all along or if this was one of the changes they made during the script rewrite and reshoots.

I don't think Id mind...then Fitchner's 3-movie deal would make much more sense.

From the first trailer he confesses to April that he and her father were 'creating heroes'...scientist...then he tells Saki (?), that he's upgrading his armor...engineer. I think Sachs is krang. My take is he is confronted by Saki. Saki tells him he is the only true shredder. Sachs being krang tells him, " your old ways are fine and all, but we are taking your armor to the next level." He tries to use his fancy armor to take out the turtles and gets his ass handed to him. Set up for the sequel. Krang goes crawling to Saki.

The shadowy man probably is "the ghost of Saki" or a wax figure of Saki or something else along those lines. This ties in perfectly with the giant scroll that Sachs owns, which depicts an ancient battle that Saki probably participated in. Sachs is probably trying to emulate Saki, and become a modern version of Shredder.

to be fair. Trailers often have scenes where the footage and the audio are taken from to different points of the movie.

For example:
from the unreleased trailer when leo is fighting with his swords you hear him say "lets rock and roll boys."

The recently released trailer you hear the same audio except "boys" is cut out. The scene where the turtles do a fist bump you hear leo just say "lets rock and roll."

I have a theory that the talk between Sachs and April by the scroll is towards the end of the movie. He spills the beans on Oroku Saki and explains what the Shredder is, who the Turtles are and where all of it came from. I would not be surprised if he turned into an ally to save himself from the wrath of the whole operation being exposed. April leaves to get Raph and they go after Shredder.

I'd be shocked if the inclusion of Saki in this movie made any sense at all. I'm assuming his character (if the shadowy figure is Saki) was included at the last minute as a way to appease the fans that were pissed at having a white Shredder.

Speaking of the reshoots, does anyone know what the official line was on how much they had to reshoot? I'd be interested to know... and also whether those reshoots were based on a bad reaction from a test audience, or whether the studios just weren't happy with the film as was, or what the go is...

Lol. I think he'll be like Morgan Freeman in Batman but sinister. He's a weasel pretty much and once The Foot is exposed, he switches sides to save himself.

I think that Eric Sachs is this film's Oroku Saki. I think the shadowy figure he is talking to is "Krang" in a humanoid body like the Utroms were in the original comics. The Utroms are trying to create armor and in the process, Sachs uses the armor to create a suit for himself and that's when he becomes the Shredder. Just speculation.

Disagree. Sach's is talking to him in the dojo. I just think Sach's is a wealthy businessman who is a weasel. Saki is wealthy from his criminal operation, enough to get Sach's on board with his plans. He says Shredder is obsessed with armor. Sach's most likely provides him with the tech for his armor and finds himself obsessing over it himself. Maybe enough to where he puts on the finished product but gets his ass beat anyway.

I think they are saving Krang for the end or sequel.

The "We're re-shooting 1/3 of the movie under Bay's directions"-thing was an April-fools joke. How extensive any of the real re-shoots were I have no idea about, but nothing big enough to delay the movie (which a big change like introducing a new character central to the plot would probably be) I believe Saki was kept hidden as a surprise, but the backlash from the fans made them decide to slightly revile it a little in the new trailer just to guard them selves a bit.

Eh, I'm still going with that Oruku Saki is the head of the Foot, and Eric Sach's is the head of the NYC faction, and like most CEO's, he's probably got an ego problem.

How is the GHOST of Saki more simpler? A wax figure? Really? Making Sachs into some kind of psycho path sounds allot more convoluted imo. If we take the words from Eastman, " You're in for a pleasant surprise" when referring to shredder, there just might not be something simple about it.

Even if the shadowy figure IS Saki himself, I doubt he will play a big role in the movie when compared to Erik Sachs. Perhaps he will just hand the title of "Shredder" over to Sachs, and give him some advice. The guy in the shadows would probably be played by a bigger name actor if he was going to be the main villain.

Also, remember that Will Arnette did hint at Krang being in this, and the shadowy figure does look lifeless, so it wouldn't surprise me if that guy is Krangs android.

Saki from the new 2012 show. Or a combination of Saki 2012 show and 2003 utrom Saki. Only question is, why would Utrom Saki need to burn or scar the face of his android suit? I'm convinced that the man in the shadows IS Oroku Saki and "Eric Sachs" is Krang in android form. If you look at all of the clues provided thus far ("wer'e upgrading YOUR armor", interviews with Fichtner last year talking about how his character is revealed to be much more than people think, Eastman saying not to believe what's been written about Shredder, people saying they are sticking to the origin/mythology while putting their own spin on it, etc) - it's the only thing that makes sense. He is obviously working with Saki and supplying him with an "upgraded" Shredder suit, most likely because the turtles are too strong for him to deal with on his own. Plus, it would make sense that Krang is secretly acting as some type of businessman/politician manilpulating things for his own purpose (making it easier for his fellow Kraang to invade earth?, etc.) while having Shredder/Foot Clan act as his muscle. I'm sure all the while, Saki has plans of his own and is in turn using Krang to his own benefit (to help him take out the turtles, expand the power of the Foot, etc.)

To me at least, this all sounds very, very plausible and something they are trying to keep under wraps to surprise the audience. If true, I'd have a whole new level of respect for what they are trying to accomplish with this movie. It would sure as heck make it easier to look past my gripes (Fox casting, certain design choices for turtles), etc.

That would kind of suck for Fichtner. He signs on to play the main antagonist of the series and he's changed to just a lackey in the re-shoots.

While I think this movie has treated some of it's actors badly (I know it's the nature of the biz but still) I don't think they'd so that to Bay's friend.

I think the most likely scenario is that in the re-shoots they added in that Sachs is Saki's apprentice from whom he's taken the Shredder identity from. I'm betting it's still Sach's in that armor.

What I am wondering, who is in the shredder costume? Eric says he is taking Saki's armor to the next level, which indicates Saki might be wearing it, but all evidence shows that Eric is it's wearer, after all he says his actor says he is the shredder, and he is looking at it's armor in the original trailer as if it is his. So who will be wearing it?

And if Eric is wearing it (as I am currently presupposing he is, why? Something I hope is answered in the movie!

Dr. Shreddarius being the shadowy figure. Splinter being a lab rat (script from the turtle visual history book). The turtles being created by accident in a lab, because Shreddarius is trying to create an army of bio-mechanical soldiers to defend the Earth from an alien takeover (aka heros are not born they are created). Disfiguring himself (man in the shadows with a bad case of yo face is F*&%#@ up). Shreddarius gets a cyborg body (might explain why the shredder armor is a mech suit in the new movie). Why would Eric Sach said "It's time we updated YOUR ARMOR" to the shadowy figure? That doesn't even make sense.

As if the Kraang needs armor. And if Sachs is Shredder, he doesn't even need to tell people, he'd just update the armor himself.

Mr. Chang sounds like Eric Sachs' utrom friend that uses an asian android body, lol.

Chang does sound kind of like Krang though. Hmm

There's a whole TCRI building, so there can be multiple utroms in this. There might even be both good and bad ones..

It wouldn't take much to add in a scene or two with Saki were Saki refers to him as "master". For all we know that could be his only scene.

If they really were keeping this secret since the beginning then I'd say that's a very poor way to promote the movie and they could have easily come clean earlier - if that's the case they deserve the backlash. There's also the question of why they would bother with this Eric Sachs nonsense in the first place? If they were inclined to use Saki why not...use Saki.

A few of the actors have stated changes were thought up while shooting so I have no problem buying the idea they've hastily added in Oroku Saki to appease fans.

He could be completely cgi, and only appears in shadows ala Norman Osbourne in Amazing a Spider-Man 1, or like the Thanos cameo in Avengers. Not getting a proper role, and a actor until the sequel.

This is originally what I thought, but isn't a black actor credited on IMDB for the role of Baxter in the film? I had already come up with the theory that Eric Sachs is the Utrom Shredder or at least an Utrom or Kraang before finding my way into this thread.

It could be that the scarred man is the resurrected Oroku Saki (resurrected the way he was in the Return to New York comic arc), and Eric Sachs is the Red Utrom/imitation Shredder who became obsessed with him.

I haven't checked out any IMDB entries for this movie in a really long time, but I tend not to trust anything that's up on IMDB until the movie comes out... again, the "Mos Def is playing Baxter" thing just kind of put me off viewing it as any kind of source when it comes to this movie.

I could get them keeping Oroku Saki as a secret, but why would they tell us that William Fitchner is Shredder? I mean, yes we'll be relieved if we find out he's NOT Shredder, but it may cost them some people not seeing the movie due to that.

As much as I feel bad for William Fitchner, considering that before they did re-shoots he probably WAS playing Shredder, but I feel worse for Danny Woodburn and Pete Plozek, especially Pete. I'm glad that they went with unknown-not-so-well-known actors for the Turtles, but Pete and Danny got the short end of the stick. I'm glad they recasted Danny because his voice is too raspy for Splinter, but Pete seems like he could've done a good/decent job, though I will admit I do like Johnny Knoxville's voice for Leo so far.

The reshoots were vary minimal The chances that they changed the whole story during reshoots is ridiculous something of the nature would have take much more time and effort then what we have seen with the reshoots, THis is something they have likely had in place for well over a year now.

People are forgetting that these people took a whole year to rewrite the script What we see in the movie give of take possible add lib and minor aspects is what they had written after the script rewrites.

Fichtner Has his role And has been alluding us to what it might be in cryptic ways thats it, It part wasn't drastically rewritten the last bit of producing this movie.

They haven'y been cryptic. They've told us straight Fichtner is playing a character called Eric Sachs and Sachs is the Shredder. If that's not true they've lied and not the first time either, Why should we believe anything they say?

Also the identity of the Shredder shouldn't be a spoiler. Anyone who knows anything about TMNT knows the Shredder is Oroku Saki, it shouldn't be an issue but they've made it one.

That's not cryptic at all. If they wanted to keep Shredder a secret, keep Shredder a secret. Don't flat out tell us that Fitchner is Shredder. Iron Man 3 advertised Mandarin as the main antagonist but it was... well, I forget his name. This movie is the exact opposite. Everyone was let down that Mandarin wasn't the real villain, but this movie could do better. They don't have to advertise Shredder, just don't tell us he's in the movie. Saying that William Fitchner was Shredder pissed the fans off and wasn't a very smart move on their part due to all of the controversy this movie has.

I'm starting to think that the guy in the shadows is both Saki, AND Utrom/Krang. That would explain how Saki still lives, even though he is from the feudal Japan era (this also ties into the scroll on the wall). I still believe that Sachs is going to be the guy in the "modern Shredder armor", though. The turtles probably won't directly confront Saki/Krang in this movie.

Well considering this is mainly the same team responsible for the Blue Door script wouldn't the most logical thing to feel is trepidation at a) what may be left in from that script and b) what similar new ideas they've come up with.

Well I think there's something funny about this defense of the movie.

Up until recently we've gotten so little marketing compared to movies of its kind and the general defense of this is that they don't want to spoil things like other movies do when we know and have seen everything and yet I can't help but that every trailer has shown important plot details.

We know more about Bay's TMNT than we do about GOTG despite the latter packing more into it's trailers.

I've never personally complained about them not showing much and there's a difference between pointing out the lack of marketing and what it could mean for the movie and what they include in the trailers.

The defense that they are trying to not spoil us doesn't work when the trailers are showing major plot details. So if they were unconcerned about that makes you wonder why they are so late with promo.

But that's it's just how all stories work and script specifically. Respectfully, I've got to disagree about Blue Door not being terrible - it was. Hilariously so, IMO, but it was a mess from start to finish. Laird himself said that the entire thing should be thrown out and the writers should start again from scratch.

When you look at the fact that some - SOME - Blue Door stuff has made it into the new version, it understandably makes some people nervous.

Y-e-a-h, that script was pretty bad. Not totally surprised that some of it got clipped and pasted into the final movie. More than anything, the fact that THAT was the official blueprint for the movie until way, WAY late in the game, and that they only shifted gears based on fan outcry after it leaked out - and then went out of their way to lie about when exactly they'd scrapped it - is what makes me feel like the project was fundamentally being conceived and executed by people who Don't Get It. Yeah, they changed it... but they totally weren't going to, and I'm betting they still don't understand what exactly was wrong with it.

Which, as others have said, was Everything. There was literally nothing in that script that deserved to be in a movie. That dialog, especially... oof.

There were four characters in it that, ostensibly, were meant to represent the Ninja Turtles. That's literally all it had going for it. The rest was a mess. For what it's worth, it explains a lot. If that's the standard level of what passes for a script that people in "The Biz" actually pay for, well... it explains a lot about movies in general. Specifically, why so many of them are so awful. Because apparently, not even a sixth-grade education in basic spelling and grammar is required to be paid a lot of money to work in Hollywood. Again, it explains a lot.

From what I've heard, something had a date on it that "proved" they were still using it a few months later than they said they threw it out. I don't know for sure and nobody probably does except them. However, since they apparently kept some of it, it definitely shows that at one point fairly recently, they had full intentions of making the whole thing as it was written.

I'm also inclined to believe the exact opposite of everything people working in Hollywood say. Just seems to be the rule of thumb. I mean, I get it, what are they gonna say? "We admit, we screwed up, we didn't really know what we were doing and we had a bad script made up?" They have to at least pretend to be competent, that's business. I understand it, I just don't like it.

that's how scripts work

actually thats not how scripts work, one or 2 dudes don't work on it from day one..sometimes scripts can have as much as 15-30 uncredited writers all brought in at different times. when a script is chosen it is usually given to a second set of writers to tweak it to the producers liking. followed by another set to tweak it to what the director see's. rewrites can literally happen on set morning of a shoot (i know that from experience, nothing like getting on set at 5am to be told everything is scrapped and they have a new script for you ) even some actors have their own guys work on scripts because they what a certain type of dialog portrayal..

would not surprise me if Fox and Fichtner have their own script tweakers when they sign onto movies

cracked wrote a great article on it

i would Recommend people read the whole thing, you will begin to notice these things in movies you watch

Hey, have you noticed that Tom Cruise sounds almost exactly like Tom Cruise in all of his movies, with a few exceptions (auteur-helmed art movies like Magnolia and against-type comic movies like Tropic Thunder)? The same can be said about Will Smith; whether he's playing a cool young fighter pilot in Independence Day or a 19th century steampunk cowboy in Wild Wild West or a Converse-wearing Luddite in I, Robot, there's something distinctly ... Will Smithian about every piece of dialogue he delivers. All of the other actors in his movies are saying lines in the script that either further the plot or set up jokes, while Will Smith gets to say things like "Aw, hell no" and "Now that's what I'm talking about" and a variety of other "Will Smith lines," for lack of a better term.

The same could be said of Ben Stiller, who, despite having appeared in a ton of different movies with a ton of different writers, always seems to end up sounding exactly like Ben Stiller always sounds. Is it because these actors have such distinct voices that any writer can perfectly ape their style? Is it because they all ignore scripts and improvise on the day of shooting?

No. It's because when a movie signs Ben Stiller, they're also signing whatever writer Ben Stiller wants to bring on to punch up his dialogue. Established movie stars like Stiller or Adam Sandler or Will Smith can look at a script and say, "Wow, I want to do this, this movie looks great! The only thing that needs to change is literally every line I have. Just change them to the kind of lines that I sound cool saying." Hell, for Men in Black 3, Will Smith hired a Fresh Prince writer to punch up all of his dialogue, and none of the other writers on the project knew about it.

These actors aren't trying to torpedo a movie or anything, they're just trying to make sure that every line they have to say in the script is a good fit for their particular voice. That's understandable (they, like everyone, are just trying to keep their jobs and keep getting paid, after all), but it also supports the idea that any given script can have any number of writers, all with different intentions: Writer 1 is trying to tell a coherent story, Writer 2 is trying to make sure the script has the amount of explosions that the studio wants, Writer 3 is trying to support the director's vision, Writer 4 is trying to make sure none of Martin Lawrence's lines make him sound like an idiot, and so on. If you see a movie and it feels like each scene was written by someone who hadn't read the scenes that came before or after it, that's because that is a distinct possibility.

Im still confused on what happened with the blue door script, did they really lie about it or was it really an old thrown out draft?? How does anyone know for sure???

People Use the Date stamped on the Script as an "indicator", That what Micheal Eventualy came out and said as a lie, Truth is we have no clue what phase of the script BD was in was it a early script was it an early draft of a draft later in the run of that particular script, Was it a script being worked on Or was it One of several that were currently working on at the particular time. And no All of this is all speculation Thats it

and i would say to you, that you should do the same..take off the TMNT colored glasses and look at everything from the eyes of someone who knows nothing about about it

actually thats not how scripts work, one or 2 dudes don't work on it from day one..sometimes scripts can have as much as 15-30 uncredited writers all brought in at different times. when a script is chosen it is usually given to a second set of writers to tweak it to the producers liking. followed by another set to tweak it to what the director see's. rewrites can literally happen on set morning of a shoot (i know that from experience, nothing like getting on set at 5am to be told everything is scrapped and they have a new script for you ) even some actors have their own guys work on scripts because they what a certain type of dialog portrayal..

would not surprise me if Fox and Fichtner have their own script tweakers when they sign onto movies

cracked wrote a great article on it

i would Recommend people read the whole thing, you will begin to notice these things in movies you watch

Either you missed the whole point of my post or you just dont get what im saying

Tell me Is the very first script written Identical to the final draft used for production??? NO Script Have sometime 100's of differen drafts with several versions of those drafts, different stages in the Drafting process,

Meaning BD Could essentially Be 1/100 script Even before Adding the final Screen writer, and (for the sake of your post) Fichtner, woopi and other actors screen writers as well. After the fact and well after the BD script was said to be in use Let alone BD script was drafted before Johnathan and Eastman sat down and discussed TMNT and Eastman talking with the Screen writers as well,

Added all that with the fact that they took a full YEAR for rewrites. Even you with your vast Knowledge on Movie make Film school and screen play writing can say that is a good amount of time to change just about anything you really wanted, Yes they could have completely removed every aspect of BD but why do that when scenes like the Snowy down hill scene make Amazing action set pieces?

Im arguing that to used the BD script as Any major indicator on this film is blatantly Wrong and should not be done the script Has been changed, Thats that, and to Say that it really has Any Major barring on this Film at this point in time after having so much time and input and rewrites is unlikely

And the fact that people are to stuck on that blasted script is Ridiculous

You know you easily could just ignore what we say...we all know you are on the train on this film, so don't waste your breath trying to sway us...ignore us when we say something that bugs you and only post those times when it's something you agree with

That said people are "stuck" on it because it's pretty much all we know about this project..and then we were lied to about nothing being kept from the BD script only to see many aspects in the "new" rewrite

It's not "ridiculous", simply because the same people who eventually had the script changed are the same exact people who originally paid for it and were at one point planning on using it. If nothing else, it proves they have no taste, and that anything they do *should* be given the ol' Raised Eyebrow.

Im sorry but the Blue Door script was just plain terrible, so I can see why people are so worried about this film. The fact that they are using the same writers who came up with that abomination, concerns me.. I don't think it was just an coincidence that the snow mountain scene was included in the actual movie..

Yeah, dude, that's my issue. That, and studios don't so much "write new scripts" as they take whatever they like from 3 or 4 scripts they've got lying around and do a cut n' paste. James Cameron once got paid for writing a Spider-Man script that he literally didn't even touch! He pasted his name over the original writers' names, sent it back to the studio, and they never even f*cking noticed! It's obscene how stupid these people are. You guys have no idea.

But script go through 100's of different drafts Do you know or have read any of there other drafts And they are fantastic writer just look at the other projects they worked on to base Every thing they have done and will ever do based off of some leaked Script. ONE of which you have next to no info. Like what stage the script was meant for IE close to final drafter(which is obviously wasn't because they decided to add a screen writer and take a year to rewrite.

Some scripts do and some get hacked apart and put back together as scripts for other movies. It's not an art. In no way is it "art". And forgive me if I'm just too cynical to believe that they decided to go with, "You know what, we need to start from Square One, and really treat this thing from the ground up with more care" for a Ninja Turtles movie. A movie with as many problems as this one has had over the last ten years isn't going to GET a hundred re-writes, because they've already gone through a ton of that and they aren't going to want to spend the money on that. And why would they, when they have plenty of scripts for "Action Movie A" and "Action Movie B" already sitting in a drawer, that can easily just plug some Turtles characters into? And knowing for a fact that not some, but MOST final scripts are done this way, why exactly should I think they did a total do-over on the TMNT script? There's no reason to think they care that much.

To me, this entire movie seems like it's been cribbed from other movies, and that's why I don't like what I've seen, because it's showing me a ton of stuff I didn't like when I've seen it done elsewhere.

And I didn't like ANY of those things you mentioned these guys having written, either. So I guess I just don't like how they write. Good for 'em, they're rich and I'm not. Doesn't mean they're brilliant. Nothing personal, they're paid to do a job and I apparently don't like their work, based on what I've seen so far. Simple as that.

Yeah from what I've seen in their track-record, they are pretty good writers.
But the "oh look, he's using his batman voice" and the "Im a snapping turtle fool." line looks like something that could have been taken right from the BD script. Idk maybe im just being too overcritical about this, or its probably because of the fact im still pissed at the GOTG screening. I just feel like these two movies I have been so hyped for so long might suck in the end... UGhh I should just stop complaining now

yup and all the marvel movie ad Untouchable

Im sorry this double standard is ridiculous

there is no leveling with you or those already sure 100% that that script is being used and just as bad But what ever there is no reasoning with you or anyone like you

Funny part if this Script was never leaked None of this would be an issue.

And i dont wanna hear "oh well then would would have just gotten the BD script" NO the Script was under going major rewrites and pushed back for the reason of the script any way. it would have been rewritten regardless if the script made it online or not, as for the whole Bay comment whether it was a mistake on his part confusion or what, people like to specifically Hold on to the negative for what ever reason

Brother, all I'm gonna say is that, as deep as you're willing to reach to find a positive in a negative, if they aren't paying you a dime to cheerlead for this movie, they absolutely should be. Get after 'em on that. You shouldn't be doing all this for free. That wouldn't be fair to you.

Just remember that Jokes and line like that Are also Straight out of the Current TMNT show, 80's wolf series or the OG movies for that matter,

"ninja kick the damn Rabbit"

Its not them Writing bad its that Contents of which they are writing this is a TMNT movie TMNT has and should always have that Comedy aspect Specially with MIkey, from which both lines pertain

Yup so any wanna be screen writer out there Now knows that if their first draft Sucks There is no saving it. OK make since I guess any writer should just stop and never try to rework anything YUP got me.

Funny thing is EVen you Should Know That people who put time into something can make something bad into something great, Concept to inception Takes work For anything whether its Food, art work, Puppeteering, writing, One script that As far as i have seen online was just the FIRST script in a long line of scripts, AKA first Draft. Could and would be fixed and made Better By your logic F^@# it forget it scrap it and get someone better OK

Boston, I think what he's trying to say, though, is that even if the script they didn't use was bad, we haven't seen the script they did use at all, so based on that, we should be hopeful. And I get that angle. My angle simply is, if I generally haven't liked their other stuff, I probably wouldn't be in love with this. I mean, it's entirely possible, just kind of less likely.

Exactly Its not a hard concept to grasp either

What he said reminds me of what an old college band teacher once told the whole Class
"There are no Music jobs anymore, Your in a industry that so hard its not worth being in"(when in fact my drum instructor Confirmed and prove How much he was just talking out of his A$$)

That Teacher is and will always be a terrible teacher, who is arrogant and a fool, Yes the music Industry is Hard but i have several friend who a flourishing in that very industry.

Same goes for Screen writers, If one Draft of a script is Bad Should they give up because its unfixable??? NO they work hard and they Damn well fix it that why they get paid not just their first draft they get paid for every draft Up till the finish the one the Production wants.
